Error 207 with macbook pro 2020 13″ i5 10th generation
I have currently purchased a MacBook Pro 2020 13″ with i5 of 10th generation and I have an AMD RX 480 egpu but it has been made impossible for me to connect it to Windows because I get error 207 when I try to install AMD drivers. I have done everything, I uninstalled the drivers with the DDU tool, I downloaded the drivers from bootcampdrivers, I installed versions 1903, 2004 and 20h2 of windows 10. I’ve put the egpu on both sides of the computer (right and left) I’ve literally done it all and I haven’t been able to get it.
Has anyone here gone through the same process that can help me?

@raul_fernandez, I recommend you find a successful build guide in the Builds section that most closely matches your hardware and then follow each step carefully. If you do it correctly, it should work. I recommend starting with ITSage’s guide or Andygev35’s guide. But there are a number of other builds you can look at.

Make sure your windows 10 version should be 1903 18362.295, I assume you have DDU cleaned and installed the graphics card driver from bootcampdrivers, it doesn’t matter it shows error207, actually almost everyone does.
1.Make sure you can enter windows when you disconnect eGPU
3.Connect eGPU and boot up MacBook Pro. Immediately hold the option key to enter the system selection interface
4.Wait 5 seconds or so, disconnect eGPU
5.Select windows system, press enter, and connect eGPU after the windows logo appears before circle spinning
6.If you successfully enter the desktop, you would see that the yellow triangle in the device manager should be gone
7.It may be stuck or crashed after entering the system for the first time. Restart the computer once without eGPU, and use these magic tricks for the second restart.
8.If it is not successful, the timing of connecting eGPU may be wrong, try again

Step #11 says «disable the bottom three PCI Express Root Ports.» The top Root Port listed in Device Manager is for the physical port nearest the Tab key and stays enabled. If it says to disable 3 ports, then disable 3 ports, not 4 ports.
You can see which Root Ports listed in Device Manager map to the physical ports of the MBP by looking at the illustration in itsage’s guide.

Help me find a graphics card
The cutoff between the high end basic graphics cards and the high performance graphics cards seems to be the AMD RX 580 series. That’s what I would recommend you go with. I have an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X system with an OEM RX 580 card in it and I’m about 90% happy with it. With your system, I believe the RX 580 would definitely NOT be the bottleneck in performance, but it won’t drain your bank account too much either.
You’re looking at about $200 US for an RX 580 card. On my system, I do believe the OEM RX 580 is the bottleneck, but I’m not going to drop $300+ for a high performance card. My RX 580 OEM card gives me good enough performance. The biggest difference between OEM and retail RX 580s is that the OEM version only has 4 GB DDR5 VRAM and the retail versions have 8 GB.

Загрузка программного обеспечения Radeon
Программное обеспечение Radeon можно загрузить в центре загрузки AMD Drivers + Download Center. На этом сайте имеется два варианта поиска и загрузки последней версии программного обеспечения Radeon:
- Автоматическое определение и установка драйвера: Запустите утилиту AMD Driver Autodetect Tool для определения графического продукта Radeon ™ и версии операционной системы Windows ® . Если ваша графическая карта и версия Windows ® совместимы с программным обеспечением Radeon, утилита предложит вариант для загрузки. Установка программного обеспечения Radeon
Перед установкой нового пакета драйверов необходимо удалить из системы все другие драйверы графики AMD. Полное удаление обеспечивает очистку системы и снижает вероятность возникновения проблем или конфликтов при установке новых драйверов.

После загрузки пакета программного обеспечения Radeon запустите исполняемый файл, чтобы начать установку.
При запуске отобразится лицензионное соглашение с конечным пользователем. Ознакомьтесь с лицензионным соглашением с конечным пользователем и информацией о программе улучшения качества обслуживания пользователей.
Если вы согласны с условиями, выберите пункт Accept and Express Install или Accept and Custom Install для перехода к следующему этапу установки или нажмите X для выхода на рабочий стол.

После начала установки программа AMD Software Installer попробует определить ваш графический продукт AMD.
После завершения этапа обнаружения появятся следующие экраны и сообщения в зависимости от выбранного типа установки.
Экспресс-установка
При выборе этого типа установки все основное программное обеспечение и все компоненты драйвера устанавливаются в папку по умолчанию C:Program FilesAMD. Процесс установки начинается сразу же после нажатия кнопки Accept and Express Install и требует минимального вмешательства пользователя.

Для систем с поддержкой Radeon ReLive экран установки Radeon ReLive не появится во время использования опции Express Install. После успешного завершения установки на окончательном экране должны отобразиться опции «Перезагрузить сейчас» и (или) «Закрыть», как показано в примере ниже:
При выборе опции «Перезагрузить сейчас» система перезагружается, а при выборе опции «Закрыть» выполняет выход на рабочий стол. Если перезагрузка системы не требуется, доступна только опция «Закрыть».
Если один или несколько компонентов не были установлены, или установка была прервана, на заключительном экране должны появиться опции, показанные в примере ниже:

Персонализированная установка
Этот тип установки позволяет указать отдельные компоненты и место, куда они будут установлены.
Если вы выберете Accept and Custom Install, программа установки начнет проверять наличие в системе другого программного обеспечения Radeon, после чего будет выполнен один из следующих двух сценариев:
- Программа установки обнаружила установленную версию программного обеспечения Radeon и выводит экран, показанный в примере ниже.
При выборе опции «Удалить установленное программное обеспечение» откроется меню со следующими вариантами выбора:

При этом становится невозможным откат к предыдущей версии драйвера (через Диспетчер устройств), зато могут устраниться некоторые распространенные проблемы, возникающие при установке испорченных файлов драйверов.

