    I ran the commands below and restart but doesn’t work.

    Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | ? {$_.PackageFullName -eq ‘CortanaListenUIApp_10.0.15063.0_neutral__cw5n1h2txyewy’}
    Remove-AppxPackage -Package ‘CortanaListenUIApp_10.0.15063.0_neutral__cw5n1h2txyewy’ -AllUsers
    Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online -PackageName ‘CortanaListenUIApp_10.0.15063.0_neutral__cw5n1h2txyewy’
    Get-AppxPackage CortanaListenUIApp_10.0.15063.0_neutral__cw5n1h2txyewy | Remove-AppxPackage

    Any ideas? My aim is just to do a sysprep and apply on other machine with most updated OS and software.

    Thanks!

The Sysprep tool is used to prepare a reference Windows image and its depersonalization, remove all unique identifiers (SID, GUID) from the system, which is necessary for its correct deployment on the corporate network (see our Sysprep Windows Guide). In some cases, when you run the sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown command while creating a reference Windows 10 image, Sysprep.exe can return the following Sysprep Was Not Able to Validate Your Windows Installation error:

System Preparation Tool 3.14

Sysprep was not able to validate your Windows installation. Review the log file at %windir%system32Syspreppanthersetupact.log for details.  After resolving the issue use Sysprep to validate your installation again.

sysprep was not able to validate your windows installation

To fix the error go to the C:WindowsSystem32SysprepPanther directory and open the sysprep log file (setupact.log) using any text editor (for example, Notepad).

Start viewing the contents of the setupact.log file from the bottom to the top and look for the errors. Depending on the error found, you will need to perform certain actions to fix it. Below we will consider the possible Sysprep errors.

Turn BitLocker Off to Run Sysprep

Error      SYSPRP BitLocker-Sysprep: BitLocker is on for the OS volume. Turn BitLocker off to run Sysprep. (0x80310039)
Error      [0x0f0082] SYSPRP ActionPlatform::LaunchModule: Failure occurred while executing ‘ValidateBitLockerState’ from C:WindowsSystem32BdeSysprep.dll

Open the command prompt as administrator and run the command:

manage-bde -status

It should return the following info:

Disk volumes that can be protected with
BitLocker Drive Encryption:
Volume C: [OSDisk]

Conversion Status:    Encryption in Progress

This error mostly occurs on tablets and laptops with Windows 10 that support InstantGo encryption (based on BitLocker). To fix this error, you must disable encryption for the Windows system volume using the following PowerShell command:

Disable-Bitlocker –MountPoint ‘C:’

sysprep was not able to validate

SYSPREP Failed to Remove Apps for the Current User

Check if there are such errors in the setupact.log:

Error                 SYSPRP Package SomeAppName_1.2.3.500_x64__8we4y23f8b4ws was installed for a user, but not provisioned for all users. This package will not function properly in the sysprep image.
Error                 SYSPRP Failed to remove apps for the current user: 0x80073cf2.

Exit code of RemoveAllApps thread was 0x3cf2

This means that you manually installed modern UWP (APPS) Apps from the Windows Store, or incorrectly uninstalled a certain app.

Try to remove this app package using the PowerShell commands (run the command in the PowerShell console as Administrator):

Get-AppxPackage –Name *SomeAppName* | Remove-AppxPackage

Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online -PackageName SomeAppName_1.2.3.500_x64__8we4y23f8b4ws

If the UWP app is installed for a different user account, you need to remove it from the other users’ profiles. Run the PowerShell command:

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | ? {$_.PackageFullName -eq 'SomeAppName_1.2.3.500_x64__8we4y23f8b4ws'}

Check the PackageUserInformation value. If any of local user have this package Installed, remove that user if not needed. Or remove the APPX for all users:

Remove-AppxPackage -Package 'SomeAppName_1.2.3.500_x64__8we4y23f8b4ws' -AllUsers

Reboot the computer and try to run Sysprep again.

If Sysprep still refuses to proceed, you need to remove this provision package from your Windows image:

Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online -PackageName 'SomeAppName_1.2.3.500_x64__8we4y23f8b4ws'

The next time Sysprep might fail in another UWP package. Delete it as described above. You should remove all non-standard UWP Microsoft Store applications.

In addition, unplug the Internet connection or disable Automatic Updates in Audit mode before you create the image. This prevent Microsoft Store from automatic updating apps. Also delete all local user profiles, only the local administrator profile should remain.

