for those having the issue of�?REDScript compilation failed. The game will start but none of the scripts will take effect. This is caused by and I/O error: Access denied. (os error 5). Doing BOTH of these things fixed it for me. «Another common issue is that the ‘Cyberpunk 2077r6cachefinal.redscripts’ file gets marked as read-only. Make sure it’s not read-only on your filesystem, otherwise redscript won’t be able to compile the scripts.» AND «setting�engine/tools/ssc.exe» thank you to kesis who recommended the second fix

For some reason my system won’t let me unmark redscript as read only, I unmark it, apply and check again and its checked off again

For the REDScript compilation failed message I have a very simple solution that I found myself. I uninstalled Cyberpunk completely, removed all mods, reinstalled Cyberpunk. And started once without mods. Now I have installed my mods and have no more error message! Yay :)

NOTE FOR REDMOD USERS
Starting from redscript 0.5.6, redscript supports compatibility with redmod scripts, but it is available through an additional dependency.
If you want to use redscript along with redmod, you should install cybercmd, it solves an issue many users were facing where the redmod launcher would prevent redscript compilation from happening. The redscript mod archive contains configuration which will get picked up by cybercmd automatically once installed.
IMPORTANT: delete ‘r6cachemodded’ if it exists after updating redscript, it’ll be regenerated automatically when the game runs

TROUBLESHOOTING
If you’re seeing compilation errors and the redscript log is full of ‘symbol with this name is already defined’ errors, it likely means that one of the files in game directory is corrupted. The easiest way to fix it is to remove everything in ‘r6/cache’ and verify game files.

Game patch 1.61 has just been released
Redscript does not need an update, but some mods have been affected.
If you’re seeing errors, you might need to uninstall some redscript mods and wait for mod authors to provide updates for individual mods that have been affected.

FAQ:
— Where do I find logs?

— I’m seeing ‘Access is denied os error’
You might need to uncheck the ‘read-only’ property on the ‘Cyberpunk 2077r6cachefinal.redscripts’ file (also check ‘r6cachemoddedfinal.redscripts’ if you have one)

— I’m seeing lots of ‘symbol with this name is already defined’ errors in the log
Remove everything from ‘r6/cache’ and verify game files

— I’m seeing compilation errors for some mods
Check mod names and report the errors to the mod authors

Heyjo I’m pretty new to this mod thing and i got an error and don’t know what to do I tried doing what the error says but it won’t work

REDScript compilation failed. The game will start, but none of the scripts will take effect. This is cause by errors in:
-SilenSilencersAndKnives.reds
Based on the errors found, the suggested actions are:
-Either the redscript backup is bad (most likely), you have a redscript mod installed twice in diffrent locations (less likely), or two different mods are creating new classes with the same name (unlikely). Check the current rescript log at r6/logs/redscript_rCURRENT.log and chek if you’re seeing «symbol with this name is already defined» error on multiple mods or just one. If it’s just one mod, check the file locations and see if you have the mod installed twice or a conflickt. If it*s lots of mods, try deleting everything in r6/cache and verify/ repair files in Steam/Gog/Epic.
If you need more information, consult the logs.

i checked the logs and i thing it was only one mod which says symbol with this name is already defined so I tried to do what the error says but it still won’t work. What can I do to fix this?

When starting the game, i’m seeing this kind of message (translation from French):
Cyberpunk 2077 has encoutered an error : missing scripts or corrupted ones. The game will now close. Please verify game files integrity before restarting it.

I’ve tried the different methods about r6/cache, verifying game, troublemaker chase through deactivation of other mods, i’ve installed cybercmd and try everything i know i can to fix it, but everytime it does so.

    I modded CP 2077 3 weeks ago and have had no problems until 2 days ago. Apparently, this issue has been going on since the beginning of December.

    What I have done (none of these have worked):

    Reinstalled everything from the ground up (so everything is 100% up to date)
    Cyberpunk 2077/r6/cache/final.redscripts and engine/tools/ssc.exe are not «read-only»
    Ran ssc.exe and Cyberpunk 2077 as administrator
    Removed scripts, launched game, closed game, put scripts back on, launched game

    I’m downloaded mods with vortex, I have cybercmd installed through vortex, and I keep getting an error message saying corrupted or missing file scripts caused it. When I deactivate redscripts on NMM the error goes away. I tried deleting the r6/cache folder but that didn’t seem to help.

    Hi so I’m new but I’ve just had this problem come up and was wondering if anyone knew what I can do

    Red script is for modding, if i recall correctly. The red script tool likely has not been updated yet. Best to remove any mods that rely on redscript for now.

    You mean you’re using a pirated copy of the game? Be advised. The Nexus, nor most of the mod authors, do not condone nor offer support to people using pirated games. Outing yourself as a pirated game copy onwer, on this site, more often than not, can earn you a ban.

    ВАЖНОЕ ЗАМЕЧАНИЕ


    Недавно выпущенная версия компилятора поставляется со списком исключений модов, которые больше не работают, так что вам, как пользователю, не нужно беспокоиться о том, что ваша игра будет сломана, так как моды будут просто проигнорированы. Я настоятельно призываю авторов модов устранить любые ошибки компиляции в своих модах и после исправления их модов уведомить пользователей об удалении их модов из списка исключений, расположенного по адресу: Cyberpunk 2077/r6/скрипты/redscript.toml

    ИСПОЛЬЗОВАНИЕ
    Для работы компилятора требуется 3 файла из архива:
    Cyberpunk 2077   engine tools scc.exe
    Cyberpunk 2077   engine config base scripts.ini
    — Cyberpunk 2077 r6 config cybercmd scc.toml

    Вы можете поместить туда файлы, распаковав архив компилятора, доступный на вкладке «Файлы» в каталоге Cyberpunk 2077.
    Как только они будут добавлены, компилятор будет компилировать скрипты, расположенные в каталоге Cyberpunk 2077 r6 scripts при запуске игры.
    Как только компилятор будет установлен, все, что вам нужно сделать, это добавить новые скрипты/моды в Cyberpunk 2077 r6 scripts.

    РЕШЕНИЕ ПРОБЛЕМ
    Если у вас возникнут какие-либо проблемы с redscript, вам следует поискать файл журнала по адресу Cyberpunk 2077 r6 cache redscript.log.
    Этот файл журнала должен заканчиваться словами «Output successfully saved to…» («Вывод успешно сохранен в…»), если моды были успешно применены.
    Если файл журнала содержит какие-либо ошибки или предупреждения, вы можете разместить их на странице мода на Nexus, чтобы помочь с отладкой.

    УДАЛЕНИЕ
    Компилятор сохраняет копию скриптов игры в файле Cyberpunk 2077 r6 cache final.redscripts.bk.
    Если вы хотите удалить redscript, вы можете просто удалить загруженные файлы (scc.exe и scripts.ini) и заменить существующий файл final.redscripts на резервный файл final.redscripts.bk.
