IE Error Code
An IE error code indicates that the level of water in the unit did not get high enough after 10 minutes of filling. To resolve this error, please check the following:
-
Newly Installed units.
If the unit was recently installed, be certain that the water supply valve is turned ON and the water line is not kinked or bent.
-
Water pressure.
Water pressure must be between 20 — 120 PSI. If this is too low, contact a plumber to correct the issue.
-
Drain Hose outlet installation.
If your drain hose outlet is installed lower than the base of your dishwasher, it is possible that this could cause premature draining.
The height of the drain hose end must be over 10 inches (almost 12 inches) from the bottom of the dishwasher to avoid water being siphoned from the tub. In this case, reinstall it according to the instructions in the owner’s manual. You can download a copy from our Manuals and Documents
-
Winter weather.
If your dishwasher is installed in a location where parts of it could be exposed to temperatures below freezing, it is possible for parts of the dishwasher to freeze. Melt the frozen parts by soaking a towel in warm water and wrapping it around the frozen area. Once the frozen area has thawed the dishwasher should be able to operate.
-
Improper leveling.
Check the leveling of your dishwasher as improper leveling may cause IE.
-
Flood Safe Hose/Check valve.
Flood Safe hoses and check valves may interrupt the water supply, due to high water pressure passing through the inlet valve. It is recommended to remove such devices in favor of standard inlet hose.
Inspect the water line for kinks or bends that may be prevent proper filling.
If you perform all the above steps and the the IE error code persist, the unit will require a repair service. Please visit our Request a Repair page.

Only use dishwasher detergents such as cascade, finish e.t.c.
-
Is the dishwasher level?
The dishwasher must be leveled properly from front to back and side to side to ensure proper drainage and avoid damage and malfunction. For more instructions, please visit our LG Dishwasher — Leveling page.
-
Are there suds visible in the dishwasher tub?
If suds are visible, pour 4-7 ounces of milk in a shallow bowl, place it on the upper rack, and run the appliance on the AUTO cycle. The fat content in the milk will give the suds something to bond to, allowing it to rinse out properly.
If you always use the right detergent, the dishwasher is level, and there are no suds in the tub, then RESET the power and run a cycle again with proper detergent.

If you’re looking for help fixing your LG Dishwasher, look no further! Our comprehensive LG Dishwasher error code guide will explain common issues, provide tips, and show you how to read your model’s error codes.
CODE: IE
PROBLEM: Not filling
FIX: Check that the water supply cut-off valve for the dishwasher is fully open. Check the water inlet supply hose for a kink. Unplug the dishwasher, shut off the water supply and disconnect the inlet supply hose from the inlet water valve. Check the filter screen on the inlet water valve for a clog-replace the valve if the filter screen is clogged.
CODE: OE
PROBLEM: Not draining
FIX: Check the sink drain or garbage disposal for a clog and clear any clogs you find. If the sink or garbage disposal drains okay, pull off the dishwasher drain hose from the sink or garbage disposal connection and check the end of the drain hose for a grease clog. Clear grease clogs from the drain hose. If the dishwasher uses an air gap, check the air gap for clogs and clear any clogs.
CODE: AE or E1
PROBLEM: Water leak detected
FIX: Abnormally high circulation pump speed caused by low water level in the tub can cause the AE or E1 error codes. Water that leaks into the base of the dishwasher cabinet and trips the flood switch can also cause the AE or EI code. Unplug the dishwasher and shut off the water supply. Check the dishwasher cabinet base for water. If water leaked into the base, find and repair the cause of the leak. Water could leak from the water fill line, water inlet guide, drain pump, drain hose, door seals or sump.
CODE: FE
PROBLEM: Water overflow detected
FIX: The drain pump automatically runs when the FE code is displayed. A leaking water inlet valve or a stuck relay on the electronic control board can allow water to fill the dishwasher constantly. To check for a leaky water inlet valve, unplug the dishwasher and see if the tub continues to fill with water. If it does, shut off the water supply and replace the water inlet valve because the valve is letting water to flow into the dishwasher constantly.
CODE: tE
PROBLEM: Thermistor (temperature sensor) failure
FIX: Unplug the dishwasher and disconnect the wires from the thermistor on the heater. Measure the resistance through the thermistor using a multimeter. The meter should measure 11,320 ohms at 75 degrees (room temperature). Replace the heater assembly (which includes the thermistor) if the meter measures less than 1,000 ohms or more than 20,000 ohms.
CODE: LE
PROBLEM: Locked up circulation pump motor
FIX: Unplug the dishwasher and check for an obstruction that’s preventing the pump impeller from spinning. Remove any debris or foreign objects from the sump. If the pump impeller is clear, check the wiring connections on the pump and reconnect any loose wires. If the wiring connections are okay, unplug the wire harness from the motor and check the resistance through pins 1-2, pins 2-3 and pins 1-3 of the motor using a multimeter. The meter should measure between 8 and 20 ohms (resistance of the motor windings).
CODE: HE
PROBLEM: Heater failure
FIX: This code appears when water isn’t heating or when the thermistor (temperature sensor) detects that water temperature is higher than 194 degrees. If water inside the dishwasher tub is extremely hot, measure water temperature using an accurate thermometer. If the thermometer measures water temperature near 190 degrees, then you’ll likely need to replace the electronic control board because a stuck heater relay on the control board is causing the heating element to stay on constantly.
CODE: nE
PROBLEM: Diverter motor failure
FIX: Unplug the dishwasher and check the wire harness connections on the diverter motor and diverter position switch. Reconnect any loose wires. If the wiring connections are okay, unplug the diverter motor wires and check resistance through the motor using a multimeter. The meter should measure around 4,000 ohms of resistance. Replace the diverter motor if the meter measure infinite resistance.

For the last 2 years I have not been able to use my dishwasher. The reason is when it goes through a cycle it comes out smelling. I have had 5 repair man out here and they say there is nothing they can do — its the dishwasher itself. I paid over $1000 for this piece of junk. The only solution that they gave me was to go to a hardware store and get an item that you put into the dishwasher and its supposed to clean it. Needless to say I still cant use my dishwasher. When I bought all my appliances stainless steel this was supposed to be the best. I live on Social Security and its going to be hard for me to go out and buy a new one. It will not be an LG. I was literally washed the dishes before I would use the dishwasher. Now when I wash my dishes by hand at least I know theyre clean. I am very upset with this product. I have never complained to consumers but in this case I have to. Beware and if you do decide to get an LG make sure you have a very long extended warranty.

Have a three year old product that is off warranty. Purchased at Home Depot. Called to find out who repairs product in our area as water is surging out the bottom of the door. I was advised in our town of 70000 plus people no one repairs LG products. I contact LG: I have to pay from some to come from out of town to fix dishwasher. I contacted a number of local companies they stated they do not work on LG products because to poor customer service from LG and it is hard to get parts.

Newer LG stainless steel dishwasher came with home we purchased 2011. Had to fix after two months of move in. It wasnt draining. Fixed then it had to be fixed. A few months after that, it wouldnt turn on. It has constant mold problem. I ran with bleach, I wipe between rubber molding inside where mold is with bleach, run vinegar cycle clean. Find mold on cups and mold grew all over wood handle item. Some rust on inside sides, 2 hour run time. Power button is way too sensitive, starts on own as bumping against it starts it. Also the tines on bottom rack are so close that front part bottom rack is unusable and top rack doesnt hold glasses well, had several glasses break. Bad design all around, bottom rack is very low to floor. I would never buy an LG dishwasher.

I purchased an LG dishwasher in 2018 and loved the concept. A third rack on the top and a large silverware basket on the lower bottom rack with plenty of room for dishes. In late 2020 I started experiencing times that it would stop running in mid cycle and as time went on it became more and more frequent and more difficult to restart. I had a technician come to look at it which cost $96.00 and was told it was a circuit board problem which would cost over $400.00 to replace. I was informed this was very common in LG and once that was fixed it was also very common for some other problem to occur. He advised purchasing another dishwasher.

We purchased and LG refrigerator and dishwasher about 2 years ago. Have had nothing but problems with the refrigerator, but it is working for now. The dishwasher will not clean the dishes. Because it is out of warranty, I called to get a service appointment set up only to be told that the price which I had been quoted by two of their representatives had gone up over $100 when I finally got to the department which could schedule the service. $100 in less than three minutes? I was told that it was due to sales tax. Total nonsense as nobody charges over 60% tax and we dont even pay tax on service calls in this state! After calling back, I managed to get the price back down to what was promised and secured an appointment for the next afternoon. The next morning I received an overnight-mail package. It was the pump for my dishwasher which had arrived before the technician could even look at the machine. Obviously LG has had this problem many times before if they know the problem before they can even look at the appliance! Why was there no recall of the defective part if the problem is that common? This company is to be avoided at all costs. They will lie to you and will do absolutely anything to avoid accepting responsibility for their worthless products! If there were a negative number of stars with which I could rate them, I would.

Bought the dishwasher 4 years ago. Rack system collapses when you load plates — had to jerry rig something to prevent from happening, the hose discharging the water leaked after 3 years of normal use (very thin, cheap hose I had to replace), had numerous occasions where it would not pump water out so had to manually remove the water and it would then worked again until now when it is not longer pumping. I think I am going to start buying disposable appliances — the kind that cost less you dont feel bad throwing away after a few years of use cause they did not cost a fortune…

Bought a LG dishwasher in October 2016, due to shipping issues did not get until December, installed myself, first use it took about 6 hours to complete a cycle, and dishes were still dirty, soap dispenser never opened. Called Lowe’s, they told me to call LG, and they would schedule a service call. Well they set up one for 30 days from a lawnmower company? They came, said I had a loose wire, my fault, well before they got very far away dishwasher quit. Well to make a long story short, here it is August 18, and my dishwasher still does not work. LG keeps turning me over to AE service which I dont know who is more useless, every time they schedule someone I get a phone call within a few days of appointment from a service tech that either tells me I am too far away to service, or they no longer service LG due to not being paid, some say they cannot get parts, or get wrong parts. I have been told 3 times by LG service that I was being escalated to a buy back since I have had so many problems, but keep getting the run around. Today I was offered to buy an extended warranty, what a joke. At this rate it will be out of warranty before I ever see a repairman, she agreed, and said that’s a good reason to buy this extended repair warranty. If anyone wants to call me ** I am ready to get people together to contact the Better Business Bureau, if they have had the same issue, someone need to stand up for our consumer rights. I dont even have mine hooked up, gave 15 year old General Electric away, and never had a problem with it, brother in law loves it.

On 10.01.12, I complained that our LG Front load washing machine model no. F 1056LDP was not working. The service person came and spotted that panel wire was cut and told that the panel was out of stock. After a gap of 15 days, he came and changed the wire and left without checking due to current failure at that time. He assured that he will come after half an hour when the current comes to check the running of the machine. We paid Rs.500/-to him even though the machine was under warranty. But the machine was not working even after changing of wire. So again, we phoned to M/s. Golden Enterprises, Chennai-60 but nobody took the phone. Even after 20 days nobody turned up to rectify the machine. Again, we spoke with LG Customer Care and registered a complaint. But then also till date no one came to even see the machine. Due to this we have suffered a lot and it is really a mental agony after having spent Rs.20,000/- on the machine. We do not know where to complain about the irregularities in the services of LG company. It is very disheartening to note that such an esteemed organization has failed to cater to the needs of a customer.

We bought an inverter direct drive about 5 years ago from Home Depot and shortly after we had it, it did not clean very well. We called and they came out and changed the pump and it worked for a short time. The second time they came out they looked at it but did not much seem to care. The dishwasher has not worked properly since we have had it. The dishwasher that we got rid of and was way much older cleaned better on its last leg than this one did. Do not buy LG products.

This is the worst washing machine ever invented! The 23-year-old Kenmore I replaced was still running and better than this. If the drum hadnt developed rust spots, I would have kept it. If you want a science project that grows mold, this is your machine. I wiped out the gasket with Clorox wipes, leave the door open when not in use and it still grows mold. My towels smell like someone urinated on them. I have had service out here and nothing is fixed. I was sold tablets to wash the drum with; did not fix the problem. This was the biggest waste of money I ever spent. I want my old Kenmore back. There is no quality any more, the dishwasher I bought from Sears is of poor quality too. I was a lifetime Sears shopper for appliances. In the 35 years I have been married, we bought all our major appliance at Sears, as did my parents. Where is the quality now?

The 10 year warranty that covers the compressor is not worth the paper it is printed on. My fridge is running hot to get it fixed under warranty I have to pay $250.00 for labor. The only thing covered is the part. I asked how long will it take to change the compressor, 2 to 3 hours Im told. At what cost per hour, cant tell me that. I asked if they could come out if it is the compressor can they leave it and I will have it installed, told no. I asked if I could find my own certificated LG technician told no they will not supply the compressor. So the only option is pay the $250 or risk having someone charge me double because LG cant tell me how much it will cost per hour for a tec. Also have an LG dishwasher not working, both appliances less than 6 years old. Either have a warranty or dont because this so called one is not worth it. I will never buy LG again.

Unfortunately we did not read reviews before purchasing our LG Model 5040ST
Unfortunately we did not read reviews before purchasing our LG Model 5040ST Dishwasher in June 2013 through a local Home Depot. We were replacing a dishwasher that had run well for several years but which finally sprang enough leaks that it could not be patched and we also hoped to improve the water usage/efficiency with a newer appliance. We liked the efficiency ratings, noise ratings, and features for the LG and got a great deal on one normally priced at nearly $700 for a mere $498. The plastic components discolored very quickly and became gray and somewhat brittle. However, it continued to clean, although it slowly became progressively more noisy. Two months ago we got the dreaded message that the motor was seized.Calling LG, I spoke with Bryan who I finally had to ask to stop eating while talking with me so we could get through the call a bit quicker. I explained at the beginning of the call that the motor had seized according to the diagnostics. At the end of his script of questions, he asked me what the problem was. Ultimately he told me it wasnt in warranty and I had to tell him that the parts were still under warranty. He agreed, but then told me it would likely cost $75 for a visit and around $200 in labor so he wasnt sure it was worth repairing. When I told him I would like to get the contacts of the approved repair folks, he gave me two numbers. He then asked me if he could have my email address so they could send me promotional materials about other LG products. I told him that a dishwasher whose motor seized after less than 18 months of use was not a great advertisement for the brand so no, he could not have my email address to promote other products. We have had four dishwashers in 40 years. Each has lasted 8-9 years minimum — and one we simply left behind in a move and it continued to be used by the people we left it with for several more years. The dishwasher is very attractive and still looks brand new. After my husband and I talked through what it would cost to get this repaired — with the same type of motor that seized after just 18 months, and with the clear lack of care or pride of ownership by LG representatives, we decided there was little point and we are putting it out on the curb. Instead, we went back online to renew our subscription to companies that we trust that rate appliances and next time we will do more research first. I have no illusions that LG cares one bit about their products or they would have better trained personnel on their call centers and they would have a product that meets minimum expectations for a common household appliance. My only reason for submitting this review is to hopefully help someone else make a more informed decision. Im just so sorry I didnt come here first.

I was cleaning the exterior of my LG washer WM2701H with a soft dry dishtowel and the printing around the dial wiped off. Never in my life have I had any appliance that I have cleaned on the outside that the printing just wiped off. I was not using any cleaners or liquid on it. The service person I talked to said that the printing coming off was not covered by the warranty. To me that is not the point. In this day and age with the technology we have as a country, you should be able to buy a washer that when cleaning, the printing doesnt wipe off. The washer manual say that the outside of the machine can be cleaned with warm water and mild, non abrasive household detergent. Immediately wipe off any spills with a soft, damp cloth. I guess LG doesnt care about the consumer. Im so disappointed in their non-response to problems people are having with such expensive washers and dryers. Im surprised Sears still sales LG products. Its giving them a bad name too.

A $1,000 joke — We purchased an LG Black Granite model from Home Depot in November of 2018. It has NOT worked more than it has worked. Dealing with customer service is one of the most frustrating aspects of this whole experience. We have had a new power board, a re-wire and now waiting on a door component. All while the CS rep is trying to tell me to pull out the unit and shorter the legs… ummm what?It is now March and it is not working again. All through the holidays we had no dishwasher and have spent hours sitting here either on the phone or waiting for repair service. I will NEVER again. Home Depot should not even sell this brand. All of the consumers that have has issues should band together and file a lawsuit to re-coup the cost of these poorly built units. We are so disappointed.

We were very excited to purchase all LG black stainless appliances for our new kitchen which was completed at the end of Sept 2017. By the end of October, we realized the dishwasher (LDF7774BD) is just the WORST. Since this is newer technology than what we had, it was my hope that we just needed to learn how to use it. It is now end of the year and still very dissatisfied. Dishes do not come clean, nor do they dry. Wash time is the longest I have ever seen — over 2 hours for a normal wash cycle. All racks are bad design. The bottom rack comes off the track every time we use it. The adjustable racks fall down no matter how you adjust them. The top rack is supposed to be height adjustable but the only adjustment we can find is to remove the racks so that we can wash our 6.5 inch tall glasses in the glass rack. After only a year and two months after purchase, our LG dishwasher (LDS4821ST) is obviously having a drain pump issue, and thankfully we purchased the service plan at Home Depot. This washer sucks. It has become noisy, the panel freaks out and sometimes you cannot choose certain wash cycles, and now this drain pump issue. Its a huge piece of **. Follow my advice, since I know people with more expensive washers — get something like a Bosch or, if you really have the cash, a Miele. If you purchase an LG, you will regret it. Oh, and we also have an LG refrigerator, which also sucks. Although there are no real problems yet, it cools unevenly, and even when the unit is set at 36, some zones read 42-44 degrees (I have a digital chefs thermometer), which is in the danger zone for food (40/140 rule).

We purchased an LG LDF8072ST PREMIUM dishwasher from Best Buy on Dec. 12, 2012. Since it has been installed, the performance of this product has been terrible. The drying cycle is terrible and when I contacted LG, I was informed that this was the way it was supposed to work because it is a new advanced HYBRID drying system?? Even when we put it on extra dry, it still did not dry the dishes. With the performance still terrible, 4 weeks ago, the dishwasher quit working completely. When I contacted the LG online chat service feature, it was a joke. I spent more time verifying that I had bought a dishwasher than anything else. He finally determined that my dishwasher was Shot and he ordered a technician to come out. 10 tens later, a technician from a local repair facility came out, and he verified my dishwasher was not working??? He brought no replacement parts, but verified the unit had crapped out.Two weeks later, he returned with a main board and got the dishwasher running. He tested a few cycles and declared it ready to go. I was out of town and my wife was leaving that afternoon, so she loaded up the dishwasher and started it before she left. When I got home three days later and opened the dishwasher, the dishes were still wet????? This is the first dishwasher that I have owned that drying dishes as part of the cycle is part of the dishwasher!I have gone on LGs website and written to them and have not heard back! For what they charge for their products, I would expect a better support/service system in place. Dealing with LG is as bad as dealing with Sears in the past. If this is not resolved, I will do my research and make sure my replacement dishwasher dries dishes and is not an LG.

LG Dishwasher Model ldf7561st — Wow, wish I read these reviews before purchasing. We upgraded our kitchen with new appliances, all LG. To be honest, the other appliances have been OK for their purchase price… This dishwasher, however, has broken down after 2 years of normal use. After calling their very friendly customer service phone bank (that has no actual power to do anything), I was informed that, lucky for me, in order to repair the dishwasher, I had two options: pay $400 for a warranty or only $265 for a repair! I have been loading home dishwashers for over sixty years and my LGF7774 is the worst, and I must say, nearly impossible to load effectively. Because it doesn’t seem to be designed for actual dishes, it takes longer to load, as I have to move things around constantly to get them where they will actually get clean. The top rack areas for glasses seems to be slanted wrong and are the wrong width. As a result the glasses often fall over and break as I’m closing the tray. The bottom rack is even more frustrating. Those prongs that flop down to accommodate (what?), pans perhaps, may have seemed like a good idea to some engineer, but in use they plop down whether you want them to or not. The bottom of the lower rack could also use some redesigning. I have many square dishes and have to be over-cautious about seeing that the corners don’t extend downward where they will interfere with the spray arm.The dishes washed appear to be clean, but don’t smell clean. I’m asking the world of manufacturers, “If the user has to rewash things, or wash them before using a machine, how much water and electricity is that saving? And if I cover the food-left-on smell with a scented rinse does that make the dishes cleaner?” In fairness I must add that I just discovered that it has an extra rinse cycle and am at the moment trying that one out.

