KTAG Checksum Error When Saving Backup

Can someone please tell me if there is anything wrong with this ktag clone backup dump?

I keep getting checksum error and not sure what to do.

Hi, I’m using KTAG Clone. Sticker on it says (HW 7.020) and (SW 2.23).
The Ksuite I’m using for KTAG is 2.25 however (not sure if that makes a difference).

I uploaded the picture as a zip because forum keeps resizing image for some reason.
The message says: «Checksum error, send the software vendor the backup file»
Error only pops up after I type in filename and click save.

UPDATE: I found a download of Ksuite 2.23 online and installed and read again and getting the same message.
Also compared dump to the one I obtained from 2.25 and they match.

Thanks for your suggestion, I do have MS Visual C++ 2005 installed but the problem persists.
I will try with a different computer.

I tried on different computer and made sure MS Visual C++ 2005 but getting the same error.

Let me clarify that the procedure reaches 100%, then asks me for filename to save to, after I click save I get this error. I’ve read many threads with similar problem but it happens at 99% so I wonder if the dump is OK maybe?

try 1. install original k-suite software 2. del folder ksuite ori (c:\KSuite) 3. put folder (KSuite clone) instead ori ksuite

Thanks again, that is how I installed it. I gave up on Ktag, trying to clone using KessV2 instead, hopefully it works. Otherwise I don’t know what else to do.

I think I understand what is going on. I found a blog post saying Continental Mss60 are not cloneable and must be matched instead so I think I will go that route instead. Thanks for your help!

I’m not sure about not being able to clone the tool, at least you should be able to read the file, and you’re not able to. Try to use Ksuite 2.23 instead of 2.25.

It happen to me with an EDC16 and I’ve managed to read with galletto v54.

I had same issue with edc16 checksum error after saving backup turned out to be corrupted flash !(hope this helps someone if find since its old thread)

Only earlier MSS60 can be cloned! Later models one processor side is bloecked.

Hi, and what is the way out of this? I tried to update my MSS60 using VINFKFP and the process did not complete until the end, now DME does not get in comunication ! Where can I get a full dump for DME recovery? if I have a full dump, can I restore it with K-TAG?

Does the dme respond at all in tool32 or inpa or WinKFP? If so try reflashing with WinKFP. I’d just use the update function — it’ll figure out the VIN and such from there on its own.

The fact of the matter is that DME does not react and it does not connect! Brick!

Hello bros. I’ll chime in with my experience of ktag clone checksum error:

in Ktag slave (full backup) ver – read and write ok

in Ktag master – if i want to read only flash (ex. sid 803) or micro (ex. edc17cp14) at end of reading 99% it write checksum error and every file is different.

ok solved, works ok. Now i can do to read and write good in master ver.

Here, i how to solve this problem

Solution is very easy.

If You have problem with checksum when R/W only flash, Your OS dont have C++ library. Two way:
– download C++ libarary from net -> instal it
or
– download from alientech website ksiute 1.85 -> install it, it will install C++ automatically -> remove dir C:KSiute -> Replace it with KSiute dir which You get from Your clone supplier -> restart WIN -> be happy with Your master ktag.

Solution tested and works on 3 computers.

DONT START KSIUTE WITH YOUR CLONE BEFORE YOU REPLACE KSIUTE DIRECTORY!!!

I think it is helpful and make less stress for ktag clone users.

Some users feedback they have a same problem with Ktag and/or Kess v2 Master checksums error eg. the units will not calculate checksums when loading files. And this error happens on both Chinese clone Ktag/Kess and EU clone ones.

Then why Ktag / Kess checksums error and how to prevent it happens?

At first, I also have this error, but finally I find out the reason, and I hope I share here to help others.

Let’s go!

According to this ECU, you must do a full read and then straight after that you must do a full write. After you’ve done that, the ECU is open for you to load your tunes based on partial reads and writes. The reason for the full read and full write is that it takes off the tuning protection on the ECU.

I did a full read a month ago, and only did a full write a week ago. Whenever I tried to write the tune file, the ECU would be bricked and come back with a checksum error after the write. So the secret is to do the write directly after the read. I did this with a FGTECH V54 but the process is the same for Kess. I now write my custom tunes with Kess to the ECU, and KSuite corrects the checksums for the partial writes.

The process is different for other ECUs I’d imagine.

Master K-TAG ECU Programming Tool for bikes, cars, trucks, tractors. As katg version is 1.89, many customers update it when get it. Then they meet a problem: checksum or update error when use the Ktag V1.89.

