Application error occurred in cfd post

An error occurred initializing cfx pre application error occurred in cfx pre

Hi All
I am new to CFX, initially, I started with a 2D model in the design modeler and meshed it using Ansys mesh, but I had a problem while going to the setup tab
it came up with the error as posted below, I thought inf CFX we can’t deal with surfaces and later I just modeled the same with 3D( by considering smaller thickness) but still I am getting the same problem

Can anyone of you help with this, please

Error-1
An error occurred initializing CFX-Pre: Application error(s) occurred in CFX-Pre. Please see the messages view for further details.

Error 2: Failed to export model.

Error 3: There was a problem importing the mesh from the requested file.
The importing process reported the following problem:

Model «Model» does not have a valid mesh associated with it.

Body B18 is an unsuppressed surface body that does not enclose a volume. Only 3D volume meshes can be imported. If your model contains valid bodies, as well as surface bodies, then suppress the surface bodies and remesh before continuing.

Hi Thanks for your response

as I said I did considered 3D geometry but also I got the same error, after seeing you text I even tried again it shows the same

Hi all,
Thank you very much for your time I really appreciate it
I got solved that problem, I made the surface bodies (which I created while drawing geometry) suppressed and tried to import, I worked

Hello. Hope all are well. I just encountered an error while launching CFD-Post. It says
«An error occurred initializing CFD-Post: Application error(s) occurred in CFD-Post. Please see the messages view for further details.» With the

Warning «Internal error detected: Parameter ‘Nusselt Number’ is not recognized.»

Warning «Cannot create an expression with the same name as an object. (Nusselt Number a)»

It was a very important project file. I am really worried. Would be extremely grateful for assistance in retrieving all my expressions, charts, and stuff in CFD-Post. Hope to hear from someone soon. Thanks.

I have to disclose that I am an absolute newbie and this might be a silly question. I am working through one of the CFX tutorials, but I can’t seem to import the mesh I created into CFX-Pre. (I am using version 12.1 of Ansys workbench and CFX-Pre.)

I created the geometry and mesh as described in the tutorial. Ansys workbench shows that both elements are valid and up-to-date. When I launch CFX-Pre, the mesh file doesn’t load and instead I get the following error message:

***
CFX-Pre Application Error

ERROR
It was not possible to extract any mesh from the file:
/home/Research files/CFD/Tutorial/Tutorial_files/dp0/CFX/MECH/CFX1.cmdb.

Please note that a Workbench installation is normally required to import this type of file.

When I try to import the CFX-mesh file instead, I get the following error message:

I have just finished generating a mesh in the CFX mesh program. When I close out the mesh, the workbench looks like I would expect it to (Check marks next to Geometry and Mesh, Refresh symbol next to setup, question marks next to solution and results).

When I attempt to open CFX-Pre by clicking on the Setup button, I get an error that says Error in CFX Pre. Under «Show Details», I get the following:

ERROR
It was not possible to extract any mesh from the file:
C:UsersAJ HuntersDocumentsMNE Project14Deg14Degree_filesdp0CFXMECHCFX1.cmd b.

Please note that a Workbench installation is normally required to import this type of file.

Any help would be appreciated.

As a side not, after the error, the Setup goes back to a question mark.

This is almost exactly the same as another geometry that I have already imported and which works fine.

I have the same problem with version 17.1. Is there any tip how to resolve this problem? Or do I need to reinstall the ANSYS?

Thank you for replies.

sometimes it helps to right-click on the cell and select «reset». Caution: all changes in that module/cell are being deleted. So in case of the setup cell, save the *.ccl manually and load the CCL back in once the mesh was read.

Another test would be to open PRE stand-alone and load the mesh.

did anyone really resolve the problem? I encountered the same problem just now:

— Importing the Geometry works
— Generating a nice Mesh works
— ERROR when opening CFX Pre — as I got the message in German, I’ll try translating it:

«gtmDSDBReader.exe does not work anymore.
A problem prevents the correct execution of the program. Close the program.»

Afterwards, there is another ERROR-message inside ANSYS (I’ll blend out the file paths with ***):

«Update failed for the Setup component in Ventilator. Application Error in CFX-Pre: ERROR
The supplied file name, ***.gmo, can not be opened as a lock file, **.gmo.lck,exists.
If this is the result of a previous failed run then try deleting the
lock file and repeating the operation.
Unable to import the requested mesh:
Type = «GTM_PARTIAL_DSDB».
File = «***.cmdb».
Generic options = » -model 0″.
Specific options = «-contact read -names ‘CFXMesh ACMO_Simulation’».»

I tried deleting the lockfile but that doesn’t work.

I read above, that updating the gtmDSDBReader.exe might help.
I could try that on Monday (I need out IT-department for that) but the weird thing is, that earlier today I didn’t have any problems with another workbench project. Yesterday I even did basically the same project as the one I have problems with now (only the geometry changed slighty) and I had no problems at all.

Resetting the setup does not help either.

I’d be grateful for any ideas!
Thanks!

I was finally able to resolve the problem:

There was a bug hidden inside the mesh — a very weird element which didn’t comply with my settings and wasn’t apparent from the outside.
Despite a green check mark in workbench for the Meshing, this one element seems to have brought gtmDSDBReader.exe crashing.

I found the problem with the help of the mesh quality anaylser and could fix it by redefining my inflations.

Thus: A simple answer for a very complex and confusing error!

i’m working on the analysis of a fan and i have succesfully set up and solved and Fluid Flow component system (CFX).

After changing the mesh (generating of the new mesh was successful), the update for the CFX setup failed with the following message:

I’m working with Ansys 17.1 on windows 7 and win 10, different OS same problem. Does anyone have an idea to solve this problem?
I Don’t want to set up a complete new component system.

Thank you in advance!

I also had a similar problem a couple of days ago, though not the same message. To solve it fixed a little problem in the geometry and redefined a couple of sizings and it updated well.

Also, an alternative solution that also worked is to export the mesh to a FLUENT format file (.msh i think) and then create a new proyect and import that mesh directly and then cfxpre should work fine.

thank you for possible solutions. I tested both of them with the same result.
I still don’t know, why the initial mesh is working and after changing/adding/deleting some mesh properties it stucks.

And i also can’t find any comparable problems in the forum.

I have found a solution. After opening the «corrupted» Setup, i have exported the CCL via File —> Export —> CCL. Next step is closing the CFX-Pre. In workbench «Clear generated data» on the setup of the Fluid flow. Openening the setup again with an initial state. In my case i have to generate some additional mesh regions in the CFX-Pre. Renaming these mesh locations according to the corrupt mesh before. Loading the CCL state and finally solve some problems occuring by bad links (in my case some wrong connections in the interfaces).
