Happens on most devices a11/a12, a10 and lower don’t seem to be affected, in this specific case I was using iPhone10,3 d22ap X to restore to 14.3/14.4

@Cryptiiiic

Was able to succeed with restore after commenting out the rsepfirmware command block, this sep panic happens in a11-a13 unless I comment this out: recovery.c#229

@opa334

A10 seems to be affected too

EDIT: although this is on the second most recent commit, which does not have the segment of code you mentinioned

@nikias

Are you sure this is idevicerestore and not futurerestore like in the screenshot? I recently restored an iPhone 7 (A10) with the latest codebase without any issues. Also please note that the FDR error is not an actual error condition but a connection closed event. It clearly fails though (seems like the device reboots).

@opa334

@nikias Yeah after digging some more, I think you can disregard my A10 concerns. It’s either because that user tried to restore to 14.2 (potential SEP incompatiblity) or it’s something else unrelated to idevicerestore as many users succeeded restores on A10, just not this guy for some reason. The original issue reported by @Cryptiiiic does exists tho.

EDIT: the user likely used a completely wrong SEP, so it’s definitely not an issue with idevicerestore, sorry for bringing it up ;p

@Cryptiiiic

@nikias actually this issue is caused by restore mode kernel being incompatible with restoresep, closing as its not related to idr itself, related to my device.

ERROR: Unable to receive message from FDR 000001A1EABB7DC0 (-2). 0/2 bytes #351

Hi,
I am try to restore my device using idevicerestore having pramater ‘-l’ in Window 10. But i got an error «ERROR: Unable to receive message from FDR 000001A1EABB7DC0 (-2). 0/2 bytes» in end. I am using latest code libimobiledevice and after searching on web ,I got no specific answer which solve my problem.
One answer I got on web is replace CPPFLAGS instead of libimobiledevice_CFLAGS from issue #284. But I can`t understand where or in specific file I have to replace this.
My output Given Below:-

# iBEC error (error code -8)

This is a common error which you may run into while using FutureRestore, especially if you are using a Windows machine. To fix this:

  1. Uninstall all Apple devices in Device Manager
    • Make sure to check «Uninstall Driver» when uninstalling
  2. Uninstall all Apple products including iTunes and Apple Device Support programs in the Control Panel
  3. Unplug and replug your device
  4. Check device manager for any Apple devices and uninstall them and any drivers
  5. Disconnect your device
  6. Install the iTunes .exe file from apple.com

Open in new window itself
Boot your device into Recovery Mode

Open in new window and plug it into your computer

  • Uninstall the iBoot (Recovery) driver and software from Device Manager
  • Run FutureRestore again
  • Unplug and replug your device.
  • Run FutureRestore again. This issue should now be resolved.
  • # Device ApNonce doesn’t match APTicket nonce

    This error means that you have not set your generator on your device to that of the blob. In order to solve this problem, follow the Setting nonce part of the FutureRestore page

    # SEP Firmware is not being signed

    This problem occurs when the user tries to manually specify SEP from the target version, instead of from the latest available version. To fix this problem, either choose the latest-sep argument or use the custom-latest or custom-latest-buildid with the custom-latest-beta argument with a compatible version provided based on the SEP/BB Compatibility Chart

    Open in new window (you can use https://appledb.dev to find the buildid for a version). You do not need to manually provide SEP or BB.

    # Could not connect to device in recovery mode / Failed to place device in recovery mode

    NOTE: if the error is similarly named, follow these steps too.

    • If your device is in recovery mode, run FutureRestore again while your device is in recovery mode.
    • If your device is not in recovery mode, enter recovery mode manually, then run FutureRestore again.

    # Error: Unable to receive message from FDR.

    The fix for this is either waiting (it can take a very long time) or just re-trying the process. This is an error that has been diagnosed but no fix for it is available as of the time of writing this.

    # About to send NOR data. No data to read

    If you get this error message, you may try stopping the futurerestore process and disabling the no-rsep argument. If the restore continues to get stuck here regardless if no-rsep is enabled or disabled, you may be unable to restore as the cause of this error has not been diagnosed at the time of writing.

    низ под рамкой целый, один обрыв PCIE_BB_BI_AP_CLKREQ_L , другой SPKRAMP_TOP_TO_COIL_OUT_NEG

    I was trying to Update and back-up my iPhone 8 to my computer. Nothing unusual or fancy, just the simple procedure of connecting my perfectly good and functioning iPhone to the computer, starting iTunes and selecting «download and update». Everything was going fine and then it crashed part way though the iOS install! iTunes said some error message (error14 maybe?) and my iPhone has never started since. It just has the «support.apple.com/iphone/restore» words on top with a picture of a computer and a lightening cable pointing to it. I’ve tried EVERYTHING automated apple support recommends to fix this problem, watched MANY YouTube tutorial videos, I spent a long time with Apple support on the phone and I spent hours of research time looking online for answers. Nothing worked.

    Is there any way to fix this or is my iPhone a brick for good? If its a hardware issue, what is most likely causing the problem? Is it a common thing for a simple update to cause hardware issues?

    Errors I think I found in the log:
