Chosen solution

What do you mean by; SPAM the retry button ?
What is the full error message? How far did the download go?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Spam: rapidly click
When did it stop: Before the download

Have you tried safe mode?

Description

I’m using youtube-dl to download videos as 720p mp4a (-f 22). As per issues like #17148 and #20296 this is apparently an issue with Youtube, and as of the last few months(?) I often get downloads failing with the Did not get any data blocks.

So as a solution to this I tried using the format fallback mechanism and specifying -f 22/best (as per the format section docs and this very old bug #650), so it’ll prefer the mp4a then fallback to to the default format. However this doesn’t work — youtube-dl stops after the first error occurs:

$ youtube-dl -f 22/best 'http://youtube.com/watch?v=Msn9L0IXPgw'
[...]
[download] 0.2% of 41.69MiB at 122.11KiB/s ETA 05:48[download] Got server HTTP error: Downloaded 88699 bytes, expected 43715037 bytes. Retrying (attempt 1 of 10)...

ERROR: Did not get any data blocks
$

Although it would be useful in my case, I’m not certain if it would be correct for the «no data blocks» error to try the next format (since I assume Youtube API claims the format does exist), however the output saying «Retrying (attempt 1 of 10)» but it immediately exiting definitely seems like a bug?

@redmaw

This reproduces for me as well on 2/3 youtube links I tried. The two below fail with this error signature; the third failed with a different error.

ERROR: Did not get any data blocks

@Tinase-nau

I found my first YT video (twqp9YjfMIw) ever that I’m experiencing the error with. Maybe YT-DL doesn’t get some sizes correctly together while doing its sped up download thingy? Maybe YT is testing some sort of anti-ripping mechanism? Or maybe THAT specific format is simply corrupted on the server?
I tried to download the video with 2 other slow speed YT downloaders and they got the video without issues.
I did some testing with hints given by op. Namely with the -f and —list-formats.
YT-DL fails to get ‘best’/22/1280×720. But it could download 43/640×360.
My slow downloader downloaded 1920×1080 and AAC audio and merged them.
Taking that as an example I then in YT-DL command line replaced «best» with «bestvideo+bestaudio/best». Noticed that README.md mentions this actually being the default parameter, BUT! ffmpeg has to be present for bestvideo+bestaudio part to trigger. I set all that up. Launched code and it downloaded both besties without issues and muxed them togerher via ffmpeg.

So, what I conclude from my little test:
YT-DL must by default tell user to have ffmpeg setup on system or warn user that otherwise YT-DL will default to parameter for format which YT is trying to abandon.
Or YT-DL should have fails safe mechanism to try for next format that’s 2-in-1.
Or figure out what’s actually causing this…

Either there are no YT auto generated subs for the video. Or you used -write-auto-sub instead of --write-auto-sub

the syntax is correct. but I still don’t get subtitles for the playlist.

Download PC Repair Tool to quickly find & fix Windows errors automatically

In this post, we will show you how to fix Virus scan failed or virus detected, Download Blocked, No file, Forbidden, Disk Full, Network Failed errors on Google Chrome browser.

Errors during browsing are pretty common in all web browsers. However, we need to understand that behind every error there is a technical side or perhaps a glitch that is making it happen. We at TheWindowsClub have been making an effort to troubleshoot the most common errors associated with all the popular browsers. This time around we will explain how to fix the file download errors that crop up in Google Chrome.

The error is pretty irritating especially if you are in a hurry and intend to download an important attachment or any other file. This problem also persists when you try to download new apps, themes, extensions or even files with other extensions. Listed below is a list of errors that usually plague Chrome browsers and also a brief of how you can resolve the same,

chrome download errors

If you receive any of these Chrome browser download errors, then this post will show you how to unblock files and fix these download errors on a Windows PC:

  • Virus scan failed or virus detected error
  • Download Blocked
  • No file Error
  • Forbidden error
  • Disk Full error
  • Network Failed Error

Needless to say, nothing works if you are not connected to the internet, so the first step should always involve checking out your connection. Check that your Internet connection is working, clear your browser cache and try again. Also, try to force resume the file download by clicking on “Resume.” Another way is to try and resume the download after a time gap.

1] Virus scan failed or virus detected error

It’s crystal clear that your virus scanning software might have blocked the download and you can simply open the antivirus tool and check the details on why the file was blocked. Yet another possibility is that the Windows Attachment Manager has already removed the file that you tried to download. Check your Windows Internet security settings for download preferences.

Read: Download Failed – Virus detected message.

2] Download Blocked

This is yet another peculiar issue that is persistent with certain websites and file downloads. On Windows, this issue is usually caused when the Windows Attachment Manager has removed the file you had tried to download or perhaps your file was blocked by Windows Internet security settings.

Read: Disable Chrome virus scan if Downloads stuck on Scanning for viruses message.

3] No file Error

Well, this is a simple one, all it means is that you are trying to download content that is no more hosted on the website. Again, in this case, you can try to contact the website owner or try to find some alternative site.

Read: Download is in progress says Chrome; But nothing is downloading.

6] Network Failed Error

This error usually crops up when you are trying to save anything from Chrome Web Store and this is often caused by unwanted software that is blocking the installation. You can remove the unwanted software and try with the installation once again, alternatively, I would personally suggest you to check if your Firewall is the culprit.

Read: Chrome blocking downloads with Network failed error.

4] Forbidden error

Forbidden Error is a way of the system telling you that you don’t have enough permissions to download the file from the server. This is something that is very common on intranets and if you don’t have the access to the download. In case you have access to the download and are yet not able to access it make sure that your IP is not blocked by the website.

Read: Google Chrome browser downloads getting stuck at 100%.

5] Disk Full error

Again a straightforward error that directly suggests you either delete some items from your computer or simply clear the trash.

Hope this helps.

Download errors are common on Google Chrome, and they come in many forms. In this article, we’ll explore the «Download Failed — Network Error» issue.

This error message usually pops up in the middle of a download. Sometimes, it appears immediately when you click the «download» button. And no matter how many times you try downloading your files, the process keeps failing.

Although the error message suggests that the issue is with «a network,» this is not always the case. So, let’s check out what causes the «Chrome download failed network error» and explore all possible solutions.

1. Check Your Internet Speed and Connection

Wi-Fi router

You need a stable internet connection for downloading files. So, you should first ensure that your internet connection is active and stable.

To get started, test your Wi-Fi speed with a reliable speed test tool. If your internet speed is okay, then you could consider resetting your router and refreshing your connection.

2. Modify Your Antivirus Settings

It’s highly likely that this Chrome download network error is caused by your computer’s antivirus program. That’s because most antivirus programs include traffic monitoring features such as HTTPS scanning. These features help protect your PC against malware hidden behind secured and encrypted websites.

However, such features can sometimes go overboard by blocking all downloads—even if they aren’t harmful. So, disabling HTTPS scanning or temporarily disabling your antivirus program could help. But then, remember to re-enable HTTPS scanning or your antivirus program when you finish downloading.

3. Try Incognito Mode

Browsing in Incognito Mode

Chrome plugins or extensions help improve your browsing experience. However, a corrupt or outdated extension could limit Chrome’s functionality. In some cases, an extension could suddenly become incompatible with the Chrome version you’re using.

To check if an extension is responsible for this error, enable incognito mode. This will disable all third-party extensions and allow you to browse privately. From there, retry your download and check if the «failed — network error when downloading in chrome» issue persists.

If this resolves your issue, then it’s likely that one of your extensions is causing this error. A good way to resolve the issue is to disable all extensions and then re-enable them—one at a time. This will help you identify the problematic extension.

4. Reset Chrome or Try Another Browser

To resolve the Chrome failed network error, you might have to reset Chrome and restore it to its default settings. This will disable all third-party extensions and will delete your cache and cookies. Fortunately, this will not affect your browsing history, saved passwords, and bookmarks.

Now, here’s how you can reset Google Chrome:

  1. Click the menu button (three vertical dots) in the top-right corner of the screen and select Settings.
  2. Select the Advanced dropdown menu in the next window.
  3. Next, select the Reset and clean up option.
  4. Select the Restore settings to their original defaults option.
  5. Finally, click the Reset settings button on the next screen.

Resetting Chrome settings

If this doesn’t resolve your issue, you could try downloading your files using another web browser.

5. Update Your Network Drivers

Are you bumping into the Chrome failed network error when downloading files on a Windows PC? Perhaps the issue lies with the Windows network drivers.

The network drivers control the interface between your Windows PC and a given network. But if you’re running outdated or corrupted network drivers, this could cause various network connection issues.

So, updating your network drivers could tackle the «downloads keep failing network error» on Chrome.

  1. To get started, type Device Manager in the Windows Start Menu and select Device Manager when it appears.
  2. Select the Network adapters option.
  3. Right-click on your PC’s network driver and select Update driver.
    Updating Network Drivers on Windows
  4. In the next window, select Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software. Finally, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

6. Configure the Windows Attachment Manager Settings

The Windows Attachment Manager helps protect your computer from unsafe files that you download or receive via email. If it considers a file unsafe, it blocks you from downloading it.

So, this Windows tool might be the reason you’re encountering the «failed download error» on Chrome. In this case, you’ll need to configure the Windows Attachment Manager settings to resolve the issue.

