Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
On Sunday, 09/12, I had exited my current save and added a few building assets and deleted a few assets as well from the workshop. Afterwards I loaded in my savegame and experienced an Object Reference error pertaining to Rebalanced Industries. I believed that the constant Object Reference errors were because of this mod and I disabled Rebalanced Industries. The Object Reference errors continued after that so I guess it wasnt related. I still dont know why rebalanced industries started having errors also. I think I may have deleted an asset that I had placed in-game but I dont know what I deleted. I re-subscribed to all mods/assets from my last save but that didnt help either. At a loss as to why I started getting Object Reference errors and a Rebalanced Industries Object Reference error.

Can you replicate the issue? If yes, please explain how you did it.
The Object Reference errors have continued after disabling Rebalanced Industries, the rebalanced industries errors continue if i enable the mod again. I Added my last Output Log Report.

Probably best to also attach the affected save game file, so the mod experts can look into it. Thanks.

You have some old mods and some incompatible mods. Please remove the following mods:

  • Remove Decoration Sprites (use Theme Mixer 2 to remove these instead)
  • Ploppable RICO — get Ploppable RICO Revisited instead
  • Plop the Growables — get Ploppable RICO Revisited instead (make sure to enable the options for growables)

Render It! and PostProcessFX v1.9.0 are incompatible. Pick one and remove the other. Also check their descriptions on Steam to see if they are incompatible with Dynamic Resolution — one or both might be.

Vanilla Trees Remover is quite old and I’m not sure it’s advisable to use anymore. Possible replacements are BOB and Prop Switcher.
No Pillars is also a very old mod. Depending on what you’re using it for I would recommend using Network Skins or Zone It!

Restart the game after making those changes, make sure the new mods are enabled and then try loading your save. If you’re still having issues, attach a new output_log.txt for us to look at.

Hi I have the same problem but I don’t know how to see which mods I have. Any help?

You only get mods by actively subscribing to them.

If you’ve forgotten which ones you subbed to, you can see them in the Steam Workshop for this game, the game’s Content manager-Mods menu, or in the output_log.txt as in the OP here.

Now, I know there was a game update today, so you’d expect to get a few errors with mods or assets. This particular error has been happening quite often over the past few weeks, and there are dozens of threads on the steam workshop and on a FB group I’m in where other players are complaining of the same issue. Some people complain that it happens on game load, others, like me, find that it happens randomly in the middle of gameplay, as if it’s caused by a growable asset somewhere in the city. And when it happens to me, the water and power zots go off above every building.

It might be worth noting that just a few weeks ago before this issue started, I was having another problem where residential buildings would grow but no one would move in, and the info panel said there were 0/0 households. It should say 0/1 or 0/3, but it said zero out of zero. I solved that problem by disabling everything, and then re-enabling groups of mods and assets. I narrowed it down to Advanced Vehicle Options. Not sure why that mod would cause such an issue, but disabling it solved the problem. Could be coincidence.

It’s also worth noting that this happens on new cities in which I start the game, subscribe to nothing new, unsubscribe from nothing, experience stable gameplay for hours, and then suddenly, I start getting the error. Again, I think it’s a growable.

But the error info has no helpful information.

@Windsor999

Describe the problem

Love City Skylines — In the last week or so the game has been crashing randomly between 1 minute to an hour and half. I thought the crashes may have been a bad asset -as I had a error message «HSDGCZT5:LOD too many vertices / Object reference not set to an instance of an object» — removed all the assets I had added over the last week, and thought well I guess that’s fixed and then last night it crashed again.

Steps to reproduce

  1. I just play the game -BUT I wonder if I have too many assets I played for about 42 minutes and then the game threw up the error message and I had to open the task manager to kill cities.exe.

Then the game works and I can play for 45 minutes to an hour?

Notes or questions?

I found this submission area -by accident and I apologize if this is not the kind of thing you assist with -I’m not sure I found a bug I think I may be misusing the mods or the the assets? Thanks, Walt

@krzychu124

I suspect some ancient incompatible assets from workshop. That one which throws errors, for sure. Not much I can do
It’s not related with this mod.

@Windsor999

Thanks for getting back to me, I was able to figure it out -but I
appreciate the response! Thanks again, Walt

You can’t say it’s the same issue just because seeing it was NullReferenceException. It’s one of the most generic error possible which means more or less: something went wrong, code expected some data in memory but it’s not there, so something is missing.

The easiest way to get help is contacting support volunteers over Cities skylines discord text chat server (I’m pretty sure the invite is still available from paradox launcher). Just prepare output_log.txt (or Player.log if MacOS or Linux) log location from the game session where error occurred or just check it yourself.
I’m 99.999% sure this mod is not the source of that error, neither the vanilla game itself. You can try also on TM:PE discord server but we don’t really provide support for general issues not related with the mod (it’s just too much to handle, there are better places)
