I tried installing it with a CD..
it installs ubuntu to a certain point and then stops (after the name password window).. the last thing I see before the error pops up is a big white window with an «>» on the right side.
I tried to gather some debug info via ctrl+alt+f2 but whenever I type something in it tells me I do not have permission to do so.

Follow these steps to fix the problem:

TRY Ubuntu from USB or CD
-
Open terminal, and type:
sudo apt-get remove ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu -
Start the installation

It seems likely that your installation media is corrupted—in my experience, that’s the most common cause of this kind of installation error.
You should MD5 test the .iso image you downloaded. If that doesn’t check out, then you’ll have to download a new .iso and start over.
If it does check out, then you should check the installation media for defects. This applies to both CD/DVD media and to USB flash drives.

В вируалбоксе хотел поставить kubuntu-12.04-desktop-i386.iso. Сумма образо ок, виртуалбокс в винде 7, CPU i5

С англ. дружу — понимаю что он хочет. Где что в виртуалбоксе отключить?
UPD. Разобрался. Хоть и пишет что надо выключить РАЕ, а в виртуалбоксе надо наоборот — включить РАЕ галочку поставить
Как раз пишет, что ядро хочет пае, а в процессоре это выключено, то есть просит включить.

Потому что пае идёт по дефолту с х32.

Ставил kubuntu-12.04-desktop-i386.iso и также установилось pae ядро по умолчанию
Развернуть/свернуть скрытый текст.

Речь изначально шла то об установке кубунту в виртуалку, и не было указано сколько памяти под нее планируется выделять.

А почему бы и нет? Если это не ноут с урезанной виртуализацией, х64 можно ставить.

У меня на сам ноут не установилась 12.04… Три разных образа качал (с разных источников). 10.04 устанавливается, а 12.04 не хочет. Что-то я делаю не так… (и это что-то связано с pae ядром) Пробовал alternate образ и просто i386, но все тщетно. Darkness, советуете x64 пытаться ставить? Или есть еще варианты?

При установке с alternate (если образ взлетает) нужно дефолтное pae ядро заменить обычным. Или поставить в chroot. Если ваш комп не поддерживает виртуализацию pae, то не знаю, можно ли рассчитывать на виртуализацию х64.
Попробовать точно можно.

У меня получилось так запускаю VirtualBox далее вкладка настроить-система-процессор поставить галочку включить PAE/NX все заработало

А у меня на MSI Wind U100 c подключенным по Wi-Fi инетом(имею ввиду что в процессе скачивается контент отмеченный галочками, в частности языковой пакет) установка доходит почти до 90% и все, полоска дальше не ползет… Все остальное работает, т.е. зависания как такого нет, просто не ползет дальше.
Слушай, а как быстро у тебя происходит холодный запуск приложений?
И, ставил ли ты на свой нетбук версию 11.10?

P.S. Ставлю на «старенький» комп.: проц. — 2.2 ггерц операт. — 1 гиг , может слабоват?
Разве может быть чтоб 11.10 установилась, а 12.04 капризничает.

да-да.. у меня то же самое было в одной из нескольких попыток.. поставил 11.10, обновился с нее до 12.04, но не нравится мне это решение проблемы…

вот именно, что подобные проблемы не железные, ибо я точно так же ставил 11.10 спокойно, а зависание именно с новой версией. Причем CD или DVD версии, неважно.

Ну и работай с 11.10. Набирай опыта, учись. А когда месяца через 2 всё устаканится, тогда и переходи на 12.04.

Запускаются тяжеловато, ставил 11.10 — тоже все не очень шустро, поэтому возвращался на сборку Runtu 10.04. Сейчас поставил Lubuntu 12.04, вроде все нормуль, довольно шустро.

Релиз два дня назад только вышел, ни кто еще толком разобраться не смог и вовсе не все кто есть на форуме ломанулись новенькое изучать. Многие из нас просто работают со старыми версиями и не собираются переходить на новое. Оставаться на старой, устоявшейся версии самое разумное. Мы же тебе не разработчики, отвечать почему на твоё неизвестное ни кому железо система не устаканивается. Ты хоть параметры железа выложи что ли для начала.

На мой ноут Asus F80C последняя система, которая ставится — 10.04. У остальных — одна и та же проблема — выбор Install from disc и сразу же чёрный экран с курсором. Пробовал играться с acpi=off и nomodeset — ноль эмоций. Alternate тоже пробовал. Разрядность правильная. Сообщений об ошибках — нет, просто чёрный экран. У кого-нибудь получилось поставить на ноут такой модели Ubuntu выше версии Lucid Lynx?

У меня стоит Kubuntu 11.10 x64. В системных уведомлениях появилось сообщение о том, что доступна новая версия Kubuntu. Но дело в том, что во время установки программа просто вылетает секунд через 30. Каждый раз на разных этапах. В последний раз на этапе скачивания пакетов. После этого кстати в muon появилось уведомление, что доступно 1600 пакетов для обновлений. Вопрос такой, если выполнить команду: sudo apt-get dist-upgrade, то дистрибутив обновится до версии 12.04 или просто произойдет обновление пакетов, но не версии дистрибутива?
У меня тоже Kubuntu 11.10 x64, но обновления в упор не хочет видеть! Чуть ниже в теме мой топик по этому поводу.

