Error platform version firefox

When I started Firefox this morning, I got the error message in the subject line this morning. The only button is «OK», which banishes the error message. The browser doesn’t show up.

This evening, I checked for Windows updates, and the only ones pending were security definition updates and Silverlight (which I don’t knowingly use).

A google search of the following doesn’t yield anything helpful:

XULRunner error «Platform version ‘64.0’ is not compatible with» «minVersion >= 63.0.3» «maxVersion <= 63.0.3»

If anyone can suggest anything, thanks….I am running Windows 7

Ошибка возникает когда я пытаюсь запустить вторую копию FireFox Portable.

В корне папки с FireFox Portable лежит файлик FirefoxPortable.ini. В нем есть параметр AllowMultipleInstances. Из readme.txt:

The AllowMultipleInstances entry will allow Firefox Portable to run alongside your regular local copy of Firefox if you set it to true (lowercase). The default is false.

Установите этот параметр в true — думаю, должно помочь. По крайней мере, у меня описанных проблем при схожем юзкейсе не возникало (локальный FF — 4.0, portable — 3.6.15).

По-моему «из коробки» этого файла «в корне папки» нет, его нужно сначала достать из %FirefoxPortable%OtherSource

Читаем внимательно, я вроде старался как можно понятнее написать:

Ошибка возникает когда я пытаюсь запустить вторую копию FireFox Portable.

Тот параметр у меня уже true, он позволяет запускать ХОТЯ бы 1 копию портабл при уже запущенной локальной копии. Я думаю у вас с разными версиями должна была быть такая же проблема, просто вам в голову не приходило запускать 2 комплекта portable, а мне это необходимо как воздух.
З.Ы. На счет тултипов я нашел только 2: aHTMLTooltip, bhTooltip. Но кнопки типа Home имеют другие всплывающие подсказки видимо, кто-нибудь подскажет как их изменить?

If you are a Mozilla Firefox user then you might see an error named Xulrunner Error when trying to open Firefox browser. This error will appear out of nowhere and it will prevent you from using the Firefox browser. This error can also appear when turning on the Mozilla ThunderBird as well. Here is what causes this error

• Incomplete Update: The main reason for this error is an incomplete installation/update of the Firefox browser. Firefox is usually set to automatically install updates and this process can be interrupted because of bad internet or a sudden system shutdown or an antivirus. Whenever this happens, your Firefox update doesn’t install completely and leaves you with an installation with a mixture of old and new updated files in the Firefox program folder.

Note

The solution given below is for the Mozilla Firefox. However, as mentioned in the beginning of the article, this problem can occur for the Mozilla Thunderbird users as well. The reason for seeing this error when trying to open Thunderbird is the same as Mozilla Firefox. So, the solution given below will work for Mozilla Thunderbird as well. You just have to reinstall the Mozilla Thunderbird instead of Mozilla Firefox but the other steps should be same.

Method: Clean Install Firefox

Since the problem is caused by an incomplete update installation, the usual solution is to perform a clean install of the program. This means that you have to uninstall the program and get rid of all of its files so there’s nothing left on the system that might interfere with the new installation. You can then install a fresh copy of the program and that generally solves the problem. So, follow the steps given below to perform a clean install of Firefox.

1. Hold Windows key and press R
2. Type appwiz.cpl and press Enter

1. Locate Firefox and select it
2. Click Uninstall and follow the on-screen instructions. Note: Do not remove your personal files when the uninstaller ask you to choose whether to get rid of personal files or not. Your personal files include your Firefox profile, bookmarks, and several other files so make sure you don’t do that.

Select Mozilla Firefox And Click Uninstall

1. Once the program is uninstalled. Hold Windows key and press E
2. Type C:Program Files in the address bar and press Enter
3. Delete your Mozilla Firefox folder

Navigate To Program Files and Program Files (x86) and Delete Mozilla Firefox Folder

1. Type C:Program Files (x86) in the address bar and press Enter
2. Delete your Mozilla Firefox folder
3. Now reboot
4. Once the system is rebooted, click here and download a fresh copy of Firefox.

Install the latest version of Firefox by running the downloaded file and everything should be fine.

