So I've recently installed some games on my system and I think they have been overwriting my DirectX a few times, and now when I try to launch games like The Crew or Far Cry 4, they don't launch. I doubt it's the game's fault because they both worked fine before (and no updates have happened since to them) so I decided to reinstall DirectX. I've tried using the main installer for latest DirectX Redist on the official site however no luck, I have also tried using the Web Installer and still resulted in the same error

    I’ve checked the Services and the Cryptographic Service is on Automatic and is Running, so is the dependant service too. I’m not sure on how to check the certificate though but I have found out that when I used a Built-In Administrator User, DirectX installed
    just fine! I haven’t tried on a different regular administrator account but will do soon. I’ve tried many different solutions… Can I get one that actually works?

    If you still cannot Install DirectX then there could be some corrupted files.

    To determine whether the issue that you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows Vista, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of the system files
    by using the correct versions.

Error 1330 A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file D:Data1.cab has an invalid digital signature.

A Windows Installer message may be displayed during installation: Error 1330. A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file D:Data1.cab [File name and location may be different] has an invalid digital signature. This may indicate the file is corrupt. Error 24592 was returned by WinVerifyTrust.

This is a Windows OS Error message.

Cause:

During installation, Windows Installer calls WinVerifyTrust to verify that a signed file is valid. By default, a certificate revocation list (CRL) is checked to verify if the certificate is valid. Although the digital signature in the package may be valid, system is unable to verify a digital signature in the package CAB files.

  1. The Root Certificates on the Windows OS are out of date. This can happen if Microsoft Windows updates have not been fully applied.
  2. You are installing the software on Windows OS that are no longer supported by Microsoft, e.g. Windows 2000 or Windows XP SP3 or earlier.
  3. The target computer is not connected to the internet. During the installation Windows Installer on the computer will try to verify the digital signature online with the digital certificate authority (CA), when internet connection is not available the verification will fail causing this error.
  4. Some process running on Windows could be corrupting the digital signature of the Data1.cab when the installer is extracting files during installation process.
  5. A Windows issue on Windows XP whereby the OS cannot verify digital signatures of larger installation files. Microsoft have confirmed there is no fix for Windows XP.

Solution:

  1. Ensure the computer is connected to the internet during installation.
  2. Run Windows Update on your computer to install all necessary updates, including Root Certificate update and browser updates. (This will not work on Windows OS that are no longer supported by Microsoft)

  1. (( I posted this deep in another thread, but so many people are reporting this, I thought I would post what I managed to do to fix it, in case it helps anyone.
    When I logged in this evening, I had the same error regarding the missing file «d3dx9_31.dll» that so many others are reporting here.
    I immediately decided to update my version of Direct X from Microsoft, but then this install then failed, giving the error:
    «A cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trusted. Please verify the Cryptographic Services are enabled and the cabinet file certificate is valid».
    I spent almost 3 hours trying to solve this, following much of the advice given above and elsewhere, and none of it worked. However, I eventually found a solution on a random forum post after searching the web for help. The problem actually comes down the the latest Direct X «Web Installer» seemingly not working properly. Instead, I then downloaded the full version of Direct X on to my PC. I got the Direct X here:

    Once the file «directx_Jun2010_redist.exe» was on my hard drive, I ran that to unpack it into a temporary directory, and then from that temporary directory, ran the «DXSETUP.exe».
    This installed DirectX cleanly. After a reboot, it then all worked. )).

    Hello,
    I formatted a few hours ago, so far everything worked fine. I let windows do all the updates (which took quite a long time) and installed them without any errors. Must say, that I had this W7 (64bits) Installed before on my HD and worked perfectly, but I felt I needed a format.

    But now the errors comes…DirectX simply does not want to install. Programs and games asks me for DirectX, and if I try to install it with a setup, it shows Initializing, then gives me error «Check dxerror.log», something like that.
    I’m hopeless, I googled for hours with no rewards.

    Any saviors here?

    Thanks. After hours of Googeling and trying every single option, apparently it was a specific program bug. MPC HC gave me DirectX error which I though are related to DirectX. apparently, it’s a Windows 7 bug related to the fact it is looking for a D9 file but can’t find it, as Windows 7s DX11.     Hint: Let the program run until it is done. I have seen the program run for 10 minutes on a gaming rig and it did repair the issue.

  2. Запустите загруженный исполняемый файл dxwebsetup.exe. Согласитесь с условиями и откажитесь от установки дополнительного ПО (на текущий момент времени он предлагает установить панель Microsoft Bing).

Error 1330. A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file filename has an invalid digital signature…

Cause

Beginning in release 14.2 and onwards, SPSS Modeler products use IBM-issued certification for digital signing. In certain circumstances you may see the ‘1330’ error when trying to install SPSS Modeler products. You will see this message if you try to install SPSS Modeler products on a machine that has no Internet connection and does not have the correct certificate installed.

Resolving The Problem

You see this message if you try to install SPSS Modeler products on a machine that has no Internet connection and does not have the correct certificate installed. Use the following procedure to correct this problem.

Note: The Modeler Installation Guides provide information on this subject. Please review «Troubleshooting an Installation; Invalid digital signature on installation.»

1. Click OK to acknowledge the message.

2. Click Cancel to exit from the installer.

3. Copy the following certificate including the “BEGIN CERTIFICATE” and “END CERTIFICATE”. Save the root Certification Authority (CA) as a .cer file (i.e. modeler.cer) to your desktop.

4. Double-click the .cer file.

5. On the General tab, click “Install Certificate”.

6. Follow the instructions in the Certificate Import Wizard, using the default options and clicking Finish at the end.

7. Retry the installation.