Установил, всё запускается, но через некоторое время виснет и не отзывается, помогает перегрузка.(((
Было такое в виртуалке — поставил все галочки по источникам обновлений + партнёры каноникал. Приехали какие-то обновления и проблема исчезла.

на одном из старых компьютеров была диагностирована такая же проблема, что и у вас. В 12.04 валилась установка на том месте, когда должна была стартовать презентация (сразу после выбора логина и пароля учетной записи). Решением стала установка системы с alternate cd, которая происходит в текстовом режиме. Попробуйте, это совершенно не сложнее и должно получиться.

I’m trying to install Xubuntu 12.10 on an old laptop (HP Pavilion ze4125 w/80GB drive and 1GB RAM). When I try to install it straight from the CD, after selecting a time zone I get «The installer encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will now be run so that you may investigate the problem or try installing again.» If I instead boot the live CD and double-click on Install Xubuntu, it starts, then (about the same distance into the install) kicks me back to Xubuntu running on the live CD, with a «busy» cursor symbol (but it just sits there, never completes the install).
I’ve had this problem before in earlier versions, so it’s not new to 12.10. Before, I got around it by installing using the Alternate CD, but now that’s no longer an option. Lubuntu used to always install on this machine, but I like Xubuntu a lot better. Some have recommended booting to the live CD, then running sudo apt-get remove ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu. It says that’s not installed, so I tried sudo apt-get remove ubiquity—which worked, but then double-clicking on Install Xubuntu gets me «Failed to run «ubiquity-gtkui.desktop», so that’s a dead end.

You seem to be running the Athlon XP 1600+ cpu. I have not been able to find any verification that it can run the PAE kernel that 12.10 comes with.

If you are trying to install the Xubuntu iso, and you want to remove the slide show first, look for the Xubuntu flavor of the slideshow, i.e. «ubiquity-slideshow-xubuntu».

Dang! I really like Xubuntu and it ran well on this thing before. I hope it’s not quite as hopeless as it’s starting to sound.

Of course! Now why didn’t I think of that? It’s simple enough it should have occurred to me. Worked too! So, for anyone else experiencing it, the thing to do is:
- Boot with the CD, and select Try Xubuntu.
- Open a terminal window, and type sudo apt-get remove ubiquity-slideshow-xubuntu. When it’s done, close the terminal window.
- Double-click on the Install Xubuntu icon. Now the installer should run correctly.
This is great. Now if I can only figure out how to make it turn itself off—when I tell it to shut down or restart, it hangs before powering off. It’s been doing that since the 12.10 upgrade.

I wish i read this thread earlier. I messed up my 12.10 O/S playing around with Compiz settings, after doing an upgrade. Tried re-install from the disk multiple times as everyone else did. But I did notice the first time that the installer crashed when i clicked on the slideshow… and that it hung up everytime the slideshow came on…but didnt think twice about it being the problem…ended up installing 12.04 and upgrading again from the alternate 12.04 disc.

I’m trying to install Ubuntu 20.04 on an Asus having an SSD (1To) as the only hard disk and I ran into a bunch of issues.
When I thought that the installation ended I got this error message displayed: «We’re sorry, the installer crashed. After you close this window, we’ll allow you to file a bug report using the integrated bug reporting tool. This will gather the information about your system and your installation process. The details will be sent to our bug tracker and a developer will attend to the problem as soon as possible.» The error message window had the title: «Installer crashed»
Then another error message got displayed: «The system log from your installation contains an error. The specific error commonly occurs when there is an issue with the disk to which you are trying to install Ubuntu. It is recommended that you back up important data on your disk and investigate the situation. Measures you might take include checking cable connections for your disk and using software tools to investigate the health of your hardware.» The error message window had no title.
The last error message was: «The installer encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will now be run so that you may investigate the problem or try installing again.» The error was under the title «Installation failed.»

I bought it about 2 years ago and it came with Windows 10, after 5-6 months it started crashing (blue window out of the blue…) and rebooting continuously. Since I had the warranty available I took it to an Azure store and they fixed it. On the «bill» it was written that they replaced the hard disk. And it worked well again. After roughly a year or so it had the same issue again. I thought it was because an update of Windows 10 because when I restored to a previous version it started to work well again, but the same issue happened (blue window, rebooting endlessly). That’s why I tried to switch to Ubuntu.
I’d like to ask you what I can do to try figuring out what’s happening with this laptop and how to fix it. The second error message suggested to check disk cable connections but I have no idea how to do it and I’m afraid I’d mess it up if I follow some random youtube tutorial so I’d be happy if someone provided with links they trust. Also, I don’t know what software I can use to figure out what’s happening with the hard disk and how to «use» this software since I can install no OS on the laptop.

P.S.: I don’t have a way to get a live USB with the latest version of Ubuntu but I suppose the issue with my hardware and not the software.
