During our research, we also found that sometimes the same error comes with a different error code Library_7668455_5f24d6ddd9f44727.

The error comes like this;

What should I do to solve this problem?

My games are installed on the «D» disk.
I’m using Steam as «start as administrator».
I don’t think it will be a problem due to antivirus program.
There is no problem with my internet either because I can use my internet everywhere except steam.

This issue has been present since yesterday evening. To solve the problem, I closed and opened the «steam» application. I restarted the computer. But both were not a solution. By the way, I completely remove the «read-only» check from the settings of the «Steam Library» folder on the «D» disk, but the room was not a solution. Please, knowledgeable folks, help me with this. I want to solve this problem as soon as possible. I want to get my games back. I miss playing games.

I think the browser is messing up on something
first try to clear browser cahsed data:
Steam → Settings → Web Browser → Delete WEb Browser Cache
You can try to also clear the cookies

See if that helps first

To play for now you can right-click the game and select play (and if that does not work go View → Small mode and do that from there)

You can also try to double click a game to start it

It seems like its having a problem loading the Game info, the library it self seem to load

Since the last update remote play was not working well (some games wouldn’t launch) so I uninstalled steam on the remote PC, reinstalled, and now I get the following any time I click on a remote game, even without trying to launch it

I saw one other person asked about this on Reddit 13 hours ago, so I’m not alone.

Anyone here run into this issue? Did you find a workaround?

Edit: Found a workaround in another post. Launch the game from big picture mode (apparently only helps Windows users).

Big Picture mode got the game to launch for me on Windows, but the connection was extremely poor with huge lag spikes. There may be more to the Remote Play issue than this UI error, or this could just be something I’ve done while messing around in Steam settings on the host.

In the ticket I opened, the support person said the dev team is aware and it should be fixed in the next update.

Same problem, on the PC I stream to (it cannot run the game on its own) I pressed STREAM and then the game starts on the host PC but nothing happens on the client. The button changes from STREAM to CONNECT but it won’t connect.

The other way around trying to stream another game TO the host PC I get the «Cannot read property ‘TakeFocus’ of undefined» error popup.

Big picture mode does not help in either case.

I’ve got a following response from support:

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue. Unfortunately, I do not have a fix for you at this time.

Along with reports submitted directly to Support, the Steam team uses a number of community sources to help investigate the frequency and severity of issues like this. These issues are continually being addressed through Steam Updates. Support does not provide any information on upcoming or planned fixes.

If you haven’t done so already, please also try opting into the Steam Client Beta and if the issue persists then I would encourage you to submit it in our Remote Play Bug Reports section as this is actively read by the Valve development team.

Again, I am sorry that we do not have a fix for you at this time but if you have any other unrelated help requests that we can assist you with, please let us know.

Something went wrong while displaying this content refresh error reference

Hey, I can no longer start games via Remote Play. I get the following error:

Cannot read property ‘TakeFocus’ of undefined

Both client and host devices have the latest steam version from 16th of November.
Right before the update I launched «To the moon» from my library via Remote Play.
It seemed ok, though the cursor was missing in the main menu.
I cleared download cache and browser data. I don’t know what else could be done.

For those who just joined, several options to solve the issue were offered in this discussion:

— start the game on the host device manually and then press «connect» on the client device
— use big picture mode
— install SteamLink app (it will provide some additional libraries, and RemotePlay will be fixed)

First 2 options did not work for me, personally, but for some people here they did the trick.

P.S. I cannot my mark my own comment as «reply», can someone repost it? 😀

In addition, if running on a Linux OS, close Steam and run in terminal ‘steam -pipeline’ seems to be a workaround for me with a little hit to performance for some reason

So, I was playing some Elden ring today using Remote play cause my other pc cant run it.

Everything was great for several hours. When suddenly the game dropped.

Since then I can even click button «Stream» (it just does nothing) and when I try the workaround with Big picture it suddenly works BUT I have insane lags so the game is not playable.

Anyone encountered the same issue? Cant find any fixes for this. And It cant be settings issue, it something with Steam itself. I even restarted both of my PCs but still the «Stream» button is frozen and cant be clicked. (Just with this one game tho, I launches other games without problem).

The stream button issue is the same issue. Eventually you will get the error msg mentioned.

If you can, launch the game on the host pc, then go to the pc you want to stream it to, and you’ll see the Stream button is now a Connect button. The Connect button has been working for me, and I don’t have the headaches of big picture mode.

Hey, guys! Meanwhile there is also a reply from the support:

Sorry to hear you are having this problem. No worries, let’s see what we can do.

This is a known issue that our development team is aware of and working on to address in the future. Please try the following steps to resolve the issue that involves deleting your clientui and steamui folders in your Steam installation.

1) Exit the Steam client from the Steam menu
2) Locate your Steam installation (by default this is C:Program Files (x86)Steam on Windows)
3) Delete the folders «clientui» and «steamui»
4) Restart Steam and then retest the issue (Steam will automatically recover/fix the deleted folders)

I literally get a new (used) all in one pc monitor and the first thing I attempt to do is stream games through remote play only to find out they just broke it. Timing!

Also Big Picture mode seems to having issues of the mouse pointer not properly aligning to the host PC so that’s kinda useless for me. Can’t click to start a game when the host thinks I’m a centimeter above the option.

For everyone following the threads here, there is actually an official remote play group with a lot more focused discussions on this issue.

Why Valve expected anyone to know they should have been searching for a «group» specific to a built in function of Steam, instead of using the steam support forums, I just can’t understand, but there you go.

Hey, I think I’ve found a solution that fixed the problem for me.
I had to invent smth, because Big Picture mode also ran into an error on my client device.

I looked through a few discussions in the «Remote Play» group @Bob mentioned above. Someone shared that they are using SteamLink App waiting for Remote Play to be fixed. I decided to try it out and suddenly Remote Play started working for me. I think SteamLink App installed some missing libraries or smth like this. Or maybe pairing the client and the host via SteamLink did the trick.

My steps:
1) Installed SteamLink App on the client device
2) Paired the client and the host devices (Stream -> Settings -> RemotePlay -> Pair Steam Link. The app will give you the code for the pairing)
3) Tried streaming via SteamLink (it was glitchy as hell)

Here I decided that it was not worth it, and shut the app down, but gave RemotePlay a shot (your normal «Stream» button). And suddenly it worked — now I can stream without launching SteamLink App.

I am not sure that Steps 2 and 3 are required, maybe just try installing first, and if that’s not enough — pair the devices.

I feel great relief that I’m not the only one with this problem. Same error code and everything. I was banging my head against the wall yesterday trying to figure out a solution.

Thanks Jeronimosss for opening the ticket. Here’s hoping it’ll be fixed soon.

Hello fellow steamers.
I have created a support ticket, hopefully we’ll receive some feedback soon.
It was actually tricky, since there is no option for «Remote Play» in the support menu -_-.

Hi @hNczy, I don’t think it’s possible or I don’t see how.
I have checked the ticket and there is no response yet.

Maybe someone else can also create a ticket? I created it under «Steam client is crashing», because I didn’t find a better option. Maybe this topic is too low prio for support, idk.

I’m on a trip and I’ve been grinding Lost Ark on my cheap ass laptop from my PC at home across the country. Things were chill yesterday and then all of a sudden it stops working today lol

I think I just got around it by entering big picture and then streaming from there

Big Picture Mode worked for me as well streaming from Win11 desktop to Win10 laptop

C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteam.exe” -dev -opendevtools

Steam.
