Причины, по которым вам не удается произвести обновление ПО, могут быть следующими: 

1.   Неправильная версия программного обеспечения.

В случае чипсета Trendchip, перед вами появится сообщение «Вы использовали не тот файл» («You put a wrong file»).

В случае чипсета Broadcom, перед вами появится сообщение «Не удается загрузить образ. Выбранный файл содержит некорректный образ». («Image Uploading failed. The selected file contains an illegal image.»)

Пожалуйста, проверьте файл, который вы используете для обновления программного обеспечения модема. Если он имеет расширение*.zip, попробуйте разархиваировать zip-файл следущим образом.

Шаг 1

Нажмите правой клавишей мыши на zip-файл и нажмите «Извлечь в» (Extract to)

Шаг 2

Программа архивирования попросит вас указать папку, куда необходимо извлечь файл программного обеспечения. Выберите «Рабочий стол».

В случае чипсета Trendchip правильным расширеним файла программного обеспечения будет являться расширение ras, как указано на данном изображении:

В случае чипсета Broadcom, правильным расширением программного обеспечения будет являться расширение *.up, как на данном изображении:

Здравствуйте!

Помогите перепрошить роутер!
Есть TD-W8151N, версия v3 (смотри первый скриншот). На него провайдером залита кастомная прошивка. Хочу установить дефолтную с оф. сайта.
Беру ее http://www.tp-linkru.com/support/downlo . version=V3, распаковываю, пытаюсь установить и получаю сообщение «ERROR: FAIL TO UPDATE DUE TO . The uploaded file was not accepted by the router. » (смотри третий скриншот).
Подскажите, что я делаю не так?
Может быть есть возможность залить новую прошивку через tftp?

I even tried resetting the router etc but still get the same message on the update page. The url for the update page is at http://192.168.1.1/rpFWUpload.html

The upgrade page is not accessible over wifi. You will get that error if you try accessing it.

The solution to that problem is to access the firmware upgrade page over a wired connection to the router.

Thanks vasanthm, it worked! My next stop is to figure out why my internet connection is so so soooo bad, ever since I moved to TP-Link.

Push reset button for 30 secs.
Without releasing reset button, disconnect power cord.
Hold the reset button for another 30 secs.
Replug the power cord.
Still hold the reset button for another 30 secs.
Release the reset button and give the router about 10 secs to resettle.
Disconnect power cord for another 10 secs and then reconnect.
All should be in default settings now.

This procedure is usually called 30/30/30 reset.

To remove this type of error ( error: update error due to . ), you can hard reset the router. follow below steps

Disconnect the router from UTP cables (not the power cable).
Push reset button for 30 secs.

It was sealed and not opened.

I went to the firmware page, right away showing ERROR: FAIL TO UPDATE DUE TO. ERROR: FAIL TO UPDATE DUE TO.

Can’t even upload any firmware. Tried the latest Chrome and IE same issue.
Help I don’t wanna send it back it is such a hassle and far.

@vasanthm : I was never able to see the firmware page, so upgrading the firmware over wifi is out of question.
@navynmr : I agree. There are ways to tweak factory default settings using certain commands but I’m not sure if TP-Link will share that publicly.
@ Peter and @Kelly and @Everybody Else : Please help!

The upgrade page is not accessible over wifi. You will get that error if you try accessing it.

The solution to that problem is to access the firmware upgrade page over a wired connection to the router.

About 3 years ago i got this kind of Router Modem (TP-LINK TD W8151N) from Telkom. The router has a WIFI ID logo. After take a look at a lot of blogspot , i found this blogspot, http://josh.rootbrain.com/blog/2013/01/16/modem-adsl-wireless-bisa-menjadi-ancaman-keamanan-internetintranet/ , by Mr. Josua M Sinambela (Computer Network & Infosec Consultant, Computer & Digital Forensic Investigator, Professional IT Trainer, System & Network Security and Cybersecurity Lecturer), then i just know(in 2015) that this modem is sharing Wifi SSID that i’m not intent to share, it is the @wifi.id SSID. I find a method to disable this SSID, it is by using the telnet. But when you reset the modem, the settings that was set by telkom will be get back. And the SSID will be reappear again. And you need to re-disable the CWMP to disable the access from Telkom to change your modem settings. Then i try to upgrade the firmware to official TP-Link Firmware. But when i do it from GUI, it said that “UPDATE DUE TO… The uploaded file was not accepted by the router”.

Now, i discover how to update the firmware. But before you doing this, you need to read this:

WARNING!!!

1. Do it on your own risk. I’m not responsible of the damage to the modem.

2. Never cut off the power when you’re upgrading, so it is recommended that you use UPS(Uninterruptable Power Supply). It will brick the modem if it got power loss when upgrading.

3. You are recommended to use Lan cable rather than using wifi connection on this method.

4. Your warranty might void if you do this.

5. After you upgrade the firmware. You might loss the settings of the modem, so you might need to write down the interface menu settings.

Changes:

1. No more Telkom icon.

2. CWMP menu appear.

3. Other SSID can be edited via GUI.

4. No more Telkom settings.

5. You cannot update firmware using wifi connection.

Now, here is a method to upgrade the firmware:

1. First of all you need to do is to download the correct firmware from TP-LINK website. Mine is v3. Make sure you already unzip the file (the firmware name should be ras).

2. Backup or write down your pppoe username and password. RESET the modem by sticking the reset button for about 10 seconds and release it. Wait until it is restarting. (This is to make sure that your modem is using the 192.168.1.1 ip address. You might skip it if you know what you’re doing. I mean the ip address)

3. Connect to the modem using telnet via LAN (you might need to set the ip of your computer LAN to 192.168.1.2, subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 and gateway: 192.168.1.1). In telnet , set the ip to 192.168.1.1(if you already reset the modem).and use admin when you asked about the password.

3. Use this command in telnet to bypass the telkom protected firmware: “sys modelcheck off”, without quotes. Then press enter.

4. Now we will use the GUI to upgrade. Open browser and type 192.168.1.1. Login (default username: admin password: admin) then go to the Management menu then choose Firmware. Click on choose rom file. Select the ras file that we already extract in step 1. Then click update. Wait the process and wait until the modem reboot. Don’t press anything or unplug the power until the reboot done.

5. After reboot done. Try to open 192.168.1.1 with browser again. If it is successfull. It will show the login page. Default username: admin, password: admin (make sure all in lower case).

6. Now you go to Maintenance menu again then firmware then choose reset. Or use telnet then type “sys default” then press enter. This method is to clear the telkom settings.