We purchased the LG French door, bottom freezer about 5 years ago. We spent the extra money because we thought that LG was one of the best at the time. This model has only the water-in-the-door; icemaker in bottom drawer. The salesperson showed us why THIS bottom drawer was better than others with the same idea: the gear-type rollers were more substantial and the slides were larger. The rationale was that it would be more durable. In the past year, the freezer drawer is becoming harder and harder to pull out and/or push in. I have taken the bin out and found grease/graphite on the bottom of the unit and along the left rail. Water from the icemaker also tends to build up as it sometimes drips onto the left rail, making the rolling very difficult. After wiping it out, it seems to be fine for a few hours…then its hard again. We have had it with LG appliances. We had an LG dishwasher that nobody would work on. The LG washer/dryer that we have, are doing OK for now, but the bellows in the bottom of the washer where the water is pumped has cracked twice in 5 years, allowing water to run get on the floor. I should have had a pan put under the washer, but this indicates either bad engineering or bad design.

We purchased an LG LDF7551ST dishwasher in June 2012 for $800. While under warranty, in June 2013, it stopped working (Error message E1) and needed service and parts replaced. In September 2013, the same issue occurred and the dishwasher needed to be serviced and similar parts replaced. This happened a third time this past Tuesday, July 15. This is obviously defective merchandise and LG refuses to replace the machine. They say that they are doing me a favor by extending the warranty on the parts being replaced. Some for the second and possibly now the third time.I have, to date, needed to take time off from work five times: once each for the appliance company to come to evaluate the problem and once for them to replace the parts. In addition, I have been on the phone with LG for numerous hours both on hold and trying to get some kind of resolution to this matter. The managers I spoke with both said they are at the highest level of decision making and refused to replace this machine. They told me I could write a letter to LG but it would come to them and nothing more would be done and I would not even get a response. I purchased a defective machine which should be replaced. I do not have the time nor patience to have to deal with this issue every few months.

This is the first step on my mission to educate my friends before anyone buys a new dishwasher. Do Not buy LG brand dishwasher. If you do, do yourself a favor and buy the extended warranty, you will need it. I started having an issue right after mine went out of warranty. I paid for one repair, about $150, and that didnt fix the problem. Then I had a different repair person come out, factory authorized mind you, and he replaced some parts. He was here 3 times for another $350 and the problem persisted. I didnt bother to call him back, just thought I could live with the noise that was coming out because the machine was cleaning my dishes just fine. However, last night the same error code that started the whole thing happened again. So today I called to speak to LG Consumer services. I once again got the runaround, with the technician telling me I had to perform something on the machine and see if it worked. I gave him hell and reminded him how much I spent on the high end dishwasher and how much I have spent in repairs already and I think its BS to expect the consumer to do anything to try and fix it. The first time I called, he had me running around looking for screwdrivers so I could level a dishwasher that didnt need leveling! So, I told him I wouldnt do what he wanted me to and I didnt expect to have to pay for yet another service call for this crappy machine. I wanted to speak to his supervisor. When she got on the phone, I went through the whole thing again and of course the parts that were replaced are now not under warranty, so the only thing they could do is suggest I call the repairman again and have him call them to assist in figuring out what the problem. Of course I would need to pay for all of this, since there is no warranty left. I told the supervisor that I dont think that I will. I will go and buy a different dishwasher of another brand before I put more good money after bad. I have already spent more than half in repairs on what I paid for the stupid thing in the first place.

Does a decent job washing dishes but unit is very noisy. Supposed to be at 48 decibels but this unit is much louder than that. Front touch pad is extremely sensitive. Just brushing against it starts the washer. Upper rack also is rusting after only 10 months usage. Dealer through which it was purchased has gone out of business so I am waiting for LG to get back to me as to if they are going to repair. Says right in the manual that racks have a 5 year warranty. Dont know what all the delay is about. The reason I purchased unit was because of the excellent refrigerator we purchased. Will think twice in the future.

The only LG appliance still running in my house is the clothes washer, which has rust showing around the top of the tub. I am holding my breath to see how much longer it will go before it too takes a dump. Then NO MORE LG anything in this house.

I had a kitchen aid dishwasher for 15 years with no problem. Updated my appliances and got a high end LG dishwasher. It is so disappointing. Bottom rack keeps falling off the track. Dishes dont get clean — have to prewash dishes. Silverware container keeps falling apart. Worst of all — after 1 /1/2 years it has stopped draining. $200 for a technician to come out. I feel violated. I thought I was buying a good brand and it is a piece of **.

I purchased an LG dishwasher 2 months ago and I keep getting car for codes 3 different ones. Service man came out. Said machine is junk. Should be replaced. So LG in the Philippines sends out a 2nd repair company and he cant figured it out so he ordered 3 different parts… And broke my tiles in my kitchen and said if 2 service people come out and cannot figure it out theyll replace the dishwasher. I have sent several messages to a lady named Heather in Alabama who has stopped emailing me back. And all return calls have stopped although I call every day. Been dealing with LG warranty dept for 3 weeks every day… Leaving messages and emails and my problem is still unresolved. I would never recommend any LG product ever.

We live in a small town about 5 miles from the Lowes in Lewistown PA. Service for out of warranty LG is not readily available from Lowes by certified repairmen in our area. Verify service availability before you buy. Apparently Lowes advertises and sells these LG products without making you aware of this problem.

We have had the dishwasher 3-4 years, it has been working fine. Then I start smelling something and take of the panel. A wire had come loose and melted the side then started melting plugs. After I had taken everything apart I found that not only had a wire come loose but the left side of the washer was rusting. See pics. How in the world does this happen in such a short time with everything is suppose to be sealed. LG told they couldnt or wouldnt do anything because it was out of warranty. I guess if you get a couple of days out of warranty watch out your house, could burn down because for shoddy labor. Never buy an LG again.

I have now seen hundreds if not thousands of online pictures of my similar issue with this product. The control panel is NOT sealed correctly so the steam seeps out on the top and has entered the thin plastic which encases the control panel and created small but obvious cracks. This would not happen if the door/panel was sealed tightly with some form of a seal, which it is not. It is plastic meets plasic on a edge. Therefore the steam enters creating heat and pressure and cracking the display as well as allowing moisture into the electrical panel.** Here is a link to a video that shows the issue. This is a design flaw. Its also a hazard since the water vapor is seeping into the panel. My dishwasher is also not very old. I do not recommend this product since the design flaw not only has NOT been fixed, it has not been addressed by LG despite numerous reports on the web. Shame on LG for allowing a flaw to just continue each year in this model.

We purchased an LG French door with freezer drawer in bottom. Have had problems with mold developing along the door gaskets as doors do not closed properly. Yesterday, there was an odor that smelled like burning plastic. It smelled like some electrical insulation was burning. The smell diminished, but this morning we discovered that the electrical cord was burning at the outlet. I called the service contract people and was told that the electric cord was not covered, that if they sent someone out it would cost $100.00+. Drove to the local HHGregg store where we purchased it originally and spoke with the manager, which was as helpful as talking to the service provider. In my opinion, both Gregg and the service provider are dishonest about their policy coverage. It appears that I am not alone with this problem.

On September 24, 2007 I purchased an LG refrigerator (model # LRSC26923TT), dishwasher and microwave at Gabowitz Appliances, East Brunswick, New Jersey. At that time I purchased an extended warranty for the refrigerator. The refrigerator needed to have the icemaker replaced within the year. The repairman told me it was a defective part and since then, it has had to be replaced four times for the same reason. The icemaker melts and becomes deformed. LG keeps replacing the defective part with another defective part as they have not fixed the defect. My extended warranty expires in September, 2012 and from hereon in, I will have to pay approximately $350.00—the price the repairman said it will cost—when it again needs a repair since it was again replaced with a part that is the same as the defective part (as per the repairman). When I wrote to LG they just answered that it is out of the manufacturer’s warranty and they have no obligations.

I had a an old Kenmore dishwasher that lasted some 20+ years. It worked great but after so much use (twice a day!), I had to replace this n that on it but overall it was awesome! The end came when we were no longer able to buy the electronic board to operate (most of the repairs/replacement we did on our own, following the schematics and watching Youtube video instructions). Alas, finally, it died and the search was on for a new dishwasher. I read many reviews and settled on the LG. That was my first mistake. The LG was installed 6.18.18 (model #LDT7808ST). I was very excited to have a new, modern dishwasher after all these years! It was sadly short lived. Just a few short months later, I was sick of hearing the bing bing bing that goes off to alert the user of escaping steam. Except there wasnt any escaping steam. When the repairman came out ($150), he told me it was a problem with this model in that the steam created was leeching into the electronics and causing the board to short out, thus the bing bing bing noises. He replaced the board with a newly designed board to alleviate this issue that LG knew about. Finally the sound stopped and all was well. Except a few months later the binging began again. During the interim, I found on two different occasions, small chunks of black rubber. Now what?? I searched inside the dishwasher but couldnt find anything…until yesterday. Now I realize its part of the cowling that feeds water inside the tub. Unfortunately in order to see exactly whats going on with it, I have to figure out how to remove the lower water arm. And because this cowling has become unstable, its blocking the arm from turning freely. So now I have a lower armature that is half-way turning and binging and bonging and dishes that are being poorly washed. COLOR ME DONE! DO NO BUY THIS BRAND DISHWASHER!! I paid over $1,000 and its falling apart after a year and a half. LG brags that the motor has a ten year warranty. That is little value when the rest of the machine is falling apart before a year is even over!

After two years, our LG dishwasher stopped pumping out the water after washing. Upon calling LG customer service, after having to pre-pay an expensive repair bill, they sent a technician to our home to repair the machine. We are now on our fifth visit and the machine is still not repaired. The repair person just took the new parts, put them in the machine, slid the machine back into the cabinet and left, never to return to complete the job.The machines quality is poor, parts difficult to get, and service totally incompetent. Avoid this companys products at all costs. They are over priced, do not last, and are difficult to get repaired. We also own an LG refrigerator and after one year, the ice maker/water dispenser system totally failed. We are talking about a two thousand five hundred dollar refrigerator. Again, avoid LG appliances, they are junk! Their repair service is just as bad, if not worse.

About 3 years ago I purchased an LG dishwasher Model LDP6797ST. I was very happy with it at first until about 1 year and a couple of months. One day a received the error message AE. At the time I did not know what it stand for. I contacted LG and to their credit they sent a technician to repair the unit. What he did that day is replaced a circuit board at the door and the machine was working. And now 2 years later after the repair I received the same AE error message. The thing is that error message according to LG is a water leak. I called a repairman who confirm I have a leak coming from the drain pump. It would cost about $600 to fix. In his word I better off buying a new dishwasher. I paid good money for that dishwasher (about $700) and it only last 3 yrs. I am not sure I will ever buy an LG appliance again. I am now again looking for dishwasher. Very disappointed.

I purchased my LG dishwasher (Model LDF7774SD) in May 2016. It is less than a year old. Starting in February 2017, the dishwasher started having issues. The soap tablet compartment does not dispense the soap tablet, leaving the dishes as dirty as when they were loaded. I have tried liquid as well and after the cycle is finished and you open the door it is running down the inside of the door. LG sent a serviceman to repair the dishwasher twice, and it is still not operating. He replaced the motor as well as some other parts. I have placed nine calls to their customer support center, with no resolution. They keep stating they are sorry for the inconvenience, but refuse to replace the unit.Today May 21, 2017, I contacted them again, since I have not heard from them. First I was directed to their customer service in the Philippines then to their operation in the Bahamas and then to their support center in Costa Rica and back to the Philippines. You can barely understand the representatives. They are more concerned with updating their system notes than correcting the problem and providing good customer service. I asked to speak to their engineering or quality control department, but was told they have no way to contact them, and could not provide a phone number. In addition to the soap not dispensing, dishes fall over when going through the cycle, as the tines are spaced too far apart. Many of the glasses after they fall over, fill with water, and surprise when you open the door… water everywhere. When I spoke to a customer service supervisor, and asked him what I should do until/if they repair or replace the unit, he said I guess you will need to wash them by hand. I have never dealt with a company like this before. I will be submitting a complaint with the BBB. Forget about contacting the number listed on the web, for the North American Corporate office. You cant reach anyone. If you try to leave a message, it states the voicemail is full. I will never buy another appliance from LG. (Life is Good) NOT! If I could give them a negative rating I would. You would be very wise to stay away from this company. Why any retail store would carry their line of appliances is beyond me.

Save your money. Do not buy LG appliances. We spent almost $1000 on a dishwasher in May 2019. By November 2019 the motor was going, as explained to us by an LG service/ repairman. Called the Corp office in AL they told us to buy a new DW and they would send a third party vendor out to pick up the damaged DW and reimburse use the purchase price, NOT the delivery and installation fees. We purchased another more expensive dishwasher, not LG, and put the old one in our garage. After a zillion phone calls the DW was picked up in January! We were told the check was in the mail. Since no check has arrived, a call was made AGAIN to LG Corp. Advised they still don’t have the DW!! Obviously the check in the mail was a lie!! Called the fulfillment center who advised DW has not been picked up yet by FedEx, even though it was picked up at our house on 1/22!! It is now 2/10, about 3 months since this nightmare started and we are out $2000 for purchasing 2 dishwashers????

I used to love LG products; however, my wife and I bought an LG refrigerator along with an LG washer, dryer, microwave, and dishwasher. Our refrigerator stopped cooling all together. After trying to do the simply things LG suggests, we had to call for service. Called on Thursday the 12th and they scheduled an appointment for Monday the 16th 1-5pm. I called the service company on Friday to confirm and they said there was nothing scheduled. Called LG and they set us up with another service provider; however, the earliest they could be out was Tuesday the 24th. Spent 55 mins on the phone with LG and they said they cant do anything else and the line to the service scheduling department is down. When they work they are great. When they break while still under warranty its not worth it. Buy a different companys product. Thanks.

