Did you test the latest bugfix-2.0.x code?

No, but I will test it now!

Bug Description

I have loaded Marlin 2.0.9.1 (Aug 3 2021 12:30:13) on my creality CR10s. It has worked well and I have been able to print several projects. My problem is that when I home my X and Y axis if the Y is at greater than 200mm from the home position the x axis homes and then the Y axis starts to home for about 20 mm then the printer sends Error:Printer halted. kill() called!.
If the Y axis is less than 40 mm from home when you start the homeing process all works OK!

I have looked at the signal on the Y limit switch with a «CRO» and bypassed it with a .01 uf cap which cleaned up the noise on that sencsor, but no change in fault.

Can you suggest a configuration fix or a means to get better fault information.

Bug Timeline

Started when I put BLtouch on the printer and used marlin Firmware

Expected behavior

I should be able to home from any point on the printer plan

Actual behavior

Homeing after a print when the Y axis is at 300mm fails

Steps to Reproduce

  1. print something and the printer moves tp Y 300mm
  2. remove print and home x and y axis From octoprint
  3. X axis homes
  4. Y axis fails

Help!

Building my first printer, and every time I try to home any axis (or start a print job for that matter), I get this error when the axis arrives at it’s home position. I have no mechanical endstop, using a MKS GEN1.4 board.

Attached here is my config and my printer settings in Repetier Host. If anyone is able to help I’ll be eternally grateful!

Please take an picture of the error, there should be a reason listed as to why kill was called.

Sadly there isn’t, which is why I’m so exasperated sad smiley (see attached)

In MatterHackers I got this in the log though, don’t know if it helps

<-Error: Printer halted. kill() called!

try an experiment

just send a «G28 Y0» to the printer from the control program
Does this also crash?
Does it home Y first?

Secondly just trigger the Y endstop by hand, does this also crash the machine?

also take a read of [reprap.org] someone else having what looks to be the same issue

Check if the end stops aren’t accidentally connected to short out +5V and GND. That would cause a brown out interrupt. I don’t know how Marlin handles it, it could just be that it doesn’t report a brown out and just halts the printer.

A while ago I installed a MKS Gen L V2 in my Ender 3. It worked well for quite a while after that. So I don’t think it is the cause of this error.

But recently I installed a combo of a Micro Swiss All Metal Hotend and a MDD from printermods.com. I got a couple of prints out of it, but then it suddently didn’t want to start properly.

When starting the printer starts beeping faster and faster from the display-area (I haven’t gotten the display working since installing the MKS Gen L V2, so I can’t see the error message there).

After connecting to my octoprint-server I got an error saying Error:Printer halted. kill() called!.

I then reinstalled the firmware and now get the following error:

Even before reinstalling the firmware I got no other indication of an error (from what I could tell) than Error:Printer halted. kill() called!.

Does anyone have an idea of, what might be wrong?

Hi,

I have compiled a 2.0.8 FW for my A10 with 3DTouch support. I was able to compile and flash the FW, but if i want home the printer i get a «homing failed printer halted please reset» error message.

See blow the parameters which i have changed in the default config, but i get this homing error, where is my fault?

Thanks in advance for the support!