Ближе к концу установки появится экран, предлагающий установить Radeon ReLive в поддерживаемых системах, как показано в примере ниже:

Проблема с установкой драйверов AMD. СРОЧНО НУЖНА ПОМОЩЬ.
Короче, это полнейший писец, я просто уже умереть хочу. Помогите пожалуйста, если сможете. У меня такая проблема, решил я такой обновить дрова для AMD на версию новую, 2020 года. Ну сначала всё вроде нормально было, устанавливалось, но там была галочка «сбросить настройки драйвера»,или что-то похожее, ну короче удалить старые дрова, или нет? Ну я оставил галочку там и начал скачивать, тут как всегда всё пошло по Пизанской башне.
Когда скачивал, вылезла ошибка и не хрена не установилось. Всё бы нечего, не судьба значит, но только вот старых то дров нет, а с официального сайта устанавливалась только эта новая версия. Ну я решил посмотреть guide, ну и скачать уже наконец эти новые дрова, всё делал по guide,точь в точь, но нечего не установилось, выдаёт «Error 211.» Всё что смог зафиксировать, внизу. Помогите если сможете пожалуйста.

I’ve searched the internet for fixes but none went through. I’ve tried taking out the cmos battery, plug out for 60 seconds, DDU, manual uninstalling of drivers(safe mode and not safe mode) and others but updating bios since I don’t know much about it.
I even tried leaving the gpu sit without the pcie cable and when it boots up I then plug it in. The computer then recognizes the gpu but it fails at the end of driver installation. It just gives «Error 207 — Radeon Software Installation Completed Successfully but Windows Detected a Potential Issue with Your Graphics Device».
I’ve no idea what to do now.
I’ll include in my specs just in case it plays a role in this error or whatever it is:

gtx 460 se
8gb ram
450 watts psu

Looks like it doesn’t work. My mobo beeps when it boots but with rx 570, it doesn’t even beep. But all fans do spin.
Ok, only thing a recommended is trying in another system to check if the card is dead. The problem i had persisted till i updated to the latest version of windows 10, 1903. What output are you using on the card? Is your psu big enough? 450w minimum i think for the 570. I had loads of trouble with 580 initially. It would power up, fans would spin but no picture.

Are you trying to run both the GTX 460 and the RX 570 at the same time?
Also, don’t ever plug in a device to the PSU when a system is fully booted up.

I had a similar issue with my 580. When i first installed it, it would just display a black screen. I had to use my old gpu (vega11) go into device manager and disable the display adapter, i think it was called windows display adapter because i had uninstalled the old drivers. Shut down and then switch over to my rx580, and install the drivers. I had a thew driver problems aswel. Had to reinstall them a thew times for it to work. Get your gpu drivers from amd if you haven’t.

I might as well update my windows if my plan doesn’t work. I’m using an hdmi since there’s no vga on the card and I do have 450w so I think it is at least enough to power up 570 but still wouldn’t boot even bios. Yeah, i can’t really think of anything else to suggest other then trying in a different system. Corsair vs450 isn’t the best psu but 450w should be enough. Could be your mobo being old, maybe it needs a bios update. Everything worked fine with your old card?

Hello friends,
I have currently purchased a MacBook Pro 2020 13″ with i5 of 10th generation and I have an AMD RX 480 egpu but it has been made impossible for me to connect it to Windows because I get error 207 when I try to install AMD drivers. I have done everything, I uninstalled the drivers with the DDU tool, I downloaded the drivers from bootcampdrivers, I installed versions 1903, 2004 and 20h2 of windows 10… I’ve put the egpu on both sides of the computer (right and left) I’ve literally done it all and I haven’t been able to get it.
Has anyone here gone through the same process that can help me?

@raul_fernandez, I recommend you find a successful build guide in the Builds section that most closely matches your hardware and then follow each step carefully. If you do it correctly, it should work. I recommend starting with ITSage’s guide or Andygev35’s guide. But there are a number of other builds you can look at.

Yes, each hardware combination can require different solutions. I see you have been taking advice in other threads from many people with different hardware than you and throwing random combinations together. Just follow a guide from someone with the same hardware.

Windows 10 903 V1 (18362.30) is the only version that would work with the 2020 Ice Lake MacBook Pro when used with Radeon eGPU. Follow the setup instructions in Andygev35’s guide.

I tried to follow in his footsteps but in step #11 he says to disable the «3» PCI EXPRESS ports but my computer has 4, I disable the 4 ports and in step #18 he says to connect the egpu on the next port to the «tab» key, says that some bells will ring but it is not my case. Which of the 4 ports corresponds to that port on my computer. Remember that my computer has 4 ports

Make sure your windows 10 version should be 1903 18362.295, I assume you have DDU cleaned and installed the graphics card driver from bootcampdrivers, it doesn’t matter it shows error207, actually almost everyone does.
1.Make sure you can enter windows when you disconnect eGPU
2.Shutdown MacBook Pro
3.Connect eGPU and boot up MacBook Pro. Immediately hold the option key to enter the system selection interface
4.Wait 5 seconds or so, disconnect eGPU
5.Select windows system, press enter, and connect eGPU after the windows logo appears before circle spinning
6.If you successfully enter the desktop, you would see that the yellow triangle in the device manager should be gone
7.It may be stuck or crashed after entering the system for the first time. Restart the computer once without eGPU, and use these magic tricks for the second restart.
8.If it is not successful, the timing of connecting eGPU may be wrong, try again

Step #11 says «disable the bottom three PCI Express Root Ports.» The top Root Port listed in Device Manager is for the physical port nearest the Tab key and stays enabled. If it says to disable 3 ports, then disable 3 ports, not 4 ports.
You can see which Root Ports listed in Device Manager map to the physical ports of the MBP by looking at the illustration in itsage’s guide.
