I have a newly bought Aspire E-15 and recently it is facing BSOD and restarted a few times. I have checked the event viewer and i noticed it was flooded with event ID 17 :
A corrected hardware error has occurred.
Component: PCI Express Root Port
Is it related ? And how do i fix this problem.

Hi,
Yes, you can rollback the driver and it won’t create any problem, however, it’s better to backup your system so that if any problem you can recover to a working laptop.

Thanks for the reply! my laptop model is E5-575G-54XT.
According to Acer care centre, i have the lastest bios and have updated all the drivers.
I have just read other post which reccomended rolling back the realtek pcie GBE family controler and the warnings have stopped. Just wondering whether this action would cause future problems and what consequences it might bring.

I keep getting the following error message:
Event ID: 17
Source: WHEA-Logger
A corrected hardware error has occurred.
Component: PCI Express Root Port
Error Source: Advanced Error Reporting (PCI Express)
Bus:Device:Function: 0x0:0x7:0x0
Vendor ID:Device ID: 0x8086:0x340e
Class Code: 0x30400
I’m running Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit, on a DX58SO mobo and i7-975 proc.
The Vendor ID points to Intel, but the Device ID points to «Fast Ethernet» from a different company (and not the embedded NIC).
I’m at a loss as to what this could be. Anyone? Need more details?
Thank you!

Hi,
I suggest updating chipset driver. If it’s an OEM computer, please download it from the computer manufacturer’s website.
In addition, according to my search, some users resolved this issue by stopping the TI External Event Utility service. Please load services by clicking the Start button, typing Services.msc and pressing Enter. Find out that service, double click it and click
the Stop button.Hope it helps.

Ive tried removing and re-installing device drivers as well as updating my motherboard bios and enabling XMP for my ram. nothing seems to be working. I cant run fullscreen applications for longer than 10-20mins before it crashes and returns me to the desktop.
should I reset my pc? will this fix the issue?
I plan to remove my hardware and reinstall it however this is a last resort.
any infomation on the error would be appreciated.
Ive searched most of the internet already looking for answers. I understand it could either be my ram or gpu?
thanks.

Hi, thanks for your response.
Ive already done the clean install of drivers on my PC using DDU.
I have downloaded CPU-Z after reseating bot my RAM and GPU.
CPU-Z recognises both my CPU and my GPU but not my RAM.
When I look at my RAM on the SPD tab in CPU-Z it is all greyed out, therefore Im beginning to think that the RAM may be corrupted?
could this be the case?
I currently have 32gb Corsair Vengeance 2666Hz RAM that I bought second hand from eBay.

ROG Stryx Z690-E: A corrected hardware error has occurred
The warning message below appears in my Windows 11 system event log a few dozen times per day. This started immediately after my initial build a few weeks ago.
A corrected hardware error has occurred.
Component: PCI Express Root Port
Error Source: Advanced Error Reporting (PCI Express)Primary Bus: Device:Function: 0x0:0x1A:0x0
Secondary Bus: Device:Function: 0x0:0x0:0x0
Primary Device Name: PCIVEN_8086&DEV_7AC8&SUBSYS_86941043&REV_11
Secondary Device Name:Could this be a driver issue? Maybe a hardware problem with the motherboard? I have the latest Intel Chipset drivers installed according to Armoury Crate.
Thanks.

Hi guzmanda2132,
Do you have any issues while got this warning message?
Have it occurred on win10 or you install win11 in the beginning?
If you update bios 0702 and restore bios to all default settings, do you also get the warning message?
May I have the Intel Chipset drivers version?
Thank you.

Do you have any issues while got this warning message?
No, I’ve noticed no problems related to the warning.
Have it occurred on win10 or you install win11 in the beginning?
This is a new Windows 11 install, not an upgrade.
If you update bios 0702 and restore bios to all default settings, do you also get the warning message?
My current BIOS is 0503. I didn’t think to check for a newer version since Armoury Crate reports «No new BIOS available». Lesson learned. I’ll give this a try.
May I have the Intel Chipset drivers version?
Intel Chipset driver version is 10.1.18838.8284.
Thanks for your help. I’ll post back after the BIOS update.

I still get the same warning after updating the BIOS to 0702 and installing latest drivers, including Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management drivers. The waring isn’t correlated to any specific device activity I’ve identified or causing issues. It is a bit concerning, though.
Thanks.

Hi guzmanda2132,
Have you also restore bios to all default settings after updated to bios 0702?
Does the warning message appear right away after you boot into windows or open the specific apps?
Thank you.

Have you also restore bios to all default settings after updated to bios 0702?
Yes. I double-checked by loading optimized defaults again and no changes were made.
Does the warning message appear right away after you boot into windows or open the specific apps?
The warning often shows shortly after a reboot but not always. Below are the timings of the first warning over the last several reboots.
- 27 minutes later
- 15 seconds later
- 7 minutes later
- none
- 10 minutes later
- 10 seconds later
- 10 seconds later
- 12 seconds later
- 8 seconds later
The messages occur sporadically 24×7 so it’s not related to interactive apps nor correlated to other messages in the system or application event logs that might track background process activity.
Here are example details from a recent warning event. An internet search for the meaning of CorrectableErrorStatus found a few arcane references to PCIe structures and registers but nothing actionable. The CorrectableErrorStatus values are either 0x1000 and 0x1100.

I forgot to mention the warning message began immediately after my initial build with only the boot SSD in the M.2_2 slot at the time. The other PCIe devices were added later.
Thought this might help avoid going down a rabbit hole.
Thanks.
