Hello guys, I hope you are having an excellent day.

Well everything started trying to download Optifine, it appeared this message (java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space). I did a lot of stuff to fix this… I did the following stuff:

-Go to Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Virtual Memory > Change… >Then I uncheck the Automatically manage paging file… > Then I clicked the «C:» I checked custom size and I put on Initial size and Maximum size 5000 MB. Basically I «added» RAM to my CPU. I founded this with this video:

So after I did that I got this message: Could not create the java virtual machine

And I add a system variable with the following stuff:

_JAVA_OPTIONS

-Xmx512m

Here is the video where I founded it

And I gave up and I deleted Optifine of the mods folder. I put my mods back to its folder and now I get the same problem java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

HELP PELASE!

Thanks for reading…

So you are getting java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space and run out of ideas on what to do, especially if you are a user of any Java application and not the programmer or developer, this could be a tricky situation to be in. I receive lots of emails from Minecraft user ( a popular Java game), along with junior developers who are using Tomcat, Jetty, Untow, JBoss, WebSphere, Android user, who uses Android apps and several other Swing-based Java desktop application user complaining about java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space in their Mobile or Laptop.

For users, there is not much they can do, but to restart the application. When you restart your application, previous memory get reclaimed by OS and it’s a fresh start for your application, but you may lose data, which is not saved, especially if you are playing Java games like Minecraft.

Junior programmers, they have some
options, but they need to understand that all these web and application
servers and IDEs like Eclipse, IntelliJ, and NetBeans are Java programs
and can be configured to run with more memory.

You just need to find out their startup script, from where they are launching the java command to start the process and modify the value of -Xmx JVM option to a higher value, subject to your machine configuration, or simply add -Xmx JVM option if it’s not already there.

Before doing this it’s better to understand some basics about Java Heap memory, why java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space comes and what are JVM options to fix this error.

Basics about Java Heap Memory

When we start the Java program, JVM requests some memory from OS. Based upon whether your Java Program is running on Windows, Linux, Solaris, or Android-based smartphones, there is a default Java Heap space and a maximum Java Heap memory.

Theoretically in a 32-bit machine, the maximum memory a process can have is in the range of 2^32 i.e 4GB, but in reality, the actual limit is quite less e.g. somewhere around 1.7GB in Windows and around 2.5 GB in Linux. I suggest reading this article to know more about these limits.

Similarly, you can either run on a 32-bit JVM or 64-bit JVM, if your machine is a 64-bit machine, then this maximum heap space limit extended to a very high value of 2^64 bit, but again limited by your physical RAM. Now a brief about this error, by reading java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space, we can clearly see that JVM is running out of memory in heap space.

Heap space is where objects are created in Java, and as your play games, deploy applications or web servers like Tomcat, JBoss, and Websphere, lots of objects are created in Heap memory. Later, when those objects become eligible for Garbage collection, they are collected by Garbage Collector and memory is returned to Java Heap Space.

If there are too many live objects in memory, because of poor programming or if memory is not enough to hold a required number of objects, you will get java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space, when Java tries to create another object.

How to fix java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

JVM Option to fix java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java Heap Space

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap Space in Eclipse, Tomcat, MineCraftNow there are 2 ways to fix java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space, either by finding any memory leak or by increasing heap space. There are two JVM options, which is particularly important to java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space, is -Xms and -Xmx, which configures starting and maximum heap memory for JVM.

-Xms<size> to set initial Java heap size like -Xms1024M setting 1GB
-Xmx<size> to set maximum Java heap size e.g. -Xmx2048M setting 2GB

These JVM options are provided at the time of starting the Java application. If you are getting java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space in Eclipse, Netbeans, IntelliJ, Tomcat, JBoss, or WebSphere, where you don’t have any control on source code, you can simply find their start-up script and can increase the value of -Xmx parameter.

For Eclipse this data is in eclipse.ini file in vmargs section.

For example on my computer, Eclipse has the following memory settings :

$ vmargs -Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5 -Xms40m -Xmx384m.

