I have an OpenVPN access server appliance running latest builds.
Windows clients with existing Connect client are working fine
New computers can install the connect client (downloaded from the Access server Appliance) fine.
The problem seems to only occur if I try to upgrade an existing client (using standard uninstall existing client and install new client process)
I have logged a ticket and support have only suggested the basics and effectively say — Oh well you may have to re-install Windows (which I had to do on a previous occasion)
Surely someone can look at the install logs (which show some file not found errors during the copying files stage of the setup) and point me in the right direction as to a manual fix and I don’t want to rebuild this laptop with windows 10.
The Error that pops up is » OpenVPN Connect Setup Wizard ended prematurely .. OpenVPN Connect Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, run Setup wizard again. Click the Finish button to exit the Setup Wizard.»
The version I’m trying to install is openvpn-connect-3.2.2.1455_signed.msi
I have also tried installing older versions 3.1.3.713 and 2.6.1 (also fail)
Windows 10 is up to date (build 2004)
There are currently no TAP adapters installed (checked show hidden devices in Device Manager)
Below is the contents of one of my failed install attempts. Sorry for the large chunk of txt but there appears to be no way to upload a txt file.
Hopefully someone will look at this and know exactly what is wrong.
Cheers Jeff

Re: Pulse Secure Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modifi
It seems that the installation of Juniper Network service is failing, can you please uninstall any Antivirus that was installed, reboot the machine and attempt the installation again…
Do you have any other VPN clients like Cisco Anyconnect, etc.? If yes, please uninstall and try to install Pulse client.

Re: Pulse Secure Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modifi
in addition to what [email protected] prompted, that looks to be a permissions issue. are you an admin on your machine?
has pulse been installed on this system previously?
are you using the 64 bit installer (i am sure you are, but i have seen instances where the wrong installer was provided)
i would recommend working with our support team for further assistance

Re: Pulse Secure Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modifi
No, any other VPN clients like Cisco Anyconnect, etc.
I dont have rights to uninstall the antivirus.
I can only reinstall the PC and install the Pulse Secure as first application so there will be not the AV (antivirus) but this is the last chance that I want to use.
I have also some doubts that AV is blocking that.
We use Trend Micro.

Re: Pulse Secure Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modifi
Yes, I am admin of the PC.
The machine is fresh installed but the installation of Pulse Secure was runned after Trend Micro installation and maybe this could be the issue.
Yes, I use 64 bit installer. We use Pulse Secure 5.1.5.60701.
I would rather the find the root cause.
How can use the support team to get the root cause?
Thanks.

Re: Pulse Secure Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modifi
thank you for getting back to us, @mirek81. it is possible that there is an interference in order of installation. with that said, however, i am more worried about that version of Pulse with Windows 10 b1709. I do not believe that is a supported combination.
is this for connecting to an SRX (limited to Pulse 5.1) or PCS/MAG appliance (up to Pulse 9.1)?
the support team will be able to review the logs to see if there is anything that jumps out and work with our development team for further investigation, if needed

Re: Pulse Secure Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modifi
Ah.. Trend Micro! It could be the issue.
Can you please go to network Adapter settings >> Right click on available Adapter like WiFi or Ethernet >> Properties >> See if you find any Drivers related to «Trend Micro».
If yes, then… You got it 😉

Re: Pulse Secure Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modifi
As @zanyterp mentioned, please consider upgrading to higher versions like 5.3R7, 9.0R4, 9.1R1 clients if you’re are connecting to any Pulse Secure device from windows 10 1709 build.

Re: Pulse Secure Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modifi
Yes, I got «Trend Micro NDIS 6.0 Filter Driver» on Ethernet adapter and also on Wi-Fi adapter.
Do should I uncheck it ?
Thanks.

I can’t upgrade to different version due our company polices.
