@joyryde What plugin from PayPal did you install instead?
It’s their new PayPal plugin, like their Stripe plugin. It’s in beta testing currently but will be available soon. If you want to beta test it you can contact them.
I am also facing the same issue with PayPal credit card payment option. All of my plugins are up to date. Please advise me what is the solution to fix this issue.
I was able to get ahold of someone from PayPal through their integration line. It turns out that “WooCommerce PayPal Payments” is still in a trial version and is not actively ready for market. I was told that in the next couple of weeks or so that an update will be published that resolves all these issue.
As to what to do for now?
I was told to revert back to “WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway” for the time being. Come March 1st when the old plugin support expires, I was told to use the “Angelleye” plugin to accept payments of credit cards via PayPal.
@tylerw23 Nice job getting a hold of them. I’m confused though. This is a trial version?? It doesn’t mention that on the landing page or change log. Also, they said they’re going to fix in next couple of weeks? So why are they suggesting Angelleye integration??
@toolbeltscharlie Evidently. They’re suggesting to go back to “WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway” til March 1st. Then, if there is an issue with the new plug in, to use Angelleye which is a certified partner of PayPal. I feel that Angelleye isn’t normally advertised because I can only assume that they take part of PayPal’s fees.
I’m not sure why they’re advertising everyone to swap if the new plugin isn’t market ready.

I have the same problem. I have disconnected from PayPal and reconnected and still doesn’t working. I tried buying something from myself and I got the error. Lost many sales. I had one today that came through as a failed payment but I actually got the money in my PayPal account, hhmmm I wonder if the buyer tried multiple times and one worked.

I have raised a JIRA, no one has replied.

The latest update 1.6.3 should help with stability as we identified an issue with custom order numbers that could result in orders failing despite successful payment.
If any issues remain, please open a new support thread respectively as the issues reported in this thread may not be caused by the same thing. Mixing different issues in a single thread makes it more difficult for us to help and is also not in accordance with the forum guidelines.

I have this same issue, a dozen failed orders in the last few days. All of them fail with this message:
Error processing checkout. Please try again.
How do we fix it?
I just tried checking out via PayPal on my own website and get the same error.
Still failing. 5 more orders today failed.
I believe I’ve found the flaw in the plugin. They changed something and now they show 2 gigantic buttons below the PLACE ORDER button:
If a customer clicks PLACE ORDER (common sense) it generates an error: Error processing checkout. Please try again.
If a customer DOESN’T click PLACE ORDER (not at all common sense), but instead clicks the gigantic PAY WITH PAYPAL button, then they can actually pay.
You cannot attempt to work around this flaw by disabling the “Enable buttons on Checkout” checkboxes in your settings because then PayPal vanishes completely as a payment method.
We will be uninstalling this failed plugin and installing the brand new one from the developer Payment Plugins.

The issue seems to be with the PayPal Card Processing option
For all that are having issues what is working for now in WooCommerce setting payment tab. Turn off PayPal Card processing. with Pay Pal still active this for me customer still have option to pay with PayPal or credit card. hope this helps. This has been such a faulty plugin. The PayPal gateway was much simpler with less issues too bad they are discontinuing it. The really should second think it.
We are seeing the same issue with version 1.6.4 but it only appears to fail with debit cards when using a Chrome browser on both Windows and MAC. Credit cards work fine as do debit cards on none Chrome browsers.
FYI we are UK based site.

Thanks @drmtees, disabling the “PayPal Card Processing” payment method worked for me using WooCommerce PayPal Payments v1.6.3. Doing so displays the black “Debit or Credit Card” button, which still allows users to pay via credit card.
Was a solution for this problem ever found?
Recently we made the switch from “WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway” to “WooCommerce PayPal Payments” as PayPal is retiring the Checkout Gateway from continued support starting I believe in March. However I am experiencing trouble with this new plugin. I as well as many now cannot successfully capture payments on their E-commerce sites. Every single time an order is attempted, a message saying “Error processing checkout. Please try again.”.
Has there been a solution to this? I am completely up to date on updates, I have the old plug in deactivated, and I set it up exactly according to the instructions.

They never resolved any issues we had with this plugin so we switched to a brand new one from the developer of our Stripe plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/woo-stripe-payment/) and we love it. Zero issues, we use it on both of our e-commerce sites.
We had stripe before but the problem we had with them is that they could not service our industry since we offer curbside retail consumer fireworks with ID Verification on pickup.
Hi Tyler, we switched from this flawed PayPal plugin to another PayPal plugin by the above developer; not to stripe.