Firefox xulrunner error platform version

I have two profiles, for separating work and personal tabs/bookmarks/etc. I wanted to update Firefox from 95.0 to 95.0.1 but in both profiles I saw «Firefox is being updated by another instance» in the About Firefox dialog when both were running. So I closed one of them and the other offered me the usual button to update immediately. I did it, restarted that Firefox instance/profile, which restarted normally, but now the second one does not open. Instead, I get the error transcribed above in the subject (see attached screenshot).

So my question is: please, how do I regain access to my second profile without losing that profile’s data?

But the installation was successful. Unfortunately only for one of the profiles, and the other one didn’t quite «get» that it would now work with a 95.0.1 application rather than the old 95.0 one.

Since it’s only one of the profiles that isn’t working under the updated Firefox, and since the issue is clearly the version stated somewhere inside that profile, how can I edit those minVersion and maxVersion variables so that it (the troublesome profile) accepts to be opened by the new version? Is it is a JSON file, an INI file, or some other kind of file, and which one, and is it pure text or hexadecimal or what?

I am writing this in my primary profile, the one I used to update Firefox 95.0.1 and that is working fine. So, again, the issue is not the Firefox installation itself, but simply the secondary profile.

Then again, how should I proceed to update Firefox when a new version arises? Because this is not acceptable and multiple profiles is a (great) feature.

Firefox updated. After updating, whenever I try and load Firefox, I receive the following error message:

«Error: Platform version ‘91.0.2’ is not compatible with «minVersion > = 91.0 «maxVersion = 91.0 «maxVersion

The profile folder that stores your personal data is stored elsewhere, so you won’t lose bookmarks and extensions.

If you see the message, «XULRunner — Error: Platform version is not compatible with minVersion «» (» » depends on version number), after a software update, use another browser to download the Firefox installer from the Firefox download page, save it to the desktop or other location, delete the Firefox installation directory and then reinstall Firefox reinstall Firefox reinstall Firefox . If Firefox still does not start, see the Firefox will not start due to security software section below.

There was an error launching the application

This error indicates that either Firefox is not installed or your shortcut to it is incorrect. Make sure that Firefox is installed at the location specified by the shortcut. If it isn’t, install Firefox if necessary, then modify the shortcut to point to the correct location.

Error opening file for writing…

If you receive the above error when launching Firefox on a Windows system, you may be required by Firefox to log in as an administrator. You can either reboot the computer or, if you have an administrator account, you can execute the program as an administrator.

1. Find the firefox.exe program file in the Firefox application folder on your system.
2. Right-click the icon.
3. Select Run As Administrator… . Select The following user:. From the Username drop-down, select Administrator or another user that has administrator privileges. Enter the password required to log in to this account. Click OK .
4. The Firefox application is started using the administrator Windows account. The user that was used to log in to Windows at startup is still the active one.

Other error messages

If you get another error message (e.g. «XML Parsing Error: undefined entity Location», «Secure Connection Failed … uses an invalid security certificate»), see Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems.

No error message

If you click the Firefox icon but no Firefox window opens and no error message is shown, a simple first step is to restart your computer and then try again. If Firefox still does not start, see the following sections.

• Outdated versions of Comodo Firewall or Comodo Antivirus security software (or a leftover file after Comodo was uninstalled) can cause Firefox not to start with no error message. Update Comodo to the latest version, if you have it installed. If Comodo software is not installed, check if there’s a file called IseGuard64.dll or IseGuard32.dll in your C:Windowssystem32 folder or your system drive and, if so, manually delete the file.
• If you use certain versions of ZoneAlarm or other Internet security software that includes a «Virtual Browsing» feature, it can prevent Firefox from starting. Check virtualization settings and clear the virtual cache, if your Internet security software includes this feature, or visit the software provider’s support site for more help.
• Firefox may fail to start for some Windows users after updating, if AVG or AVAST antivirus is installed. For details, see this Techdows article.

• Webroot SecureAnywhere software can prevent Firefox from starting or loading any content, as reported in this Webroot forum post. This was fixed in Firefox version 97.0.1 so you should update Firefox to the latest version.

Firefox will not start after installing add-ons

Firefox previously worked

If Firefox previously worked but suddenly doesn’t start, it may be due to some corrupt data in your settings. Uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox would not fix this problem because your settings are not removed on uninstall.

To test to see if this is the problem, use the Profile Manager to create a new profile. If the problem goes away, you can then move your bookmarks and other important settings into the new profile.

Firefox will not start because of missing libraries

If you installed Firefox outside of your package manager, make sure that your system has the libraries listed in the system requirements.