Similarly, Tomcat keeps its Java heap settings on catalina.bat or catalina.sh depending upon, whether you are running Tomcat on Windows or UNIX.

Similarly, for all other Java applications, you just need to find the file, where these settings are located or from where «java» command is executed. Increasing Java heap space can immediately solve this problem, but if you see this problem again, then there is a good chance of memory leak in that Java application.

Two words on Memory Leak in Java Application

Saying that a Java program can have a memory leak is a little surprising for many programmers because they think that Garbage Collector will reclaim memory, and that’s one of the reasons, why Java is a popular programming language. Bug, GC has its limitation, it can not reclaim the object, which is undesired but still referenced by some object in Program.

This memory, which should be free but still can not be reclaimed is called Memory leak in Java. If you see java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space, even after increasing heap space, then it’s good to analyze memory pattern for any possible memory leak.

There are tools like Profiler (JProbe, Yourkit, or Netbeans Profiler), JConsole, VisualVM, which you can use to see the memory usage of Java applications to confirm memory leaks.

There are even tools like Plumbr, which can help you to find memory leaks in Java. Though this would be as easy as increasing heap memory to fix java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space.

From Pixelmon Wiki

Jump to:navigation, search

One of the most common issues encountered when installing Pixelmon is Minecraft running out of memory. Pixelmon has many large assets such as models, textures, and sounds, that require significantly more memory to load compared to vanilla Minecraft and many other mods. Not having enough memory will generally cause Minecraft to crash or freeze while loading, though it can also manifest as persistent stutter.

Identifying the issue

Memory issues are not the only cause of Minecraft not loading, though the issues listed below are often related to insufficient allocated memory.

Crashing

The first part of a Minecraft crash report. The highlighted area indicates that Minecraft has run out of memory.

If Minecraft crashes when attempting to start up, it is possible that the crash is caused by running out of memory. To check whether this is the case, you will need to look at the crash report that is displayed after Minecraft crashes. The first line of the crash report after «Description» is the start of the actual crash. Look for any of the following lines:

  • «java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space»
  • «net.minecraftforge.fml.common.LoaderException: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space»
  • «Caused by: java.lang.IllegalAccessError: tried to access field net.minecraft.client.renderer.entity.RenderManager.field_178636_l from class com.pixelmonmod.pixelmon.client.ClientProxy»
  • «at net.minecraft.world.World.getSkyColorBody(World.java:1477)»

If the crash begins with any of these lines, then Minecraft is likely crashing because it ran out of memory.

Freezing

  • If Minecraft freezes on the loading screen, it is very likely that it has run out of memory. In particular, memory issues commonly cause the Forge loading screen to freeze while loading models and textures. (at the «Reloading — ModelManager» stage)
  • If Minecraft freezes at a regular interval and then unfreezes after, it is possible that Minecraft does not have enough memory to run smoothly.

Allocating more memory

The vanilla JVM arguments section, with the -Xmx2G argument underlined.

To improve performance and stability in a modded setup, more memory must be allocated to Minecraft. (at least 2GB)

Minecraft launcher

  1. In the vanilla Minecraft launcher, select the «Launch options» tab.
    • Make sure that the switch labeled «Advanced settings» is turned on!
  2. Find and click the Forge profile that you are using to play Pixelmon.
  3. Find the «JVM Arguments» text box, and then the text that reads -Xmx#M or -Xmx#G. Change this to -Xmx2G.

Technic launcher

  1. In the Technic launcher, click the gear icon with the «Launcher Options» label at the top right.
  2. Click into the «JAVA SETTINGS» tab.
  3. Click into the «Memory» box, and increase the allocation to at least 2GB.

AT Launcher

  1. In the AT Launcher, click «Settings» to the right.
  2. Click into the «Java/Minecraft» tab.
  3. Click into the «Maximum Memory/Ram» box, and increase the allocation to at least 2GB.

If you cannot increase memory above 1GB or the game now crashes, see this section.

Other problems

If Minecraft does not successfully start up after changing the allocation, there are several possible causes.

