Of course he is missing some file !!
the mod-vroot module is no longer provided on debian and the tutorial keeps asking to install this file.
Either you update the tutorials to reflect how to properly configure proftpd on debian or you delete the entry, because, as it is now, there is no way to make it work.

Disable SFTP in Proftpd Centos7
-
Recently I have noticed by default Proftpd is enabled with SFTP module and we are not able to access the server over ftp protocol. This is the default case of Proftpd install from centos repository and a server comes with webmin on Centos7. For Disable SFTP in Proftpd Centos7 or newer version centos 8, refer below steps.
I have faced below issues to successfully start and use the proftpd service on recently installed virtualmin server. Its welcome to use the steps I have followed as a trick or tip.
- Firstly try to start the proftpd service from webmin.
- Service got failed to start with below message.
- Issue below command in ssh shell access for getting details about error.
- But in our case above command result recommend to use below command to get details about error.
- So we can see error as
As far as I know error is because the file “/etc/ssh/ssh_host_rsa_key’ is group readable and its some kind of bug in new Centos7 ssh package.
- Issued below command and tried to start the service again but it got failed again with below error.
- I went to opened file /etc/proftpd.conf using vi editor and commended below lines and successfully started proftpd service.
- At this moment if we try to connect to the server over default ftp port 21. We will get the “Could not connect to server error”
- This is because by default the proftpd port listening is “2222”and only allow “sftp” protocol access.
- In such cases we have to use below settings in order to connect to the server over filezilla.
- Now if we would like to disable sftp in the proftpd and allow ftp access, commend out below lines in the configuration file “/etc/proftpd.conf ” and restart proftpd service. It will allow us to connect to the server over ftp port 21.
This concludes the SFTP disable in proftpd ftp service. Leave your thoughts at the comment box.

Here are your error lines:
Code:
Jul 19 15:38:06 srv1 proftpd[23245]: 2021-07-19 15:38:06,976 srv1.xxxxx.org proftpd[23245]: mod_tls/2.9: certificate '/etc/exim.cert': expected RSA certificate, found EC

So, it seems like you need to replace your certificate and the configuration of /etc/proftpd.conf has a line that is broken

For everyone looking for solutions: I’ve commented the line which says ‘IdentLookups’, for me it was line 74.

for the second one, libojc4 it is currently installed in version 8.3.0-6 and upgradable to 10.2.1-6 amd64…
there was no new version between the 8.3 and 10.2 ??? answer there was : stable 9.3.0-22 amd64…
so why this one never been upgraded and 8.3 still installed and not upgradable ???

ProFTPD Unit not found
12-04-2017, 03:55 PM
I installed CentOS Linux release 7.4.1708 (AltArch) today and then I installed sentora using following command
Code:
yum -y update
wget sentora.org/install
chmod +x install
./install
from https://www.rosehosting.com/blog/install…-centos-7/
during installation I got following message
Code:
-- Installing ProFTPD
Error: Nothing to do
Failed to execute operation: No such file or directory
Failed to start proftpd.service: Unit not found.
Now Proftpd is not installed and I am not able to access files through ftp. I repeated the process few times but same same problem occurs every time
Please help

ProFTPD is installed when Sentora is installed. One suggestion is to make sure that it is not installed before trying to install Sentora.
Me.B any other suggestions?

Are using centos server or desktop.
I’m talking about this edition:
http://isoredirect.centos.org/centos/7/i…l-1708.iso
We never test the others.

I’m sure you are not using the standard iso. Also centos 7.10 doesn’t existe the latest currently is 7.4.

Hi, I’m also experiencing the same problem with them, my Proftpd was not installed with sentora on centos 7.3 , I tried the manual reinstall Proftpd but after installation it can not work due to missing mod_sql_mysql. c. I’ve been working on fixing things, I’ve reinstalled the OS many times even installed on centos 7.0 but proftpd is not installed, i think current version 1.0.3 not ready for release . Please help me!
