Hey. Installed 2013 and 2010 on Single Server no probe so not sure what’s different for this instance.
Windows Server 2012 R2 (All Available Updates)
SQL Server 2014 Enterprise with SP1
i can’t seem to get any further than this error message any help would be appreciated.
What’s the error in the log file (the link is purple, I know you looked at it! 🙂
My first thought is that SQL Server 2014 by default has the TCP/IP protocol disabled. You need to enable it in SQL Server Configuration Manager. This one trips me up often.
TCP/IP Is enabled in SQL Server Configuration Manager.
Can you explain further what you mean by installed 2013 and 2010 on Single Server?
SharePoint 2013 is the only supported version if you are upgrading to 2016 which means any 2010 DB needs to be upgraded to 2013 first.

Kirk. Ive previously done both as single server and never had this issue.
Its a fresh install Kirk not an upgrade.

Just a wild question, do you have domain sp2016.com on same machine or in another words, is this machine a DC as well?
When you promote the server as a Domain Control I gave it the Domain SP2016.com at that stage.
Running SQL Server 2014 on the same Server as a Dev Environment, the SQL instance was defaulted as MSSQLSERVER.
Yes this is a single server with DC, SQL and eventually SharePoint.
Its not recommended to install SP2013 on same server as DC.
Anyways, it seems that you used account ‘Administrator’ to connect to database server. If this is the case, you should be using one of the domain admins account. For this, create a user account and add it to domain admins first. Then use that account to configure database.
