Hello,
It sounds to me like «prog.vb» has errors.
If you created «prog.vb» AND it’s in VB.Net, I’d ask in the
Visual Basic .Net Language forum on MSDN.If it’s in VB 6.0, VB 6 is no longer supported by Microsoft.
I’d suggest upgrading to the free
Visual Studio Community Edition or to a paid
Visual Studio version. If you really want to use VB 6, which has been out of support since
April 2008, I’d suggest using your favorite search engine to find a third party support forum. If however, it’s not a program you create4d, and you just want to stop getting errors, I’d ask in the
Windows forum on Microsoft Community. As the Microsoft Community is on a different platform, we cannot move the question for you.Once there, click on Participate near the top of the screen, and select ‘Ask a Question‘ or ‘Start a Discussion‘

Basic Basic — Identifier expected
I’m posting this for a read.
Why do I get vbnc30203:identifier expected
Code:
Input a Input b c=a+b Print c

Re: Basic Basic — Identifier expected
What «Basic» is this?
I would expect a complaint from VB6 that there is no # after the
Input keyword. Has anything but the MS-DOS Basic languages ever supported this syntax?

Re: Basic Basic — Identifier expected
The code looks like something you might see in qBasic, Quick Basic or VBDos. Older versions I would expect to see line numbers and newer versions I think dropped that function in favor of inputbox().

Re: Basic Basic — Identifier expected
Input reads from a file… it usually has the syntax
Input #1, awhere #1 is the file handle number (which also could be a variable if you used FreeFile) — doesn’t even have to be a physical file… just a file pointer, it could be virtual, or even point to a device or port.

Yes in VB6 it does, but in older forms of Basic there was the Input function which allowed you to get input from the console window via user keyboard input. Print would write to the console window and input would accept input from the console. Windows versions have did away with the console methods and use inputbox to get user keyboard input and print now prints to the form rather than the console.
It would appear that if the code in the code was being used in VB6 that some one has tried to use the old Dos versions syntax rather than VB syntax

Re: Basic Basic — Identifier expected
If you do a Google Search for vbnc30203:identifier expected you will find some references to an online VB.Net compiler. Whatever it may be…

Here’s a PowerPoster with over six thousand posts. Wonder why he said: I’m posting this for a read.
The guy’s knowledge of VB6 is probably pretty good (or maybe VB.NET) as he has been around this forum for almost 14 years. So, curious why such a clandestine post here ‘for a read’. Hmmm
