Рассказывать о Forza Horizon 4, не упомянув предшественницу, наверное, невозможно. Ведь четвёрка» не просто взяла многое от «тройки», но и развила её идеи. Несколько лет назад от «цифровой Австралии» разработчики взяли всё возможное. Скрупулёзно перенесли разнообразную природу, самобытную культуру и потрясающие пейзажи на экран. И добавили два DLC. Одно серьёзное, про горы, лёд и снег. Другое — немного дурашливое — про пластмассовые «Американские горки» в партнёрстве с Hot Wheels.
Всё было практически идеально: картинка, звук, прогрессия, баланс между свободой выбора и разумными ограничениями… Вот только реиграбельность со временем сжималась похлеще, чем в каком-нибудь линейном шутере. Да, при должном уровне упорства можно было месяцами «проходить на платину», выцарапывая редчайшие достижения. Но обычному геймеру после завершения кампании быстро становилось скучно. Потому что в мультиплеере его ждало два разочарования.
Хочешь гонять по сети на машинах высшего дивизиона (то есть с рейтингами A, S1, S2, X)? Изволь иметь прямые руки и хладный ум — а они не у всякого водителя в избытке. Получить же необходимый опыт в умеренном классе производительности (D, C или B) было практически невозможно. Любую комфортную для новичка машину рвали в клочья собранные «под регламент» франкенштейны — игра считала индекс производительности из соотношения мощности и доступного сцепления с трассой. Само собой, доведя по предела один параметр и максимально занизив второй, можно было получить лютого монстра, формально считавшегося «проходным». Этой «дырой» пользовались все, кому не лень — в итоге на сетевых покатушках порог вхождения был очень высок.
Оставлять это «как есть» было бы преступлением. И, разумеется, в Horizon 4 это исправили.
И не только это — такое ощущение, что разработчики учли вообще всё, изучив и своё прошлое творчество, и труды конкурентов. То там, то тут вы будете замечать удачно «подсмотренные» механики из Need For Speed (2015), The Crew и даже GTA V. Всё, что нашли хорошего — взяли, переосмыслили, преумножили и реализовали.
Например, графику вывели на предел возможностей консолей. Игру проектировали «в обратном порядке» — сперва под 100% эксплуатацию ресурсов Xbox One X, а уже потом «ужимали» до эффективной работы на обычном One, который и в 2013 году не блистал характеристиками. И, вы знаете, даже там Horizon 4 работает идеально. Детальный анализ графических технологий от главных экспертов индустрии — Digital Foundry — заставляет сначала сомневаться в реальности происходящего, а дальше просто сидеть с тупой улыбкой перед монитором. Разработчики явно применили какое-то чёрное колдунство: то ли души позакладывали, то ли в жертву младенцев принесли кому надо, но факт есть факт.

На что там ещё жаловались? Мало контента? Вот вам в четыре раза больше: одна карта, четыре времени года (то есть гоночных сезона) и в каждом — свои вызовы. Не хватает? Пожалуйста — часть контента доступна только зимой, другая — летом, весной или осенью. Со сменой погоды меняется и поведение автомобилей на трассе. Кроме того, у каждого типа гонок свой «ведущий», своя шкала прогресса и бонусы. И если кажется, что двигаться дальше некуда — осмотрите карту повнимательнее, дождитесь нового сезона фестиваля или включите его вручную в настройках заезда. Новые вызовы здесь не заканчиваются никогда.
Быстрее быстрого
За чудеса оптимизации хочется выписать отдельный чек на сотню баксов и отправить в офис Playground Games. Да, Horizon 3 неплоха, но с новинкой не идёт ни в какое сравнение. Всё стало сложнее, ярче и разнообразнее, а работает лучше. Forza Horizon — игра с открытым миром, и правильная расстановка приоритетов в детализации очень важна. Что было чрезмерно проработанным — подрезали до разумных величин, остальное же — сделали ещё круче. Всё равно вы не будете разглядывать текстуры сидений во время заезда — поверьте, вам будет не до того.
Гонять по полю баранов в тщетных попытках нафармить мясца на шашлык (пардон, на кошерный шотландский хаггис) — бесценно.
И ладно бы только сами гонки — всё стало шустрее. Прогрузка из главного меню в открытый мир ускорилась, чтобы не соврать, раза в три. А мучительной загрузки каждого меню (словно у вас не супер-быстрый SSD, а ноутбучный «хард») нет и в помине — всё просто летает. И отлично структурировано. В общем, по части управления (настройкам, переключениям между гонками и тюнингом авто) всё также шикарно.
Ну и самое главное — ощущение скорости. Оно зависит не только от кадровой частоты и эффекта размытия в движении, но и от грамотно выставленного угла обзора. «Универсального» решения в играх от третьего лица нет — правильное значение зависит от диагонали дисплея, соотношения его сторон и расстояния от зрителя до экрана. К счастью, теперь в меню настроек можно подправить FOV для каждого из положений камеры и получить адекватное воспроизведение картинки по бокам. С выставленными «под себя» параметрами вам будет страшно гонять по лесу на крохотном Mini Cooper даже со скоростью 70 км/ч. А вваливать там же 200+ км/ч на раллийном монстре группы Б — нет. Просто авто размотает об ближайшее дерево куда раньше, чем успеете испугаться.
Фестиваль скорости — это жизнь
По части активности в Forza Horizon 4 всё настолько хорошо, что рассказывать как-то неловко: просто включаешь игру, влезаешь в ближайший заезд, а потом понимаешь, что хотел сегодня лечь пораньше, а на часах — опять пол-четвёртого. Но самое важное — это живой онлайн.
Прощай, необходимость собираться в специальном режиме! До свидания, попытки согнать народ на созданную тобой трассу! Адьё, посиделки в сугубо гоночных лобби со стандартными правилами!
Играть через интернет можно в любой момент, не выходя из одиночной кампании.
Отныне на карте висят иконки сетевых заездов, привязанных к «Форзафону» (Forzathon) — марафону скорости, очков сетевой активности и крутых призов за них. Хочешь, запускай их в PvE режиме и круши с другими игроками ботов. Хочешь — катайся в PvP и демонстрируй своё превосходство живым оппонентам. Да и вообще любую гонку можно запустить в онлайне. Для любителей совместного исследования мира оставили режим «конвой» — вчетвером искать ангар с очередным раритетом куда проще, чем одному.