I bought the LG model LDF7932ST in 2006. It was supposed to be top of the line. Quiet, efficient, etc. and expensive — $1200. From day one, it was noisy and the smell was so bad when I ran it, I would set it to go on at 2 am when I was sleeping. Not to mention, it took 2 hours. It made all kinds of noises. The smell was vile. Then the bottom rack was always getting stuck on the door seal gasket on bottom right. Then the damn wheels would come off. Couldnt move the basket in or out. I would always have to push the bottom draw towards the left, be very careful with it. It was extremely annoying. Always getting stuck. Now the strip of metal that holds the rubber seal has actually come off of the side of the inside liner. Now I cant even push the draw in or out at all. Spoke to tech. He confirmed over the phone that it could not be fixed and that he had seen it before. So now I have to buy a new dishwasher and it wont be an LG. This is a flaw in their design. Their products stink.

Purchased an LG dishwasher less than 5 months ago. We were doing a kitchen remodel so it has only been used the last month or so. I have never been so dissatisfied by an appliance. The dishwasher is designed poorly (we purchased the unit with the three racks — the top rack being slim and designed for spatulas, knives or small items). There is no correct way to load this machine as all the racks and prongs fall over during the cycle. The dishes are not clean — I hand wash everything before it enters the machine and they are worse when they come out than when they go in. The machine takes over 2 hours to run on a normal wash/dry cycle and the dishes are not dry, they come out saturated. The machine is not dry and requires cleaning after every cycle. The soap spills out of the door and somehow ends up on the outside of the front door. This is the worst dishwasher I have ever used and if I am unable to return it, I will feel criminal giving it away for free. I recommend not trying your luck and going with a different brand. This cost over $800. Awful.

LGs 2 year old dishwasher nearly burned my house down then they quietly closed 6 cases I opened with 6 representatives to discuss the matter along with the damage their dangerous equipment caused. On the 6th attempt, I asked the representative if it was normal for the previous 5 cases to automatically be closed without any communications, she confirmed it was very odd and she never saw that happen before (all calls were recorded). Additionally, both racks rusted through after 2 years of use. LG agreed to send replacement racks since it was under warranty but they were never delivered. The LG dishwasher also created water damage under the counter, which resulted in a 6 crack under the counter. The root cause was the result of extremely poor engineering by LG. 1) Poorly designed seal which didnt use common design engineering knowledge, 2) an extremely poorly designed latch design, which places a hole in the latch an inch away from the poorly designed seal. The major safety hazard here is that the hole in the latch provides a direct path to the electrical switches in the door latch assembly. These issues are further discussed below.I originally provided LG with a video showing how their dishwasher shorted and burned at the LG dishwasher door latch switch. I discovered the melted door latch assembly and exposed shorted wires because the dishwasher smelled like it was burning. They clearly have design and quality issues. The risk is too high to ever consider an LG appliance again. I also have a 6 month old LG refrigerator and the compressor is occasionally making loud noises… more quality issues with another LG appliance. I also had the V20 for two years. It was a horrible phone. LG provided infrequent updates. So glad I returned to Samsung with the Note 9 and now the Note 20 Ultra… anyways…Here is the video showing the charred and melted door latch after it nearly burned my house down. I also included a second video to diagnose the issue, since there was no longer power to the unit. **. I bought their control board (potted PCBA) for about $200 and a door latch assembly with the correct switches. After installing the new board and latch assembly, I learned that the dishwasher seal suffered from excessive compression set due to a poor mechanical design by LG. Compression set is when the rubber remains compressed and doesnt return to its original shape. This typically occurs when rubber is compressed at more than 50%. The problem can be easily avoided by limiting seal compression to a maximum of 50%. This is basic design engineering knowledge but apparently, LG failed with that very trivial design requirement. In addition to a poorly designed seal, it turns out that my house almost burned down because of a really, really bad LG latch design where the latch opening created direct access to the electrical switches. This is a major safety hazard because the seal preventing water from leaking is about an inch away from the switches; this creates a direct path from the seal to the switches. Water was leaking through the top of the seal and directly through the latch assembly and into the switches. The distance from the seal to the switches is about 1-2 inches so if it leaks, it can cause a fire. The same issue was going to happen again if I continued using the dishwasher. At this point, its clear there is a safety hazard. I will likely start connecting with class action law firms to take further action, since LG continues to quietly close all cases I opened to discuss the matter. It is incredibly alarming that LG would learn of this information and choose to quietly silent my cases. It seems like LG doesnt care about the safety of their customers since they have not responded to my very troubling concerns. Im sure this will elicit a canned response from LG and a request to settle it privately. However, it is troubling that they wouldnt want to make this issue well-known and have a safety recall. My house almost burned down and they quietly closed 6 cases I opened. LGs behavior is beyond unethical. Its also beyond negligent. It seems like it approaches criminal. I can only imagine what other safety hazards they are covering up.There are so many horrible reviews and stories from so many people about LG. I had a bad experience with them last year, which led to me buying another refrigerator after less than 2 years of having the new refrigerator… which also has problems. At this point, maybe I should notify the major retailers of the need to have a safety recall. They may not care about their customers, but they will care about the cost and brand issues associated with a major safety recall… especially when they tried covering it up.

LG has the worst Dish Washer and the customer services are horrible. This isnt well built and smells bad after 6 months. Dish wont stand and will keep breaking as it falls apart. The model LDF7774st, I bought this on 07/04/2014, and it start making metal grinding noises. So I called LG before 1 year warranty is over, and they told me it is normal. I tried to call few more times but they kept saying the same thing. They dragged it and dragged and my warranty is over. Now the LG dish washer I bought it for 700, is completely not working and show AE error sign. I called LG and they are trying to get me in to buy 1 year additional warranty for 400 bucks or 60 day warranty for 300 while they are telling me it will cost me 500+ dollars to fix it. I said ** you and hung up on them. I am so angry at them. DONT BUY LG!!! IT WILL BE YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE.

I have the same problem with the moldy smell. I had a service guy in today and I am going to follow his advise and see what happens. The washer is already smelling better! His advise; First, he adjusted the front feet so the machine sloped slightly back so the front gasket drains fully, then he showed me how to drain the washer by using the dials (no one explained this to me!). Turn on machine, dont touch the main dial, go to spin speed button and press it. Display should read 13 minutes, then start washer. This will completely drain any standing water! Good luck **. He also recommended to use half a cup dish washing detergent in the drum, wash on full hot cycle. Do this at your own discretion, I am trying this tonight!

It is finicky, hard to start, hard to remove and clean the filter. Frequently stops in the cycle, and has a top bar made of silver plastic that split at a seam. When I called for the warranty coverage, I was told 4 weeks for a repair man. It is a poor warranty (I live in a major city) and badly designed dishwasher. Stick with a more reliable brand with more accessible repair people. After 2 years, I am replacing it.

