My CLIPPER 5.2 applicatrion has 15 DBF files and 32INDEX files. While I run it , there is
run time error DBFNTX 1001/ DOS ERROR 4 .However, if I close some open DBFS, then no error.
Please suggest solution…

Check to make sure that the specifiedfile exists. If the file is not in the directory where the application runs, use SET DEFAULT or SET PATH to make the file accessible or specify the full path name where the file can be found. In a network environment, make sure the application has the necessary rights to access the file. If the file is available only for read access, use the READONLY clause on the USE command.
CA-Clipper’s default error handler(Errorsys.prg) will set NETERR() to true (.T.) and will ask DBFNTX to default if the error was due to a sharing violation on the network.

Помогите!
Есть старая задача написанная на Clipper 5.x работает с *.Dbf
Сам fl.exe -шник на каждой клиентской машине,
база на серваке w:baseapv01.dbf
Если один юзер производит ввод и корректировку информации, а второй выполняет запрос(поиск) по базе то у второго вылетает
DBFNTX/1001 Ошибка открытия w:baseapv01.dbf (код ошибки 2)
Когда в базу ничего не вводят и не правят, то все работает на ура.
На клиентских машинах ВИН98+ Новелл клиент 4.х
В автоекзеке и конфиге все прописано:
set clipper=f249
files=240
buffers=16
Сервак -Новелл 5.1 + СП6(анлимит лицензий)
Некоторое время назад стояла Новелл 3.х и говорят все работало, только в ДОСЕ(потом эту задачу убрали) Но вот она снова понадобилась, но сервак другой и все такое. В ДОСЕ сейчас такая же фигня.
Подскажите может кто знает в чем могут быть грабли???

Если Win98, то может клиент все-таки 3.ХХ??? Или клиент 4.ХХ, а Win тогда NT/2000/XP????

А тома какие??? Не знаю как в клипере, а FoxPro например не работает, если сами базы лежат на NSS томе. Все потуги решить трабл с моей стороны и наших девелоперов успехом не увенчались. Один юзер нормально работает с базой, второй иногда тоже. А вот потом уже ни один больше подключится не может 
Такая же история и с ИНФИНом.
Колеги, если кто порешал данный трабл — поделитесь решением плиз.

NW6SP3, nw6nss3c.exe. тома NSS, задача на фоксе. Все работает.
На сервере
SET LEVEL 2 OPLOCKS ENABLED = ON
SET CLIENT FILE CACHING ENABLED = OFF
Клиенты в основном 4.83 SP2 (WIN2000SP4 Eng, WINXPSP1 Eng)

Да Флинт это… с ним вечно такие траблы — писан криво, то эксклюзивное открытие, то нет… особенно при открытии словарей проблемы…
По сабжу — ДОС-ошибка 2 есть ненахождение файла. Проверь что прописано в кексе и в каталоге задач — нет ли ляпов в путях…

Hi
I have Error DBFNTX/1001 Open error: abc.DBF (DOS Error 4)
In dos i have to use Files=230 in config.sys but vdos does not allow it so how can i do make it working.

vDos always supplies the maximum of 255 global DOS file handles.
Could it be that you’re using a Clipper compiled program?
If so, add SET CLIPPER=F:100 before starting the program to autoexec.txt and see if that helps.Jos

I’m quite sure that it is Clipper compiled program and I’ve added propperly SET CLIPPER=F:100 before starting (autoexec.txt or/and in bat before exe). What is more perverse the same application at the same configuration on the some computers works, but on the other ones doesn’t

If you copy the vDos directory (vDos.exe, autoexec.txt and config.txt) of a working configuration to another PC, that one is guaranteed to work. Given of course the same Clipper startup and data is used.
If the vDos files are the same, it would have to be the Clipper startup, that’s done locally?

After some hours of fight
it’s a bit different matter then I wrote before. There’ re not exactly the same app on every PC, it’s the same producer ones, every compiled in clipper, but different exe file…So, now the problem is that some clipper’s apps doesn’t «see» phrase SET CLIPPER=F180 added to autoexec.txt on every computer.
Could you help ?

Those executables perform the same functionality, so you can exchange a “bad” with a “good” one?
Else I would need a test environment from you in which SET CLIPPER=F80 isn’t accepted, and DOS Error 4 is generated.

hi jos, i’ve been running vdos for more than 2 years now; it has been a blessing for the app i support; as of one year ago, i’ve had installed vdos on several win-10 x64 pc’s, and have been working fine up yo yesterday, in some instances of the app i’m gettin a vdos — exception (image included), please guide my efforts to solve this matter; i’ve been unable to do so

(X) PSP file table (JFT) is messed up
(ok button)
i installed a fresh copy of vdos.exe oct/19/2014 19:40, and the event in error re-ocurred
some help would be very appreciatted

i think that a limitation in the net resource in the form of space or quantity of files, may cause this problem; this came to my attention when i tryed to copy a file component of the application in the same «disk» and it gave an error message stating that «there was no space available» (immage included)

If I understand correctly, you used, and still use version 2014.10.19. Until yesterday no problems, and then out of the blue this exception.
What if you use the latest 2017.08.01 version?

I INCREASED FILE ENV. VARIABLE AS FILE=100 IN CONFIG. SYS BUT STILL SAME PROBLEM,
I AM USING WINDOWS VISTA.
HOWEVER , IF I CLOSE SOME OPEN DBFS, THEN NO ERROR.
FELLOW MEMBERS , PL. SUGGEST SOLUTION.

Please, try make modifications in windowssystem32config.nt file instead consig.sys.

And, in WindowsSystem32Autoexec.nt add
SET CLIPPER=F100
BTW, why don’t you convert to Harbour from Clipper. It is very easy and need very small changes. But, your program needs no setup in config.nt and autoexec.nt 
And then convert to HMG 
(Regarding harbour conversion you may personally mail me)