32 bit Java

You may be using a 32 bit Java version, which will not allow allocations higher than roughly 1GB. If you have a 64 bit version of Java installed, it’s still possible that Minecraft is using your 32 bit Java installation instead. A way to check the Java version being used by Minecraft is to examine the game output when it fails to start. If Minecraft is using a 32-bit Java version, the following message will be displayed:

Error occurred during initialization of VM
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: ignoring option MaxPermSize=128m; support was removed in 8.0
Could not reserve enough space for ###KB object heap

On the Technic launcher, you will not be able to allocate more than 1GB of RAM if you are using a 32-bit Java version. The AT Launcher will throw an error when being installed in a 32 bit environment.

You can download 64 bit installers for Java here. Make sure to choose a version that is labeled as 64 bit, as any unlabeled installers will still be 32 bit.

32 bit operating system

If you are using Windows and are unable to install a 64-bit Java version, it is possible that your operating system is 32 bit and cannot run 64 bit programs. Be warned that upgrading Windows from 32-bit to 64-bit is not a trivial task. If you are willing to upgrade, see one of the following links depending on the version of Windows you are using:

  • Windows 10
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 7

32 bit hardware

If you cannot upgrade to a 64 bit operating system, it is possible that your computer’s processor only supports 32 bit operation. In this case, you will need to get a new computer with a 64 bit processor.

Insufficient memory

The amount of memory installed on a Windows 7 machine. This system does not have enough memory to run Pixelmon.

If you’ve already installed a 64 bit Java version and are still getting the same errors as before, your computer may not have enough memory to run Pixelmon.

You can check the amount of memory installed on your system by right-clicking «Computer» (Windows 7/8) or «This PC» (Windows 10) and choosing «Properties». Look for the «Installed memory (RAM)» entry under «System». If there is 2GB or less installed, you will need to add more memory to your computer in order to run Pixelmon.

Should you want to buy and install more memory, the process is explained in detail here.

Global Java options

Windows systems may have specific settings set that will limit the amount of memory that can be allocated to a Java program. Frequently, this limit is less than 2GB of memory and will override any manually-defined JVM arguments, causing too little memory to be allocated to Minecraft.

To check if this limit is affecting you, look at the «System Details» section of the Minecraft crash report, find the line that starts with «JVM Flags», and look for -Xmx in this line. If you see multiple -Xmx arguments, including one that is not in the «JVM Arguments» text box in your Minecraft profile, the global Java limit is preventing you from allocating enough memory.

The following snippet is an example of the JVM flags that are displayed in a crash report when the global Java limit problem occurs. Notice that there is a user-defined -Xmx2G and an additional -Xmx512M that the user did not manually add.

JVM Flags: 5 total; ... -XX:MaxPermSize=128m -Xmx2G -Xms256M -Xmx512M

To remove this global limit, follow these steps:

  1. In File Explorer, right-click on «Computer» (Windows 7/8) or «This PC» (Windows 10) and choose «Properties».
  2. A window will open. In the sidebar on the left of this window, select «Advanced system settings».
  3. A «System Properties» window will open. Select the «Environment Variables» button at the bottom of this window.
  4. In the «Environment Variables» window, scroll through the list labeled «System variables» until you find a variable labeled _JAVA_OPTIONS.
  5. Select the _JAVA_OPTIONS entry and click «Delete» to remove it.
  6. Restart your computer.
  7. After Windows restarts, start up Minecraft to verify that it is now able to start successfully.
Help me please!! When I try to start the forge (forge1.12.2-14.23.5.2775) it gives this error:

    Ok I fixed it. I thought that installing and reinstalling Minecraft was sufficient, but I hadn’t deleted the /.minecraft folder. When I did that and THEN reinstalled, the game launched.

    Just a note for the event this happens again — you should never need to reinstall the game (I haven’t in 6+ years) unless the launcher itself is corrupted since it verifies the integrity of all files every time you launch the game (in fact, modded versions need to force the launcher to not download unmodified files by removing lines that tell it where to download files from — otherwise, if you try to modify the game it will just redownload a clean copy, same for libraries and assets).

