There was an error communicating with your device

Hi I am wanting to test a hello world app on my iPad and iPhone.

Hi I am wanting to test a hello world app on my iPad and iPhone.

I get the following error when I try and test it on the ipad «App installation failed:There was an error communicating with your device». However, when i plug in my iphone and hit ‘Run’ it loads up fine, the simulation also works fine. Can someone please explain why i get this and how to fix it? Also where can I get more info on this error?

Thanks.

Did you answer the Trust this Mac when you attached the iPad? If not, it effectively shuts

down communications between the two devices.

Yeh I have been using it for a while, I can access it using itunes and add/remove music and apps.

Is it connected direct to the Mac, or through a hub?

Have you tried any different cables?

It’s a direct usb connection. The cord was new, but i just tried two others and its the same result.

I have encountered same error report when install app with Enterprise Deployment. Can someone please explain why?

Any update on this issue, please advise. I encounter the same issue since last week.

Has this issue been resolved???

I’m having the same problem. I’ve tried everything from recommendations on stackoverflow to this forum. Nothings working for me. I hope a rep will respond. Thanks.

Meet same problem with Xcode version 9.2 and ipad air IOS11.2

I have tried to reset the network, but it did not help.

I ran into the same issue and

  1. Unpair the device in Xcode.
  2. Clean the project.
  3. Unplug and then restart iPhone.
  4. Restart Xcode.

helps me solve it.

I see in Window -> Device & Simulators this message «To run on this device, please update to a version of Xcode that supports iOS 14.1. You can download Xcode from the Mac App Store or the Apple Developer website.»

I use iOS 14.1 and Xcode 11.7.

So after update Xcode everything works well.

You guys I faced this issue and I solve it. My role was developer on AppStore connect and I make it change as an app manager and it works.

I searched all resources last day and didn’t get a successful result. Please take it into consideration that I could test with this device a few days ago. But today I didn’t do. Also I tested this iPhone with another mac, the result is the same. The device is an iPhone 6s.
I did the following things:
-restart Xcode
-restart mac
-restart device
-clean& build project

Please help me for solving this problem.

For others also dealing with this problem and couldn’t find anything that worked for them. I fixed it by restarting my MacBookPro.

~~ What I tried ~~
Restarting the iPhone did not help, tried it 3 times.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the app did not help.
Changing the Wi-Fi did not help.
Restarting Xcode did not help.
Unplugging and replugging the iPhone did not help.
Disabling «Connect over network» in Xcode did not help.

~~ What I checked ~~
Xcode is the newest version.
iOS is the newest version
I couldn’t try another Mac cause I only have one.
I also only have one cable.
I only have one version of Xcode installed.

Please check the following notes:

  1. Make sure to answer the trust this Mac when you attached the device; If the device is not trusted, it effectively shuts down communications between the two devices.

  2. Try any different cable.

  3. Check if you have 2 different versions of Xcode installed in your machine.

Apparently, this error can occur because of multiple issues. In my case, when I restarted the iPhone, it asked me to re-enter password for my apple id. Once the password was verified, I was able to run the application on the iPhone.

Error happened to me because my iPad was full on disk space. I was unaware of this until I restarted it.

I had this issue happen to my iPad 3 on iOS 9.3.5 I just needed to reboot the iPad and allow it to show me an «activation lock» screen (for some reason) that I simply had to reenter my iCloud password into. Also, it showed me the «storage almost full» message on reboot

Not Working For Me Too.
I Reinstalled AltStore And This Happened.

noah978

This issue should be fixed on the latest versions of AltStore/AltServer. Closing this issue.

Still not fixed on the latest version

noah978

@vamgan Please provide the following information if you can:

  • iOS version
  • Mac or Windows

Are you having the exact same issue as @hbbxmjbb? Lastly, can you try uninstalling AltServer and using the latest beta AltServer.

vamgan

Exact same issue

Windows 10

Installed and reinstalled many times the latest version: 1.3.2 beta 3

noolaan

Also having this issue on latest version 1.3.2, iPhone 7 13.5 on Windows 10

noah978

Please try deleting the “adi” folder in iTunes’ file directory, then restart your computer and try again.

noolaan

The first time I attempted it, AltServer exited while «installing» without any error prompt. I tried it a second time (after deleting the file again and restarting) and it continues to give me the same error. The file reappears after each reboot. I’ve already restored my phone, tried a new Apple ID, reinstalled ITunes/ICloud a few times, disabled my firewall, and a few other things.

Please make sure that your iOS Time + Date and Windows Time + Date are correct and in sync. This should fix your issue.

noolaan

Solved! I guess my BIOS never had its system time set correctly and this managed to solve it after enabling automatic time setting, automatic timezones, and syncing with windows again. Thank you for the help, this was extremely frustrating.

dlcode14

If you have Reprovision installed try downgrading it to previous version or uninstall it..downgrading worked for me..:)

cdK1337

Using win7, time is correct, checked, synced once more, but didn’t helped me, still have error: «Failed to verify code signature of /private/var/installd’Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installd,staging/temp.4TdWwd/extracted/Altstore.app : 0xe800800d (There was an error communicating with your device.)» Altstore installing perfectly on my SE, but it is not installing on my 5S.
Update: cleared iPhone data and restored it from iCloud. Altstore installed on 5S

halfbrilliant

Sorry @cdK1337 what exactly do you mean by «cleared iPhone data»? Did you restore the phone, or use one of the options in the Reset menu? Or was it on the Mac side? I’d appreciate if you could elaborate a bit :)

cdK1337

Hello @halfbrilliant I cleared all iPhone data from the options in reset menu, so the phone was like new. I was using windows 7. Don’t remember how I restored all data — from windows or from options on the phone, I don’t remember, but, probably, when the phone turned on, it suggested me to restore all data from iCloud.