I bought this 2 years ago and had problems from the first load. The bottom slide out rack CONSTANTLY goes off track and can take 5-6 times to get it back on. Not an easy task when you are bent over and it is full. Dishes are always spotty, have tried every cycle and lots of different detergents and rinses. Everything is spotty and has a slippery feel to it. I end up using the rinse cycle only after doing a load and then they dont dry. More times than not I just hand wash the dishes. QUICKER, MUCH MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT AND DONE RIGHT. DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP.

My 3-year-old LG Refrigerator has a failed linear compressor. Apparently this is a known defect since 2014 which was before this refrigerator was purchased in 2016. There is currently a class-action lawsuit filed against LG. I have received the run around from LG. I have called every day since 9/28 and have received a different story about how to get it repaired and if the part has been ordered and where it is in the shipping process. I have now been without a working refrigerator for a week with no end in sight. I have 4 children and 3 adults in my household. This is a HUGE problem. Short of buying a new fridge I have no recourse. No one can tell me when it will be repaired or when I will even receive the part. I do have a guy who will replace the part when I finally get it but every time I call LG I get a different story about where the part is and when it will finally be shipped. The process to get this part has changed with every phone call I make, as has the time frame. On Saturday when I called it was 1-3 days. On Monday when I called it was 3-5 days. On Tuesday when I called it was 7-10 days. Today when I called it was again 3-5 days and still has not shipped. Then I had Jenn from LG call and offer a mini-fridge until we get our part on Friday, but we wouldnt get the mini-fridge until Friday which is when she told me the part will be here. She then offered me $250 for spoiled food, which is quite inadequate since we had to go purchase a mini-fridge already and I am spending about $10 per day for ice to keep the rest of our refrigerated products on ice. She told me the part would be here by Friday 10/4 but when I called LG customer service today 10/3, the part has still not shipped and they said it would still be 3-5 days before the part even ships. Jenn also sent me a text and said I could text her at any time to get an update about my part. I have now texted Jenn 4 different times over two days and have yet to receive a response from her. I dont even know what to believe at this point. I think that contacting an attorney to get some recourse will be my next step. I am going to have to go purchase a new refrigerator since LG is incapable of getting my 3-year-old refrigerator fixed in a timely manner. Steer clear of this horrible company with horrible products! This is the second problem we have had with this refrigerator. The LG dishwasher we have that was purchased at the same time is now on its second motor. It is also 3 years old. Terrible, terrible products! Huge run around from customer service.

When I did get it closed I could not open it. It was stuck. Husband finally got it open. Latch is defective. So when repairman comes Wednesday to fix my leaking (new) LG fridge guess he’ll be repairing a dishwasher also.

This dishwasher cleans great. The problem is that every couple of months I get an OE error which indicates that there is a clog or blockage. Our filters are always spotless yet this continues. The way I fix it is to disconnect the drain hose at the sink and use a shop-vac to suck all the water out of the dishwasher. This thing is way too sensitive and after reading all the reviews I realize I made a mistake by buying it.

This dishwasher takes 2 hours to run a cycle! With a 2 hour cycle, you would expect spotless dishes. What a joke. I never have dishes that come clean in this dishwasher. The spaces between the tines are poorly spaced so that I am forced to use every other space or the dishes rest against one another. It holds about 1/2 the dishes that my old Kenmore held and doesnt get the dishes clean at all. This is the worst dishwasher I have ever owned. I have tried everything to get it to clean better. I run dishwasher cleaner through it all the time. I turned my hot water heater up to scalding to try to improve its performance. I have used pre-treater, rinse aid, different detergents, etc. It is just plain awful! I wish I had read these reviews before I bought this piece of junk. Never again! Im going back to Kenmore.

Called LG. Was told I was using wrong detergent and needed to add a booster. That made no difference in the cleaning. After 4 service calls, replacing the sump motor and the main board, it still does not clean the dishes. LG corporate customer service says that it works and that the problem is that I have hard water (never mind that my 13-yr-old Maytag cleaned my dishes). Stated there was nothing else they could do and maybe I should consider getting a water softener. Will never buy another LG product.

We purchased an LG dishwasher from Home Depot as part of a package for a kitchen remodel this summer. The dishwasher has been worthless. The only way to get clean dishes out of it is to wash them thoroughly by hand before loading… Add to that occasional flooding on the kitchen floor and a really unpleasant smell when the door is opened and you can see why I give this product one star. We had this dishwasher for 11 mos before we noticed cracks along the top of the co tell panel. LG claims that this is surely cosmetic akin to a scratch or dent. I disagree, this is a poorly designed unit. Lowes actually did not want to cover this cosmetic defect, the repairman got it covered due to the cracks allowing moisture into the controls. Fast forward 3 mos, the newly replaced control panel now has cracks the same as the previous panel. The plastic used on these panels is apparently defective or the unit produces more heat than the panel can withstand. This is an engineering issue and not enough testing was done to notice the apparent heat issues. I am not the only person who has had this same problem, but yet LG does not want to admit it has issues.

Well LG you have a lot on your plate right now and thousands of consumers without refrigerators due to your faulty compressor problems. Mine has been out since last Wednesday and LG cannot find anyone to service their product even their LG technicians aren’t available. Living out of 3 coolers and had to buy a box freezer. Now on my way to buy a used refrigerator because not knowing how long this issue is going to take! Was reassured that I would be reimbursed for buying the box freezer, food spoilage and old refrigerator. My case was sent to regional manager and being review while being told I’d be called back in 3 to 5 business days with a resolution to replace or give me my money back if I pass the review and if they cannot find anyone to come out and fix it. I don’t want to ever own another LG product let alone have them come out and replace the compressor with the same faulty issues to have it break down again in which it would. I also have a 1,000 dollar LG dishwasher and 6 months ago the top digital touch board went out! 1 year later! They replaced that and praying it doesn’t go out again. So now playing the waiting game. Don’t buy LG. Appliances will never be made the same way that they were years ago in the 70’s and 80’s to last a lifetime. I have reviewed just about every brand out there and all I find is garbage reviews!! What the hell can you buy that’s reliable anymore!

Purchased LG dishwasher about 15 months ago. After installation, we noticed a burning odor when it was on the drying cycle. We assumed it was just the new smell that would soon go away. It never did. After about nine months, we noticed an error code (hE) and that the dishes werent drying well. Called LG and got a local repair company to come out. They replaced the motor assembly, but the code was still there. Had the repair person out again and they replaced the circuit/control board. Nada. Called again, just days before our one-year warranty had expired and they came out to replace the motor once again and this time it worked. No odor.About a month or two into the new motor, we noticed the burning smell again. This morning, the (hE) error code was back. Im not expecting much response from LG after reading the other posts listed here. Fortunately, I purchased a 4-year extended warranty from Home Depot, so guess Ill have to start wrestling with them! I wish I had looked here before I made my purchase. Just to be fair, we bought a new LG washer and dryer at the same time and have been quite pleased with its performance.

