I got an icon from the internet that I want to use when I make my program an .exe. When I try to put it on under my form1 I get an error that says invalid picture. I realy want to use this icon for my program so I hope there is a way. I tried using the following code in the form load as well.

On a side note, I used the package and deployment wizard to make a setup for this program, is there a way to get the program to offer to place a short cut on the desk top?

I’m sure your icon is probably a 32bit ARGB icon which is not compatible with VB6. You need to convert it to 24bpp. Lots of icon programs to do that. One of the best is IcoFX and it’s free: http://icofx.ro/

Tom is spot on, if you want more information about it, see the articles What picture types does VB support? (or: why wont VB load this picture/icon?) from our Classic VB FAQs (in the FAQ forum, which is shown near the top of our home page)

To add extra functionality to P&DW, you need to modify the code for it — the VB project for it should be on your hard drive under the VB folder (if not, it is on the VB CD).

There are examples of doing creating shortcuts and determining the desktop path in our Codebank — VB6 forum. Using «Seach this forum» at the top of that page (or the advanced search and select the forum) will find them, and most other example code you want.

I’m attempting to use linux, and I’ve experimented with installing lubuntu.
I have supported windows — multiple flavours — and have a reasonable level of experience with operating systems.
But truthfully, I’m a new linux user.

A google search found some similar issues to mine, but none have given an answer that solved this error.
My error happens when I attempt to start the ‘Samba’ icon from the «System tools» listing in my lubuntu basic desktop LXpanel.

Basic Info:
hardware — all basic stuff, about 8 years old — Intel 64-bit quad-core with 4-gig Ram, 500-gig HDD
OS — lubuntu from Feb 2017 v16.10 Desktop 64-bit
package — samba via Synaptic Package Manager with all required dependencies from ‘Main’ in Canada / USA = all as per default
issue — when select icon via — LXpanel 0.8.2 to «System tools» to icon «Samba» get error result as below

ERROR:
invalid desktop entry file: ‘/usr/share/applications/system-config-samba.desktop’

what I’ve done to try to fix:
via Synaptic Package Manager — checked Status = no Broken packages listed
via SPM — looked thru list of Installed. found and reinstalled = Samba and Samba-related packages
via Command Prompt — ‘sudo apt-get update’ && ‘sudo apt-get -f install’

All no effect, no change.

I can find no info about what the actual error is. Nor can I find the file as listed in the error, even remembering to make all system / hidden files visible.

How do I use export manager/build my apk correcltly? [Build Failing — Invalid Icon File:(]

Hi, I just bought the C3 license this morning (and I was sooo happy), because phonegap and cocoon were both giving me problems… I thought if I paid for a service, surely it will work!… Now, C3 is giving me yet another problem…..

I already read this tutorial (https://www.construct.net/en/tutorials/using-c3-to-build-c2-mobile-exports-22), but it doesn’t explain what to do if this message pops up.

There were no problems importing my export into the Export Manager (the icon-256.png was in the zip), but when I press the «Build Application» button, it says this…

«Error — Invalid Icon file «www/icon-256.png» ENOENT: No such file or directory, open ‘/home/buildbot/construct-build-service-2/application-cache/9149dc7d-36c4-4fb4-a918-d977e4d2fae7/www/icon-256.png»

What does it mean? I checked, and the icon-256.png WAS there, with all the other files (all files are at the root level of the zip).

Please, how do I fix this problem?! I just want to build my app — I’ve been running into build problems for months now. Can someone please tell me, why is C3 spitting out this error?

Not a good start to C3 experience.
