So. I was testing some stuff with RPG Maker MV and now every time the player enters a battle, this little error message pops out.

I tired turning off every plugin I installed — nothing,

Tried searching into every event I made to see if I made any typos or mistake — nothing.

Tried creating the file that MV was looking — now it’s looking for another .png crystal image.

Any leads to solve this problem?

you need to find out what part of your project is trying to load that image.

Two tips for that:

1) did you start a new game after turning off plugins? If you load a saved game, you will also load data from when the plugins were active and the program will continue to search for the files

2) use a text editor with a multifile capacity (for example textpad or something like that) and open all json file, then search for that filename through those json files and check where it is listed — that might help you identifying where it is used.

I was testing using the «Test Battle» function in the database, so I guess that once the plugins were disabled the game would stop searching for the files.

Also, if I quit, then restart RPG Maker MV, everything works again like it should, even if the plugins are active.

So I have no problem when play testing the game but when I gave this to a mate, he got this (https://gyazo.com/056a420c3513776aed7e0e13d61b4f6d) (if you can’t see that it’s «Failed to load: img/characters/Team_Sabbath_Map.png).

The only thing I can think of is at one point I renamed the image to «Team_Helix_Map.png» but had to reset all characters to find that image.

The error simply tells you that on some place the game tries to load a picture names «Team_Sabbath_Map.png» and can’t find it. And now you need to find out why he doesn’t find it. But there are only a few possibilities:

1) it doesn’t exist (especially if you renamed the file and forgot to rename the use of it somewhere)

2) you failed on Windows’ conventions — a file name on Windows ignores the upper case/lower case difference, but MV uses networking rules on deployment and then it becomes two different files depending on upper/lower case.

In both cases you’ll have to search for all references of that image and check them until you found the problem.

It might be helpfull to open the json files in a multifile-editor (for example textpad or similiar) and search through them to check where the filename is used.

Press F8 to see the error in the console, it’ll gve us more information as to what it looking for the file that an’t be found.

I already tested it outside the battletest option and it didn’t work.

Anyway, I found out what the problem is. The «YEP BattleSelectCursor» plugin was somehow messing with everything, even if I didn’t add it to the plugin list at all MV was still looking for the two cursors graphic the plugin asks for, and for some reason some other plugin that should’ve worked and did not work correctly.

Anyway, I reorganized my plugin folder and now everything is working correctly.

Пишу тетрис в VS 2017 и нужно вставить изображение, но при компиляции появляется ошибка Failed to load image. Reason: unable to open file и изображения в окне нет. Само изображение в папке с main.cpp, все библиотеки подключены, полный путь указывала, не работает. Что с этим делать?

Точно? Там выше в каталоге есть файл решения, тебе же нужен каталог с проектом(*.vcxproj), ты не напутал?
Нажми ПКМ по проекту(не по решению), выбери открыть папку в проводнике и убедись

First of all, Hello community!, (my English is bad), This is my first post:

I know that there are a lot of this kind of post, specially with the «failed to load image» problem, but in those post the solution was, «_hey man check if the working directory is the right one _ Oohhh now it works thanks! » well, this is not the case (I guess).

My project consist of a bunch of classes that interacts each other making and managing different objects (sprites, text, sounds , etc) with differents manager classes (Object, resource, scene, etc), some call that an engine, doesnt matter. At first I used the codeblocks version (in codeblocks of course) and was great, no bugs, from one moment to another, «Failed to load image!» in one of my classes, in the main function works like a charm, still dont know why. Ok, I moved from codeblocks to Visual Studio.
I’ve download the 64 bit library for Visual Studio 2015, setting up everything like the tutorial page said . Then i got the same error «failed to load image», so I search in the internet, put the file (a jpg and a png) in every posible directory (really), put relative paths, absolute paths, implement «/» «//» «» «\» and all you can imagine. Then I put this code, this HAS to work:
