Sonic generation configuration error

I get this critical error while trying to launch the game, but only when connected to a TV through HDMI. The game still boots regularly when it’s just my computer.

Am I running it at a resolution that my TV / HDMI doesn’t get along with or something? My computer is pretty old, so I do run it at a pretty low resolution to maintain ideal gameplay conditions.

Been toying with various resolutions and so far the HIGHEST ONE is the only one that boots. Which is in no way playable on my machine. Has to be a way around that.

Edit: Seems to be only resolutions matching the TV’s own native ratio, not necessarily resolution. All of those are still too big to run at an acceptable pace for me, though.

Second Edit: Scratch that, after I set it to the max resolution, it will now boot just fine under ANY resolution. Leave it to technology to have a solution that makes absolutely no sense.

Sounds like a problem with the update/launcher rather than a problem with specific setups then. I guess you could try what I did, changing to random resolutions until one works and see if that «wakes it up».

I feel like for some reason the game just really wanted to see for itself that the max resolution wasn’t going to cut it, and once it did it gave in.

Like I said, leave it to technology.

Lazy, the best work around that I’ve found is to do what ezodagrom and Critical Crow have suggested above your comment.

I found that deleting only the «GraphicsConfig.cfg» file works just fine.

I am constantly switching between my computer monitor and my TV (which is hooked up to my second SLI video card) and I have to delete the .cfg file then run config and choose my monitor again every time I switch.

Ну, это все что угодно может быть. Если высвечивается ошибка что-то вроде — «The detected configuration does not match your current hardware. Please re-run the configurations tool». То запустите ConfigurationTool от имени администратора. Другова не знаю, жду подробного описания от вас.

Что происходит вообще, когда запускаете? Или вообще не чего не происходит? Игра то запускается?

Игра начинает запускаться и выскакивает такая ошибка: The detected configuration does not match your current hardware. Please re-run the configurations tool. Запускаю настройки у меня начинает грузить настройки и не открываеться

Что бы решить эту проблему нужно запустить configurations tool от имени администрации, но как вы уже писали, это не помогает. Еще советуют переустановить игру.

У вас видео карта от NVIDIA?

Эта проблема с картами от NVIDIA, вроде была решена с одним из патчей в Steam (попробуйте поставить последний патч и обновить драва на карту). К сожалению мне мало что известно по этому поводу. И сможешь ли что-то вообще помочь вам (ибо не сталкивался).

На всех ноутбуках с Nvidia Optimus игра запускается только с интегрированной видеокартой, т.е. нормально поиграть не получится. Но это можно исправить, сделав следующее:

1) Зайти в Панель Управления NVIDIA -> Управление параметрами 3D -> Программные настройки

2) Добавить файлы SonicGenerations.exe и ConfigurationTool.exe из папки steamsteamappscommonsonic generations и выбрать для них видеокарту Nvidia.

3) Нажать «Применить».

4) Кликнуть правой кнопкой мыши по рабочему столу и зайти в Разрешение Экрана.

5) Нажать найти, после чего появятся 2 дополнительных монитора.

6) Нажать на любой из них, чуть ниже выбрать карту Nvidia.

7) В выпадающем списке «Несколько экранов» выбрать «Попытаться в любом случае подключиться к: VGA».

8 ) Нажать «Применить».

9) Затем в списке «Несколько экранов» выбрать «Расширить эти экраны».

Follow these steps and your game will run good as new as it did before it started messing up..er..or if it never ran before ._. *cough*

1) Run Sonic Generations from the Steam Library (just to have it cached as a recent activity even if the error pops up)

2) Delete the «GraphicsConfig.cfg» file found in «C:Program FilesSteamSteamAppscommonsonic generations»

3) Look at the Nvidia (or whatever you video processor is) control panel and add Sonic Generations as a program to customize

4) Click «Restore» after you added it so that it would revert to the default settings

5) Return to the Steam Library and instead of clicking «Play Sonic Generations», click «Configure»

6) Click «Graphics Configuration» and look at the options

7) I noticed that all the quality settings was on «Low». Set both the Shadow Quality and Reflection Quality on «High»

Make the Configuration window full screen so you can click the «Save and Exit» button at the bottom

9) Run Sonic Generations

I’m not sure if steps 3-4 are required but, if you have Nvidia, I would definitely do them. I’m not sure how the steps would work under any other video processors control panel..sorry 🙁 It should work though. If not, let me know and I will keep digging to try to find a fix under multiple situations.

Thank you so much! I tried this and it worked like a charm! And the icing on the cake is that all my save files are still intact! Oh, and for those wondering, I did not do steps 3 & 4 despite my computer having nvidia.
