How fix error 2162-0002 on update to 10.0.0 ( soft-brick )

Borrajo (Borrajo)

Is my first post.
When updating the console to version 10.0.0, it rebooted and an error appeared on the screen.
error 2162-0002

It did not start either in safe mode or in recovery mode.

After days and days of work, I found a solution.

Using advanced hacking techniques (setting atmosphere haha)
I could see that the problem was with the module (hid-sysmodule) id 01000000000013. days later nintendo put an update that only modified this module. ^ ^

We had to wait for Nintendo to release 10.0.1 to find the solution.

summarized step by step:
requirements:

  • the console must be «hackable» (must not be patched)
  • have a JIG
  • download tegraRCM.
  • download the hacDiskMount
  • download the following .zip drive google id 1BskyySpjkh3eqD8CCQbitrboREil12sk

1) turn off the console
2) put the jig and enter RCM mode
(it is recommended to make a backup)
3) open the tegraRCM and go to settings and install drivers
4) open the tegraRCM and go to tools, get the BIS_keys using tegraRCM
5) turn off and re-enter RCM mode
6) now select emuMMC rawnand and press ok
7) we accept that we will do it at our own risk
8) we run hacDiskMount as administrator
9) file -> open phisical drive
10) select linux drive (29.1GB)
1) select the system partition.

Copy the 32 character “BIS Key 2 (Crypt)” key you obtained earlier into the Crypto (Upper) text box
Copy the 32 character “BIS Key 2 (Tweak)” key you obtained earlier into the Tweak (Lower) text box
12) press test (should give OK in green)
13) select from the list of devices one available.
14) mount, wait and go to «my pc»

15) open the newly mounted SYSTEM partition and go to the contents/registered folder.
16) paste the zip folders and replace
17) close, go to the hacDiskMount and unmount.
18) we turn off the switch and turn it on.
19) READY! It will tell us that we have version 10.0.1 but it will still ask us to update.
20) update and you’re done

Hacking Question Error 2162-0002 after launching CFW Atmosphere from Hetake

MisterCrodolie

Member

This is the first time I’m trying to run a CFW (Atmosphere) on my Nintendo Switch (5.1.0) and I’m facing an issue to launch it.

I’ve setup my SD card with SDsetup, then I’ve run Hetake on the Nintendo Switch to launch CFW and the behavior is :

1 — Nintendo boot logo
2 — 30s black screen
3 — Nintendo boot logo
4 — 30s black screen
5 — Error screen 2162-0002
6 — Shutdown

I’ve seen two people facing the same issue on Reddit and Github saying that it get fixed by booting on Horizon with the SD card > request for and update > Switch updated > retry > works.

I don’t want to go for this option because I want to upgrade my switch with ChoixDuJourNX to be able to rollback and to not burn more efuse ^^.

Any help would be highly appreciate, also do you know any Slack or Discord I could use to talk about this issue ?

linuxares

I’m not a generous god!

Have you first of all taken a backup?

What guide have you followed to set this up?

MisterCrodolie

Yes I fully backup my nand yesterday during 70 minutes.

I’ve follow the HowTo on SDsetup that is prelly straight forward (I’m not able to post the link as I’m new user on GBAtemp).

Please find the results so far of my tests :

1 — Restart the process from scratch using the GBA HowTo = Same Issue
2 — Try with a brand new SD card = Same Issue

@intellettuanale Interesting point about Kosmos. I’m actually getting my SD card with the website Homebrew SD Setup (that is using Kosmos in the lastest version I guess V11). Do you recommend to give a try with a V10 version ?

Furthermore I’m using a SDXC card do you think that it could be the problem ? I’ve seen two posts on the net where the issue was resolved by an update of the firmware (when I boot on Horizon, the switch ask me for an update to use the SDXC card).

I’ve just seen on Nintendo website that an update is required for the Switch to support SDXC format. But it’s actually impossible to use ChoixDuJourNX to update without been able to boot on an CFW ?

Kiro04

Member

If you are in the 5.1.0 version, you already have the SDXC update. At least, my Switch update to 5.1.0 to allow mi 128 GB SD, and it works.

Edit myself: I’ve been use the SDFilesSwitch V10 (now Kosmos) and work greats for a long time!! Maybe, the new version its breaking the SD format?

2ND edit: From the Kosmos GitHub channelog:

  • Added a warning to discourage people using ExFAT with Kosmos Updater. It will also warn users not to use the built in restart option if they are using ExFAT.

MisterCrodolie

It was in fact an update required to get my SDXC card compatible.
Every time I was booting on Horizon (standard FW) the switch was asking for an update to support SDXC.
After upgrade my switch FW I was able to boot Atmosphere correctly with a SDXC card.

@Kiro04 the SDXC update is not related to a particular FW version but get triggered the first time you plug a SDXC card.

