A lot of people have managed to jailbreak their iDevices, but still Cydia continues to throw errors at them, right and left. This article reveals a solution for the DPKG LOCKED cydo and Cydia returned an error code issue on iOS 11.3.1 – 11.0 jailbreak.

Why Does Cydia Give DPKG LOCKED/CYDO RETURNED AN ERROR CODE Issue?

Cydia gives the “DPKG_LOCKED” & “cydo returned an error code” messages on several occasions, when –

• Cydia installation is corrupted.
• Cydia isn’t properly installed on an iDevice.
• There’s an error on part of the user.
• Jailbreak is using an outdated or bogus version of the package manager of Cydia.

Fortunately, though, the old tested Delectra script still functions for Electra1131 even though it hasn’t been updated by the developer.

The script can be easily used to clean Cydia installations and jailbreak the device from ground up again.

What You’ll Need

• WiFi connection.
• iOS 11.2-11.3.1 firmware.
• iDevice (iPod, iPad, or iPhone).
• Uninstall script for Delectra.
• WiFi network.
• PC running macOS or Windows.

Steps to Fixing DPKG_LOCKED ON IOS 11.3.1 – 11.0 & Cydia Returned an Error Code With Delectra

PREPARING YOUR DEVICE:

1. Before anything else, make sure you’re in jailbreak mode. If your device isn’t jailbroken, follow this guide to jailbreak it.
2. Download Cyberduck or Putty for Windows or macOS.
3. Download (unjailbreak.sh) – the Delectra shell script – from here.
4. Launch Settings from your iDevice, go to “WiFi” and tap “i” alongside the WiFi network you’re connected with. Note down “IP Address” as this is going to be used in later steps.

The IP will be something like: 192.168.31.180

Transferring The Uninstall Script to Your iDevice

1. Open CyberDuck SSH utility and click “Open Connection”. We will be showcasing this process with macOS Mojave but all the steps can be performed on Windows too.
2. Choose “SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) from the protocol dropdown list. If it is set to any other option, an SFTP connection won’t be created.
3. Enter these details to launch a session for SFTP.

Server – The IP address of the WiFi network as noted in step 4.

• Username is going to be root.
• Password – default one (alpine)
• SSH Private Key – default (None)

1. Cyberduck will now showcase a warning for an “unknown fingerprint.” Click “Allow” to go to the next step.
2. Transfer “unjailbreak.sh” shell script to the folder “/private/var/root” by dragging it to the window of Cyberduck.

Please note that this is the default folder and includes only two sub-folders (Library and Application Support) and a file (known as files.list).

Launch Delectra Script

1. On the Mac, close down Cyberduck and head to “Go > Utilites’? If you’re using Windows, you must utilize “PuTTY” talent client that can be downloaded from this link.
2. Open “Terminal” app.
3. You should now log in to the device as root, and enter these commands:

ssh root@192.168.31.180

Note: Instead of 192.168.31.180 enter your IP from Step 4.

1. Terminal will now display a warning about the host’s authenticity and will request you to abort session. Type “yes” to proceed.
2. Type “alpine” as the password and wait until it logs you in. Remember to use the custom password if you modified it before.
3. Type this command and press “enter/return” key to launch it.

Bash .unjailbreak.sh

Jailbreak The Device Again

1. Onnce the script has eliminated jailbreak from the device, it will return to its normal stock version. Restart the device and use Electra1131 to re-jailbreak your iPhone.

And that’s all. You can now install your favorite tweaks from Cydia without seeing cydo returned an error or DPKG_LOCKED messages.

Jailbreaking your iPhone is exciting and maybe sometimes problematic at the same time. Interesting because it lets you explore a lot and install Cydia tweaks to customize the user experience, but it gets problematic when you face errors.

Well, it’s not as bad as it sounds since problems always come with their solutions. One of the issues I encountered while jailbreaking my iOS 10.2 was DPKG_LOCKED Cydia error, and I decided to restore my device to fix the problem.

To tell you the truth, I was stupid to do so and restoring isn’t really a solution for all the problems. I followed the below six-steps guide to get rid of the error, and it worked. Try it if you are facing the same issue.

DPKG_LOCKED Cydia Error Fix:

Here are the step-by-step instructions to resolve the issue with your iPhone.

1. Download Yalu Dark

First, you need to download Yalu Dark from DPKG fix. Click here to download.

2. Make Your Device Non-Jailbroken

Once downloaded, delete the existing Yalu102 app from your phone and then reboot it. This is how your phone gets in the non-jailbroken state.

3. Download and Launch Cydia Impactor

Now, download Cydia Impactor and launch it to your computer by connecting your phone. Drag and drop the Yalu Dark IPA downloaded in the first step and follow the following instructions that emerge on the screen.

4. Run the New Jailbreak

After following the incoming instructions, you can run the new jailbreak on your phone. Cydia will then be reinstalled to your newly jailbroken phone along with all the requirements.

5. Install Filza to Replace Yalu

You may feel like you’ve fixed the issue at step four, but you need to install Filza from Cydia to replace the particular Yalu version with a regular one. Launch the app and remove the following two files from / (root)

• .installed_yaluX
• .installed_YaluX_Fix

6. Remove Yalu Dark with DPKG

Finally, you need to jailbreak your phone with the normal Yalu version, so remove Yalu Dark with DPKG. So, this is it. Your jailbreak should work fine now. Let us know if it worked for you by commenting below.

Here’s how to fix DPKG_LOCKED Cydia error on your iOS 10 or 10.2 jailbreak running jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch device.

The modern world of jailbreaking is certainly more exciting, and a lot more problematic, than it has ever been. And that’s not always a bad thing. However, when things go wrong, it can often put people in a position where they have little or no clue how to tackle the situation and simply end up restoring their device, such is the case when the DPKG_LOCKED error is received.

We’re here to tell you that it doesn’t always have to mean restore, and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Step 1: In the first instance, you’re going to need to download the modified Yalu Dark IPA from GeoSn0w that comes complete with the integrated DPKG error fix. This can be grabbed immediately from the developer from his GitHub here.

Step 2: On the jailbroken device, make sure that you delete and remove all instances of the yalu102 or Yalu Dark app if they are already installed. You will then need to reboot your device so that it loads up into a non-jailbroken state.

Step 3: The next step is to actually get the modified Yalu Dark app onto the device. You can do that by using either of the two methods outlined below:

Step 4: With the modified IPA on the device, you are now going to need to run it to allow it to work its magic, so to speak. If you are prompted that the developer of this app is untrusted and it doesn’t launch, simply head into Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management on the device. On some iOS versions, this option might be available at General > Profile(s) & Device Management or General > Device Management.

Step 5: Next, find the certificate relating to the recently installed app, tap on it, and then tap Trust and Trust again.

Step 6: Now, tap on the newly installed icon to launch. This will not only jailbreak the device, but also install Cydia with all of the necessary dependencies that Cydia needs to go about its business.

Step 7: Now, in Cydia, you’re going to need to install a file manager. This could be the very popular iFile, or the rising Filza option. You will need to use that file manager to get yourself into the root directory of the device’s file system. Once in there, you will need to delete the following files: .installed_yaluX and .installed_Yalux_Fix

Step 8: Back on the Home screen of the device, put the app icons into edit/wiggle mode and delete the newly installed Yalu Dark with DPKG fix app entirely.

Step 9: You will now need to sideload the yalu102 jailbreak IPA back onto the device using Cydia Impactor. This will put you back in a position where you can jailbreak the iPhone when/if a reboot takes place. You can download yalu102 from here.
