Have you ever encountered a runtime error while playing Civilization Five (Civ 5 or Civ V)? How did you fix it? If you are still suffering from this problem, you can try the methods below to deal with the issue.

#1 Enable All Civ 5 Game Mods

If you have played Civilization V with mods and try to load your saved game without the mods, you may come across the runtime error Civ 5. Since the required mods are not enabled, you will not be able to load the game until you enable all mods you have used before.

Besides, you can try to load the game from the Mod Menu with all the required mods enabled. This method has solved Civ 5 runtime error when loading the game for many players.

#2 Launch Steam in Offline Mode

Sometimes, starting Steam in offline mode can also solve the Civilization 5 runtime error.

1. Open Steam and navigate to Steam > Settings > Account.

2. Uncheck Don’t save account credentials on this computer.

3. Go to Steam > Go Offline.

4. Select Restart in Offline Mode.

5. Start Civ 5.

6. If that works, close the game, go Online on Steam, and launch the game again.

#3 Delete Corrupted Cloud Files

Next, you can try to clean up corrupted game files in the cloud storage.

1. Move to Steam > Settings > Cloud.

2. Untick Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for applications which support it.

3. Then, choose Steam > Go Offline and restart Steam in offline mode.

4. Switch to your Steam userdata folder. Usually, it should be C:Program Files (x86)Steamuserdata if you install it on your system C drive and select your account folder.

5. Locate the 8930 directory and delete all items within it.

6. Launch Civ 5, play a few turns and save the game.

7. Existing Civ V, close Steam, and go to the 8930 folder.

8. Remove the vdf file.

9. Reopen Steam and Go Online.

10. Re-check Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for applications which support it.

11. Start Civilization 5.

12. Then, a cloud sync conflict message should pop up. Just select Upload to the Steam Cloud option.

#4 Reinstall All Graphics Card Drivers

Just go to your Civ 5 installation folder, usually C:Program files(x86)SteamSteamappscommonsid meier’s civilization v and install the following items.

• exe (in the VCRedist folder)
• exe (In the DirectX folder)
• (Windows Vista or 7 users) Install D3D11Install.exe (In the DirectX folder)

#5 Rename the Save Folder

Also, you can try to rename the save folder to get rid of the Civ 5 runtime error.

1. Find the save game folder on your computer.
2. Make a copy of the folder and save it in another safe location.
3. Rename the original folder.

Try to run Civilization V again to see whether the error persists or not. If it is, you should restore the copy of the save game folder to the original location and move to the next solution.

#6 Temporarily Disable Firewall/Antivirus

Sometimes, your firewall or antivirus program will treat Civ V and Steam as malware or virus and prevent them from running. If so, you can handle this mistake by temporarily disabling your security program and firewall while playing your game.

You may need to do so every time you want to play on Steam. This is troublesome. To permanently solve this runtime error in Civilization 5, you can configure your firewall and antimalware to allow the running of Steam and the game (put them into the whitelist). Or, you can use another security tool or firewall that won’t regard Civ 5 or Steam as malicious programs.

С недавних пор возникла проблема. При любых запусках Цивилизации выскакивает окно с надписью:

неправильные и не реализуемые варианты решения проблемы: переустановить мою Винду 7(32),переустановки библиотеки визуала не приносят пользы и видно что проблема не в этом

Именно сегодня цива снова стала запускаться.
Так что считаю проблема (тьфу-тьфу-тьфу) решена.
А было это так: вчера купил total warshogun battles, и не знаю, он скачал пакет обновлений visuala или это дар свыше, но сегодня я установил этот пакет и цива СНОВА СТАЛА ЗАПУСКАТЬСЯ.
Так или иначе я теперь буду славить СА за это.:D

Скриншот в студию, как именно отваливается и что именно пишет — если игра не пиратка. Там номер ошибки должен быть или файл дампа должен быть при обрушении игрушки (дамп в папке игры лежит — как только игра рухнет — можете в папку игры зайти и при сортировке по дате самый свежий файл дампа дать) — данные будут переданы разработчикам

Раньше была пиратка и была такая же проблема. Из-за этого и купил вчера лицензию в Стиме, но ситуация не изменилась и игра все так же не запускается.