The best way to upgrade without burning efuse here should be :

1. Get a SDHC card to run Atmosphere, then upgrade using ChoixDuJourNX to get the update for SDXC card
2. Run Atmosphere from the SDXC card

For who are interested of 6.1.0, so far so good running for Fusée Gelée exploit on Linux, running Atmosphere and HB menu correctly, and launching NSP game fine.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

@Kiro04 Agree on exFAT, I’ve be able to get it run but it look like that FAT32 is doing better.

Hello guys! I’m new here but really could use some help…

I tried updating my switch from 9.2.0 to 11.0.1 via ChoiDojour(NX). And I tried to update my Atmosphere as well. But as soon as I tried to boot it up to my CFW I keep getting this error.

I did have a theme installed but I deleted both the «atmosphere» and «sept» files from the root of my SD card and copied over the «original» folders but still no luck.

I’ve attached the image of the error code below. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Your supposed to Un-install the theme before you update. Try completely starting over with fresh install of atmosphere on sd card. You need the «Atmosphere» and «Sept» folders

Thanks for your response. I have a few folders that look like that but doesn’t have that exact sequence. Do I delete all the files that start out with 0100000…

Sorry I totally miswrote that. I meant to say I delete and installed a «new» and original folder for «Atmosphere» and «Sept»

I would do a clean new install of all atmosphere files on your sd card. Sounds like your mixing up old files w new.

I would hate to do a fresh install of Atmosphere because that would cause me to lose all my downloaded games and save data for those games… Happened to me last time I did a fresh install of Atmosphere.

But I did find the theme that I had installed onto my switch. It was in the root of the SD card. Should I just delete that? Maybe that would work?

Well, I know worst come you can backup the «Nintendo» folder to your pc, so your installed games can be saved, then copied back to sd card from pc, after completely formating it then fresh atmos install, then you’ll have create another emuMMC, like you mentioned you had to do last time. That’s only thing i can think of at this point. Maybe someone else can chime in here and help. Your gave saves should be on the switch itself, not sd card. Do you have another sd card you can put Only fresh atmos files on to boot, make sure in Airplane mode, then use Checkpoint homebrew to backup all your game saves, then copy to pc also, if you want to be for sure you have the game saves also. Good luck and sorry I couldn’t help you more.

Are you using a legit brand name sd card? Usually that error code is a sd card read error.

Fat32 or exfat?

  • #15

Like The Great Milenko said…if it’s exfat then most likely corrupted. You may get lucky and find the one game that’s corrupted by checking each game one by one, then delete the game that is corrupted. But you should have your sd card formated to Fat32!

It’s fat32. I was trying to avoid any issues with corruption and went with fat32.

how would I go about checking each game 1 by 1 on the sd card? What would I be looking for? And is uninstalling the game as easy as just moving the game files to the trash on my desktop?

it is a legit sandisk card. The 400gb card

If you are able to run the switch without it crashing, try starting each game one at a time till you find one that says game corrupted, then delete that one. If switch can’t run without crashing, I’d just format the Sd card and start over, imo. fresh files for all. You can backup your «Nintendo» folder to pc to save all your installed games, but looks like it’s a corruption error so I’d personally re-install all those games again, cause could be just 1 corrupted game to cause all the problems.

Do you have the latest hekate on that rcm loader? And when you get to the hekate boot screen, try going to «payloads» and select «fusee-primary»

Sounds like a custom theme problem. Does the error go away if you delete /atmosphere/contents/0100000000001000?

yes, it was the custom theme that was causing the problem. thank you

Hi guys waiting to be fine I have the error 010000000000100f (attached log of the folder fatal report). As evidence it happens to me with the game super smash bros ultimate when starting both story mode or any other mode. What I have tried so far:
1- Just play the version without updates.
2- install the latest update
3- install different updates and nothing

Please I need your help I have tried and tried everything in my power

01584409357_010000000000100f.log

Same issue with the same game

Thx @SciresM. Worked for me.

For me. it dosen’t give 0100000000001000(custom theme problem) but 4200000000000010 with error code 2168-0002 happens at boot EDIT:i have deepsea fix for It was Just delete the atmosphere folder and recopy it

Same issue with the same game

Did you solve it?

Work! great! deleting folder — /atmosphere/contents/0100000000001000
themes trouble!

Same error here playing Mario Odyssey. It happens when leaving the Mario _movements guide_. As the game is done to go though this guide to get next stage it always crashes.

I don’t have the (in)famous 0100000000001000 folder so, what else have you tried ppl?

Atmosphere ver: 0.14.3-master-28ceedb5
Firmware: 10.2.0

This issue is a closed one. Please open a new issue filling out the template with attached crash report, else seek support in the ReSwitched or Nintendo Homebrew discord servers.

Sorry for that. Where can I find the crash error? It is located in crash_reports folder? Thank you very much and excuse me for the inconvenience.

If the error screen was blue with white text, the error log will likely be inside the crash_reports folder, yes, although it may be inside the fatal_reports folder.

If the error screen was black with white text, the error log will be a binary file inside the fatal_errors folder.
