Hello community,
Recently I was trying to use some of the MSI tools, like the ControlCenter. But when executed I get the error message «Please replace the ME version!». The ControlCenter starts, but shortly after windows reports problems with some related components, like «ControlCenter_Loading sopped working». Some of the components, like the fan control are not working properly.
I dug into the problem a bit and figured, that there is a problem with the ME firmware. The status page of the BIOS states that the «ME FW Version» is «N/A».
I tried to update the BIOS with several of the official MSI BIOSes from the support section (latest is 1.11), as well as updating with the beta versions from the forum. I used the integrated M-Flash tool with (and without) ME option (states that ME would be updated after reboot, but nothing), as well as the Forum HQ USB flashing tool — with no success.
I also tried the AFUD238S.EXE included with the BIOS downloads. But when I use the /ME option to update the ME firmware, at the end of the process I get the message «Error: BIOS does not support ME entire Firmware update» (or «…does not support ME Ignition Firmware update» when using the /MEUF option).
I was looking up and down the forums and it seems, whenever a member had this issue and @svet was posting a BIOS archive with ME firmware the problem was magically resolved. I did however not find such a file for my Z77A-GD55 board.
Although this is not the newest hardware, I hope you can help me resolving this issue.
Thanks in advance,
Alexx

Os is a good old Win7 64bit, which I’m quite content with. But I guess sooner or later though, I’ll have to switch to Win10. I’m still investigating hardware compatibility…

are you using this ME driver:
http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel7s_ime_mb.zip
or this:
http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_me81_win78_xp.zip
?

I was trying several ME driver versions from the MSI site as well as from the Intel site none of them worked. And also both the ones you linked to just produce an error message: «This system does not meet the minimal requirements for the installation of this software» (translated from my native OS language).
Also — as I mentioned — I’m not quite sure, that it’s a driver problem, since the status page of the BIOS states: «ME Firmware Version: N/A».
I’m really thankful for further ideas.

use this archive :
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ww456jlfpwq77sd/E7751IMS.1B0.rar?dl=0
and those flash steps:
1.) >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download the attached archive and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
F.) Boot to the USB and follow the directions. MEMTEST is included with the forum flash tool and it is recommended to run this prior to any flash.

It worked! Thanks a lot. The ME firmware version now correctly reads v.8.1.50.1456.
I was a bit surprised though, when I saw, that the actual BIOS file, provided in the post above is exactly the same as the latest from the official support site of the board. The only difference is, that the flash program in @Svet’s archive called «valcheck.com» differs from the one officially provided with the BIOS file, which is called «AFUD238S.EXE». During flashing I then also got a message, which may hint the actual cause of the problem: «PDR Region does not exist». (I think I read something about this on the forum in relation with this issue…)
Unfortunately the MSI ControlCenter, while not complaining anymore about a wrong ME version, is still not working properly («ControlCenter_Loading stopped working…»). But this may have other reasons I have to investigate further.
The ME firmware issue is solved. A big thanks again to @Svet!

well done, the message is expected and not error
about this:

I have the same issue, but the archive is gone. Is it possible to download it somewhere else?

I can only speculate here, the links on the ipmi firmware page all seem to be a different url suggesting its different firmwares.
seeing the release notes however seem to suggest otherwise a lot of different MB’s are named.
the first mail I got gave the 2.22 ipmi firmware and the wrong bios. If ipmi firmware is bound to the motherboard I have the wrong one installed.
maybe it would be interesting to physically compare 2.

This week I built a new PC. I attempted to install a 64bit Windows 7 legit copy last night (this is after a 5 day stint of repeatedly trying downloaded copies of windows 7). When I tried the legit copy, I BSOD’d instantly. Over the next 10 minutes, I BSOD’d another 4-5 times. While i was trying to install the burned copies, i was having the same problems except that the BSOD was occuring while windows files were expanding. After failing with the legit x64, I tried the legit x86. x86 went straight thru, no BSOD. My system specs are as follows:
EVGA p55 SLI mobo
Intel i5 quad core
4gb DDR3 ram
GeForce 9800GT
Any idea what’s going on here? I can provide any additional information as needed. Thanks in advance.

Bump, I’m also having this issue. Updated BIOS on a P8Z68-V Gen3 Board and I now cannot boot if my RAM is set to anything higher than 1333 and I am missing Turbo Multiplier option to overclock. There are a couple threads in the Asus forums with people having the same issue.

I had the same problem after updating the BIOS through ASUS Update and found a solution.
- Download this BIOS flasher: http://www.ami.com/support/downloads/amiflash.zip
- In the zip, navigate to: amiflashAptioAFUWIN
- Depending on your OS architecture, either open the 64 or 32 folder
- Open the zip in the folder you just opened
- Extract the folder within the zip
- Either restart your computer or close every application that’s running, this step is important!
- Click «Open» then browse to the latest BIOS file
- Under the Setup tab, tick the «Program All Blocks» check box (see below image)
- Click «Flash» and then wait. Don’t even move the mouse
- Restart your computer and then everything should be back to normal!