Ошибка однозначно указывает на распространяемый пакет Visual C++ для Visual Studio. Для 64-битной Windows нужно устанавливать обе библиотеки х64 и х86. Последняя используется для запуска 32-битных приложений. Не забываем установить так же пакеты обновления. Выглядеть должно примерно так:

Ну все эти не обязательно, насколько я знаю, а вот 6 с последними версиями — 3 посвежее с х64 и 3 с х86 нужны

Windows хранит резервные копии системных файлов (правда я не знаю считается ли DirectX сисетемным). Проверить файлы можно с помощью команды sfc (нужны права администратора).
Возможные варианты, которые могут помочь:
sfc /SCANNOW
sfc /SCANFILE=
sfc проверяет контрольную сумму файла, если она не верна, заменяет файл на «правильный»

Также можно проверить диск на ошибки командой CHKDSK
например, CHKDSK C: /F /R (система может сказать что диск занят и предложит проверить при следующей загрузке)

качається, але не ставиться , та я дивився воно в мене вже вроді стоїть,С++2008 х86 в мене є в програмах, а толку ніякого(

Стоит х86, а Винда и комп, небось, х32.
х86- для очень мощных процессоров и серверов интернетовских.

4гб — оперативка, 500- видяха, процесор 2 ядерний. для цивилизациї 4 ето мало.

для цивилизации то нормально, а вот моды вполне могут за 4 гб перевалить.. но эта проблема для цив4 не решаемая, так как 4-ка больше 4 гб памяти не видит / не может использовать..

но то, что ты писал в теме мода, это и не проблема оперативки..

та вона в мене литає. причом тут комп. мод не йде. хорошо єсть робоча ссилка на С++ для х32 и поможет ли ето.

а с чего ты взял, что тебе эта библиотека нужна? это тема про 5-ую циву, причем чистую, без модов..
ещё раз.. обновление библиотек с++ в твоей проблеме не поможет.. оно бы могло помочь, если бы у тебя были вылеты и на циве без модов..

Скажите пожалуйста, что делать с этими файлами? Куда их впихнуть? . Просто у меня точно такая же проблема выходит при запуске сейва. Обидно.. Хочется доиграть..

накачал очень много версий и годов с++,

По идее, нормальная лицензионная игра должна устанавливать все необходимое для ее нормального функционирования при своей установке, а не вынуждать пользователя искать и устанавливать еще какие-то дополнительные пакеты :booflag:

1. Проверь в Стиме целостность кэша игры
2. Полностью переключи Циву на английский язык и поиграй в сетевую игру полностью на английском языке (где-то я слышала, что на английском языке сетевая игра стабильнее, нежели на русском)
3. Возможно, проблемы где-нибудь при соединении по сети или у твоих партнеров по сетевой игре (сетевая Цивочка очень-очень капризная :p )

Сама я в сетевую Циву не играла и играть не собираюсь — Цива не мультиплеерная игра :nono:

одиночная игра проходит без вылетов и лагов с начала до конца, но вот при попытке поиграть по интернету выбивает ошибку на 2-4 ход

По-моему, ежели сингл идет без проблем, то и сишные библиотеки как таковые здесь совершенно не причем (с ними все в порядке) :nono:

Проблема, очевидно, где-то в интернет-соединении :yes:

Что можно сказать?
Я сама не особо хорошо в этом разбираюсь, но можно сказать что

1. Крайне желателен высокоскоростной интернет-канал (от 1 Мбит/с и выше)
2. Предпочтительнее проводное соединение, нежели Wi-Fi
3. Желательно, чтобы все игроки находились не слишком далеко друг от друга (желателен низкий пинг между игроками)

Ну еще бывает полезным отключить все антивирусы/брандмауэры/фаерволлы :unsure:

Естественно, работу сетевой Цивы надо проверять в дуэли на дуэльной карте 😎

Еще раз — сетевая Цива очень капризна, очень требовательна к интернет-соединению :crash_pc:

Нелишним будет поставить все настройки графики на самый минимум и играть в оконном режиме под Девятым Директ Иксом 😉

А еще есть такая замечательная штука, как 2D режим (клавиша F10); по-моему, этот режим гораздо нагляднее, нежели 3D 😉

Runtime Error when loading a saved modded game

In addition with the «game keeps re-downloading my mods» problem, now everytime I try to load a modded saved game a message saying:

Of course Ive already checked the integrity of the Chache, reintalled all mods (by erasing them and also by waiting for them to re-download), by loading the save directly from menu, and form the mod menu ticking the corresponding mods, this also happens with the DX9 version and its the second save with which this happens, thanks Fail Patch, and help?

