For almost a year now, one user is having issues scanning documents, support calls have been futile, no solutions, no answers, nothing.

“Are you sure you are pushing the right button on the printer?” …

So, as per their instructions I:
OK, I created 2 new items on the Konica copier for you, as suggested by the tech support person at Konica.
One is a new «destination» for scanning directly to your PC from the Konica.
#49 is direct to your «DocumentsScanned Documents» on YOUR local PC.

Additionally, from the Konica, there is now a GROUP 1, which scans not only to your PC, but as in the past to the Server, in the Scans folder, AnneMarie folder (#14, as it was previously).

So, you can scan one of 3 ways to try & test.

1=the old way #14, to the Server/Scans/AnneMarie
2=#49, directly to your PC (C:UsersAnnemarieDocumentsScanned Documents)
3=GROUP 1, to both 1 & 2 as stated above.

Let me know how it goes.
Bottom line, if #14 flakes out as it has been from time to time, use #49 (or just keep using #49 to see if it flakes out)
Additionally, you can try also Group 1, which goes to both.
(if #14 give any headaches, stop using it and just use #49, forget Group 1, as it will include #14 an if it is problematic, it will also fail).

End user states:

I was able to print out the log for scans and faxes. There are no errors on the log for the scans I have had to scan twice to get the original scan to drop in my scan folder. I can send you the log if you want to see it. They are all resulting “OK”.

20 other users, no issues.

All permissions fine on Windows 2008 Server (not using AD), and all machines identical (Windows 7 Professional).

Changed Cat 5 cables, re-imaged PC, different port on gigabit switch, tried everything.

Why does this user keep having issues?

Instead of them printing out the logs, get them to look at them directly on the machine:

1. Job List
2. Job Details
3. Send
4. Send History
5. Find and select the job that errored (it will say Deleted Due to Error)
6. Press the Details button in the bottom right corner of the screen

This will give you a more detailed reason for the error.

If the problem is for one users PC only and you have imaged it, maybe try changing the port on the switch the PC is connected to as there could be an issue with the port on the switch.

KM C550 BizHub scan to SMB failed, deleted due to login error?

KM C550 BizHub scan to SMB failed, deleted due to login error? I have several users setup to scan to email and to SMB (shared folders on filerserver), one of the SMBs stopped working the other day and I have tried everything that I can think of and it still fails and gives the same error. Other users (myself included) can scan to email and to our own SMB folders on the server.

The particular SMB account with the problem is a folder on the server that several people in the dept have access to. They scan to this shared folder and then reach it via a mapped drive (while logged into thier computer as themself.) The SMB is a user account that is used as an external email contact. I have double-checked the security and permissions on the SMB account and the person’s account who is doing the scannning and everything looks ok. I reset the copier (turned on/off), rebooted the user’s pc, reset the password for the scan to SMB account (via web IP access to Konica copier), checked that neither user account was locked out, SMB scan to user account password is (and always was) set to never expire, even deleted and recreated the scan to SMB account on the copier! Searched and have found nothing on the net (including Konica’s site) that has helped yet.

A couple weeks ago I had to reset this user’s network password because it had expired, but then it has worked fine for about one month until now.

OK, I even added a second similar named scan to SMB account and set it up with same userid and it got same error when scanning. Changed the userid to myself (with my password) and it worked fine, so I then changed it back to the original user without entering any password (who had the scan problem) and it worked. The next day it was broken again, so I entered the user’s current network password into the SMB setup with her userid and it works fine now. Only thing that I can think of is that somehow the Konica got stuck on the user’s old password and to get it unstuck it needed a different userid (and password) entered in. HTH

In the setup on the KM I have the Host Address, File Path (for scan to store directly to it), Userid, and Password and this works for all users scan to smb. All users are members of the network domain. Please elaborate on your explanation.

Konica controllers do not use the workgroup (or domain)/user method. Only the username. Your NVRAM might be going, or need to be cleared if it keeps happending.

I have had similar issues with these devices, but I have been able to solve all my issues by changing a setting on the machine through the Web Interface.

Logon as Admin — Network — SMB — Client — NTLM

Make sure that your NTLM version is set to v1/v2. This makes sure that the machine will authenticate to both local usernames and AD usernames.

Also, when recreating usernames, make sure that ‘User must change Password at next logon’ isn’t ticked because this will also stop the machine from logging in correctly.

Also, try using FQ usernames in the machine. IE:

copier@example.internal or what ever your internal domain is as some can be .internal, some might be .com and so on.