Bought this DW because the guy at Home Depot told us it was the top of the line… it was the most expensive. It looked awesome, and seemed to have great features. We spend near $1000 on it. If you like to wash your dishes before you put them in the dishwasher, and again before you put them back in the cupboards… This is a great dishwasher. About 1 in 10 items comes out remotely clean (cutlery 1 in 40). The racks are useless and cause domino effect of falling plates every time you load it. Nothing seems to fit in any of the many racking configurations. If I ever win the lotto, Im taking a sledgehammer to this thing, it is by far the worst appliance I ever bought. I purchased my LG dishwasher on april 11, 2015. I did not purchase an extended warranty as LG was supposed to be a high end appliance company and felt the product would not require service right away. However, I was wrong. One week after my 1 year purchase date, the dishwasher had an oe error code flashing one morning, which I did not know what that meant. So I continue to use it and instead of running at night while sleeping I decided to run before we went to bed. The dishwasher when first starting had a loud grinding noise, which sounded like it was trying to take off and start flying.I went online to find that this is a problem with the dishwasher and the company does not back their warranty. I started a chat at 8:38 to resolve the issue and remained on the chat until 10:52, with no resolution. I then called the company direct. Spoke with a rep and a supervisor, both of which informed me my dishwasher had no warranty. Only after I had to contact Sears, get a duplicate receipt, upload it to them and they reviewed it. Since I got a discount on my dishwasher due to the door having had swirl marks on the front it voided any extended warranty. Therefore, I like many others will have to pay a serviceman to come repair my dishwasher that I purchased just over a year ago. I would tell anyone looking for any type of appliance. Do not buy LG anything!!! Their customer service is awful and their warranty is ridiculous.Update 5/13/16: I received from LG names and numbers of authorized repairman in our area. Called their repairman, was told by them Oh, maam, you are not in my service area. So, therefore, I have no one to service my dishwasher.

Please when purchasing a LG product make sure you look at the warranty. I have owned 2 LG products. First was a dishwasher the second is a refrigerator. Both of these products had issues that should be covered under LG warranty and LG has fought me on both warranty claims. The first was the dishwasher. When I called in for a warranty claim I was told LG could not warranty it as I did not have the original purchase receipt. Even though the Model and Serial Number on my dishwasher noted it was under warranty they would not honor their warranty. At that time I did not realize I could have fought it so I purchased a new dishwasher (that was not LG).Now in 2020 my fridge stopped working. It is the compressor. My fridge is still under warranty and the compressor should be mailed to my home. LG is making me jump through hoops to get the compressor mailed so my fridge can be fixed. LG will not send me the product without talking to my technician. In saying that I have supplied LG with my technician’s contact information and LG has told me that they have reached out to my technician to authorize the part. My technician as received NO authorization request. When I reached out to LG to note my technician had not received and email I was then told it would take 3-5 business days to contact him. I feel that LG has no right to authorize my technician in order to send me the part. Today there are so many clever people that can fix their own appliances. If I was a handy person and was able to fix my own LG fridge, LG would not send the part directly to me as I am not a technician. I think this is very unethical. The fridges compressor does not work it is under warranty, LG should mail the part without question. So at this point I am going on 15 days without refrigerator. LG will not send me the part even though I own the fridge and it is under warranty. They have supposedly contacted my technician but at this point he has not been contacted. I just wanted to let everyone know what I am going through so that when you purchase any major appliance consider purchasing one that has a better track record at honoring their warranty. If you do purchase an LG appliance at least now you are well aware that they will make you jump through hoops and likely not going to honor the warranty on that appliance. It would be better to find a company that is willing to honor their warranty even if it costs more.

We got an LG 7551 dishwasher in 2013. Not long out of warrant it began squealing. Put vinegar in to make a temporary fix. Tines always collapsing causing plates etc to fall over. (LG actually replaced both racks under warranty but no difference.) 3.5 years into ownership started getting E1 error. Uninstalled it, re-leveled it, re-did the drain and looped it correctly all gave temporary fixes lasting weeks to months. Now it is happening more frequently and doubt it is worth a service call to fix a now 5 year old unit. A lot of upkeep and maintenance for the near top of the line LG dishwasher. Very disappointing.

My husband and I built our house and moved in just over a month ago (September 2012). We decided to purchase an LG stainless steel dishwasher, because it was visually appealing and we were told it was quiet and had positive ratings. I must admit that the dishwasher is extremely quiet; however, it has yet to clean our dishes since the first time we have used it. The dishes/glasses on the top rack always come out dirty, and often, I will have to put them back into the dishwasher for a second or third time. There have also been a few times where the dishes were still wet and I had to dry them by hand. The most frustrating part is that the last few times we have used the dishwasher, we have opened the door just to discover the package of detergent stuck to the inside part of the door unopened (we use Cascade and have never had issues before). As a result, the dishes were only washed in water since no detergent was released out of the package which was still intact. Clearly, this dishwasher is too weak, as weve only had it for a month and age cannot be to blame.

Then, as it was explained, if the problem was due to something other than a warrantied part, the labor charge would be between $65.00 and $175.00, plus the part, plus the $125.00 service fee. But, if it was the bad circuit board, the part would be covered, but there was a flat labor charge of $250.00, plus the $125.00 service fee, for a total of $375.00. I could not believe my ears, so I called back a little later, spoke to a different person, and was quoted the same amounts. I am not going to pay $375.00 for a $400.00 dishwasher, and will NEVER buy an LG product again.

Let the new cycle run for 1 min and then turn the dishwasher off and re start a new cycle again. This should clear out wrong or excessive detergent from the dishwasher.
Action to Take:
- Re-start the dishwasher to flush out wrong/too much detergent.
LG Dishwasher HE Error – Heating Error
Description:
LG dishwasher HE error is an indication that the main control board has not detected an increase in water temperature after a few minutes of the dishwasher running. Most commonly LG dishwasher HE error is caused by a faulty heating element. Measure the resistance of the heating element to make sure it has not burnt out. If the heating element checks out ok, measure the resistance of the temperature sensor. Sometimes temperature sensors can get stuck at reading low temperature and the control board does not realize that the water is actually heating. If the heater and temperature sensor are both fine, replace the main control board, on a rare occasion the relay for the heater fails. LG dishwasher HE error is a fairly common problem but is usually solved fairly easy.
Action to Take:
- Check the resistance on the heating element.
- Measure the resistance of the temperature sensor at different temperature to make sure it registers changes in temperature.
- Replace main PCB.
LG Dishwasher LE Error – Motor Error
Description:
LG dishwasher LE error is an indication of a wash motor problem. In most cases the LE error is caused by a foreign object stuck in the wash pump impeller preventing it from turning. Most commonly pieces of broken glass cause the impeller to get stuck. Or sometimes the wash pump it self just seizes up. On some of the older models that have a motor start capacitor, LE error on the older LG dishwasher can be caused by a faulty capacitor that fails to start the wash pump.
Action to Take:
- Measure capacitance of capacitor(if there is a capacitor).
- Check wash pump for foreign objects.
- Replace wash pump.