Hello. I’ve just integrated Stripe (Thailand) with my WooCommerce website through this plugin and was testing the payment in the Test mode. However this message “Error Processing Checkout. Please try again.” came up upon checkout. But the payment went through in Stripe dashboard. Could you please advise me on how to fix the issue?

Before moving forward, can you tell me if the order was created? If so, what is the order status?
To get a better idea to address to your questions, please share a copy of your site’s System Status: You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.

Can you please temporarily switch the site’s theme to Storefront, and disable all plugins except WooCommerce and WooCommerce Stripe Gateway, to check if the issue is still present at this point?
You can use the Meks Quick Plugin Disabler, it will remember what plugins you currently have active, so it’s easy to switch them back on.
Let us know if that makes a difference.
The issue was gone if I only had WooCommerce and the WooCommerce Stripe Gateway plugins. The payment went through and there was no error message.
That’s mean the other plugin are conflicting with WooCommerce.
The best way to determine this is to:
- Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce and stripe payment gateway
- Repeat the action that is causing the problem
If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

Stripe configuration: Added all API keys for test and live environment
Test connection: Success
Problem 1: When making a test/live purchase, I don’t get option to enter card details even though when I have enabled the card in settings. When I click on place order I get an error: Error processing checkout. Please try again.

The first thing I see is you are using two Stripe plugins at the same time. Our plugin is called Payment Plugins for Stripe WooCommerce.
You appear to be using a cache plugin and that’s interfering with the checkout scripts loading. That’s why you don’t see the Google Pay payment option. Take a look at your cache settings and see if there is a setting that’s causing the issue.
1. I have removed the other ‘woocomerce stripe’ plugin from the wordpress, now only 1 plugin exists – Payment Plugins for Stripe WooComerce
2. I have deactivated ‘wp fastest cache’ so it won’t bother
3. I removed all browser history and cache and ran the checkout page again. But it returned with the same error
4. I did notice this before but forgot to mention it to you. But I can see that ‘ApplePay’ and ‘Gpay’ are both greyed out when I inspect the checkout page. See this screenshot
5. Additionally, when I click on the Credit/Debit cards button. It does not display the form to enter the card details
6. I just learnt from this website Apple Pay allowed country list, that Apple Pay is not supported in India. I believe that’s why it might not come anyways. I’ll just disable Apple Pay then.
7. But, GPay is well supported. I registered with Google pay today. I already had entered the merchant ID details in the Plugin settings area. So atleast Gpay and debit/credit functionality should work smooth.
🙁 Really want this to work. I triple-checked the STRIPE plugin details on the STRIPE website all seems fine. Something is not right

If you view source using your browser’s dev console, you will see the Stripe plugin’s Javascript files aren’t loading. That’s why you don’t see the credit card form or GPay. The Javascript files aren’t loading.
Are you not using the WooCommerce checkout shortcode for your checkout page?

How do I resolve this please?
Can you provide the steps that I need to do on your site in order to reproduce that error? E.g. Go shop page, select product X, add it to cart, etc.
To check better into the site’s setup, can you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.

The errors are related to ElementorPro, in this case, please reach out to Elementor support.
Then you can run the following actions/steps:
- Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront.
- Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce.
- Add any room to the cart and checkout.
At this point see if the issue is still present, if it is not present, it means there was a conflict and you can reactivate the theme and plugins gradually one by one and check again after each reactivation until you find the culprit. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.
If you do not want to make testing on your production site, you can request a staging facility from your host, or you can set up your own staging environment using WP Staging for quickly spinning up a new test site.

Can you please share what payment gateway was used that caused the error message: Error Processing Checkout. Please try again on your site?
I’d like to understand your site properly, please share your System Status Report that you can find via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.

I am not sure the error was it caused by premium plugin iPay88 Payment Gateway
Anyhow i have submitted ticket to the support team on this case. Hopefully respond as soon as possible to resolve the error

Hence, I would like to know how are you producing this error on your site? If you could share the step by step procedure, that would help us check this further.
Another solution would be to check for conflicts, if either your theme or another third-party plugin is causing this. Please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce plugin is enabled, use Direct Bank Transfer (BACS) and see if this works?

Hello,
1) Try to disable all the third-party plugins, that do not come bundled with the theme https://xstore.helpscoutdocs.com/article/36-included-plugins , and check how it works then.
2) Go to Appearance > Themes > install and activate the Storefront theme (default WooComerce theme). Test the process with the default theme. Do you have the mentioned errors?
