Nvidia inspector net framework error

2 votes and 11 comments so far on Reddit

Help please.. I changed my GPU from RTX2060S (went into my brothers computer for Christmas) and have a GTX1060 3g while waiting for RTX3080. Now my Nvidia Profile Inspector gets this error:

«Unhandled exception has occurred in your application.»

«Index and lenght must refer to a location within the string.Parameter name: lenght.»

I have reinstalled driver with DDU, tried older drivers, updated NET Framework.. Turned off AntiVirus.. Nothing works :( Next step is to reinstall Windows 10 from scratch. Can anyone please help? I can’t figure this one out and it annoys me. I have to set Frame Rate Limiter Mode to Allow_all_maxwell for csgo.exe. Thanks alot for all help!

Here are the details:

See the end of this message for details on invoking

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

application or computer (machine.config) must have the

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

On downloading the latest version (1.9.7.2) of the inspector, I’m finding myself unable to open up the configuration menu.
I’m running it as admin obviously, but when I click the button, I get this Unhandled Exception error:

I’m currently using a GeForce GTX 650 Ti, with the 335.23 WHQL driver.
I would greatly appreciate any help that I could get.

  2. Hmm, try update/reinstall .net?

Right now I do have .net framework 3.5, 4 Multi-targeting pack, and 4.5.1.
Should I get rid of the old versions and just go with 4.5.1, or what? Trying to repair 4.5.1 at the moment to see if that works.

EDIT: Apparently I shouldn’t get rid of old versions. Currently reinstalling to try that.

  4. It is using .net 2.0, so you should reinstall that one.

Thank you. Also a bit of an update on my issue.

Apparently uninstalling and reinstalling the .net framework has turned into an epic quest of trying to figure out why version 3.5 won’t install through the download on Microsoft or on Windows Update. I’m halfway tempted to bring out my OS disk and repair it from there, but I’m determined to figure out what the heck’s going on.

  6. Because it is installed by Windows 7 itself, if you are using Windows 7.

For Windows 8/8.1, the .net 2.0-3.5 can be installed by just enable it in Windows Feature, and it can be fixed by running the SFC /scannow.

You may want to try SFC /scannow, or just un-tick the .net in Windows Feature, reboot, then tick it back to reinstall. :)

  7. Also 8/8.1 is smart enough to detect when an application needs a certain version, and should pause the application and prompt you to install the version you need automatically. Worked that way for me when I launched Inspector on Windows 8.1.

  8. Yup, this is right, anything in the Programs Feature that need to be enabled will be detected by OS, when running program that need it.

Currently using Vista on my home machine, so yeah. I’ve already tried sfc /scannow a few times to no avail.
Also, every time I try to install framework 3.5 from Windows update, it hits me with a WindowsUpdate_00000643 error.

  10. You just need to Google «windows update 00000643», then you will found the solution.

On the first answer, it says to use Windows Fix-It, which also throws up an error, exits, and gives me a DIAG_MATS_NETWORK_global.DiagCab file I don’t exactly know what to do with.

  12. Strange…

That’s the site I tried, and Windows Installer Cleanup Tool doesn’t see .net 3.5 anywhere.

  14. I forgot you are Windows 7 ;P

Anyways, Method 2 don’t works too?
How about untick .net and tick it back at the Windows Feature?

  15. Try this:
    1. Run the downloaded dotnet35setup.exe to install .NET Framework 3.5.

    2. Reboot your machine.

    3. Now run Windows Update again, to install post SP1 hotfixes.

    OR

    1. Run dotnet35setup.exe to install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.

    2. Reboot your computer again.

    3. Now run Windows Update again, to install post SP1 hotfixes.

    Useful links:

What happened to the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (MSICUU2.exe)?

    Hope these help!

Okay, good news bad news update.

Good news: I managed to get .Net Framework 3.5 reinstalled! Just had to delete the Vista SP1 update, and run the Upgrade option from the CD. All my files are still in place, too.
Bad news: Nothing changed, an error keeps coming up in the Inspector.

Okay, sorry for neglecting this thread for so long.

But for some reason, when I started it up today to see if some time away from the problem would work, it actually went to the profile config screen with no problems or errors.

I wish I could say what changed with Windows Update or anything in the .NET install/uninstallation I’ve been doing, but hey it works now.

Sorry I can’t provide a more detailed answer.

This is very annoying… Doesn’t seem to be anyone else with the issue… Any ideas on how to resolve?

That just means that the program ran into an issue it wasn’t expecting.
So, the fix is to wait for them to update the program, or for you to revert the newer drivers to something older.

Makes sense in the context of the little I could find out there about it… Others who had the issue were programmers who got that same errors on their programs.

That said, I am using the latest nvidia drivers but one would think there would be thousands? of others with the issue who are using NV inspector.

I’d really love to be able to tweak with it… It appears the last version was released about 1 year ago so I’m not terribly hopeful this will be fixed anytime soon. I was also wondering if something on my machine (or lack thereof) was causing the issue…

What version of Inspector are you running?

358.91 drivers here, 64-bit Windows 10 (latest 10586 Update), and Inspector 1.9.6.3; the application launches fine.

Ok, i give it a shot: Why don’t you try to update your current version of the MS .NET Framework, of which mscorlib is a part of. I believe the newest version supported by Windows XP (if you are really still using it) is 4.0. Just search the mircosoft.com homepage for the redistributable setup.

OP: is the build in question the one in your signature? The latest supported drivers for Windows XP for that hardware is 307.83, either 32 or 64 bit. Is this what you mean by the «latest» drivers in this context?

First, thanks for helping!

My sig rig is ancient… Sorry for misleading. I need to update it with my new machine specs that I just completed building (the one I have the problem with): 4770k, 970 GTX FTW+, a few SSDs, Win 7 64bit, etc…

Vid driver is 358.50
NV inspector is 1.9.7.3 posted on Guru3D, etc…

I verified that on 28Oct, I must have installed Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 because it shows up in «uninstall programs» (though I don’t specifically recall doing so) — maybe a Win update?… I then downloaded a «repair» for 4.5.2 (and it really looked like it was doing something as it loaded). But alas, I still get the same issue.

Sorry, using Win7 64bit; sig is old rig.

What version of Inspector are you running?

NV inspector is 1.9.7.3 posted on Guru3D, etc…

358.91 drivers here, 64-bit Windows 10 (latest 10586 Update), and Inspector 1.9.6.3; the application launches fine.

Oh, to be you… This is a rather elusive, irritating issue.

Eureka! It worked!!!!

I noticed the .NET 4.5.2 installed 28Oct was only 38MB as reported by Control Panel/Uninstall Programs. This did not match the download size on the MS website (68MB).

So… I set a restore point and uninstalled it. Then downloaded a fresh copy of the 68MB .NET 4.5.2 (latest) and installed it, rebooted and now Nvidia Inspector opens!!!

Okay, again… Thanks to all who helped out. I should have been a bit more tenacious in solving this one as it wasn’t «too hard»… Wondering how I got a corrupt in stall of 4.5.2 though that read like a real install in the control panel… And then did a «repair» to fix it but to no avail. I had some issues earlier on getting Win Updates installed so this looks like it may have been related to that.

I did make an offer and a deal is a deal so… If you think YOU were the one that helped me then send a PM and we can Paypal or something… There appears to be one person that «got the closest»…

Thanks again all.

Hey, nice to hear that it was indeed .NET.
Seriously, keep your cash, it was my pleasure :)

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging=»true» />
</configuration>

При включенной отладке JIT любое необрабатываемое исключение
пересылается отладчику JIT, зарегистрированному на данном компьютере,
