I’ve been trying to print my Powerpoint presentation to Adobe.

I have Windows and Adobe Acrobat 9 pro.

When I print, instead of creating an Adobe document, I receive this error message from Distiller in Notepad.

Calibri not found, using Courier.

%%[ Error: invalidfont; OffendingCommand: xshow ]%%

I’ve done the following to resolve the problem:

1. gone through every slide (including the Notes view) and have converted all text to Arial, yet I still get this error.
2. Reset printer settings:

• 1. Select Printers and Faxes under the Start button
• 2. Right Click on your printer icon and select Printing Preferences
• 3. Select the Advanced tab
• 4. Follow yellow highlighted settings below and select Apply.

3. Reset Distiller Settings:

-> Please Start Acrobat Distiller and select «Font locations» within its «Settings» menu.

-> Remove all the font folders listed there,

-> Don’t remove «/Resource/Font» within the Acrobat application folder.

-> Acrobat Distiller will then search your hard disk for all font locations.

-> Close the dialog and restart Acrobat Distiller.

None of these approaches has worked. What should I do?

При этом выводится имя одного из основных 13 шрифтов Туре 1 (Courier, Times, Helvetica, Symbol или Zapf Dingbats), необходимых для работы Acrobat Distiller.

Проделайте одно или несколько из следующих действий:

А. Проверьте, появляется ли папка с 13 основными шрифтами Туре 1 в диалоговом окне Font Locations программы Distiller:

1. Выберите команду Distiller > Font Locations.

2. Если папка в списке Font Directories List отсутствует, нажмите кнопку Add Folder (Macintosh) или Add Directory (Windows).

3. Выберите папку или каталог с 13 основными шрифтами и нажмите кнопку ОК.

Б. Windows: Проверьте размер файла Acrodist.ini. Он должен быть меньше 64К. Если больше, сократите его путем редактирования:

1. Создайте копию файла Acrodist.ini в каталоге Windows.

2. Откройте оригинальный файл Acrodist.ini в текстовом редакторе, сохраняющем текст в формате Text Only (например в WordPad).

Если Distiller при обработке PostScript-файла с текстом не обнаруживает хотя бы одного из них, то возвращает сообщение об ошибке PostScript «invalidfont: OffendingCommand: findfont». Это происходит, когда шрифт поврежден, отсутствует (т. е. не установлен или находится в сетевом каталоге, к которой Distiller не имеет доступа) или помещен в папку, которой нет в списке диалогового окна Font Locations.

As you could already have guessed, ‘Findfont’ errors are font-related.

Possible solution

Reinstall all fonts used in your document from the original disks, both on your Mac or PC and your RIP.

Invalidfont errors with Acrobat Distiller and Microsoft applications

When you try to use Adobe Acrobat Distiller to distill a PostScript file that was created by Microsoft Office Publisher 2007 and by Microsoft Office Publisher 2003, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following:

To work around this problem, use one or both of the following methods.

Method 1: Configure the Printer Driver Not to Substitute Fonts

To resolve this problem for the current publication, follow these steps:

• On the File menu, click Page Setup.
• Click the Printer and Paper tab.
• Click the name of the printer that you will be using, and then click Properties.
• Click Advanced.
• In the Graphic section, change the TrueType Font option to Download as Softfont.
• Click OK, and then click OK.

To prevent this problem from occurring for all current publications, follow these steps:

• Click Start, and then click Printers and Faxes.
• Right-click the printer that you want to configure, and then click Properties.
• Click Printing Preferences.
• Click Advanced.
• In the Graphic section, change the TrueType Font option to Download as Softfont.
• Click OK, and then click OK.

Method 2: Configure Acrobat Distiller to Ignore the Error Message

You can configure Acrobat Distiller so that you still receive an error message, but the error message does not prevent a PDF file from being created. These steps apply to Acrobat Distiller 6.0.If you are using a different version of Acrobat, the procedure will be slightly different. See your documentation to determine the version that you have. To configure Acrobat Distiller 6.0 to ignore the error message, follow these steps:

Invalidaccess errors with Linotype RIPs

Invalidaccess Postscript errors, offending command ‘findfont’ are a known problem with Linotype PostScript level 2 RIPs when printing from FreeHand 7. Reinstall all fonts on the harddisk of the RIP to solve the problem.

Syntaxerror when downloading fonts using AgfaSet

Early versions of AgfaSet 4.2 caused a Postscript error syntaxerror, offending command findfont on a RIP if it was used to download .pfb fonts to the RIP. The problem with corrupting fonts on the RIP was solved in later versions of AgfaSet 4.2.

Findfont errors in files created using the TinyDict files

The digital gremlins got at one of the TinyDict html files. Users getting a ‘findfont’ error should make sure that section 43 starts with:

Acrobat Distiller “invalidfont” offending command “findfont” error

Acrobat Distiller 3.0x or earlier can generate a PostScript error, “invalidfont”, offending command: “findfont”. The error message usually points to a problem with one of the base 14 fonts used by Distiller. For a detailed overview of this error, you should consult the Adobe database.

There are several solutions for this kind of problem:

• Make sure the folder or directory containing the required basic Distiller fonts appears in Distiller’s Font Locations dialog box.
• For the Windows version of Acrobat Distiller 2.1, the size of the Acrodist.ini file has to be smaller than 64K. Delete unused font entries in this file if necessary.
• Reinstall Distiller 3.x for Macintosh. This will also reinstall all its fonts. You should also reinstall the fonts in the system folder.

Acrobat Distiller ‘limitcheck’ offending command ‘findfont’ error

The Unix version of Acrobat Distiller 3.0x can generate the above error. Check the Adobe website for a work-around which involves editing a configuration file using Vi or so. A too obscure error for my taste.

PostScript fonts are small PostScript programs and a rich source of errors. Unfortunately, all problems in the fonts are lumped together by the interpreter as an /invalidfont error. Usually, one has to decrypt the font to determine the exact cause of the error.

/invalidfont in Courier can indicate that the interpreter cannot find any fonts at all. Check tht directory structure and configuration files on the RIP.

Описание

При дистилляции.PS-файла, созданного в FrameMaker 5.x, в окне Message программы Adobe Acrobat Distiller 2.1 выводится сообщение об ошибке «%%[Error: limitcheck; OffendingCommand: pdfmark]%%«.

Решение

Перед генерированием PostScript-файла в FrameMaker 5.x отключите в диалоговом окне Print параметр Generate Acrobat Data. А затем создайте PDF-ссылки в Acrobat Exchange вручную.

Или:
Разбейте документ FrameMaker на несколько разделов и дистиллируйте каждый из них отдельно.

Дополнительная информация

Максимальное число допустимых в Acrobat Exchange или Reader именованных пунктов назначения, или гипертекстовых ссылок, составляет 4000. Если.PS-файл в FrameMaker создавать при включенном параметре Generate Acrobat Data в диалоговом окне Print, FrameMaker включает в выходной файл сотни или тысячи гипертекстовых ссылок. Многие из них не используются ни программой Exchange, ни Reader, и их число может превысить лимит в 4000.

Обрабатывая. PS-файл, Distiller 2.1 фиксирует число обнаруженных ссылок и, когда оно достигает 4000, прекращает обработку и выдает сообщение об ошибке «%% [Error: limitcheck; OffendingCommand: pdfmark]%%«. Distiller 2.0 не ведет подсчета ссылок и.PS-файл обрабатывается даже если их там больше 4000. Правда, созданные с помощью Distiller 2.0 PDF-документы в программах Exchange и Reader все равно подчиняются правилу ограничения в 4000 ссылок и могут отображаться некорректно Windows.
