PostgreSQL Install Problem

I am having trouble installing PostgreSQL on my machine. My computer has Vista operating system, and I have disabled UAC, and have no anti-virus or firewalls turned on. I have made sure that windows script enabling or whatever it is called is available. Any help would be much appreciated.

Here is the error logging:

I would like to apologize for the issues you are having with HM2, Holdem Manager has a built in installer in the setup program available from http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloa. er_2_Setup.exe

If you have issues with this installer please try the following before installing:
1) Go to start > programs > accessories > click on command prompt
(If your using Vista or Windows 7 and have UAC enabled you’ll need to do the following before clicking on command prompt: right-click on command prompt and chose run as administrator)
2) In the dos window that appears type the following and press return:
net user postgres /delete

Please note if you get an error at this point and report it to us. Then proceed with the installation. If you receive any errors during installation please take a screenshot of the error and send to us.

Alternatively you repeat steps 1 and 2 above and then install the versions below and see if they work and also note any errors you receive during installation:
PostgreSQL 9.0, 8.4 or 8.3 — Download PostgreSQL | EnterpriseDB
PostgreSQL 8.2 — http://wwwmaster.postgresql.org/down. l-8.2.21-1.zip

We welcome any feedback on any solutions we provide, this helps us to provide better quality solutions in the future.

Thanks
Holdem Manager Support

Thank you for your help. I tried your suggestion and typed «net user postgres /delete» in the command prompt, but received a message that said «the user name could not be found». Do you have any other suggestions for me? Do you need any more information from me?

Turn on the secondary Logon. The secondary logon service is a standard windows service which is available on every windows computer. In the latest versions it is not started automatically. You need to start it via control panel > administrative tools > services. Starting it once should insure it works in the future also.

Thank you for your help. The secondary Logon was already turned on, so that is not the problem.

I tried using the installer you provided, but ran into a problem. The message I received is:

Error reading from file
C:UserRobAppDataLocalTempTemp1_postgresql-8.2.22.1.zippostgresql-8.2-int.msi.
Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

Now, when I look through my files, that file path seems to be incorrect. There is no «AppData» under «Rob». There is an «AppData» foler, but it is under «Users», and there is only one folder in the «AppData» folder, called «LocalLow», but the only file in it is unrelated to PostgreSQL.

Any thoughts on this?

Uninstall PostgreSQL & try the following steps:

1) Run cmd.exe as Admin (Start > Search ‘cmd’ > Right-Click > Run As Admin)
2) in CMD window run (type the code then hit Enter key) following command:
net user postgres /del
3) Reboot PC
4) after reboot open cmd.exe again & run following commands:

When it asks about password please input postgrespass & don`t worry if you don`t see any new symbolsinputs in cmd window. If you did all steps right then you should get new cmd window for postgres user.

If you have Win7 (or Vista), consider the following:

1) PC name must be in English and «in one word» — requires reboot after changing.

2) The same for Windows user name. If not — create new Win user with EN name and reboot PC for this user when install Postgres. And he must have admin rights. After installation you can kill this new user — his mission is completed.
This means: if you have Russian (or French, or else) Windows — your PC name possibly contains «non-english» letters.
Like «Вася-PC» or «Rene-PC»
The same with windows username. Or spaces in the name.
Postgres doesn’t like that — and won’t run as a result of it.

3) Secondary logon service must be set to «Autostart».
This is a standard windows service which is available on every windows computer. In the latest versions it is not started automatically. You need to start it via control panel > administrative tools > services.

5) Disable firewall and antivirus when installing Postgres and HM. Or uninstall them at all.

6) All installations must run «as admin» (by right-click on file). And do them as first thing after PC reboot.

7) If you want to change install path for Postgres (or to set non-default folder for database cluster) — download «standalone» installation file from Download PostgreSQL | EnterpriseDB

8) If your Windows is not in English — you have to install Postgres not in default folder in Program_Files. Create new (example: c:postgresql) first and select it when install.

9) Install Postgres and HM separarelly, one after one. As admin. If HM (when runs for the 1st time) says «no database» — simply create it via DBControlpanel.

10) If Postgres install fails — after uninstalling don’t forget to kill windows user named «postgres»:
Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt > Right-Click > Run As Administrator
In the window that appears please type the following and press enter:
net user postgres /del
exactly as shown. You should get a confirmation if it was successful.

11) Run all pokerclients «as admin».

12) Finally, if you use the automatic combo install in Holdem Manager to install HM and PostgreSQL together. If you run into the problem, password «postgrespass» does not comply with domain password requirements. Please manually install PostgreSQL and enter another password to make it work. WHAT CAN I DO ?

Hi, I’ve been trying to install postgrSQL all day unsuccessfully. I’m running a Windows 10 (64bit) and I keep trying different solutions I find through Google and nothing is working. Here is a log. I uninstalled my anti-virus and turned off firewall. Any help is greatly appreciated.

P.S. is there a place where I can buy remote support for this? Have them fix it remotely?

Thanks.

It complained that there are no files and directory. so I checked if my postgresql running.

root@ip_address:/# systemctl status postgresql

Mar 08 16:19:24 vps584959 systemd[1]: Started PostgreSQL RDBMS.

It was running. but, if I check postgresql cluster.

root@ip_address:/# pg_lsclusters
Ver Cluster Port Status Owner Data directory Log file
10 main 5432 down postgres /var/lib/postgresql/10/main /var/log/postgresql/postgresql-10-main.log

It was DOWN

so I tried

root@ip_address:/# pg_ctlcluster 10 main start
Error: Config owner (deploy:1003) and data owner (postgres:114) do not match, and config owner is not root

I wasn’t able to make it work. then I tried.

sudo chown -R deploy:postgres /var/lib/postgresql/10/ && sudo chmod -R u=rwX,go= /var/lib/postgresql/10/

try again.

root@ip_address:/# pg_ctlcluster 10 main start