    Usually, errors like this are either due to corrupted worlds, resource/data packs, or the options.txt file (these are all data files and are not verified by the launcher). options.txt, which stores game settings, is particularly notorious for causing all sort of issues, especially if you play on multiple versions (you should always run them in their own game directories), as indicated by the fact that it happened while the game was reading from a file («java.io.BufferedReader.readLine»).

  1. I’m running Windows 7, 64-bit, SP1.
    My Java Version is 1.6.0_26
    .. and the bukkit version is 953.

    Plugins enabled:
    AdminCmd
    Bandages
    Bookworm-1.7
    Citizens
    CraftBook
    CuboidPlugin
    EasyRules
    gravelclay1.3.1
    HeroicDeath
    HomeX
    iConomy
    Lockette
    McMmo
    MobArena
    NoWeather
    Permissions
    PlgSetspawn
    PlgWarp
    Prefixer
    StealthLogin
    StruckDown
    Superpowers
    supplysign
    WarpAllHere
    Whitelist
    WorldEdit
    WorldGuard

    I’ve tried increasing the amount of memory Java uses,
    and disabling a few plugins, as well as hosting on
    different computers.

    Here’s the error itself.

  2. I’ve had the same problem, but i minimised the plugins I use, I’m seeing a regular plugin popping up on all those who have the out of memory error, and thats people using WorldEdit, I myself had this, but when it updated to 1.7.2 thats when the problems started, I suggest moving your world folder, and all other folders apart from the plugins folder, then copy the plugins you need one by one, permissions, Iconomy and citizens work without any memory issues. Hope that helps so you can locate the sucker

  3. Its happening to me.. I run it 24/7, maybe the cache ran out?
    http://pastebin.com/mxA1kify

  4. You guys need more RAM. Try to increase the amount of RAM in the .bat file. Or delete some plugins.

  5. Hmm, exactly how do I increase the ram amount?

  6. Change it like this

    For 2GB [hold round 30 players depends on your plugins]
    java -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M -jar craftbukkit.jar nogui
    For 1GB use
    java -Xmx1048M -Xms1048M -jar craftbukkit.jar nogui

  7. ok so i have this problem too but when i try and change the ram size the server cant run..
    what do i do about that?

  8. First, you need to have an x64 OS with x64 Java installed to go above 1536M. If you have an x64 OS, use an x64 browser and go to java.com — download and install. If you don’t, you can’t go above 1536M (so set it at 1536M).

    If 1536M isn’t enough to get rid of that message, you need to take a serious look at which plugins you use, and which you can remove. The more plugins you have, the more RAM your server requires.

  9. 2011-07-11 19:03:51 [WARNING] Task of ‘Citizens’ generated an exception

    that is the error

  1. Откройте настройки лаунчера;
  2. Включите «Режим отладки (debug)»);
  3. Запустите игровой клиент (нажмите кнопку «В игру»);
  4. Просто ждите и следите за бегущими строками лога лаунчера;

  1. Пролистайте данную тему вниз, возможно здесь есть решение вашей проблемы;

  1. Удалите ВСЕ версии Java со своего ПК;
  2. Установите JAVA x64 (ссылка);

Screenshot_6.png

  • java.lang.

  • Could not reserve enough space for 1572864KB object heap —

  • ########## GL ERROR ########## @
  • Post render 1286: Invalid framebuffer operation Stopping!

Screenshot_5.png

  1. Удалите все версии java с помощью специальной утилиты удаления;
  2. Установите Java 8 x64 с нашего сайта;

GamePoint.jar

Windows SmartScreen

1620419531395.png

  1. Удалите все версии java с помощью специальной утилиты удаления;
  2. Установите Java 8 x64 с нашего сайта;

  1. Удалите все версии java с помощью специальной утилиты удаления;
  2. Установите Java 8 x64 с нашего сайта;

Bad videocard drivers / Pixel format not accelerated

  • NVIDIA
  • AMD
  • Intel (Intel HD Graphics)

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

  • unable to create new native thread — в вашей системе закончились ресурсы (ОЗУ).

java.net.

java.net.SocketTimeOutException: Read timed out