Good find. I found something similar but when I found it, I already had a new BIOS chip in the mail so I figured I would just wait and not bother. I do still have the old BIOS chip… maybe someday when I have time I will throw it back in and try it. Is it possible to flash the original BIOS using this method?
I do remember seeing this method in another thread and the community was only reporting a 60%ish success rate so that turned me off as well. Where did you find this at?

I didn’t attempt this method because I had already ordered a new BIOS chip. I think it came out to $24 after shipping. You can get them even cheaper on eBay for like $15…

Ahem, I suppose you all upgraded to 3207 bios 2 times in a row right ? I mean after you select the bios file in asus bios, it resets. Then you go into bios again and use the same file AGAIN. It’s written in the readme file, to flash 2 times in a row then clear cmos. This is for bios version 3xxx.

Good old ME problem, that can be easily solved by reflashing ME region with Intel Flash Programming Tool.
1. Download FTK from my forums.overclockers.ru post.
2. Unpack it to desktop, go to FTK/Win32 or FTK/Win64 folder, it depends of Windows version you have, copy your BIOS image file into it.
3.1. For Z77/X79 boards with CAP-files drag the BIOS file onto cap2bin.bat, getting bios.bin file, that has 8192Kb size.
3.2. For P67/Z68 boards with ROM-files simply rename the BIOS file to bios.bin.
4. Run meupd.bat as administrator using right-click meny.
If you see green «FPT Operation Passed» message, then all goes OK.
Do not worry about «PDR/GbE Region does not exist» or «Could not communicate with HECI» messages, they are normal.
5. Power off the PC, remove power completely for about 30 sec and power on again. It is needed to reset ME, which is standby-powered.
Go to BIOS Setup->Main and look at ME Version string, which must be not N/A.
Look around to see your setting and multipliers are back.
this FTK!!!

Why can’t I update? currently im on bios 300.
When I used afuwinguix64, it said «a1 Error: BIOS does not support ME Entire Firmware update»
What should I do? I really need to activate the amd-v feature.
Thank you very much

that’s weird, ME is stand for intel management engine, but this x550iu should be an AMD device.
but anyways, if you just need to activate amd-v, trust me, it already activated by default.
amd has a bad virtualization compatibility at several program (like android studio)

the default bios also has a temp limits at 75 degrees.
yes we can edit those values by editing the bios file,
but there is another ways to change it without bios edits, is by editing the PowerPlayTable registry.
you can look at here :
https://github.com/yuune/various-x550iu-…ter/regist
just compare the pptable, find the difference, and change it if you want to adjust the values.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Finally I could flash the bios using your modded bios.
Strange things happened, my LAN network and the RX460 were not found, they just went missing.
Any idea about this?
Oh i guess that makes sense when you said amd has bad virtualization compatibility. Is that the reason why my LDmanager (similar to Nox) can only use 1 processor instead of 4 processors?
And also is that why i can not install phoenix os into my laptop?
Im sorry for my questions, im silly at this kind of things

I ask this because when playing games the CPU clock speed dips down to around 2.2-2.6GHZ even with temperatures low on both the CPU (69 to 73 degrees) and the GPU at 74 degrees max, I don’t know what is causing this and have been searching the forums for months looking for an answer. The issue is more pronounced in the game «Battlefield 1», where the speed in Main Menu is at 3.48GHz but as soon as the game begins rendering the CPU speed drops to 2.2-2.6GHz. I’d understand if I was using the iGPU to play the game because it would need power from the CPU because they’re both on the same chip, but this happens even when using the dedicated GPU (RX 460). I’m wondering if you know how to solve this problem.
And for the temperature problem I used Radeon Settings to set max GPU temperature to 75 degrees since the GPU and CPU share the same heat pipe, the RX 460 was causing the high CPU temperatures. But even with temps low, the throttling still occurs in games and in games only. CPU stress tests don’t show this behavior either, just in things that require both the CPU and GPU to work intensively. My power adapter is 120W if you need to know and my CPU TDP is 35W. Wondering if you could help me
Rizki77, did you find any solution?
I did a similar mistake. I changed the memory clock to 800mhz. Then I couldn’t boot as well. Removing CMOS battery didn’t work.
Perhaps I by mistake damaged the motherboard when I removed the battery.
It’s fun until it’s not fun anymore
Im so sorry for what happen to you. I think it will be a lesson for us . After im searching all possible way to recover it, finally im giving up.
I brought my laptop to repair center and they reflashing the bios chip with some external tool (i forget the name) And its normal again now. and if you want to know, it cost about 40 bucks.
Oh yeah. I won’t be modifying my laptop anymore in the future.
It’s interesting though, as it seems that the bios doesn’t reset when removing CMOS battery. Anyone got a clue why?
I will probably need to let my local guy look at it. Otherwise I guess a motherboard replacement is my last chance. A new motherboard costs ~200 usd on Ebay
