Error 0x80131534 : Unknown COM Status Code when trying to run Crystal Reports in Windows 10 Pro
I have an Accounting application that when it prints reports is supposed to call the Crystal Reports to display and print the report. It works fine on one PC, but on one particular PC it does not work and returns this error message:
Error 0x80131534 : Unknown COM Status Code
I installed Crystal Reports on its own and runs fine. But when the program calls Crystal, I just can’t get it to work. It seems to be a Windows problem and something having to do with the security of this PC not allowing control to another program. I’ve tried almost everything to no avail.
As I said, it works fine on other PC’s but not this one.
This particular PC does not allow me to setup GoToAssist unattended access, which I can do on others. So something about this particular PC is weird. Perhaps anyone has seen this before? Let me kjnow if you need any more info.

Hi,
Visual Studio Community 2017, Windows 10, Windows and Office (CTR) fully updated.
Writing an Add-in for MS Project. Have simply created a new project, added Ribbon designer and .xml. Test time and after clicking the button in Project I get:

Can anyone help please?
Many thanks,

If you can, try using your library from another dynamic, COM enabled language. If you don’t know of one, here’s a quick snippet that you can use, if you have perl handy. (If you don’t, grab ActivePerl to get started really quick)
use strict;
use warnings;
use Win32::OLE;
my $object = Win32::OLE->new('my.object.1')
or die "Unable to create my.object.1!";
if (my $error = Win32::OLE->LastError()) {
die "Still got an error starting up: $errorn";
}
print "Good!n";
Alternatively, if Python is your gig, grab and install PyWin32 and try this:
try:
import win32com.client as w32c
from win32com.client import util
except ImportError:
print "npywin32 package must be installed. Available https://sourceforge.net/projects/pywin32/n"
sys.exit()
lib = w32c.dynamic.Dispatch("my.object.1")
# error checking and more, yatta
If this works, then it’s likely a configuration issue with your ASP app. If this doesn’t, then it means the object that you’re trying to create either a) isn’t registered, or b) has a problem with the library. .NET dll’s must be set up properly to export to COM. Was this .NET library one you created yourself?
I recently set up a series of maintenance plans to backup all online databases. A full backup runs once a week, a differential runs once a day, and a transactional runs every ten minutes. We have two SQL Server instances on two machines. One works perfectly, backing up to another server on its network. The other, a Google cloud compute instance, is trying to back up to another Google compute instance, and it can’t.
The SQL server in question, let’s call it SQL1, is trying to back up to a Google server we’ll call storage1. Storage1 is NOT a Google Storage bucket, just a full server with space to store the backups. Thus, standard Windows sharing should apply. I’ve made the SQLBackups folder on Storage1’s hard drive fully shared to everyone on the network, so accessing it shouldn’t be a problem. In fact, the plan can’t be created unless the folder can be reached, so I know that’s working. Yet, when I run the plan, it fails within ten seconds. The plan log isn’t helpful, but the job log is more interesting: it reports that the job failed because it «could not load package. Error: 0X80131534. Description: no description available.» Google has next to nothing on this error number.
The odd thing is, I ran into a similar problem while setting the same plans up on the other server, but it went away in the course of working out how to do all this so I never found out what exactly the problem was. I’m very confused, and in the meantime, our database isn’t able to back up. Anything anyone can suggest is appreciated. Again, this is just the full backup job, and it’s set to ignore offline databases and back up all databases. Thanks.

Hello.
(Note: I preferred to run the «full» installer but select the custom / production install only, for start; you did the «Full installation which is a larger gun).
Anyway, I hoped to find some hidden problem in the first installer log (Production), or a difference from the second run. But unfortunately, I have not found it.
So unless if we find conditions under which this can be reproduced, I do not think I can progress further. I am glad it works now.
Best regards

After uninstalling QuickOPC Production and installing QuickOPC again from QuickOPC-2021.2-Windows-Full.exe with installation type ‘Full installation’ our driver works again!! Attached both log files (#1: Installation of QuickOPC Production from within our INNO Setup -> OLE errors as mentioned, #2: Installation of QuickOPC Full -> No more errors).

Hello,
thank you for all the additional details.
It almost looks like that something went wrong during the installation of the QuickOPC components, although there were no errors.
We could try to troubleshoot further, but before that, can you simply try to reinstall QuickOPC (same version) — and, I would recommend doing so using the «full» installation package (but possibly selecting just the production installation).
And, just in case there is something suspicious in it, please try to collect the setup logs — both from your original setup, and from this new one: opclabs.doc-that.com/files/onlinedocs/QuickOpc/Latest/User%2…bleshooting%20the%20Setup.html .

Hello,
thank you for your fast response! To answer your questions:
1. The EasyUAClientConfiguration is the first object used in our driver, so I can’t say if other objects used later would cause the same error (but I think so). If it would be helpful I could write a short test program to clarify this.
2. Our driver including QuickOPC was re-installed on the same PC without uninstalling the previous installation before. We are installing QuickOPC from within our INNO Setup with
[Run]
Filename: «{app}QuickOPC-2021.2-Windows-Production.exe»; Parameters: «/VERYSILENT /TYPE=productioncom /LicenseFile=QuickOPCLicense.bin»;
3. Absolutely sure (see attached screenshot). Version 2021.2 is the version we bought a license for, I never used a newer version.

Hello,
I have some questions.
1. Do you know if other QuickOPC UA-related objects can be created, or is this the only one that has problems?
2. When you say «re-installed», do you mean that it was reinstalled on the same computer where it has worked before, or do you mean an installation on a new computer?
3. Also, are you sure that what you have installed
as last
was really version 2021.2, and not a different (newer) version?
The reason I am asking is because 2021.2 was the last version in which this object was called EasyUAClientConfiguration; in nwer versions it is EasyUAClientManagement.
Best regards

Our driver based on QuickOPC 2021.2 worked well until the driver (including QuickOPC 2021.2 Production) was re-installed. Now an OLE Error 80131534 including the class ID for CLASS_EasyUAClientConfiguration appears if a TEasyUAClientConfiguration object is created under Delphi 10.4 and Windows 10 (see attached screenshot). I checked the Windows registry for missing class specifications but everything seems to be o.k.