It’s pretty tough to say why a given mod doesn’t seem to work correctly. I’ve seen similar errors in the past for a number of reasons. One time, the reason was «spy names» weren’t included in the author’s «new leader/civ» mod.

Mods aren’t supported by the devs for a number of reasons. Of course this doesn’t mean «no one» knows the answer to your question. If you can narrow the problem source to a specific mod you should attempt to communicate with the mod author and see if that person has had problems with it since the patch. Often patches can create fatal flaws in mod code that are very simple to remedy, but it must be investigated and amended.

If you cannot communicate with the author, I recommend at least for the time being you consider this mod obsolete. You should unsubscribe and consult this guide to make sure it’s not causing any other kind of bizarre bugs.

Civilization 5 runtime error при загрузке сейва

Whenever I want to load a saved game, I get the following error:

«Runtime Error! . DX11.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application’s support team for more information.»

«Unusual way»? Are you kidding me? Clearly, this is an error that needs to be corrected in a new patch immediately. I already tried verifying the game cache and all that. Nothing. I even uninstalled Civ5 and Steam, then reinstalled both. STILL nothing.

As of right now, you’ve lost a Steam player and customer. I will not be playing or purchasing any Steam-based PC games again until this issue is resolved. Console-based games (i.e. PS3) will be taking up my gaming efforts from this day forth, and I highly suggest all Civilization 5 fans do the same. Thank you.

First make sure you have installed the most recent graphic card driver. Then after that

Go to
C:Program files(x86)SteamSteamappscommonsid meier’s civilization v

Install vcredist_x86.exe (in the VCRedist folder)

Install DXSetup.exe (In the DirectX folder)

Ugh, Steam Cloud saves? In this case, Steam really does get a portion of the blame- they don’t have any easy method of managing your data in their Cloud, which is really important if it gets corrupted. I’d still give the biggest piece to the developer (Firaxis) for not including basic error handling that could catch bad saves before they crash the game.

Fortunately, there is a workaround, if a rather involved one, to delete files from the Steam Cloud. Read more here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1481342

And at the first chance you get, Steam->Settings->Cloud->uncheck «Enable Steam Cloud*». There’s a small but significant danger in using this service until it adds basic recovery and management features, so I’ve chosen to simply not use it.

Thanks for the info on how to switch saves. Although I got the save game out of the cloud, the problem still persists. Can’t load any saved games.

2018 and there is still no clear fix to this. I’ve been having it [. ] in multiplayer games.

Mine is getting this error even when NOT trying to load from the cloud.

Don’t expect too much out of searching for a solution for this specific error message.

This is actually an extremely generic message and by itself it doesn’t mean anything specific. Which is why u are all seeing it under different circumstances.

All it means is «Civ V tried to do something impossible with DirectX 11, which either Firaxis was not expecting to happen at all, or for whatever reason they didn’t create a specific solution. And by the way, most likely this is Firaxis’s fault, not Microsoft’s, so don’t bug us.» As you can imagine, the potential underlying causes for such a message are . basically everything. But fixing the true underlying issue is what u must do.

Assuming your PC actually meets the game’s specs and it’s generally nothing that’s your fault, it could be bad drivers, corrupt save(s), corrupt game files, or anything in between, including a combination of issues. You find out which, by isolating each and making sure it is not the problem/resolving it if it is the problem, then moving on to the next thing.

1. Verify your PC is compatible.
2. Verify game files thru steam.
3. Verify game options — use appropriate or even «safe» settings for graphics, etc.;possibly use «safe mode» if game has it, or possibly just reset/wipe your config if u can. This step technically includes «Verify you aren’t trying to load a savegame that’s corrupt», etc.
4. Verify drivers. Mainly graphics but if you’re really not getting anywhere check sound drivers too.
5. «Uninstall/reinstall» if u didn’t already do this in step 2 or 3. Shrug. You’re probably going to do it at some point.
6. Verify general function of PC i.e. no weird issues with malware (or antimalware), failing devices, «windows issues», etc.

If the game still doesn’t run at this point u basically must have failed one of the above. So figure out which one.

But if savegames are getting hosed, there is no coming back from that most ilkely, other than making your own backups or going to an earlier save, etc.

Personally I use autosave every turn. And don’t use cloud saves. Unless I am going to be moving to a PC then I just migrate 1-2 saves to cloud.

Hello,

Starting this week I have been getting a Runtime Error anytime I try to load a saved game where mods were enabled. I primarily use my own mods so I thought at first I had updated something and just simply forgot, but that wasn’t the case.

