There’s a bug in your makefile, you’ll have to fix it. Nmake.exe errors suck, good luck.

Question: Is there any manual/steps on how to build Apache for windows? The official documentation isn’t sufficient.
I’ve tried to compile Apache HTTP Server 2.4 on windows using Visual Studio 2008 Professional on Windows 7 Service Pack 3, but with no hope at all!!
Already tested same steps with Apache HTTP Server 2.2 and had successful build process.
I don’t know what’s wrong, or what’s missing. Here it is followed steps:
Visual Studio 2008 Command Prompt:

Required libraries already in place:

As I said, all Apache HTTP Server 2.2 compilations are successful, while all Apache HTTP Server 2.4 is NOT.
This is the most occuring error, repeated over 100 times:
fatal error LNK1181: cannot open input file '....releaselibhttpd.lib'
Other errors:
fatal error LNK1181: cannot open input file '..releasemod_proxy_balancer.lib'
fatal error LNK1181: cannot open input file '..corereleasemod_watchdog.lib'

Note: I’ve noticed that there’s multiple .mak file missing from the Apache 2.4 package, including the httpd.mak & others. I think that’s big part of the problem.
Any suggestions?
Environment: Windows 7 | Visual Studio 2008 | Cygin | Apache HTTP Server 2.4 Source | APR/APR-UTIL/APR-ICONV/ZLIB/OPENSSL

Actually, you used the verb form, to be semantically correct you should have used the adjective form «damned».

ignoring the above spams, i attempted to install the visual studio plugin, but there was an error saying that i need to run with admin privileges. so i did. then, the same error happened again. and that makefile errror still occurs

i dont understand how to compile my program.
and as for visual studio, i can’t figure out how to add the vctemplate included with palib quickfix.

Programmer’s Notepad uses Makefiles to build. Instead of creating a new project from scratch, I suggest copying an existing project and changing its properties. For example:[/font]
1. Go to C:devkitProexamplesndsGraphics3Dnehe
2. Copy the lesson01 folder to a desired workspace location (like C:ds_workspace)
3. Go to C:ds_workspace and rename the lesson01 folder to anything you want (like «myproject»)
4. Go inside myproject folder and rename lesson01.pnproj to anything you want (like «»myproject.pnproj»)
5. Double-click myproject.pnproj. Programmer’s Notepad should open.
6. Rename the project to whatever you want by right-clicking on the project name (originally «NeHe Lesson 01») and clicking on Rename in the popup menu.
7. Your source files should have a particular location (because of the current Makefile). Source files (.cpp, .c) should go in the «source» folder, and header files (.hpp, .h) should go in the «include» folder.
8. To build the project, go to the «Tools» menu, then click on «make». To clean the project, go to the «Tools» menu, then click on «clean». «run» probably doesn’t do anything yet, but you can set it up.
9. If you would like to change settings for source/header file location, or to add pre-build or post-build steps, you’ll have to change the Makefile.

Iam testing Pro/Toolkit with the help of Protoolkit_GSG.pdf which is available in the protoolkit installation. when i execute the make_install file in VC++, iam getting the error as listed below,

I’m very new at this, so please be patient with me if this is a silly error.
I followed this guide on how to compile the source code correctly. The only difference between that guide is that I’m using VS 2008.
For reference, I’m using RevDCM’s source code and Makefile, and I tried merging this Global Warming Mod. However, when I try to compile the source code, I get this error:
What exactly am I doing wrong?

I’m not very good at this, as I’ve never had a problem compiling, other then actual errors in my code (which throw completely different errors). This though:
NMAKE : fatal error U1073: don’t know how to make ‘clean’
Stop.
NMAKE : fatal error U1052: file ‘Final_Release’ not found
Leads me to believe you set up the compilation wrong. Go back and start from scratch. And when you initially set it up, try to compile a pure RevDCM build first, and then try to merge in the new source (you will need a fresh compile from scratch, because I’m sure the merge requires changes in header files), the reason to do this is just to make sure you’ve set up MSV 2008 properly, without any changes in code.
If I had to guess based on those errors you plugged in the wrong commands in the wrong spots, or have a simple typo. At least that’s what it looks like to me.

When someone else was having these problems they were trying to use the built-in VS 2008 make utility. They skipped installing VC++ 2003 Toolkit hoping to get a better compiler. After installing VC++ 2003 they were getting the error about Final_Release not existing, and IIRC it was a permissions thing, but I’m not 100% positive.
I suggest trying the make commands at the command-line. You need to make sure the bin folder of VC++ 2003 is on your path. Then issue «nmake Final_Release» in the folder where the makefile is.

Here as you see you got an error U7117. The problem probably in spaces in path to VS project. Try to create project in folder which won’t have spaces in it’s path and all will compile.

Another way to solve this problem is to check “Use Visual Studio project system” instead “Use BUILD system” in project properties. In this way your project will be compiled using VS tools, which isn’t good for making drivers, so the choice is yours.

Сначала необходимо выполнить первичную настройку сборочной среды. Этот процесс подробно описан в соответствующей статье.

Загрузите исходный код GDAL версии 1.6.1 http://download.osgeo.org/gdal/gdal161.zip или более свежий выпуск
http://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/wiki/DownloadSource.
Распакуйте архив.
[править] Сборка и установка
Запустите Visual Studio и выберите «File → Open → Project/Solution». Найдите в каталоге с распакованными исходными кодами GDAL файл makegdal80.vcproj и откройте его. Не предложение сконвертировать проект отвечаем утвердительно.
После импорта проекта, попробуйте щелкнуть правой кнопкой мыши на название проекта makegdal и выбрать «Build».
Если появится следующая ошибка, перейдите к примечанию 1.

Чтобы скомпилированными файлами можно было пользоваться, переместите gdal16.dll из корневой папки с исходным кодом GDAL в папку apps, в которой после компиляции должны были появиться исполняемые файлы.
Проверить инструменты можно запустив и папки apps один из них, например так:
gdalinfo --version
