Error reliable snapshot overflow

This is a weird one That a bunch of people were getting when testing my new map. I've googled it and didn't really come up with much. Supposedly it's a steam problem that happens on some maps and steam hasn't released a fix yet. At least that is what some people are saying. On my beta version...

On my beta version of the map it didn’t have this problem, but on the beta2 version it did. It will pop up on the screen saying «error! reliable snapshot overflow» and kick that certain person and then it would happen to a couple of others. Anyone else heard of this?

It’s happened to me before, so I know what you’re talking about. Can’t remember what map I was on though. Other than that, I have no idea.

All I know is that it happens on murderball, almost every time a team wins.

Happens a lot on the map I made. Prob because of the 300 func_breakables ?? maybe because the server has a hard time restarting the map? Could that be it?

I always thought that a sniper was just too good… «headshot» is very similar to «snapshot» in the heat of the game :)

You got compile logs to see if there is anything waving at us? :D

I had this problem before and I remember a very high entdata.

I made a thread about it. But in the meantime I have halved the func_breakables or something. Havent seen the error since. But only been 6v6 for testing, instead of 12 v 12 like before :)

Ok, the original post is really old but I thought I would post just in case someone is still looking for an answer.

From what I’ve googled it seems like you might have too much happening inside your map for the game to keep track of — props, entities etc.

My huge map is almost done and I was also getting this same error message.

I found that by removing some of the props the message went away — try this first to see if it helps.

nnnnnnnnecro bump, and to be honest, a very very unneeded one.

Answer is you can ignore the error, its just Source throwing a little hissyfit.

Sorry was just trying to be helpful — I found that this was my solution to the error.

I also don’t know what the term necro bump means — I assume that it’s because the original post was really old but it -the topic- was still unanswered or there was not definitive answer to it — hence the reason I decided to make a post on the subject. If a new mapper came looking for an answer and saw an unfinished topic they would think that there isn’t an answer especially if the item is really old.

I tried my map five times and got the error message everytime. The message stopped as soon as I started to delete things and therefore I thought the answer might be helpful to someone else who might get the message — but I will ignore it from now on.

Error reliable snapshot overflow

Ok so recently Steam forums got hacked, and ever since then 10 mins after my srcds has been running Clients get the error reliable snapshot overflow. Sometimes people join they get this message a few seconds later. But mostly when they join and assign themselves to a team they freeze and get the error then disconnect. This only happens 10 minutes into the game. I dont know whats causing this I have tried switching maps, I searched this problem but found no solutions other than issues on TF2maps.net with too many props on a server causing this. I deleted my bin for srcds and re-installed and it did not fix it. Is this just a Steam thing for right now or did something go to shit? Please im so confused I just want my server running perfectly again

EDIT: BTW in my srcds it say about 100 times repeatedly «WARNING: msg overflowed for » then TF2 says » Disconnected from server (ERROR! Reliable Snapshot Overflow)»

Ok I fixed it, thanks for any attempted help or suggestions at all guys *sarcasm*

Figures it was a bad plugin(s). Some of these plugins gave all clients this error. Here are the plugins I removed then tested again to confirm restored client connection operation without this error. You might want to stay away from these plugins if you don’t want this error to happen with your clients on the latest version of Source Mod.

EDIT: Ok I got over my laziness and tested the plugins. THIS plugin is the one that makes your srcds get this shit error.

This is a new one for me.
And I can’t really find anything on it.

I am creating my map. I only created one side, the red side. Got that all done, everything still worked. I played it. I coped the red side, rotated it, and placed it where it’s supposed to go. And now it no longer works and I get this error.

I’ve done it like three times, and every time the same thing happens.

As far as I can tell, it’s usually caused by having too many props or other kinds of entities rendered at any given time in your map. This makes sense in your situation where the error didn’t occur at first, because only half the map was actually there. Keep in mind that things do not have to be shown on your screen to cause this problem. Poor mapping practices can cause larger amounts of your level to be rendered than is necessary.

Map does not load (error! reliable snapshot overflow)

I’m wondering if anyone can help me with this rather annoying problem. I recently started adding lights to my map (up until then everything had the unnatural glow) though I did not add light to everywhere on the map (that needed it) — just a couple of places to test out how the lighting looked in those places. I compiled the map, and it all ran fine.

I then added more lights and started getting problems with it crashing, so I followed the advice on this page ([INFO] How to make a complex map not entity CRASH!) but nothing has worked. Now when ever I try to compile and run the map I am always get the «error! reliable snapshot overflow» message.

In order to try and reduce things, I have removed all the lights from the map as well as turning everything that is not already one type of entity into a func_detail, but still with no difference in the outcome. FYI, my point entities count is 556 while my solid entities count is 592, making a total of 1,140.

If anyone can point me in the right direction or advise me on the probable reason for this error I would be most grateful!

Ошибка при заходе на сервер

Доброго всем времени суток. В общем, такая ошибка: Disconnect. ERROR! Reliable snapshot overflow. И выскакивает она как и при смене карты на сервере, так и при простом заходе на любой сервер. В чем дело и как от нее избавиться? Заранее благодарен за помощь.

Еще как вариант:
Ошибка происходит от обилия объектов на сервере (На нашем сервере есть подобная ошибка?)
