Hello,

I just recently got the urge to play Diablo II: LOD again, as a side-bar for WoW and I have run into a problem. I have purchased 3 Diablo II’s after having one stolen & another lost, and now a third won’t read.

I have updated most if not all of my hardware drivers, and i read your FAQ on this topic:

«consider CD & DVD emulation software like Daemon Tools (Free) or Alcohol (Trial). Simply dump the «Diablo II Play Disc» on your hard-drive using IsoBuster.»

I downloaded Daemon Tools & IsoBuster, but have absolutely no idea how to «dump» the Diablo II: LOD CD onto my hard drive. I made attempts to «extract the raw data» from the disc, then tried to «mount the cue» only to find that Daemon Tools said there was no data…nore could i locate it (even in the file i extrated the raw data to).

I know Diablo II is rather old now :(, But i thought I could get some help so I never have to deal w/ one of these CD problems again!

~Thanks, Yauchy
*I looked throught the forum and could not locate a thread on this subject*

Basically you only need your CD Key of your bought version. You can use any Diablo 2 Disc to install and play the game. Just use your CD key. We don’t support any of the other ways to play the game that you mentioned, the only thing we support is using a legitimate bought copy of the game in your CD or DVD drive.

If it won’t install I suggest cleaning your CD, if it still does not work try installing your disc on another computer and see if it will install. If it does not work then it is probably the disc then you are dealing with Blizzard manufacturer warranty.

However, if the Diablo 2 disc is not compatible with your CD Rom drive the only advice we can give you here is to get the latest drivers for your CD Drive or get a new CD Rom drive.

ok, it says «Diablo 2 failed to run. Please make sure your Diablo 2 Expansion Disc is in your CD-ROM drive, then click on ‘Retry’.»

But the problem is that I have bought D2 + LoD from battlenet shop and doesnt have the CD :/ Does anyone know can i get this work without the CD?

    Thx for the help!

Sounds like you’re missing d2xmusic.mpq and d2xvideo.mpq from the LoD cd.

Also, are you fully patched to 1.13?

If needed, I could send you my files, or you could find an ISO and mount the image for LoD.

If you bought them from the battle.net shop, try logging into a public realm like East first before installing Annihilus at all and make sure it updates your Diablo II all of the way to 1.13d. After its fully up to date and you can sign on on normal servers, make a new folder and copy all of your Diablo II folder into it, then install Annihilus in that new folder.

Hi guys,

I’m running into some CD-ROM problems with Daiblo II. I’ve just installed Diablo II on my system, and the install was flawless. However, whenever I try to run the game, I encounter the following error:

"Diablo II was unable to detect a Disc in your CD-ROM drive. Please make sure your Diablo II Play Disc is in your CD-ROM drive, then click on ‘Retry’."

I can click on Retry till my fingers bleed, but I still get the same error message. I’ve verified, repeatedly, that the Play Disc is in fact in my CD-ROM drive. Now, here’s some info about my computer that may help you to determine the problem.

I’m running Windows 2000 Pro. I’ve got two CD-ROM drives: a Plextor 40x Max and a Plextor 8/20 Burner, both on an Adaptec 2930C SCSI card. The burner is on a lower SCSI ID than the reader. I’ve tried placing the disc in both drives, but that produces the same results (the error above) each time.

I’ve tried contacting Blizzard tech support, but their phones are always busy and they didn’t answer my e-mail. (Shmucks…) Any ideas as to how to fix the problem? Thanks in advance!

I’m using a plextor 40x max,Plextor12x CD-rw, and toshiba dvd-rom to but i have no problems (I use the plex 40x). Weird

I get this sometimes if I’ve put another disc in the drive for something else and then switch back to the D2 disc it doesn’t realize that I’ve switched back. I go into my computer and ‘refresh’ and it now recognizes that D2 is in the drive and works correctly.

Hmm…still a no go. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

had the same problem with my pioneer DVD 40X/10X.
I had to install my Lite On 40X in order to install Diablo II

If reinstalling it under a different cd romd rive does not work., try using one of the new patches for diablo 2. I think they may have fixed it in the new patch 1.02

Hmm odd, the game works through either my 10x40pioneer or my plext 8/20 burner. Course it crashes after a while using the pioneer because it can’t read the music %#@ file anymore. Make sure you don’t have a virtual cd program installed, those throw games off.

Straight from the Diablo 2 manual:

Q: I’m trying to run Diablo 2 under Windows 2000, but it won’t recognize my CD

A: In Windows 2000, you must be logged in s a user with Administration privileges on your local machine in order for the game to properly install and play.

Hope that helps.

Straight from the Diablo 2 manual:

Hope that helps.

First, sorry for bringing up a REALLY old thread but as you may know Diablo 3 will be released really soon (early 2012), and I cant wait for it. I decided to play Diablo 2 while waiting for the next game.

Unfortunatelly I was not able to install the game because my new computer does not recognize the CD.

Does anyone have a solution for me?

I googled all around the web and found this thread. Thats why I am posting here.

Any help is much appreciated..!

Also, does anyone on this forum is in the Diablo 3 beta ? (or knows a way to get a Diablo 3 beta key)

Register Diablo 2 on blizzards site and you can download it from your blizzard account. As to the Beta just go to your blizzard account and go into beta preferences and add Diablo 3.

Necro-thread-mancer!

Yes, I think they have it downloadable now like the others said but I haven’t tried it. Good luck.