Suffering from exactly the same problem, just randomly started happening a dew days ago.

If i start a game i can save it, and load it. But only in that session of Civ 5. If I come back the next day the save game will not load, instead giving me that error.

I’ve search around and others suggest re-installing civ5 and reinstalling steam, both of which I’ve tried, but no joy. I also updated my gfx drivers.

What’s weird is that it just started happening out of the blue and as far as I’m aware i didn’t apply any updates or modify anything.

Don’t have BNW myself, just vanilla Civ 5.

I have exactly the same runtime error upon savegame load, have also not seen any steam updates for at least a week +.

The game also sets up files in the «My documents» folder under «My Games». You also may have to go in and manually delete all files there. If you want to save the ‘saved’ games copy them to another location. Then copy them back after reloading or playing the game.

I was just coming here to ask about this issue. I have this problem too. I can load the saved games if I put Steam in Offline mode, but I prefer not to do that because I want to be able to get achievments.

If the issue is corrupted files, just verifying local content may not work. If uninstalling and re-installing the game does not help, then the corrupted file may be in the My documents folder> my games folder in windows.

Once the download is complete, it’s time to locate the Civilization 5 folder and the folder where the previous version has been downloaded.

Go to your Steam folder and navigate to “Steam/steamapps/common/Sid Meier’s Civilization V”, this is the game’s folder. Go to “Steam/Steam.AppBundle/Steam/Contents/MacOS/steamapps/content/app_8930”, this is the downloaded version of the game.

To do that, you need to close both Civilization V and Steam. Open the X11 terminal or any other terminal you prefer and type in the following.

rsync -av ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/Steam.AppBundle/Steam/Contents/MacOS/steamapps/content/app_8930/dep*/Civilization V.app/* ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Sid Meier’s Civilization V/Civilization V.app/

Note: the folder paths will be different for different users. Just replace the folder path in the command with your system’s folder path.

Of course, you now need to stop the game from automatically updating the newer version and cause the error again. To do that, go to “Steam/steamapps/appmanifest_8930.acf”, open the file in an editor and change StateFlags” parameter to “4”. This will fix the Version Mismatch error for Civilization 5.

Crash At Startup, Game Not Launching Fix

PC video games often face the crash at startup or game not launching issue and Civilization 5 is no exception. Here are a few fixes and workarounds to fix the issue so that players can enjoy the game.

PC games often crash if they don’t have administrative rights. Right-click the game’s exe > Properties > Compatibility tab > check “run this program as administrator”. Apply the change, launch Civ 5 and the issue will be fixed.

Your anti-virus software or Windows Defender might be blocking the exe file by falsely detecting it as a Trojan. Either disable the anti-virus or exclude the game’s folder from it. This will fix the crash at the launch issue.

Using third-party software like MSI Afterburner or GeForce Experience can also cause the game to crash. Disable any third-party utility you are using and the game won’t crash.

If you are using MSI Afterburner and disabling it hasn’t fixed the issue then follow the steps below.

• Open RivaTuner Statistics Server(RTSS).
• Click the Add button and navigate to the game’s folder.
• Add Civilization 5’s exe under Application profile properties.
• Set Application detection level to None for the game application.
• Close RivaTuner Statistics Server.

Disk Write Error Fix

According to players, they are unable to download the game or update the game on Steam as they get the Disk Write Error.

Performance issues are bound to pop up given that there so many PC configurations out there. Here I will note down the fixes for stuttering, low FPS, and random FPS drops.

First, make sure you have installed the latest GPU drivers and there is no background process using too much of your CPU, GPU, or HDD.

For the laptop users, make sure the game is running on the dedicated GPU instead of the integrated. Some times, games don’t switch to the dedicated GPU which results in performance issues.

For Nvidia users, open open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select the game. Select the non-integrated GPU option.

As for the AMD GPU users, open Device Manager and disable the integrated graphics under Display Adapters.

If you aren’t playing Civilization 5 on a laptop and is still facing stuttering and other performance issues then Nvidia users, open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select the game. Set Vertical Sync to “ON”, set “Power Management Mode” to “Prefer Maximum Performance”, and change Texture Filtering- Quality” to “High Performance”.

Start the game, disable in-game v.sync and the performance issues will be fixed. If not, then follow the steps mentioned above but set Vertical Sync to “Fast”.

Updating Error Fix

Some players have reported that they are receiving the “An error has occurred when updating game” message and are unable to update the game. This can be fixed by changing the game’s download location.