If you have a separate account for the copier, check the security logs on your server as they will give login and log out audits. Macke sure that the machine is deffinately trying to logon correctly.

scan to email deleted due to error

I’m trying to get a KonicaMinolta Bizhub c360 to scan to email and I need more error information in order to really resolve it.

It had previously been able to use an external smtp server which didn’t require authentication, but that server is being decomissioned. I put smtp in IIS on a local 2008 R2 machine and tested smtp by successfully sending a few emails via command line. the only difference here *should* be the smtp server IP address, but changing just that doesn’t seem to work and when I view Job History I see that the scan failed and the only explanation is «job deleted due to error»

any idea how I might go about finding out more precisely what the issue is? I’ve looked at the smtp server and nothing appears in the queue.

I spent a day with a similar problem recently. Konica Minolta Bizhub C203 that wouldn’t scan via email. Unfortunately, I was unable to find any more details beyond the generic error message you’re seeing. If there’s nothing showing on the SMTP server, then the data isn’t making it that far. Try clearing the settings from the Konica and re-entering them— I’ve encountered instances with the Bizhub devices where, even if the credentials etc. have been entered correctly, I had to clear them and re-enter for it to work.

yes, what i was trying to point out is the printer most likely does not do TLS encryption so the server that you pointed the printer at has changed in someway and most likely they turned on SSL / TLS encryption. Lots of scanners and voicemail systems are old enough that TLS 2.0 is not included in the firmware.

You get around this by putting an intermediate SMTP server that is set to allow all SMTP traffic without TLS scoped to just the IP addresses of the scanners and such so only those devices have open SMTP relay. Then you get the SMTP server to SmartHost that email up to the real SMTP server with TLS turned on.

Let me know if that makes sense.

right, you’re on to something actually, just before you wrote that I decided to test the smtp server from another system using telnet because previously I had tested it from itself via telnet and it delivered perfectly.

when I attempted to telnet to it from another system on the network I wasn’t able to connect, so something may be going on there. I still think the printer is sorely under reporting its errors though.

Silly question but have you tried restarting the Konica after you make the SMTP change? I know some MFP devices will need a reboot to set the SMTP info into memory.

The issue was SMTP server security settings were set backwards so instead of allowing the list of servers below it blocked the list of servers below, which contained the printer. it worked from the server itself because of that.

c750i deleted due to error

So, Recently we have been getting errors on our c750i that jobs are being deleted due to errors.
When I look at the logs a successful print shows the scenarionID with the print job, the code which matches the user box id, and the external server name for authentication.

a failure shows the scenarioID as 0 , no user code, and no authentication parameters. This has been difficult to troubleshoot as the same user will randomly work, then hours alter it breaks, then starts working again. Have changed the domain controllers that authentication happens at and we still have the issue. windows updates were not applied when the issue started so I am ruling that out.

hoping someone has some info on this..

No page limits and its every domain user randomly having the issue. AD accounts are not being locked and we are using SSO.

This has always been a tough environment to setup, and is better left to 3rd party solutions to handle logins and follow print/secure print ect, but saying that…

1. Single Sign on requires External server authentication and SSO checked
2. print driver must reflect SSO option enabled when getting a new config and should not even be allowed unless the machine picks up the authentication settings.
3. SSO check box in authentication settings checked and correct username reflecting in the print box.

OK,,So all this seems to be setup correctly and works, just intermittent failures..

1. Does the machine show any indication that it has failed to connect to AD
2. Does your time/date match +/- a few seconds, or you have a NTP server in use
3. Do you allow bring your device to work and allow mobile connections to the LAN? Does AD show any user that has deleted print jobs getting a account lock out at or around the same time? I ask because mobile devices with an out of date password will lock AD accounts as they try to log on to the wireless..
4. Have you tested the NIC? Any timeouts when pinging, is the NIC configured to best match the switch it’s connected to? E

2. Does your time/date match +/- a few seconds, or you have a NTP server in use — We have a ntp server configured. I have checked this setting multiple times as well thinking it could be a time issue. especially as we just had daylight savings early November when this started happening.
3. Do you allow bring your device to work and allow mobile connections to the LAN? Does AD show any user that has deleted print jobs getting a account lock out at or around the same time? I ask because mobile devices with an out of date password will lock AD accounts as they try to log on to the wireless.. I have checked their credentials for lockouts with to be sure that is not the case as I thought similar.
4. Have you tested the NIC? Any timeouts when pinging, is the NIC configured to best match the switch it’s connected to? We use PRTG for monitoring and shows a 2% packet loss for 5 minutes over the past 48 hours..

