Trouble with Samsung SCX-8123 printer (not working)

Hey everyone, I purchased a Samsung SCX-8123 Printer about a year and a half ago for my business and had no problems until about a month ago. My computer was really old and slow so I upgraded to a new computer that had Windows 8 about a month ago. I’m pretty knowledgable about computers, used to build my own and usually setup a lot of stuff myself. Anyways, ever since I switched to this new PC I’ve been having problems. I have an protection policy through the vendor I bought it through but it only covers hardware and not software, therefore they are useless. In any case it should be as simple as installing the drivers and that’s it.

I installed the drivers that were on the install disc that came with the printer. When I do this, the printer prints an error page about every 10 to 15 minutes saying:

PCL6 ERROR — Incomplete Session by time out
POSITION : 0x13ff9 (81913)
SYSTEM : ../XLPGP/os_hook
LINE : 3639
VERSION : PCL6 7.37.01 05-07-2012
ERROR CODE : 11-1312

I suspected that the version could be too old for Win 8 so I went on the site and installed a newer driver. At that point the endless printing of error sheets stopped but I kept getting an error at the top right saying the printer is in an error state every time I tried to print. I’ve managed to print a couple new things, but I’m stumped.

Lastly, Samsung website is terrible, the Windows 8 driver page was unavailable and now they changed it and you can download .gz files only which are not exe files. It’s a pain to deal with.

I’m just wondering if I’m missing something I really need this printer to work and it’s really frustrating. I’m pretty close to going and buying a copy of Win 7 and reinstalling everything.

I should also add that it’s connected to a router. A couple weeks after the computer was installed I’m now remember we upgraded to AT&T Uverse from slow DSL. they added a router with built in wireless and thinking it could be a communication issue between printer and computer. I don’t know.

I previously had the printer connected to my own Cisco router as with DSL I didn’t have an AT&T router. Now, I have two wireless routers and each has 4 ports. I tried switching the printer to the AT&T provided port but then it showed it was not connected so I put it back where it was.

I can’t figure out if this is a driver issue or networking issue. Maybe I should just connect it via USB and forget about it. But then I can’t print from laptop.

Sometimes it prints sometimes it doesn’t I printed something about 30 min ago and the error messages kept printing out but then I shut down and restarted the printer and after being for about 5 min the 21 pages printed. It seems like the data transfer between the two is really slow. But this still shouldn’t cause an error should it?

I am facing an issue with my printer via WiFi.

everytime I try to print, I just get:

Version: SPL-C 5.87 09-22-2014

Incomplete sesssion by time out

Printer is on latest firmware (if you tell me how to read it out i can tell you which one it is)

Printer driver is on latest firmware according to HP/Samsung (this is the one from the official homepage 06/21/2006 .. Version 10.0.19041.1)

Windows is Win10 64 bit

From your description I suggest ensuring that the latest firmware is installed indeed, the latest version is 4.00.04.05 from November 2016.

Is the printer connected with any cable to a computer or your router or wirelessly?

Are you able to access the printer menu to print any report in order to verify this?

yes, the actual firmware is the lastest version found in the official HP page:

Via USB I can print, scan, ect without any issue; totally as it should be.

USB-Port is the same (USB Stick on the connector next to the paper outlet)

only WiFi does not work

(all for the exactly same file)

WiFi was tested on different clients already; WiFi simply does not work and always results in 11-1112

For WiFi we are using FRITZ!Box 7530 with fixed IP and 2.4GHz and DHCP

Settings: n/Wi-Fi 4, 20 MHz, WPA2, 1 x 1

I can also access it via the IP address (SyncThruTM WebSevice is opened then)

I can login via «admin» and the default «sec00000» and play with the settings.

I just tried to print from an Android mobile; thats another error . any Idea ?

My Work Center 3315 printed my the error-page with message below:

«PCL6 ERROR — incomplete session by time out

POSITION : 0xa67a (42618)

After that printer stops printing at all.

Could you comment each lines of this message and explain how to fix this issue.

The driver (PCL6 for 3315) was downloaded from xerox support web-site. And there is no print-server in the net, so I’m not sure LPR-mode will work correctly. Could you explain how to configure LPR (» queue name» and others).

You would be better off in most circumstances with PCL over PCL6, but I wouldn’t consider either unless for some reason the PS driver wasn’t working.

Story:
I have b215 for 4 weeks, on did face many issues so far.(like : not starting printing any jobs until laptop restart; gibberish symbols printed even from direct webinterface upload pdf (so skipping spooler and system I assume); and also this)

It doesn’t occur everytime, but amount of issues I face for past month is overwhelming.

Connected through wifi, router 0.5m from printer, 0.5m further there’s laptop.

It occured even today — with latest (today checked wupdate, so hopefully after the dread May’s update printer issue) win10 system, latest firmware on printer (88.000.60.000), latest drivers from website.

* (was default) RAW + snmp

* and LPR without snmp and lpr byte counting

Today switched form PCL6 to SPL, will see tomorrow if it occurs again. (I don’t have high hopes about that, but maybe at least error switches from pcl6 error to spl error 🙂

If it does occur I yet plan to check directly using usb cable, but that’s last thing that comes into my mind with this device.

The problem maybe occurs more if I print something, not to anything for like an hour or so, and then try to print again. ?

I’m lost what else can I do.

* Any ideas ?
* Is there some extended debug log to look for issues ? (either windows, or printer?)
* Is this «timeout» somehow controlled in settings? (I only Properties->Security-System timeout, but that doesn’t seems related? I increased it to 10 mins.. didn’t help, should set in hours?)

* is there any certain way to determine is this a driver issue, system (as in windows) issue, or printer issue?
Didn’t yet have the chance to try different device connected to the same driver with wifi, nor different printer to same laptop, that’s on my list.

* any chance it’s related to router or something ?

I really need reliable printer, and can’t go through «restart printer, router & laptop» routine each time I want to print something. maybe I misconfigured something I don’t know..

I keep on getting an error message every time I want to print, printer prints many pages with garbled symbols. I understand that you receive an error while printing.
It appears that the printer driver is corrupted or you were having an old printer and the drivers might be conflicting. You have to uninstall and reinstall the driver for Samsing printer as well as make sure uninstall th eold printer driver (if any). Also, check for the USB drivers as it may not be compatble with Samsung drivers.

SPL-C ERROR with Samsung CLX-3160 FN when printing from iMac

This can be fixed by stretching out a solenoid spring on the power cord side of the printer. The solenoid acts as a clutch to stop the spinning developer actuator at the right spot. The picture below is from a Samsung CLP-300 but these both use the same Imaging Unit so this should work. It’s just a little more involved taking off the top scanner / buttonpad off the CLX-3160.

Open up the right side (power cord side) of the printer (take off top cover, then take off side cover). Then, find a solenoid (little metal square) that touches the white plastic vertical spur gear. Take the spring off the solenoid. Now, put the spring back on — only this time you will attach one anchor point to the middle of the spring as to pre-stretch the spring for more tension.

The problem is that the spring gets weak over time / the cogs round out over time and the solenoid finger is overcome by the spinning cogs, and resulting in selecting the wrong developer.

In my samsung 315 both of the green lights are blinking at the same time. it won’t print any document. I have check the manuel but cant seem to see what they mean blinking in combination. Toner LEDs are.

In my samsung 315 both of the green lights are blinking at the same time. it won’t print any document. I have check the manuel but cant seem to see what they mean blinking in combination. Toner LEDs are.

Не знаю че делать.. . я слышал что это из-за краски или шнура.. . но краска есть.. . еще 82%. а шнур мне советывали экранированный ставить.. . и по дороже.. . а на сколько я знаю.. . что экранированный USB, что обычный.. . скорость передачи не меняется. и от цен тут точно не зависит.. .

Помогите пожалуйста.. . СРОЧНО НАДО ОТПРАВЛЯТЬ ДОКУМЕНТЫ.
