After installing the permanent license information via the licensing wizard program, the following error message appears when attempting to start ENVI or IDL:

% LICENSE MANAGER: Invalid license file syntax
Feature: idl
Filename: C:Program FilesExelislicenselicense.dat
License path: C:Program FilesExelislicenselicense.dat
FLEXnet error: -2,413 System Error: 2 «No such file or
directory»

These errors might indicate that the license information has been corrupted. Some email programs can corrupt license text, replacing original characters with invalid characters.

Another cause of license corruption is inadvertent line wrapping introduced by the email program. For example, a line in the license might be changed from (2 lines).

Users of Microsoft Outlook who wish to modify how their e-mail program addresses the points mentioned above can benefit from information provided by Help Article 4096 .

If the license file appears to have been corrupted, try to restore the problem characters or line wrapping to its original state. Or, if a separate file attachment of the license information was provided, please use the license information in the file attachment to replace the corrupted license information. You can use the licensing wizard to edit the license file information that has already been installed.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Attempts to launch an IBM Rational product results in «FLEXnet Licensing error: -2: Invalid License Syntax».

Cause

This error can occur if:

License Usage Mapper settings are incorrect
Product installed on a VM image and being accessed a terminal connection
A Non- Admin user with limited access
Incorrect / corrupted importing of license file

Diagnosing The Problem

Check the following one by one to identify the issue:

Launch License Key Administrator (LKAD) and ensure that the licenses has been imported correctly

Check License Usage Mapper (LKAD > Settings) to ensure that the products are mapped to the licenses that are available for use.
Review technote 1142617 for more details.

2.1. Close and re-launch LKAD and check the License Usage Mapper settings are retained

Navigate to /Common and open the rational_perm.dat file in a text editor (rational_temp.dat, if you are using evaluation licenses)
Check if the above file contains the license INCREMENT block/s.

The product is not accessed through a remote terminal connection if a node lock license has been used. Review technote 1376635)for more details.

Resolving The Problem

Apply the correct solution from the diagnostics above:

Solution 1: Remove and re-import the licenses.

Solution 2: Map the licenses to the correct products

Solution 2.1: If the settings are not retained, review technote 1263952 and apply its solution

Solution 3: Append the license INCREMENT block/s by copying them from the actual license .upd file

Solution 4: Do not use the IBM Rational product licensed with node lock key through a remote terminal connection

Решение

При настройке сервера сетевых лицензий Autodesk в виртуальной системе убедитесь, что для MAC-адреса виртуальной системы задано статическое значение, соответствующее MAC-адресу (Hostid, Ethernet) в файле лицензии. When launching an Autodesk program or performing a «Perform Status Enquiry» in LMTOOLS, the system returns the error: -97,121.

FlexNet Licensing error: -97,121

«Network License Not Available — Error [-97.121.0]»

Causes:

Expired license.
License switched from network (multi-user) to stand-alone (single-user).
Incorrect information on the license file (license was hardcoded with the wrong MAC (ethernet address) or hostname).
The default TCP port (2080) adskflex is blocked.

Solution:

Confirm with the software coordinator that the correct license type is being used. If the license recently switched to a stand-alone license, the affected programs require a change of license type for the software to work as intended. Refer to:

If the correct license type is a multi-user/network license, use the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Review the debug log file of the network license server to identify the cause of this error:

Expired license

An «EXPIRED» callout before the product license code indicates that license has expired.

The license file can be uploaded for review on License Parser, where the expiration date(s) of the licenses are listed clearly. If the license has expired, generate a new license file from manage.autodesk.com.

License was generated using the wrong host name

License was generated using the wrong MAC address

This can indicate that the host ID in the license file does not match the MAC (Ethernet) address of the license server.

Note: For Autodesk Network License Server on a virtual system, make sure that MAC address on the virtual system is set to static and matches the MAC (Hostid, ethernet) address in the license file. A new license file will need to be generated if the MAC address on the license file does not match the host machine. To request a new license file refer to the following article links:

Problem

This technote details why the message, []cleartool: Error: Lic err from FLEXlm: Invalid license file syntax[] occurs while trying to execute IBM® Rational® ClearCase® commands that require a license.

Symptom

Attempts to list out the VOBs in a ClearCase region result in the following error:

% cleartool lsvob

cleartool: Error: Lic err from FLEXlm: Invalid license file syntax
cleartool: Error: You do not have a license to run ClearCase.

Note: This error appears with any ClearCase command that requires a license to execute; see technote 1148560 for a list of commands that do not require a license.

Cause

This error occurs because the local host is setup to use a FlexLM license, instead of a ClearCase Atria License.

Resolving The Problem

The configuration must be corrected to only look for a ClearCase Atria License; see technote 1128958 for more details.

