Windows 2016 — Boot Bluescreen #72

Hello,
Working to make a Win 2016 server standard (desktop experience) instance on OS. After uploading the vhd and creating an instance I get multiple BSOD like thi.s

After a couple of tries, Windows wants to be repaired.

I have a suspicion that it is related to some files that are not found during the New-WindowsCloudImage commandlet work.

The image created opened in virtual box quite nicely and did all the firstlogin, and login tasks and shutdown. But after uploading the resulting vhd to OpenStack, it doesn’t start well.

If the target hardware differs from the hardware where you generated the image, you need to set in C:WindowsPantherunattend. xml, in the generalize section, PersistDriversInstall to False.

I got them, and am trying them now. I’ll report findings.

I have same problem for windows 2016. i created windows 2016 image by using create-windows-online-cloud-image.ps1. When i imported my image to virt-manager and hpe hellion openstack, i encounter the same error.
However, i didn’t have any problem for windows 2012.

I have created a windows 2016 core image and I did not get any boot errors on KVM. Can you give more details on the environment you are working with and the imaging tools logs?

I attached imaging tools log for windows 2016 and windows 2012, and screenshot

Windows 10 /2016 requires two more cpu features in order to boot on KVM. By default, kvm does not expose those features.

Still no luck. Exact same results with the blue screen on boot. I’m suspecting compatibility with win16 and ovirt or cloudbase init.

This is my command to make the image.

I had very similar errors on the image creation as @gulseren. Seems like that has to be the best clue as to what is going on.
I pulled #77 and tried it again, but the same errors cropped up on image creation.

Even though it completed the image (it usually does), and virtual box booted, and syspreped, the image behaves badly when uploaded.

This error happens on boot with windows.

It definitely looks like a hypervisor boot issue — can you try with this command to spawn up an instance on KVM?

But, i still get boot error on HPE Hellion Openstack. How can i upload this image on HPE Hellion Openstack?

@gulseren, I think you need to check with the Helion OpenStack support in order to present the issues you are getting and if they support Server 2016.

My image runs on KVM. But after I upload to openstack, it fails with this error again.

@nmcclenahan Please check https://ask.cloudbase.it/question/1125/problem-booting-from-the-windows-2012-r2-image/ and try to use another cpu model, like host-passthrough or make sure the required windows cpu flags are exposed by kvm.

@nmcclenahan can you try with cpu_mode=host-passthrough ? the exposed penryn cpu flags are quite interesting. You can try also with an older virtio iso version, like https://fedorapeople.org/groups/virt/virtio-win/deprecated-isos/archives/virtio-win-0.1-52/ . Let me know if it fixes the issues you have.

I tried to make a Windows Server image 2016 with Windows Server 2012 everything works.

For me helped inserting this line to /etc/modprobe.d/kvm.conf

    I’m trying to install Win7 64bits on ssd to replace my sata drive but I’m blocked during install

    After booting on dvd, first step wokrs perfectly. The computer restart (that’s normal) and after few seconds the following error message appears : «Windows Setup experienced an unexpected error. To install Windows, restart the installation».

I am trying to install Windows7 Ultimate on an older HP G62 Notebook.
I have got around this error extracting the driver from the HP package(thx @joebakb) and pointing the installer to it in the drive selection dialogue — according to setupact.log it is recognized

However when attempting to configure the installation after the reboot the

Windows Setup could not configure Windows on this computer’s hardware.

message pops up.
Attempting to use the repair function of Windows Setup doesn’t work.

Ahh I see.

Also make sure you’re installing to an active partition. If you used an OS from this hard drive to make to bootable USB stick, you may need to switch the active partition from the current OS partition to the new install partition.

The problem stemmed as i guessed from the USB install and from having created the stick with YUMI.
There is a documented problem with Windows Setup not recognizing the USB stick it has been launched from.
So once the install environment is ready and any additional drivers are loaded setup has to be aborted (close the window) the stick removed and one can restart ,otherwise an error stating «setup was unable to install a new system partition or find an existing one» comes up.
Later once the first 4 parts of the Windows install are done and the system reboots you have to remove the USB stick (if it has been created with YUMI atleast) otherwise Setup cannot configure the bootmanager on the harddrive…

No idea what leads to this behaviour though ..
This was a fresh install with a USB stick created from the original Microsoft iso

The installation process isn’t merging the installer media database with the local media database.

1. Ensure that the installation of these two database files (media.db and local media.db) is not corrupted (don’t display 0 bytes).

2. Update the operating system.

3. Restart and retry.

4. Check permissions on local media.db.

5. Run the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove old installations. See Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems.

Exit code: 16 Failed to load deployment file.

Deployment file generated by AAAME or ASU is normally valid. Temporary deployment file cannot be loaded.

Run the install again.

Exit code: 18 Adobe Application Manager Bootstrap Failed.

This error often occurs during silent installations.

Close all conflicting processes. Then restart your computer and retry the installation.

1. Ensure that the installer isn’t corrupt (media.db is present in the payloads folder).

2. Make a local copy of the installer, and then retry the installation.

Здравствуйте Господа!
Благодарю за оказанную помощь.
Подскажите пожалуйста пути решения в установке личного сертификата пользователя  *.cer в систему Alt Linux 7KDE x64, необходимо для работы с системой «ГАС Управление». Все остальные шаги по установке КриптоПро и КриптоФокс прошел.
А с установкой сертификата проблемы.

Продолжаю экспериментировать с Centaurus 7.05 x32
Прошел все указанные Вами шаги по установке Крипто Про и плагина для браузера.

споткнулся на этапе установки корневого сертификата
выдал ошибку:

КриптоПро не может найти файл сертификата. Зачем Вы под root его запускали, а в пути указали домашний каталог (то есть /root), где ничего не лежит?
КриптоПро прекрасно работает под обычным пользователем. Под ним и скачивайте cer и запускайте certmgr (с установленным cryptopro-preinstall не нужно вводить полные пути к исполняемым файлам.

при попытке использовать token-manager, происходит импорт, даже сообщение об успешном импорте выходит, а самого файла сертификата  не видно. Только после импорта через certmgr, сертификат появляется в списке установленных. В чем причина может быть?

В том случае, если используется Linux с rpm-пакетами, то необходимо его распаковать и скопировать в соответствующие каталоги/директории/папки. Необходимо также будет выполнить скрипт postinst от имени root:
#sh –xv postinst

там используется другой «firefox» и другой криптопровайдер — не cryptopro…

Видимо нужно иметь несколько компьютеров для доступа к разным госсайтам  :-o

при попытке использовать token-manager, происходит импорт, даже сообщение об успешном импорте выходит, а самого файла сертификата  не видно. Только после импорта через certmgr, сертификат появляется в списке установленных. В чем причина может быть?

в результате танца с бубном добился появления плагина в списке Firefox!!!!
Дальше интересней!
При входе на gasu.gov.ru всплывает окно плагина ура!
Но пишет нет действующих сертификатов :-
после установки token-manager, бывшему пользователю винды наглядно видны установленные корневые сертификаты! Но при установке личного сертификата вышло сообщение «импорт успешно!» и все в окне просмотра его нет. если выполнить certmgr -list то все пристойно, под номером 1 пользовательский под номером 2 корневой.
где затык не пойму
