When I try to play FF7, I get an error message that says «No WGL Extensions!» and my ePSXe emulator closes. What do I need to do?

Use another GFX plugin. I bet your using an OpenGL based plugins, and it has some compatibility issues.

I was using OpenGL based plugins, so I just deleted them. What plugin do you suggest I use?

Pete D3D 1.75. You’ll need to fiddle with the settings, but once your done everything runs smooth.

Be sure to check the FF7 special game fix.
Have you seen me before?

On the configuration screen at the bottom and right above the Fast and Nice buttons you will see Special Game Fixes and button to the right of it with … inside of the button.
Click the button and a new configuration window will open. Check the very top setting for FF7, and IF you are NOT using ePSXe 1.6.0 check the 4th one from the bottom that says Odd/Even bit hack.

Actually for the WGL extentions….your graphics card isn’t capable of running shader extensions. This only occurs with Pete’s OpenGL 2 Plugins….it requires at least a ATI 9500/nVidia FX or above…moreever it is a stablised plugin and has ZERO compatibility issues.
This has to do with its settings set in the CONFIG —> VIDEO.

Actually for me I have had better luck on some games and game menues with OpenGL, but since you don’t have it I would definetly use D3D as it’s still very good. I would only use a software plugin as a last resort since you wont’ get any graphical boost.

Why don’t you post your com specs and plugin config? I will optimise them for you. Create a new thread for this.

Whenever I try to load an IMG or ISO file into ePSXe, I get an error saying «No WGL extensions!» Then it crashes. Is there any way I can fix this? I am using Pete’s OpenGL2 plugin, and am running windows vista home premium.

That issue indicate that your graphic card is very old or doesn’t have TnL support. Please use other plugins like :
P.E.Op.S GPU or Pete’s OpenGL Plugins.

Sounds like an OpenGL issue to me. Have you tried switching to Direct3D as well?

Well, I downloaded and installed the first plugin you mentioned, and I’ve got good news, and bad news. The good news is that I don’t get the popup saying «No WGL extensions!» anymore, and the program doesn’t crash. The bad news is, instead of that, the whole screen just goes black. What should I do now?
Also, where can I find that direct3D plugin? Maybe that might help.

Tweak a little on Pete’s OpenGL configuration. Click on either ‘Nice’ or ‘Fast’ setting to look on results.

You can find the whole plugins pack at Aldostools.

No wgl extensions

After searching the forums and not finding on the issue I am posting this problem:
I downloaded GCEmu along with the GCEmu Manager. I configured the manager and renamed my .iso backup file to a .gcm. I double-click the .gcm and the emu starts up along with the command prompt window. The emu stops immediately and I get the error message—- gxPeteOGL: No WGL Extensions!
I click ok and it all turns off. Does anyone have a solution to this problem. Help would be appreciated and sorry if the answer is obvious
Thank you.

Either your video card doesn’t support pixel shaders under OpenGL or your video card drivers are broken.

Ok, the game I am trying to play is Metroid Prime.
Also, I updated some stuff on my computer and something new comes up…the following is the NEW error message:
gxPeteOGL: Missing shader extension!
^^^What does this mean? What are the chances my video card drivers are broken?/How do I find out if they are?/How can I replace them?
Answers to these questions would be very much appreciated, thank you.

What video card you have? I dont think it supports pixel shaders

Ok I believe I have a NVIDIA GeForce3…I am guessing the card is sort of old. Is it good enough or do I need a better one? And if it IS good enough, does that mean that it is broken?
-
#7
Yeah that only supports Pixel Shader 1.1 I believe, and doesn’t support Fragment Shaders in OpenGL, so you’re out of luck I’m afraid.