You need to update the local host with the correct license information:

Go to /var/adm/rational/clearcase/config
Look for flexlm_host, and rename, remove, or move this file
Verify that a file named license_host exists in this directory and contains the hostname of the license server.
Note: If this file does not exist, then create it and add the hostname of the license server.

When trying to activate your KeyShot floating license, then the service doesn’t start looking at your Luxion log file will show the information below there are some steps we can try.

(lmgrd) license manager: can't initialize:Invalid license file syntax.
(lmgrd) License Path: "This would be the path where the license is located"
(lmgrd) FlexNet Licensing error:-2,40027

How to do a Fresh Install of the KeyShot Floating License.

1.  Open Luxion License Server Software.
2.  Click on License Folder button.
3.  Click Stop Service in your Luxion License Server software.
4.  Once the Service has stopped close your Luxion License Server software.
5.  Go to the License Folder and Delete all files in the folder.
6.  Go to "C:Program Files (x86)Luxion License Server" folder.
7.  Open lmtools.exe
8.  Select Luxion License Server within the list.
9.  Go to Config Service Tab.
10. Make sure that Luxion License Server is in the Service Name window, then click Remove Service button.
11. Go to "C:Program Files (x86)Luxion License Server" Folder.
12. Launch Luxion Licednse Server.
13. Click on Install License tab (Field should be empty).
14. Download your license file from your email and click New License button.

Тема: Проблемы с менеджером лицензий и Расшифровка Кодов ошибок

Уважаемые пользователи!

Если у вас возникли проблемы с менеджером лицензий, пожалуйста используйте следующую последовательность действий.

Внимательно прочитайте сообщение менеджера лицензий. Возможно у вас просто исчерпан лимит подключений или нет связи с сервером лицензий CSoft Development.
Если сообщение отсутствует, но есть код ошибки, поищите его среди приложенных ниже описаний. Возможно это подскажет вам путь решения проблемы.
Внимательно просмотрите лог файл менеджера лицензий, там содержится подробная информация о ходе его работы. По умолчанию лог файл находится в файле C:Program FilesCSoftCS License Serverflex.log или C:Program Files (x86)CSoftCS License Serverflex.log для x64 ОС.
Если выше перечисленные шаги не помогли разобраться вам самостоятельно, отправьте запрос с подробным описание ошибки на адрес soft@csoft.ru не забыв приложить лог файл и файл лицензий.

Errors marked with an ‘*’ indicates errors which should not appear in shipping software. These are errors intended to help the programmer incorporate FLEXlm in their product, and should be fixed before shipping.
Errors marked with ‘+’ indicate errors due to an operating system failure.

Error Description

-1 Cannot find license file
-2 Invalid license file syntax
-3 No server for this feature
-4 Licensed number of users already reached
-5 No such feature exists
-6 No port number in license file and FLEXlm service does not exist [pre-v6only]
-7 No socket connection to license manager server
-8 Invalid (inconsistent) license key.
The license-key and data for the feature do no match.
This usually happens when a license file has been altered
-9 Invalid host.
The hostid of this system does not match the hostid
specified in the license file
-10 Feature has expired
-11 Invalid date format in license file
-12 Invalid returned data from license server
-13 No SERVER lines in license file
-14 Cannot find SERVER hostname in network database.
The lookup for the hostname on the SERVER line in the
license file failed. This often happens when NIS or DNS

This is a warning condition. The server has pooled one or more
INCREMENT lines into a single pool, and the request was made on
an INCREMENT line that has been pooled.
-94 Attempt to generate license with incompatible attributes
-95 Network connect to THIS_HOST failed.
The license file indicates THIS_HOST, and the server is
not running on this host. If it’s running on a different host,
THIS_HOST should be changed to the correct host.
-96 Server node is down or not responding.
See the system administrator about starting the server, or make
sure the you’re referring to the right host (see LM_LICENSE_FILE).
-97 The desired vendor daemon is down.
1) Check the lmgrd log file, or 2) Try lmreread.
-98 This FEATURE line can’t be converted to decimal format
-99 The decimal format license is typed incorrectly
-100 Cannot remove a linger license
-101 All licenses are reserved for others.

The system administrator has reserved all the licenses for others. Reservations are made in the options file. The server must be restarted for options file changes to take effect.

How should I solve it?

when i try to open the license file the file written in symbols I can’t fix the error please help me

My license file is as below and my error is also here. How can i fix it??

On MacOS I just had to run the «Activate.app» inside the Matlab app’s package, re-enter my credetials, and the license file got fixed.

When starting MATLAB, I receive the following error: License Manager Error-2. How can i solve the problem, since i need the software to take a university exam?