We got exactly the same issue, (happened after the November Microsoft CU patches), on all of our printers Bizhub c250i.

It all works without SSO — so when users put their credentials in the printer preferences.

But as soon as people check the «Enable SSO» in printer preferences and try to print it ends with errors.

We have opened a case at MS but no luck so far. Does anyone got any clue?

You know, I thought it might be the updates provisioned as well. I removed it from our DC as well as applied the OOB patch and still having the issue.

Really thank you for reply! I’ve finally fround someone with the same issue that we have — Internet is completely silent about it.

We did the same — tried to uninstall it, later installed once again and installed the OOB as well. Applied the registry entries (fixes) manually — still no luck.

We managed to establish that this is the server fault as we had a W10 machine without November patches — still the same issue. Printing with Login/Password works, but not with SSO checkbox marked.

I have opened a case at MS, they havesent following plan:

Thank you for your response, based on it we will need you to take the following traces when you attempt to reproduce the issue:

  1. Download from the following link the file containing the tracing scripts https://aka.ms/authscripts

NOTE: The authentication scripts should be executed from a Windows PowerShell (Admin) session.

  1. To start tracing execute the start-auth.ps1 script
  1. Attempt to reproduce the issue by attempting to print, when it fails take not of the exact time.
  1. To stop tracing execute the stop-auth.ps1 script

The data will be collected in a subdirectory, from where the scripts are executed, called “Authlogs”

When executing the Start-auth.ps1 command, if it is the first time the user has executed the script on this device, the user will be asked to accept a EULA. If the user accepts the EULA, the scripts will execute on the device and the following registry key will be created.
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMicrosoftCESDiagnostic Tools

Subsequent usage for this user on the same device, will not require the EULA to be displayed or accepted.

I’ve reproduced the issue on our print server, send them the output folder and waiting for the info them their side.

Thank you for your response, my apologies but the traces had to be taken from the Domain Controller for the Domain precisely to verify the authentication process that may be failing when attempting to print, we will need you to take the trace from the DC. Besides this we will also need you to provide us with the Security log from that same DC. Meanwhile we will begin checking the traces provided from the printer server.

      it does make sense, but that’s already how it’s set up. if you read my original post thoroughly I state that I put smtp in IIS on a 2008 R2 machine, and I’m not using TLS or any other kind of encryption.

    • Silly question but have you tried restarting the Konica after you make the SMTP change? I know some MFP devices will need a reboot to set the SMTP info into memory…

      an excellent point, I had to carefully consider those when checking the configuraton on the printer, but they weren’t changed and had been working just fine with the other SMTP server. both fields are filled and valid.

      it’s fixed!

      The issue was SMTP server security settings were set backwards so instead of allowing the list of servers below it blocked the list of servers below, which contained the printer. it worked from the server itself because of that.

    I have a Konica Minolta 2400W is it a possibility the printer itself has gone bad? Once I realized it was no longer printing, tells me the USB device in not recognised and may be defective. I downloaded the latest drivers from Konica’s Home Premium and has run quite successfully until this past weekend. No the software without success.

    Any help would be greatly color laser printer (USB only connection) printer. My question is am I overlooking something very basic, or I changed the data cable thinking it went bad. Every time I remove the data cable and re-insert it, the PC appreciated.

    And they can be from any number of sources; personal emails from and use windows live mail as my mail program of choice. This is NOT the issue where images are hidden: more That’s how they look, whether i view them inside the program or double click on them to have their own window. However, the emails come through fine via webmail or my ideas…?

    I’m running windows 7 on a 1 year old PC, phone, just not in WLM, where the text is hidden. Any emails, only showing a portion of them. Oddly enough, WLM sometimes eats my regular contacts, or even the generic group messages, like from twitter and facebook. often than not, it’s the text or body of the email.

    We have just bought a new printer for one of our stand a lone users.

    The only printer that comes through from their local profile is I am truley stuck with this one now and would be is attached to their laptop via USB cable. They then connect to our VPN network to access e-mails etc.

    I accessed a file today and Windows says that it was last accessed in 2013. after the fact is irrelevant. I’m gonna assume changing it Windows 8 you have to change a registry value to enable it. If it was cleared, there is not or changed user settings in the AppData folder.

Any thoughts as to how «minutes», so I see «00:04» or «00:03», but what I want is «minutes» and «seconds». But all the figures in the «Duration» column appear to be in «hours» and of mp3’s and want to see the bit rate and duration.
