GE 9.0.2 is crashed while i was editing one of my vehicles. and now will not load that i3d file. log file is only recording that the file is being opened but not giving any information on why the file is causing the crash. seems to open other i3d files ok still.
the i3d file looks ok in an editor. and the nodes/shapes/transform groups i was editing at the time seem intact.
A little pi** as lot of effort into that and while i saved often, i didn’t save with a new file name every time. no actually really pi**.

My Giants Editor keeps crashing when i load map files and when i load a car file i see blue and yellow lines no physical truck, i have updated to the latest version and it still crashes i have re tried several times.. Nothing, please help me find a solution it worked once and that’s it
Ps. Is there any way i can buy giants editor

which one is the last Update that you installed of FS17 Patch . and the Version of Giants Editor is.
Which Mod or Map you like to open, you first have to Unpack the Mod.
It should be a normal Folder.
A mod as ZIP File is not the best for Modding or change something in this mod.
You have to Unpack, than you can open the i3d File with GE.
For FS17 with Patch 1.4.4.0 you need the last GE 7.1.0 from the Giants Developer NEtwork, see Link in first post.

@Biohaz98: the log.txt you’ve posted is from the game and not from Giants Editor. Please check the directory where GE is installed. there should be a log.txt somewhere as well.
But looking at that log.txt you posted, you seriously need to clean up your mods folder, since there are many call-stacks (which are the worst kind of errors you can get), errors and warnings. I would recommend to start by completely emptying the mods folder and then moving the mods back one by one, and after installing each mod to test it on a new career on one of the two standard maps.
Regarding modifications of a map with GE, maybe it helps to have a look at the video tutorials and reading trough the book about modding: viewtopic.php?f=897&t=116618&hilit=dummies#p907153

Hi!
Ich habe mit meinem GE neuerdings Probleme, Gebäude zu öffnen. Nicht bei allen, nicht grundsätzlich, aber gefühlt immer häufiger. Bei Maps tritt das bisher nicht auf.
Das sind einerseits runtergeladene Gebäude, andererseits welche, die ich grad erst mit dem selben GE aus Maps exportiert hab. In den i3ds steht über all «Exported wih GE 6.0.3», liegt also nicht an veralteten Objekten. Es kommt auch vor, dass ich ein Gebäude grad erst im GE geöffnet hatte, schließe ohne zu speichern und wieder öffnen will und den Fehler bekomme. Wenn ich einfach auf die i3d klicke, öffnet sich der GE, zeigt mir ein schwarzes Fenster und darüber die Meldung «Error while loading i3d flie» oder so ähnlich.
Ich nutze den GE 6.0.3 64bit. Hab ihn neu runtergeladen und installiert und habs auch mit der 32bit Version versucht. Manchmal gehts, manchmal nicht. So kann ich nicht arbeiten.
Was kann ich noch tun?
Die editor_log zeigt nach dem Error nichts an außer den normalen Kopf. Kein Wort zum Error. Auch im Scriptingfenster nicht.
Seit LS08 dabei!

Da du ja schon eine Weile im Geschäft bist möchte ich dir nicht unterstellen das du die Objekte in irgendeinem Verzeichnis geöffnet hast, sondern schon in einem Ordner der auf dem desktop liegt.
Im anderen Fall kann es leider vorkommen das bei Windows der eine oder andere Ordnerbereich nicht mit allen nötigen Schreiubrechten ausgestattet ist. Selbst als Admin auf dem System, kann man nicht in alle Verzeichnisse schreiben.
Bisher hat das löschen der CacheDateien für den GE in vielen Fällen geholfen.
Vielleicht ja auch bei dir.

Ich habe unter AppData/Local/GE die Shadercachedatei gelöscht. Allerdings ohne Ergebnis. Gibt es außer dem Ordner unter Appdata/Local und dem eigentlichen Programmordner unter C:/Programme noch einen Ort, an dem Dateien des GE abgelegt sind?
Dein Hinweis zu den Benutzerrechten hat allerdings eine, wenn auch noch unbefriedigene Lösung gebracht. Danke dafür, das bringt uns immerhin auf das Problem. Ich habe bisher folgendes getan:
— allen Benutzern des Systems Vollzugriff auf die entsprechenden Ordner der externen Festplatte gegeben (Dass das nicht gegeben war, hat mich überrascht). Objekt lässt sich weiter nicht öffnen
Was hat bisher funktioniert?
— Den Ordner der Objekt.i3d inkl. Texturdateien auf den Desktop verschieben. -> Objekt lässt sich per Doppelklick öffnen.
— Den GE öffnen und über «File->Open» das besagte Objekt von der externen Festplatte öffnen. -> Funktioniert einwandfrei
Was noch funktionieren soll (und bisher immer funktionierte. ):
— Objekt.i3d von der externen Festplatte per Doppelklick öffnen
— lästige Meldung «Möchten Sie zulassen, dass ein Programm Veränderungen vornimmt?» (wegen Administratorrechten) möglichst vermeiden. Ist extrem unpraktikabel im Arbeiten!
Ich hab nicht den blassesten Schimmer, wieso die Rechteverwaltung von Windoof plötzlich rumspackt! Hatte nie Probleme. Übrigens bringt es auch nichts, in der Benutzerkontensteuerung die Einstellung auf «Nie benachrichtigen» zu stellen. Es gibt zwar keine Meldung beim GE Start mehr, aber erstens ist das sicherheitstechnisch Mist und zweitens gibts trotzdem ein «Error while loading i3d file».

Hey there FS19 and Giants Fans and Developers,
We’re enjoying both fs19 and fs22 very much.
My 6-year old Spencer and I(Daddy) are trying hard to get to play with dirt and sand in both fs22. Unfortunately it’s not so straight forward.

We downloaded the latest version of Giants editor and tried to open Geiselsber.i3d and it crashed. We re-installed Giants Editor rebooted and tried to open it again unmodified and it crashed yet again.
PS we also installed some stuff for dirt/sand in FS22. There is a gravel plant where we can dump rocks, but we haven’t figured out how to activate/run the rock crusher after dumping the rocks. The rocks just stay there where the lit up zone is.
Please any pointers to make the editor run successfully? Thank you in advance.
If the .i3d file is packed in a zip file, the editor will not run it. You need to unpack the zip file, with directory structure intact, then load the .i3d file in the editor. Once you have made your changes and saved, re-pack the files back into the zip file.
If your file is already unzipped, then I don’t have an answer for you. 🙂

Mh. Verstehe wer will…
Da das Problem nur bei i3d-Dateien aus einem Ordner auftrat, habe ich jetzt parallel einen neuen erstellt und die Gebäude einfach dorthin rübergeschoben. Jetzt hab ich keine Probleme mehr. Administratorstart nutze ich daher auch nicht mehr, ergo keine lästige Meldung.
Was für ein Mist, mit dem man sich so rumschlägt…

Я сильно ошибся. Подобный вопрос был по 1.7.1, что меня и сбило, а сейчас я поленился посмотреть номер версии.
И да, к стати, на официальном сайте версии 1.8. нет (спасибо Antonio Banderas10). Есть только на сайтах распространителях модов (не мододелов). Вы уверены, что это съедобно?

эту проблему можно решить путем слияния файлов в папке с игрой и файлами гиантс эдитора, ярлык на запуск эдитора будет в папке х64, (делать на копии игры, так как сама игра после такого просто сломается). Вобщем запустил прогу даже открыл карту, начал редактировать все норм все работает, сохранил свой вариант, закинул в рабочую игру, запустил а игра выплевывается при выборе моей карты с этой же ошибкой, даже если я легонько поровняю бугорок на карте она сразу же перестает быть работоспособной будто там стоят какие то защитные коды… че делать дальше ? все пробовал что мог пока безрезультатно, такое ощущение что эдитор сырой и не доработанный или есть проблемы с совместимостью…

Please Help i’m having troubles with getting my mod into GE 6.0.3
I first started out with a model in google sketchup, then scaled it down to .008 for GE. Then I exported it as a collada or .dae file to my desktop. After that I opened blender and imported my collada or .dae file and it shows up perfectly. I then exported it using the provided GE blender .i3d exporter plugin and put it into the folder with the textures. I opened the .i3d file in notepad++ to check if there were any assets in the texture files, pleased to see there wasn’t. I named the .i3d file and went the open it. As soon as I opened it GE immediately crashes.
Someone please help this is my first mod and a pretty unique one I say so for myself.

Chances are since the model came from sketchup and will be very high poly, your system may not be able to handle it. The log text will tell more.

I agree with JohnDeere1952 about the poly counts. However, you might «Try» to triple all polys and see if that gets it to work. it’s definitely not optimal, you should hunt down the offending meshes (polygons) and fix them individually, but it might work to test the theory.
As always, back up your work before you make changes.

Should be changed to look like this
<File fileId=»1″ filename=»texture/trim.dds» relativePath=»true» />
This way GE can find the texture path. If your texture is in same folder as the i3dit would like <File fileId=»1″ filename=»trim.dds» relativePath=»true» />
if your texture is in a separate subfolder it would look like this <File fileId=»1″ filename=»texture/trim.dds» relativePath=»true» />
Also each texture needs a separate and distinct file number, if in doubt use a high number such as File file Id=»9000″ Ge will change the index path number when you save. Do not use a_ after a / mark. In your case you have a double__ after boat

Ok so I got the textures fixed and all the mod shows up ingame. My only issue now is I cant get a collision on it and it spawns without wheels. Sorry i’m asking alot of questions, this is my first mod attempt and im pretty pleased with myself so far lol. Thanks

I usually myself start with an empty cube that the length and width are close to my model. I make it invisable and non renderable. Make it dynamic with a rigid body and collision.Then cut and paste your parts to it , making them static with no collision and no rigid body. If you have parts that require a collision make them static and compound child.

Okay when I got to cut and paste the models scale goes so much bigger than it was, even on 0.1 the scale is way to big.

When in blender with your cursor on main screen hit left control +A and and a little window will pop up with location rotation scale etc. Choose the one you want and left click on it. This will set the scale at 1 1 and 1 while keeping your dimensions location and rotation.

I make a transform group for each wheel and paste the wheel into the transform group. Now when you go to position your wheel be sure yo move the transform group,NOT THE WHEEL. The wheel must stay at 0 0 0 in the transform group.Be sure to copy your index for each wheel not the transform group and place it in your xml file.

Look at your wheels in blender in metric. find their radius size and divide by approx half and enter that in radius just to the right of your index path. Your wheel radius in your xml is too big it looks like.

Attached is a photo of selecting your wheel dimensions. You will notice that the Y and Z dimensions are 52.581 cm. In the photo I posted earlier with the wheel area in the xml you will see that I made my radius 1/2 of the wheel y and z dimension. That should fix the floating issue, if not then you may not have set the x y and z scale to 1 by clicking left control + a while cursor is in your work area screen.
