- Can’t Open World in MCEdit 2
MCEdit 2.0.0 and 0.1.7.1 crashes when opening worlds opened by 1.13.2 #961
MCEdit Unified bug report template. For MCEdit 2.0 bugs see here : https://github.com/mcedit/mcedit2
Description of Issue: Unhandled exception when opening worlds opened with 1.13.2.
MCEdit Version: 2.0.0-beta6 and 0.1.7.1 (most used)
Minecraft Version the world was last opened in: 1.13.2
Operating System: Windows 10 Professional
How the error started:
= Launch the 1.13.2.
= Open the world that is previously opened in 1.12.2 or lower.
= Things in the world went all right until. Opening the world in question using MCEdit.
Alternative:
= Try opening the old world affected by the 1.13.2 update using the old Minecraft version (1.12.2 and below)
= And then the world is, boom, blank.

MCedit 2 error
I drwnloaded MCedit (topmost version in the download-list) to try something.
But if i try to open my world, i get this:
‘PySide.QtGui.QLineEdit.setText’ called with wrong argument types:

TypeError: ‘PySide.QtGui.QLineEdit.setText’ called with wrong argument types:

What can i do to open my world successfully in the editor?
The world must have been loaded in Minecraft version 1.13 or higher.
I once loaded one of my maps in 1.13 and tried loading it in mcedit 2 only to get that same error, forcing me to use an outdated backup of that same world made in 1.12.2. MCedit 2 or any other version of MCedit can only load up to 1.12.2 at the moment. It will take a while for the developers to make a working 1.13 mcedit due to the fact that 1.13 changed the world save format, you can load 1.12 worlds in 1.13 but not 1.13 to 1.12, it just won’t work.
If you are planning to use MCedit, don’t use 1.13

64bit Mcedit2 2.0.0-beta7 I have tried another version, I forget which one and gave me the same error! What could this be from? I was able to load a factions world, but not my vanilla or depleted world? Whats the deal with this? I hope I get emails about this because I might forget of my issue.
What version of Minecraft did you use to open those worlds, and did you also make sure to select that version while opening the world (the ‘Version’ option at the top of the open dialog)?
It could be caused by using the wrong version, so that MCEdit can’t fully process the world.
And the world does open normally within Minecraft? If it’s a regular non-modded world I’m almost tempted to blame file corruption but that seems a bit odd.
This is a long shot: try copying the whole folder to a new one. So basically: control-c and control-v within the %appdata%.minecraftsaves folder. Then try to use MCEdit on the new copy. That will probably also fail but.
Also: do you get the same results if you try to view the world? So instead of edit click ‘view’?
When I go to click «open» I have no real view, BUT, If i copy it (Which I can’t, the world is on a 1 tb hdd an the world is 36 GB) and I have a 120 gb ssd and am unable to make space, I can make minecraft direct to that world.
The word does open and play nice in game. Yes I had the server stopped when trying to open the world.
I will direct the minecraft location to a copy of the world on an external hdd, load it, then try to use MCedit, I doubt it will work though.
EDIT: I loaded the world in singleplayer, tried mcedit, no luck. I made another world in that exact same directory and Mcedit was able to reconize and open it. Not sure what the deal is. Possible a conversion fail early on with old->avnil? I’ll test this.
EDIT2: Made an old world, Beta 1.4 went right to 1.8 then to 1.10 then to 1.12.2, which is essentially what the server world experienced, I was able to view and open the test world.
I dont get why i can’t open the regular, I will regenerate the level.dat, I have several backups. I believe that is the issue, I will guess its not, so guessing its not it might be? hmm
Edit 3: Jeez, I did that and Mcedit won’t even respond right when I open.
Edit 4: Ok I changed the directory, manually go to open world with the new level.dat and it goes to open, but stops responding on 87% «Loading Overworld Dimension» Ugh. In the console, no errors are thrown. 🙁
Edit 5: I can’t even open the end or nether worlds. Ugh. I even tried McEdit unified, crashed too.

So I was testing MCEdit to see if I could make some map art. I made a new world using the minecraft 1.14.3 optifine client (the client is the newest version of optifine), set up the corners and opened mcedit to see this message:

There will not be a MCEdit for 1.13 because the last update changed to much to update MCEdit.
The Developers of MCEdit moved on and started a new editor «the Amulet Editor», which is going to be a new MCEdit for Minecraft 1.13 and newer.
See this: www.amulet-editor.com/
Say something silly, Laugh ’til it hurts, Take a risk, Sing out loud, Rock the boat, Shake things up, Flirt with disaster, Buy something frivolous, Color outside the lines, Cause a scene, Order dessert, Make waves, Get carried away, Have a great day!

Thanks though it isn’t available yet I’m going to sign up to stay up to date. I guess it’s manual editing until it comes out.
