The error is with facebook. Go to Privacy -> Apps, Games and Websites on facebook and turn on all platform apps. iPhoto should now be able to connect to facebook, and if you refresh the page you should see «iPhoto Uploader» under «apps you use»

Hopefully that works for you.

The Facebook setting worked for me.

Thank you, worked for me as well & I have spent ages scratching my head over this.

Facebook privacy settimgs change almost monthly, right? So can someone please be really specific about what setting in FB and where to find it? I went to Privacy and could not find anything blocked that would affect iPhoto. I am getting this error message and it’s making me crazy. I’ve already had to reset my FB password because of it.

So I turned OFF all «platform apps» (only had a couple allowed) then turned it to «allow platform apps» and still no dice. This is nuts. Anyone?

Anybody find a good solution for iPhoto ’09 error? So far all of the solutions provided hasn’t worked for me. When I log in with an incorrect password, my name, email and picture shows up in iPhotouploader and ask to input a correct password. When I put in the correct password I get an error message that reads, «An error occurred with iPhoto Uploader. Please try again later.» I have been using iPhoto for a long time, and this has never happened before! Please help. If I find a solution I will post it.

Have a look at my answer at

You have to specify each field you want to query now with v2.4. If you want to explicitly use v2.3, you need to prepend your calls by /v2.3 like this:

Seems like there’s currently a bug regarding requests made with app access tokens instead of user access tokens:

At this moment, I pretty much figured out what is happening, and it looks like a bug in the Facebook API.

For v2.3 and lower: The /PAGE-ID call will return an Unknown server error when you don’t pass ?fields=username (for example). If you do pass the fields option, it will work. You can get it out of the docs.

For v2.4: This will work, but you will miss a lot of data, so you’ll also have to pass the fields options. But if you don’t pass that, this version will give you back only the most basic of details. This is as described in the version release: https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/2015/07/08/graph-api-v2.4/

So the solution for now, would be to add the ?fields= everywhere you need, or to wait for Facebook to maybe ever solve it. (And while you’re at it, you might as well upgrade to v2.4 😉

Fix: An Unknown Error Has Occurred (Code 1) on Facebook

Get rid of Facebook error code 1 with easy steps

  • For various issues like lack of permission, network problem, corrupted cache, cookies, etc., Facebook may not perform properly, and you may get an error code 1.
  • Though the problem can be a result of Facebook’s internal issues, you also should try some methods to verify if it is from your end or not.
  • If clearing temporary data and providing required permissions doesn’t help, correct the Time and date to see if it helps.
  • You also can reset network settings or follow other methods from this article to solve this problem.

If you are frequently or repeatedly getting the problem: An unknown error has occurred code 1 on Facebook, don’t worry. This article has efficient solutions that will help you.

In general, error code 1 mostly occurs on the Facebook smartphone app. However, the same thing may happen on the web too. You will mostly get it on a known or a new device during log-in. You also may face the same error when logging into something else using Facebook.

This problem can occur suddenly without showing any other symptoms. That makes it very critical to troubleshoot. However, like most other errors, you can overcome this one if you follow the right way.

Why is my Facebook saying unknown error when I try to log in?

When you try to log in on Facebook or even somewhere using Facebook, you may get a message like: Login failed [1]. This unknown error also may occur with Messenger with the same error code 1. It happens due to some common reasons. These are:

  • Disabled permission on third-party services or the Facebook app itself
  • Network related problem
  • Facebook service is down
  • Problem on a specific device
  • Corrupted cache and data

If you take care of these things, you will be able to fix this error.

How do I fix an unknown error has occurred code 1 on Facebook?

1. Clear cache and data

1.1 On browser

  1. Open your browser on a PC or Mac.
  2. Press CTRL + Shift + Del for PC or Command + Shift + Del for Mac.

If necessary, you can re-install the app. On iOS, you won’t find any way to clean the cache. So, you will need to re-install the app there.

But, if you cannot log in on Facebook, modifying permission may help sometimes.

3. Delete third-party connected apps

  1. Go to Apps and websites like before.

Facebook API Error: An unknown error has occurred.

Home › Forums › Calendar Products › Event Aggregator › Facebook API Error: An unknown error has occurred.

Facebook import has stopped working as of this morning and I receive the error message as shown.

  • This topic was modified 7 years, 6 months ago by media325 .

Facebook API Error returned for [PageID]: An unknown error has occurred.

Updated to 3.11 and receive more detailed errors, but still errors. It has to do with the Facebook API https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/486654544831076/
and the way the info is called.

Since this happens with 3.11 and it’s a known issue it’s would be nice if MT would acknowledge the issue and give us an update

I got the same error too.

Thank you guys for the prompt report! I will take a look at this immediately. Going to consult with some devs and get back to you.

Alright I have some good news and some strange news. The strange news is that Facebook appears to have broken v2.2 of their API, which our plugin uses. They state everywhere that it’s supported until 2016. It’s rare to see them break anything.

The good news is that v2.4 of their API is still working, and so our developers are already hard at work writing an upgrade to the Importer plugin that will use the newer version. If no bugs are found in the new version we’re working on, then we are set to release it later today or early tomorrow. That version will be Facebook Importer 3.11.1 and will fix this issue.

