An error occurred writing the file make sure you have write access

Hi voDKa — Welcome to the MSZ Forum

Which exact version of Vegas Pro are you using ?
Which build version do you have installed ?
Go to Help/About to find the build version.

What are you Project Properties set at ?
Upload a screen shot to the forum.

Which Render As Format and Template did you select ?
Example: Magix AVC/AAC — Internet 1080p

If you are trying to render to an uncompressed format, that will be the likely cause of your problem .

At the bottom of the Render As window, make sure you have set the Output Folder Location correctly.
Sometimes people accidentally have this set to the wrong folder, which may cause problems.

If you have been using Vegas Pro on the same computer for a very long time, the Temporary Files Cache may be full or become corrupted.
Doing a full program reset normally fixes this problem. It will restore all settings back to defaults and clean the cache.
Instructions here:
www.moviestudiozen.com/doctor-zen-faq/573-how-to-reset-sony-software-to-default-settings

In case there is a problem with your folder location, start a new test project and add just 10 seconds of video.
Save the project and go directly to Render As.
If it works OK, then you know the problem is being caused by something in the actual project you are working on.

ℹ️ Remember to turn everything off at least once a week, including your brain, then sit somewhere quiet and just chill out.
Unplugging is the best way to find solutions to your problems. If you would like to share some love, post a customer testimonial or make a donation.

The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:

Hi, same problem occured, the solution would be Open VS Code as Administrator.

Any idea on how to do this in Ubuntu?
If I run sudo code —user-data-dir=»

Edit: Spoke (typed?) too soon. I ran VSC with the previous command and installed the Fix Checksum extension on this new, fresh Admin VSC instance and later ran the Fix Checksums: Apply command. Closed everything and reopened VSC as normal and no more errors.

Can anyone suggest me a different solution to this problem?

Hello did you fix it?

I was able to run the vscode as superuser, but now the problem is that the window is totally blank, I don’t know if it has something to do with the line I used.
sudo code —user-data-dir=»

/.vscode-root» —no-sandbox
When I hover the mouse over the window I see that I can select the options for a clean installation of vscode, but clicking on them does not change anything. Can someone try to use it and tell me if it happens the same?

Well I tried this and it worked. It’s not necesary to start VS with root just give some permissions with this comand.

You can add the path where your extension was installed or give access to all extensions.

Question

try to export pst to a unc path- works locally

Permisssion set on share per ms docs.

was hoping to run script per OU but cant get one to work.

[PS] C:>New-MailboxExportRequest -FilePath «\servernameTESTuser.pst» -MRSServer «cas-b0x» -mailbox user
The server or share name specified in the path may be invalid, or the file could be locked.
+ CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (0:Int32) [New-MailboxExportRequest], RemotePermanentException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : 914C862C,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.RecipientTasks.NewMailboxExportRequest

Answers

I would like to clarify the following things for troubleshooting:

1. The user account that you use to run the cmdlet needs to be part of Windows domain and must have permissions granted to the «Exchange Trusted Subsystem» group.

2. You can create only one export request at a time per .pst file. This is because the .pst file is locked as in-use when the request begins to run.

3. If the issue persists, I recommend you use a local shared folder to see if it works.

What’s more, here is a thread for your reference.

Question

I tried to backup the master key by the following syntax :

OPEN MASTER KEY DECRYPTION BY PASSWORD = ‘mypassword’

BACKUP MASTER KEY TO FILE = ‘c:tempmaster’ ENCRYPTION BY PASSWORD = ‘mypassword’

but it failed and i got the following message:

Cannot write into file ‘c:tempmaster’. Verify that you have write permissions, that the file path is valid, and that the file does not already exist.

NB: I am using the «sa» user to execute this command.

I know that we have a security permission issue , but where and how ?

Answers

I forgot another reason why backup may fail: the backup operations for keys won’t replace any files, make sure the file name is unique. Let me know if changing the name of the file worked.

BTW. If you create backups of your master keys on a regular schedule and regenerate the keys (which is highly recommended), it is a good idea to keep an archive of your old keys (protected in a safe place) in case you need to access data from some old backup.

SQL Server Engine

In this case the permissions check are done by Windows to verify that the SQL Server service account has access to create the file. Most likely you are running SQL Server using a low privileged domain account (which is highly recommended). To check the name of the service account being used, you can use SQL Server Configuration Manager (SCM).

Rather than granting permissions directly to this service account on local Windows resources, you can grant the permissions to the corresponding Windows group that SQL Server 2005 setup created for you. You can find the name of this group in the local users and groups management tool in Windows (Computer Management tool).

The name for the SQL Server 2005 groups should be based on the following pattern:

For example: SQLServer2005MSSQLUser$MY_SERVER$MSSQLSERVER

Once you have found the name for the service account group, you can grant the proper permissions on Windows resources (such as write permissions on folders or read permissions on files you need to import).

I hope this information will help you,

SQL Server Engine

first Thanks for your reply.

I tried that also but it didn’t work,

I am still getting this error. I have done what was suggested. I have even granted everyone full access to the folder I am trying to write to with no luck.

I am running SQL 2008 and Windows Vista 64 bit.

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: Oh and the file does not already exist.

I got it working now.

The example on Microsoft’s site only pointed to a folder location and thus I was not providing a file name. I provided a file name in the path and it created the files where I wanted them.

Thanks for the heads up and I hope this post helps someone else in the future.

There was no comment here by Microsoft. Please fix this in your documentation. It sucks going through incorrect documentation examples and wasting time.

Documentation is very clear:

Specifies the complete path, including file name, of the file in which the certificate is to be saved. This can be a local path or a UNC path to a network location. The default is the path of the SQL Server DATA folder.

From; http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178578.aspx
This posting is provided «AS IS» with no warranties, and confers no rights.

i’m having the same problem. My Server is SQl 2008. I’m trying to backup SMK in my local folder. i’m executing the command as myself. I’m a sysadmin in the machine. I’m providing full path with file name and extension. Still getting the error:

Msg 15240, Level 16, State 1, Line 1

Cannot write into file ‘C:Usersm096360Workroegps903q$dmdev01.snk’. Verify that you have write permissions, that the file path is valid, and that the file does not already exist.

Any suggestion, please?

Where is this path? On the same machine as SQL Server is running? Does the service account for SQL Server have access to this folder?

Generally, it is better to start a new question, rather than posting a question to a thread from yesteryear.

Erland Sommarskog, SQL Server MVP, esquel@sommarskog.se

BACKUP CERTIFICATE ServerCert TO FILE = ‘D:MSSQLCERTServerCert’
WITH PRIVATE KEY (FILE = ‘D:MSSQLCERTServerKey’ ,
ENCRYPTION BY PASSWORD = ‘pas$word’ );
GO

Fix for: Cannot write into file.

Be sure that the certificate file name and the private key file name are different.

Keep on Truck’in

I have to agree with everyone on this documentation. The documentation relies on the opinion of the person writing the information. Frankly, I don’t know if it is enough just to have this many disagreements regarding the documentation but, quote frankly, the road to my house is a road, not a road and a specific house. If I want someone to find my house, I give them the road and specify the road number.

One might interpret this two ways. First, am I stupid enough to give them the road and not the house number? Answer, NO — I will include this information as a second piece of information.

Two — the other interpretation — road to my house is a road.

So path to file means — (what is the subject — oh, subject — path) and what else — a modifier of the subject. The wording here has a lot of semantic overtones. Even as I write here, I find the whole thing murky.

If I were documenting (and I am not the best by far) I am certain I would say path and file rather than path to file.

Given the concensus here, perhaps you might consider modifying the information in the documentation.

Quoting one of the folks above, «it sucks». This post would not exist if it had been written clearly from the beginning.

ICACLS F:DistrПАПКАМОЕЙSUPERПРОГРАММЫ /setintegritylevel H /T /C /L /inheritance:e
Или обработайте сразу весь диск, (F:в данном случае)
ICACLS F: /setintegritylevel H /T /C /L /inheritance:e
После этого папка и вложенные папки получат нужный уровень интеграции и запись во временную папку станет возможной вновь.

  • Hi Totalnet,

I would like to clarify the following things for troubleshooting:

    1. The user account that you use to run the cmdlet needs to be part of Windows domain and must have permissions granted to the «Exchange Trusted Subsystem» group.

    2. You can create only one export request at a time per .pst file. This is because the .pst file is locked as in-use when the request begins to run.

    3. If the issue persists, I recommend you use a local shared folder to see if it works.

What’s more, here is a thread for your reference.

Hi, so got a new M.2 and installed a fresh OS. Now whenever i try to open files from my drive, some of them are unable to open and i get the «An error occured reading the file. Make sure you have read access to the file/folder and that it is not corrupted». When i boot from my other SSD, the file opens just fine, but I need to get it to work on the New OS install and format my old OS ssd… Also this happens randomly and not all of the files on drive g:

Please help! Thank you!

Go to your Configurationscreen/User accounts and make yourself the administrator of that computer with all the rights, also for every file all the full read and write rights.

Made myself admin, the owner of drive G:, full control … and same problem, just booted to other ssd and its working fine but i need it on this m.2. HELP will be REALLY APPRECIATED !

Admin account won’t help on W10, admin is not admin with all rights anymore since W10, ALWAYS do this after a fresh install with W10:

Just wondering. You say you installed a «fresh OS» on a newly purchased M.2.

1. Was it an actual install, or did you perform a «clone» with included software, or say some other free version, or even a possible Windows Restore from back-up?

2. If a true «fresh install», was this the only drive in the system (CD, DVD, Blu-Ray drives not included) when you «freshly installed»?

Also wondering why you still would have the «old OS drive» in your system, even if the computer boots to the new M.2. Once the «fresh OS» was installed, upon re-boot, you should have shut down the computer, disconnected the «old OS drive», then continued to boot.

Possibly more help by answering some of the above, though this is more of a «Computer Issue» to begin with, and not really a Magix Vegas Pro/Movie Studio/DVD Architect etc. problem. So, what you would be asking for, besides some «helpful advice», is «Free» computer repair/diagnosis.

1. Yeap clean install since this new M.2 only has 4kb block size or something so i couldn’t clone it. When i did install it it was the new M.2 plus the old M.2 .. i selected the new one and installed it on that., had to disconnect my sata SSD ) Drive G: where my files are…. because it woudn’t let me install windows(typical problem)….

I still have my old OS cause i need to move a lot of files, its 500GB m.2 and i was going to use that as storage for my media files since its quick and i do multicam…

are you saying that if i do a fresh install and disconnect my old OS drive, i might not have these issues? thx!

Ok guys, after days of trying to open files and doing all kinds of crazy stuff I figured it out, Once you save files in v 16 424, you’re no longer able to open the files in v16 361…… i didn’t try any earlier version before 361, this is a major headache, 424 is nuts, when you make a cut it adds extra frame before the clip and makes auto fade….. this is driving me crazy, magix you really need to release a quick fix for this bug