  1. To get started, press Win + R to open the Run command dialog box.
  2. Type inetcpl.cpl and press Enter.
  3. Navigate to the Security tab on the Internet Properties window.
  4. Click the Custom level button.
    Clicking the Custom level button
  5. In the Security Settings window, scroll down and locate the Downloads option. From there, check the Enable button under the File download option.
Checking the Enable button under the File download option
  6. Scroll further down and locate the Miscellaneous option. Next, check the Prompt (recommended) option under the Launching applications and unsafe files option. Click OK to continue.
    Checking the Prompt (recommended) option
  7. Next, click Apply and then click OK on the Internet Properties window. Finally, restart your PC to apply the changes.

«Download Failed — Network Error» Solved

Chrome is prone to several issues that affect functionalities such as downloading files. As we’ve indicated, this error could also stem from your computer. Hopefully, you should be able to resolve this issue using the tips we’ve provided.

Any solution? a friend of mine are getting the same error.

      • 3

That error should actually be fixed by now.

@Galestrom could you try if it works for you now?

@DaarioNaharis could you provide a screenshot of the error your friend receives? Did they try repairing/reinstalling the launcher?

Good guys, I need help, I am very hooked with the game, I have seen videos and tutorials, and I am in a state of crisis, I want to play, but I have had problems with downloading the game through the «launcher» …. I am talking that initially the download tells me that I am missing 1500mb then jumps to 960mb abruptly when I am already missing only 200mb tells me that I am missing -76348611mb (I do not exaggerate) and this amount is increasing, without any pattern, it is updated again telling me that I am missing 50mb, and the download is simply canceled and I start from 0, I have spent days and days trying to download the game, and I already got to the point of doing this post, this had never happened before with another game, I need really your help or your guidance, I’ve tried everything, I have disabled the firewalls, the antivirus, run the «launcher» administrator mode, I don’t know what to doSorry, I’m Spanish speaking and I have to use the Google translator

I’m having the same issue, it’s possible that there is some sort of issue going on with the servers or something right now. After around 15 minutes it also cancels and says «error on download»

Yes… My GPO is configured for https://WSUS01.domain.com:8351 Opens a new window.

If i use any other URL method the computer wont even communicate with the WSUS server.  After digging some more I found that the file name/location isn’t the issue.  The files actually exist at both locations.  To be honest I have no clue whats causing the downloads to fail now.

Here is a short snippet from the WindowsUpdate.log file on one of the clients.

Look at the client machine’s firewall and be sure 8530 is open also. 8531 is obviously open because they report in successfully with SSL, but the download would come on 8530.

The problem is not where the clients are getting the content from.. the problem is that they’re getting an HTTP 403 error trying to download the content. This generally indicates a defect in the proxy configuration for the client, but it also begs the question of why these clients are talking to a proxy server to get to an internal WSUS server in the first place.

Hi Lawrence. You are correct.  I figured out that WsusContent and the Content issue wasn’t my problem after the fact.

I still dont know why the clients cant download the updates though.  I checked the network configs and there are no proxies.  The clients are talking directly to the WSUS server.

Ok…I figured it out!  Sadly I must have screwed up.  When I configured the WSUS server for SSL i must of enabled the SSL function for the Content virtual folder while configuring all of the other services.  It was pure chance that I was walking threw the SSL configuration steps and accidentally clicked on it and noticed it wasn’t correct.  Once I disabled the SSL requirement for the folder only the clients started downloading their approved updates.

Good, the firewall on the server is OK, but you need to look at the Client also.

If the client blocks inbound on 8530 it won’t download.

We had a similar issue after we had used the wsusutil movecontent to move the wsus repository to a network share. (Our local disk was full).

We were then  seeing errors on client computers:

    2. on the WSUS IIS Server we edited the basic settings on the virtual directory to connect as a specific domain admin account as opposed to Application user (Pass through authentication).

This seems to have resolved our issued and clients are downloading updates and are being installed.

I don’t think you screwed it up, I don’t think you set the «Require SSL» setting on the content folder.  I applied the «Require SSL» setting at the site level only, and it must have propagated down to the child objects under the WSUS site in IIS.  Either way, I never would have solved my problem if I hadn’t seen your post.  Thank you so much for this, I’ve been swinging away at this issue for two solid days and yours was the only mention of a fix for it.

Just so this is searchable for the next hapless soul with the audacity to try to configure WSUS over HTTPS on Windows Server 2012 R2:  The symptoms look like this: WindowsUpdate.log reports problems when trying to download content from WSUS.  (DnldMgr Error 0x80244018 occurred while downloading update; notifying dependent calls.) If I understand this correctly, the session between client and server are negotiated over HTTPS (8531), then when the actual content is downloaded from WSUS, it happens over HTTP (8530).  If this is your situation, clearing the «Require SSL» checkbox from the SSL Settings area of IIS for the Content folder (under the WSUS Administration site) will likely fix your issue.

    Thank you EChapman930!