K-tag symptom from a customer:

Ktag 6.070 and med17.4 checksum error on write mod file.. is it just me or is this a general clone problem.
no matter what i try it will not write mod file(checksum error) ori is fine backup and restore is fine, this is the only ecu i have had a problem with.
i have tried 3 tools all from different supliers 3x computers and 4x software same result…

possible reasons:

1- the data read is incorrect

2- the car is not included the vehicle list (ktag deos not support your model)

note: “checksum error” is not related with ktag device

successful solutions shared by forum members:

1- use Ksuite 2.15 version

2- Rename ksuite folder to ksuite.old, install ksuite 2.15, delete ksuite folder, and rename ksuite.old to ksuite. now all is working!

But most people would like the third solution–>

3- use K-TAG 6.070 Ksuite 2.10 NO CHECKSUM ERROR

tips:

if you chose to write mod file you should to check in software only flash – maps to program not all options

Как-то странно сейчас считал MED9.1, Passat B6, 2.0 TFSI, 200hp, 2007my. При сохранении файла выдало ошибку CheckSum Error. Прочитал второй раз, все нормально сохранилось. В хексе есть небольшое отличие файлов.

Кто-то тут про стоковые файлы вроде бы писал. Должна быть машинка Альфа Ромео 159, с MED7.6.1

В разделе хелп скачал стоковые файлы на этот протокол. Файлы упали в папку /res

Файлы под паролем. Кто если делал подобным методом. Как все происходит ? При идентификации как-то файл автоматически выдается ? Все, как-то непонятно.

Сегодня подключился к Альфа Ромео. Выбрал ID, Кесс подключился, считал ID, при сохранении ID, сразу уведомил, что сохранена оригинальная прошивка в ту же папку. Проверил, действительно, сохранен сток.

обращаем Ваше внимание, что теперь у производителя подписка корректно

продляется только с даты окончания предыдущей подписки. Если продлять

после нее, то обновления за неоплаченный переод они не высылают.

Да, вообще, ситуация так и не ясна до конца. Сегодня собрал всю волю и средства в кулак, буду оплачивать. И то не знаю. По сути у меня подписка закончилась 20 апреля, последнее обновление было 16 апреля вроде бы. Т.е. за время отсутствия подписки обнов не было. Вот как продлить теперь, чтобы не попасть. Либо уже по факту, либо все-таки с момента окончания подписки…

Кстати я там замучил всех вопросами. Вчера мне ответили тоже самое.

Вообще должно быть так, оплатил получил подписку на год с момента окончания предыдущей.

Они за появление отломов уже нам должны. Отлом стоит как подписка, так получается выгодней его каждый год брать.

И судя по тому какой версии отлом, итальяшки задумали обновление оборудования, а это значит нас скоро ещё раз поимеют в денежном эквиваленте.

Кстати, я тут подумал. Не факт, что чтение-запись EDC17 будет именно в Кесс. Тут ведь не написано об этом. Может это новая железка или доп. модуль какой будет.

Кстати не нашел в кессе edc17cp24, audi q7 4.2 v8. Есть только 4,2 с двумя блоками едц16. Был немного разочарован, пришлось вскрывать блок.

Но есть выход , я сегодня оплатил ,короче будет так что обновится все . то есть если закончилась она в январе и оплатил сейчас то и будет до нового года до января , а кому не нужны обновления допустим те что были и могут о них и забыть и продлять с сегодняшнего дня

у меня на 6 июня вроде продление лицензии, естественно буду продлевать. Но вопрос интересен по сути своей.

по поводу едс17 через розетку, такие мысли у них давно были,и все шло к этому. Тем более,что большая часть едс16 уже делается.

А я как раз выбрал продление не с момента окончания. Поскольку закончилась моя подписка 20 апреля, а последнее обновление было 15 или 16 апреля. Вот, посмотрим.

Продлили подписку. Просил продлить именно по день оплаты, т.е. по 21 мая 2014 года. А продлили так же по 20 апреля 2014 года. Хитрые, блин. Ну да ладно!

Да. Зажали или нет, конечно непонятно, но факт остается фактом. Просил дилера оплатить с 21 мая, а не с момента окончания подписки 20 апреля. А в итоге продлили с момента окончания, по 20 апреля 2014.

Просто во время отсутствия подписки не было обновлений. Мне месяц то лишний, не лишним был бы.