It’s also possible that in the mean time Facebook will discover their error, and restore import functionality for the current 3.11 and lower versions. Either way this will be taken care of ASAP. Thanks for letting us know about the glitch!

  • This reply was modified 7 years, 6 months ago by Brook .

Was about to post same error 🙂

Thanks Brook & Team for acting to quick on this.

You’re welcome! We are working on QA’ing the new code. We found one bug, but it is likely to be resolved late today if not early tomorrow.

FYI. Import by event id still work appropriately.

I noticed in the Graph API tool. It was getting hung up as well when trying retrieve multiple events. Something else other than version maybe going on.

Update. Facebook import is working this morning. Apparently Facebook has fixed the issue.

That’s awesome Douglas. We also just launched 3.11.1 of Facebook Events. So if you are still experiencing issues, definitely upgrade the plugin in WordPress. Please let us know if you guys notice anything else.

This topic has not been active for quite some time and will now be closed.

unknown error facebook

Here we can see “unknown error facebook”

Common Error Messages

  • An unexpected error has occurred. Would you please retry your request later?
  • An unknown error has occurred.

The Fix

Clear your cache!

  • The keyboard shortcut to the present is CMD/CTRL + SHIFT + DELETE.

For Chrome, here’s the way it looks:

Once you click “Clear data” and clear your browser cache, close and re-open your browser, then launch Facebook and log in.

Facebook test API: “An unknown error has occurred” when creating a new test user

When creating a test user via the Facebook Graph API – with a POST to the /{app-id}/accounts/test-users edge – you’ll pass a “name” parameter within the POST body. Once you do that, you would possibly revisit an OAuth error with the message “An unknown error has occurred.”

There are several possible causes for this, but here is one I even have not seen documented anywhere else. It seems the Facebook API is extremely sensitive to the format of the name you pass in. especially, the name string must:

  • It consists of exactly two words (a first and last name), separated by one space
  • Both words must start with exactly one capital, with all subsequent letters lowercase
  • Neither word may contain any numeric digits

It was failing to possess a reputation that adheres to those causes of the “unknown error.” There are probably other strictures also. If you’re creating a test user with a custom name, and encounter this error, try the API call with a secure name like “Joe Smith” and see whether it reproduces.

User Questions:

1. Receiving `code: 1, error_subcode: 99, message: An unknown error occurred [HTTP 500]` on querying Pages API for page posts.

Hey team, so upon querying the Pages API for getting posts for a page for a particular duration, I’m receiving the error mentioned above for a few of the pages. Firstly, the error message isn’t clear in explaining the matter, and upon digging a touch found this answer https://developers.facebook.com/support/bugs/215595309233224/ here on the Facebook developer forum. So here, it’s mentioned that the error is due to requesting or tons of fields in one call. Still, I’m getting that error even on requesting only seven fields from the Pages API, so I just wanted to understand where I can find info about the limit for fields for the Pages API? And does async requests work for the Pages API also, or it’s just supported within the marketing API?. this is often the query format I’m using to urge the posts “me?fields=posts.since(%{since}).until(%{until}){%{dimensions_to_fetch}}”,

2. Signup failed thanks to an unknown error

When entering the configuration, the Audience Network and the subsequent error message appear when pressing start.

Signup failed thanks to an unknown error. Please retry. Signup failed thanks to an unknown error in our system. Please retry.

Although I used to be accepted within the Instant articles, I can’t complete the settings due to this problem.

3. An unknown error has occurred while processing this request. Would you please try again later?

While submitting to the hub, this happened. An unknown error has occurred while processing this request. Would you please try again later? When I tried to save lots of it, this happened. Unknown Error Occurred An unknown error has occurred while processing this request. Would you please try again later? please help please provide how to undergo spark hub

It creates empty uncompleted projects in spark hub, i.e., no video, no image, no description..etc. after showing this error message and still that very same error popup when edit those uncompleted projects created and click on save/submit

4. “An Unknown Error Occurred” – Logging In

Unable to log in with the correct Facebook information. I repeatedly get an equivalent error saying, “An Unknown Error Occurred,” “Please try again later.”

5. Getting this unknown error

Hello, I’m trying to run another campaign but since yesterday unable to publish it. As a result, I’m getting the following error after pressing the publish button.

The entity backed by id 1800796 can’t be seen by the viewer with (ViewerID 100002184085575, AccountID 100002184085575, AppID 119211728144504): UNKNOWN_REASON (EntID: 1800796)

I was told that one among the apps is causing this error but surprisingly. There’s no app currently installed on this ad account/page. Now I’m asked to contact and obtain support from the developer community. Please help!

I fixed the problem locally with the ugliest patch. It also contains code that kinda mitigates (in a horrible way, include unistd and sleep(2) ) the #73 mega annoying bug. If someone feels like fixing this in a proper way, here is the patch for some hints:

    Same here:

Facebook API Error returned for [PageID]: An unknown error has occurred.

Updated to 3.11 and receive more detailed errors, but still errors. It has to do with the Facebook API https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/486654544831076/
and the way the info is called.

Since this happens with 3.11 and it’s a known issue it’s would be nice if MT would acknowledge the issue and give us an update

That’s awesome Douglas. We also just launched 3.11.1 of Facebook Events. So if you are still experiencing issues, definitely upgrade the plugin in WordPress. Please let us know if you guys notice anything else.

    Cheers!
