Question

i have some problem to a computer with Windows 7 64 bits.

I cannot delete a local user.

When i tried to delete him, i have the error message «System error 1377
The specified account name is not a member of the group»

And when i tried to put him again in the local group i have this message «System error 1378 has occurred.
The specified account name is already a member of the group.»

Thanks for your help

run as administrator in cmd and run this command

or using this manual method

maybe this user account not at the same group, check user listed after at that net users command

run as administrator in cmd and run this command

The correct command to remove a user from a group would be

net localgroup «group_name» «user_name» /delete

I just refer to this step

glad if you have complete command

glad if you have complete command

Note the OP’s Subject line:

Cannot delete user from localgroup

This is not the same as deleting a user account (which the sevenforum’s tutorial deals with).

so, may bad, you are the best

I try all of the commands lines and graphical interfaces.

Yes my problem is different from both .

Yes my problem is different from both .

Your feedback does not tell us all that much. Since you did not click the «Quote» button we do not know which response you replied to. You should also post the actual command you typed (verbatim, please!) and the screen response you got each time. Here they are again:

net localgroup «group_name»
net localgroup «group_name» «user_name» /delete

You’re right, i’ll will try to explain better my problem.

  • When i type : net Users; i see my user
  • When i type : net Localgroup Users : i don’t see my user
  • When i type : net Localgroup Users my_user /add : i have the message «System error 1378 has occurred. The specified account name is already a member of the group.»
  • When i type : net my_user /delete : i have the message «System error 1377
The specified account name is not a member of the group»

When i type :
net Localgroup Users my_user /add :
i have the message «System error 1378 has occurred. The specified account name is already a member of the group.»

User names cannot contain slashes.

You should also do a test run by creating a test group and a test user. Now try to add both an existing user and also the test user to the test group.

Yes the right command is : net Localgroup Users my_user /add

ok but that is not a problem.

I have already done this test, i can put my_user without any difficulty to any group.

But i can delete my user

Yes the right command is : net Localgroup Users my_user /add

ok but that is not a problem.

I have already done this test, i can put my_user without any difficulty to any group.

But i can delete my user

i but my_user to any group and delete it from this group.

But i cannot delete my user

if i create a new user i can but it to any group and delete it normaly

i but my_user to any group and delete it from this group.

But i cannot delete my user

if i create a new user i can but it to any group and delete it normaly

This is getting a little confusing. The Subject of your post is
Cannot delete user from localgroup

You now report this:
i [can add] my_user to any group and delete it from this group.
But i cannot delete my user

The last two statements appear to contradict the Subject of your post.

I tried to be precise but yes my real problem is to cannot delete some existing user.

I do not think that «being precise» goes togher with posting contradictory statements. The Subject line of a post should contain a brief summary of a problem, not some possibly irrelevant side issue.

britishdhez posted the correct recipe earlier in this thread:

  1. Start an elevated command prompt.
  2. Type this command:
    net user «user_name» /delete

That not working

When i do that i have the error message : «System error 1377
The specified account name is not a member of the group»

If this command net user «user_name» /delete reports that the account is not a group member then you security database is corrupted. Maybe some virus or registry «cleaner» damaged it.

If using the command while in «Safe Mode with Networking» does not solve the problem then you probably have to reload Windows.

I suggest you try to create new administrator user or do inplace upgrade

you also have option to ignore that user account if it don’t affected your task

I have the same message;

no solution for my problem; i have to reinstall

That is not a solution for me.

That is not a solution for me.

I already install a lot of application and is a lot of time to reinstall it.

With machines that take a lot of effort to configure I always create an image, either using the native image creation tool or a mature third-party tool such as Acronis True Image. It’s called «protecting your investment». Unfortunately it’s too late in your case because you need to create (and maintain!) an image while the machine is in perfect condition. You might have to bite the bullet and perform a destructive Factory Restore.

  • Question

  • I’m getting below error when running the SSRS report (http://servername/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx)

Microsoft.ReportingServices.UI.FolderPage+InsufficientPermissionsToRoot: User ‘xxx’ does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed.

Currently, in the «Reporting Services Configuration Manager» under the «Service Account», I am using user ‘domainAdministrator’ (selected the «Use another account») option.

This ‘domainAdministrator’ is my login for entering windows server 2008 R2 standard VM (windows account with administrator rights).

    Done below things:

    1) The UAC is «Never notify»,

    2) IE openned under administrative right,

    3) C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSRS11.MSSQLSERVER and assigned full control security for «Everyone» and «domainAdministrator» user to «Reporting Services» folder

    4) Added «http://localhost» and «http://servername» to trusted site in IE and put all to lowest setting

    5) Verified that «domainAdministrator» belong to the «Administrators Group»,  I even add «SQLServerReportServerUser$servername$MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER» to the user group (i felt weird why it is MSRS10_50 because I’m using
SQL server 2012 upgraded from sql server 2008, but anyway… that is the one used by «domainsqlservice»)

    6) Verified that net localgroup administrators domainAdomainA_user /add

    System error 1378 has occurred.

The specified account name is already a member of the group.

I am not able to view the page because of above error. My understanding is that some people have no problem in accessing the page under admin, but not in user mode. My case is that even in the admin mode, I’m not able to access it…

I’m new to SSRS and just managed to view the report service directory (and the report I deployed too) under

    http://servername/ReportServer/

Recap, http://servername/ReportServer/ no problem, http://servername/Reports give me problem.

I appreciate any help to make me able to view the page…

Note: This SQL server is SQL server 2012 developer, which is upgraded from SQL server 2008 R2 Developer

Observation: In Reporting Services Configuration Manager>Database>Current Report Server Database Credential, no matter how I changed the login account information, everytime I openned the page in browser, it will always show the failure for «domainAdministrator».
I cant figure out how to change it… Any help?