Sysprep Will not Run on an Upgraded OS

If your Windows 10 image is upgraded from a previous version (Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 SP1), you should receive an error in the setupact.log file when trying to run Sysprep:

Error [0x0f0036] SYSPRP spopk.dll:: Sysprep will not run on an upgraded OS. You can only run Sysprep on a custom (clean) install version of Windows.

[0x0f0082] SYSPRP ActionPlatform::LaunchModule: Failure occurred while executing ‘Sysprep_Clean_Validate_Opk’ from C:WindowsSystem32spopk.dll; dwRet = 0x139f

Microsoft doesn’t recommend to run a Sysprep on Windows image that has been upgraded from a previous version of Windows. It is recommended to use an image with clean installation of Windows 10. However, there is a way to bypass this requirement:

  1. Open the Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and go to the following registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMSetup;
  2. Find the registry parameter named Upgrade and delete it;
  3. Then go to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMSetupStatusSysprepStatus and change the parameter of the CleanupState key to 7.
    sysprep was unable to validate your windows installation

This will cause Sysprep to assume that this copy of Windows is installed in a clean install mode. Restart the computer and run Sysprep again.

Sysprep Audit Mode Can’t be Turned on if There is an Active Scenario

Another Sysprep error occurs in new Windows 10 builds (1909, 20H2, 21H1). Sysprep fails with the following error in the setupact.log:

Error                 SYSPRP Sysprep_Clean_Validate_Opk: Audit mode can’t be turned on if there is an active scenario.; hr = 0x800F0975
Error                 SYSPRP ActionPlatform::LaunchModule: Failure occurred while executing ‘Sysprep_Clean_Validate_Opk’ from C:WindowsSystem32spopk.dll; dwRet = 0x975
Error                 SYSPRP SysprepSession::Validate: Error in validating actions from C:WindowsSystem32SysprepActionFilesCleanup.xml; dwRet = 0x975
Error                 SYSPRP RunPlatformActions:Failed while validating Sysprep session actions; Error      [0x0f0070] SYSPRP RunDlls:An error occurred while running registry sysprep DLLs, halting sysprep execution. dwRet = 0x975

To resolve this Sysprep error, you need to pause Windows update via modern Settings control panel (Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Pause updates for 7 days).

sysprep was not able to validate your windows installation windows 10

Reboot your device and try to run Sysprep.

You will Learn How to fix error

  • MDT Sysprep and capture failed on Windows 10 1903
  • MDT failed to capture the image
  • BitLocker does not turn ON windows 10 1903 version
  • Turn BitLocker off to run Sysprep. (0x80310039)

On January 14, 2020 the Windows 7 operating system is set to retire and will no longer be supported by Microsoft which means they will be no longer provide security updates. With deadline date approaching all IT Support persons are busy in doing upgrade of systems from Windows 7 to Windows10. Easy way to deploy Windows10 is from MDT, first need to build a Standard image with all configuration and patch updates.During initial stages can MDT Sysprep and capture failed?

With Latest build of Windows 10 build 1903 covers all patches and require less time to build the computer. So we started to Install a fresh Windows 10 build 1903 on Dell Latitude 5490 and updated with the latest windows patches, as this version has lesser patches to update and require few minutes.

Next Step to capture the image from MDT(Microsoft Deployment Toolkit), MDT Sysprep and capture failed to capture the image and an error occurred as shown below

Info  SYSPRP ActionPlatform::LaunchModule: Executing method ‘ValidateBitLockerState’ from C:WindowsSystem32BdeSysprep.dll

Error  SYSPRP BitLockerSysprep: BitLocker is on for the OS volume. Turn BitLocker off to run Sysprep. (0x80310039)

Info [0x0f0052] SYSPRP Shutting down SysPrep log

Forums and blogs provided different solution but those suggested solutions does not work on Windows 10 build 1903. I continue further investigating on the problem found that Bitlocker was creating the problem. If you look at BitLocker settings in control panel it always show up that BitLocker is OFF and does not encrypt the disk.

MDT Sysprep and capture failed _BitLocker OFF

Fix MDT Sysprep and capture failed on Windows 10 1903, with BitLocker to turn ON, follow below steps

  • Open the cmd or command prompt with Administrative access
  • Type command            manage-bde -off C:
  • Check the status       manage-bde -status

you should screen as shown below

Turn BitLocker off to run Sysprep. (0x80310039)

Important note:  Windows 10 has built-in apps which have to be removed while building image for a corporate laptops or desktops. Apps like one-note,Skype, Xbox …

Here the list of apps need to remove, If you Copy & Paste on an elevated PS (Powershell)will work.

The first line of that error log is the key. Microsoft has a support article describing this problem. First, you need to uninstall the Universal Windows Platform app mentioned in the error. To do that, search for it in the Start menu (it’s probably called something along the lines of «Autodesk SketchBook»), and if it’s found, right-click it and choose Uninstall. Reboot, and try to run Sysprep again.

If that doesn’t help, run this command in an elevated PowerShell prompt:

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | ? {$_.PackageFullName -eq '89006A2E.AutodeskSketchBook_1.5.2.0_x64__tf1gferkr813w'}

Look at the PackageUserInformation property. If any users have the package Installed, destroy the user account if it is not needed, otherwise log in as the user and uninstall it. If you can’t do that, use this command to remove the package for all users:

Remove-AppxPackage -Package '89006A2E.AutodeskSketchBook_1.5.2.0_x64__tf1gferkr813w' -AllUsers

Reboot and try again.

If Sysprep still refuses to continue, you need to unprovision the package (that Microsoft article says that Sysprep «will also fail if an all-user package that’s provisioned into the image was updated by one of the users on this reference computer»):

Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online -PackageName '89006A2E.AutodeskSketchBook_1.5.2.0_x64__tf1gferkr813w'

You might also check the log file again if the failure remains — Sysprep might start complaining about a different package that also needs to be removed.

On a Windows 8.1 based machine the following error appears when running sysprep: «sysprep was not able to validate your Windows installation«. The above error happens because sysprep cannot run on an upgraded Windows installation.

For example, if you have already downloaded apps on a Windows 8.1 or 10 machine where you want to run the sysprep command, the sysprepact log file (setupact.log) which is created under C:WindowsSystem32sysprepPanther folder displays the following error(s):

«[0x0f0036] SYSPRP spopk.dll:: Sysprep will not run on an upgraded OS. You can only run Sysprep on a custom (clean) install version of Windows.
[0x0f0082] SYSPRP ActionPlatform::LaunchModule: Failure occurred while executing ‘Sysprep_Clean_Validate_Opk’ from C:WindowsSystem32spopk.dll; dwRet = 0x139f

Sysprep was not able to validate your Windows installation

To fix the «Sysprep was not able to validate your Windows installation» error while trying to run sysprep on a upgraded Windows 8, 8.1 or Windows 10 machine, follow the steps below:

How to resolve «Sysprep was not able to validate your Windows installation» error (Windows 10, 8.1, 8)

Step 1: Remove the «UPGRADE» key from Windows Registry.

1. Open Windows Registry Editor. To do that:

  1. Press “WindowsImage-201_thumb_thumb_thumb_thumb1_t  + “R” keys to load the Run dialog box.

5. Close Registry Editor and restart your computer.

6. Now run SYSPREP again. Sysprep should run successfully now and without problems.

  • Note: Always run «SYSPREP» command as Administrator and uninstall any security software before running the command.

Windows 8.1

Sysprep в windows 8.1

Windows 8.1

sysprep windows 8.1

  • SYSPRP Failed to remove apps for the current user: 0x80073cf2 >
  • SYSPRP ActionPlatform::ExecuteAction: Error in executing action; dwRet = 0x3cf2
  • SYSPRP SysprepSession::Execute: Error in executing actions from C:WindowsSystem32SysprepActionFiles
  • SYSPRP WinMain:Hit failure while processing sysprep cleanup external providers; hr = 0x8007001f
  • SYSPRP RunExternalDlls:Not running DLLs; either the machine is in an invalid state or we couldn’t update the recorded state, dwRet = 0x1f

Windows 8.1

windows sysprep

Import-Module Appx

Import-Module dism

Windows 8.1

Get-AppxPackage -AllUser | Where PublisherId -eq 8wekyb3d8bbwe |  Format-List -Property PackageFullName,PackageUserInformation

sysprep windows 8.1

Get-AppxPackage -allusers PackageFullName | Remove-AppxPackage

Remove-AppxPackage -Package <packagefullname>

или

Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online -PackageName <packagefullname>

Windows 8.1

sysprep--10

[0x0f0082] SYSPRP LaunchDll:Failure occurred while executing ‘C:WindowsSystem32slc.dll,SLReArmWindows’, returned error code -1073425657
[0x0f0070] SYSPRP RunExternalDlls:An error occurred while running registry sysprep DLLs, halting sysprep execution. dwRet = -1073425657
[0x0f00a8] SYSPRP WinMain:Hit failure while processing sysprep generalize internal providers; hr = 0xc004d307

sysprep-11

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend">
<settings pass="generalize">
<component name="Microsoft-Windows-Security-Licensing-SLC" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
<SkipRearm>1</SkipRearm>
</component>
</settings>
</unattend>
