failed to uninstall Java: XPC Connection Error («redux» . solved)
«How very, very interesting.» I just encountered this error when Java offered to update itself on my machine. The «automatic updater» recognized that an old version of Java was installed, offered to remove both it and the cache, and failed to do so with an «XPC Connection Error,» after which it simply quit! (And basically disappeared altogether.)
(MacOS Monterey latest, etc.)
Anyhow, I followed the recommendations given in another now-closed thread on this forum, and it worked: go to the Oracle website, and first run the uninstaller . which completed successfully. Next, run the installer, which also completed successfully.
«But to me, this is some kind of a bug that really should be reported to Oracle, if it hasn’t already been.» Their automatic-update process ought not encounter any sort of error . particularly since the two-step process didn’t. Let alone «fail and completely disappear!» (Note: I ran first the uninstaller, then the installer . I did not try running their installer first. Maybe that’s part of the bug – in their installer? Dunno.)
Anyhow: here’s what I just encountered and here’s what worked to solve the problem. (I recall having had this problem for quite some time, actually . I just didn’t bother to pay attention to it or try seriously to fix it.)

Java XPC Error
I am trying to install the latest Java 8 update (Java 8 Update 271) but every time I try to update, either via the Settings App or by downloading the installer manually from their site, I get the following error. There are a bunch of posts around the internet about this, but none that I have found that provide a solution to the issue. I have tried rebooting and that doesn’t fix the issue either.

Have you tried going directly through http://www.java.com/
I have, but even the standalone installer results in the same error.
in that event, it may be some data corruption or something installed that shouldn’t. Let us know your Etrecheck results:
Here’s what the report contains.
Are there any applications in the list you don’t recognize?
No, I recognize them all.
Then I would contact the company whose software depends on Java and ask them to make an update that works with the Java on your system.
What has been rather an oddity on the side, which could be impacting it, is many corporate users are now having to pay for licensing Java 8v203 and later, and this is restricting their access on Windows 10. This may also create problems for companies wanting a nice open platform to develop their software around. It may be time simply to find a different app.

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.2), Bad uninstall iPhoto

I’ve solved this!
The problem is not with Spotlight, but with Launch Services. There are two steps to solving the problem:
- sudo mkdir /private/var/db/lsd
- sudo /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.fra mework/Support/lsregister -kill -seed -lint -r -f -v -dump -domain local -domain system -domain user -domain network
The first one creates the folder that the launch services daemon needs to store the database. That’s why LaunchServices is getting an -10822 error, because it can’t create the database, so it keeps resetting the connection. The second command tells launch services to kill the old database and create a new one from scratch. Voila!

Same Error messages in system.log
Even after restart of my iMac
What functional problem do you have, if any? Log messages are not a problem in themselves.
Sometimes I have temporary frreeze. It doesn’t seem to be directly in relation with these messages
But I don’t think that it is a normal behaviour. Perhaps there is a more serious problem which has apparently no consequence now.
Sometimes I have temporary frreeze
How often? How long? What are you doing at the time?
Not often, perhaps once by week
I do nothing special
I am suspicious about iphoto and stream photo with it, because it didn’t worked when photo came.
And I have deleted iPhoto.app in the finder
It’s not clear to me that you actually have a problem. If you do have one, you would have to describe it in more detail. A brief lag in responsiveness once in a while is not abnormal. I suggest that you avoid reading the log unless something is really going wrong. You’ll always find frightening messages in there, even when the computer is working perfectly.
It is clear that I have no functionnal problem at this moment
But for me, when a computer or other system display error messages, somthing goes wrong an I try to solve the problem before a real fuctionnal problem appears.
Thanks a lot for your time
I am having nearly the same issue as the one described above, though my functional problem is an absurd amount of lagging. While typing this sentence, I’ve had two beach balls, one for 5 seconds, and the other for 7 seconds. Try to cmd-shift between two apps or open multiple tabs in Safari? Forget it. The time can increase to 10-15 seconds with each lag, while doing so multiple times within a minute. It’s maddening! While this computer has certainly been getting a little slower as the years have gone by, this behavior is totally uncharacteristic and started within the last week. My first inclination was that my hard drive is going bad, but I’ve checked SMART status’ in Disk Utility and everything appears to be okay. At some point in my search, it was suggested that I turn off Spotlight by dragging my entire volume into the «Privacy» list. This helped tremendously — I would say the lagging has been roughly cut in half, both in time and frequency. However, again, I’m still getting an uncharacteristic amount of lag when doing to simplest of things — like typing — multiple times per minute! Here is what the console is saying:
1/18/16 11:09:02.000 PM kernel[0]: disk0s2: I/O error.
1/18/16 11:09:02.838 PM systemstatsd[502]: assertion failed: 15C50: systemstatsd + 6747 [5BD3E614-1FAF-3820-8738-F2D7DE8F3FAE]: 0xa

1/18/16 11:08:03.465 PM com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.photostream-agent) Service only ran for 0 seconds. Pushing respawn out by 10 seconds.
This is repeated over and over, 4001 times, within the last 68 minutes. The I/O error is what had me thinking the HD is going, though I don’t know what to think anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

XPC connection interrupted
I am getting this error, «XPC connection interrupted» and caused my app to crash.
Any idea what is this?
I had tried to simulate but can’t seems to get it to «crash». It happened at random moment while in app without any pattern (be it trying to call server API or processing json, etc).
The error message that I’m getting is «XPC connection interrupted» and nothing else. I have no idea what ios version that causes it to crash.
Appreciate if anyone can help.
Replies
An XPC connection is interrupted when the remote process terminates. This can happen for abnormal reasons (for example, the remote process crashing) and for normal reasons (the system terminating the remote process to recover memory). If you’re using XPC directly, which is typically only done on macOS [1], you must be prepared to handle either eventuality.
However, it seems that you’re on iOS, in which case you rarely use XPC directly but rather use it via some framework, and it’s the framework’s responsibility to handle interruptions. So the actual problem here is a bit of a mystery.
I am getting this error, «XPC connection interrupted» and caused my app to crash.
Please post the crash report you got.

[1] XPC is available on iOS starting with iOS 11, but the only supported use case is custom calls to file providers, which is a pretty obscure part of the system. If you’re using XPC directly, please do let me know.
now i have a trouble with xpc.
I need to load a dynamic library use xpc..this library need to display UI.Then console catch error :

‘NSWindow drag regions should only be invalidated on the Main Thread!’
Something in your process is calling AppKit from a secondary thread. It’s hard to say what because you’ve posted a truncated backtrace. What does the full backtrace look like?

Oh, you’re running this within an XPC Service! That’s a critical tibit.
Consider this snippet from your crash report:
What’s weird about this is that the main queue is being run by thread 4. In normal application code, the main queue is always run by the main thread, that is, thread 0.
The reason this is happening is that you’re inside an XPC Service. By default an XPC Service’s main thread calls
(see its man page), and that triggers a very nice but very unusual behaviour: It terminates the main thread but leaves the process running!
This is nice because it saves resources. If the XPC Service is dormant, there’s no point leaving a thread lying around doing nothing.
It’s weird because of its impact on main queue operations. When you dispatch something to the main queue, you expect it to run on the main thread, but here there’s no main thread to run the main queue. Instead, Dispatch temporarily assigns some other worker thread to run your main queue work. Main queue work is still serialised, it’s just not running on the main thread.
The problem comes when you call AppKit, which has all sorts of ‘must run on the main thread’ checks. In situation like this these checks will fail, throwing an exception that terminates your XPC Service process.
Fortunately there’s an easy fix: Configure your XPC Service to not call
. You do this by setting the property to . See the man page for details.

I have attempted to install xpc connection but my Mac refuses to install it. I have changed the directory, followed instructions in issue #2 with nothing changed.
Below is what I have.

Try: sudo npm i -g xpc-connection —unsafe-perm

Still has errors even with the —unsafe-perm syntax:
